I don't know, maybe because this is supposed to be a game based on WW1 and some people actually enjoy roleplaying as a historically accurate rifleman.
Sharkbite9204 some snipers are better without scope, for example the lee enfield, the sweet spot isnt that far away that you'd d better without the scope, plus it takes a lot space from your screen when aiming vs. without a sight.
and the gewerh m95 has no sweetspot and it fires faster than the other rifles so its more useful to use it in close to medium combat without a scope, because it isnt that good in range

I only use iron sight rifles, i don't like advertising my position to everyone looking my direction due to scope glint. I also don't like back of the map sniping, i play the mid range and play aggressive. I play them like battle rifles, which is essentially what they were.
H O R D 3 I perform better using iron sight bolt action rifles compared to the scoped versions, but it's also feel authentic as if I'm a normal rifleman :)

I prefer the infantry version of sniper rifles. But that's because i'm on console and get that juicy aim assist which you don't really get with the scoped variants i think

Battlefield 1 casual-fest loadout.
Kit: Assault because all the other classes are too hard.
Primary: Automatico Trench because we don't want any imagination.
Secondary: M1911 because that hip fire.
Grenade: Gas because there was gas in WWI right?
Gadgets: Bundle Grenades and the AT Gun because the other gadgets suck.
Melee: Knife because we don't know that you can change your melee weapon.
Hey Level, this is the casual-fest loadout which represents the majority of BF1 players. Make sure you always hip fire with your Automatico and spam gas wherever possible.
Never capture flags, just keep up your kill count. Make sure you always get those cool melee kills to humiliate your opponent and if you die, blame the lag or something.

Agentcoolguy1 I think people are more into sniping, because it's easy. And you can anyway hipfire people from range without trench variant. And if you are trying to mock up the hipfire in this game, you have to think that if you hipfire in real life the bullets will not spread like crazy. The bullets will go exactly there where you are pointing. Hipfire might be better in this game than in others, but in Bf1 it's more realistic.

You're a austrian rifleman and are fighting against the italian army. You have your M.95 to pick off targets from a distance easily and fast and your trusty Frommer Stop for finishing off enemys up close. Try to play on Operations, also don't be afraid of playing a bit of hardcore, since this mode would make it a bit easier for you killing targets up close with your primary. P.S. Out-sniping an enemy who is using a scope when you are using irons feels incredible. that combines with no scope glint and historical accuracy means that I only ever use the sniper variant when defending on operations. One of my best killstreaks as a sniper was with a Mosin-Nagant infantry in a conquest game on Łupków Pass. I found a spot in a bush by a log on a hill next to one of the objectives (the one right next to the train tunnel and bridge I think), and got like 10 kills before anyone noticed where I was. I remember a decent amount of those kills were enemy scouts after I saw their scope glint.

That would be the worst gun in the game. It's sweet spot starts at 100 metres and that is not a range you would use irons at.

It makes no sense why the K bullet reload is so long. There is a switch on the gun that stops the rounds in the tube from being loaded. The rifle should have the fastest K bullet reload.

The lebel uses a tube magazine, unlike the box magazines in the 1903 or SMLE. The weird pull of the bolt on the last bullet is because the magazine is full but there is none in the chamber (I think, I'm not sure, I just heard it functions similar to a Lever-Action) so the extra pull puts one in chamber with the tube magazine full, but I haven't studied the lebel much, so I might be wrong
Daniel Daniels This is actually correct, but why your character puts a round in the chamber after one is already on the cartridge elevator boggles me. There could be something we're missing, but idk.

You can use the first mag of the Lebel but no more, your min weapon will be your Bolo Knife. Remember to through your grenades in first.

This loadout is to symbolize what was primarily used by the Allied Powers Light Machine Gunners used in the Western Front of the Great War.

The French were using just about any pistol they could get their hands on but I was disappointed that some of the more prominent ones didn't appear in this dlc. BTW the 1903 was adopted by Sweden but FN is from Belgium

Run around the map yelling Shakespeare quotes and hatcheting people. Throw incendiary grenades to soften your victims up before going in for the kill. If you're about to die, throw dynamite down and blow yourself up, preferably taking your killer with you. You must always run with the hatchet out, no guns or gadgets apart from dynamite! Enjoy!
The Mle was more of an officer's pistol but was also given to trench raiding groups and tank crews. However, most information you will find on it will find it being called the Ruby or Union pistol. These variants were more or less direct copies of the Mle but instead of being produced by FN they were produced by Spanish gun makers.
The mle 1903 design was used by the french. The french used a pistol generally known as the Ruby, which was the mle 1903 produced by a multitude of Spanish manufactures without a license (because it wasn't patented in Spain). Which were then bought by the French military to supplement what was their actual standard issue pistol. The Ruby became far more numerous however and somewhat better than the standard issue pistol.

The lebel infantry is my favorite gun to use in any shooter. Idk why it's just so satisfying and fun. Definitely not the best and easiest to use but when you manage to wreck with it you feel like such a badass. Plus I love sniping but hate people sitting in the back and not playing the objectives and this gives me to perfect range to be a pretty aggressive scout
hey levelcap when using the lebel i found that if you knife as soon as the ammo in the corner hits eight you save a bit of time. its saved my life multiple times. keep up the good work

the most important thing is the fact you produce no scope glint, marksman variants don't as well, so technically marksman is the best sniper rifle variant.
The infantry variants are for people who can't snipe like myself, I can't express how much I love them.

The Lebel remains my favorite rifle in the game, personally. It's just fun to use, the special skin is gorgeous, and it offers a relatively unique challenge with the grueling reload. Granted, this is coming from someone studying to be a history teacher and I just love it when developers accurately portray historical guns.

I think the reason that this loadout uses the Mle 1903 is because we didn't get a new sidearm with this DLC, and the Mle 1903 is very similar to France's standard-issue "Ruby" pistol...this is the same reason that I use the Bodeo 1889 with the Russian 1895 because the Bodeo is similar to the Nagant 1895

Currently covering WWI in my AP world history class and all I can think of is Battlefield 1 and how I feel like I somehow appreciate it more simply by playing the game. I know the game is far from the actual war and how it played out but just experiencing the maps and soldiers and weapons, and then seeing and reading about those things in class is just so cool.

You're new to battlefield 1, in battlefield 4 all you used was the MK11, once you find out about the RSC, you automatically go for it as it is like the MK11. Then, you continue to snipe semi-automatically.
Gandolf44 problem is, you can't put a scope on the RSC; perhaps the Mondragón Sniper instead?
I do give the games dev's credit for including the fact that to raise the first round up to the chamber from the magazine, you need to basically yank the bolt to make the feed ramp pop up, sure it might get you killed more often but I can happily put up with that mainly as it is realistic.
What's up with the lack of video quality? I Feel like it's not as sharp as it could be, even with Geforce experience you get a better resolution, or does youtube compress it that much?

While the Mle. 1903 wasn't used by the French Army, the Ruby, the pistol they did, was a Spanish derivative of the Mle. 1903.

The M1909 Benet Mercie was the American designation for the French Hotchkiss Mk I, the difference being the M1909 fires the .30-06 Springfield round. I want to see you change the recoil bias because it asthetically changes the gun into it's original barrel.

Level there's a setting in game to turn on the realistic viewfinding fade that you were talking about. I assumed you had turned it off for performance or something.
little known fact: the radium sights are called that because they contain radium, a radioactive alkaline earth metal. Widely used to make watches glow in the early 20th century, it produces that greenish glow on the optic itself. It is no longer used as extremely dangerous due to its radioactivity
This is NOT sniper rifle nor will ever be. Please stop calling it that. Lebel 1886 is bolt action standard issue rifle. Real scouts use infantry models.

Hey Levelcap. I think in the options menu somewhere you can make the back of the rifle be blurred when you ADS. I turned it off though. But It might help with the radiant iron sights.

Jokes about the French should pretty much be limited to WWII. They commanded American units in WWI because they knew what they were doing at that point, after having millions of casualties of their own. They were also a dominant force in Europe at this time, notwithstanding the result of Franco-Prussian War decades earlier.

Lebel is actually my new fave sniper, reload is a bit long but the feel of it is immense! Got 700 kills since DLC release with it.

Shell shock solider
After experiencing war you have become what your comrades refer as "shell shock".
You have ditched your rifle for a fallen enemy's side arm (Mauser C96) to gun down enemies and a hatchet to quench your newly found thirst for blood. Also use gas grenades to flush the enemy out of cover.

i've got an idea for a loadout, use the chouchat low weight, but due to the weapon in real life getting jammed by mud, you have to keep it clean. if it gets covered in mud you cant use it and instead must result in using a sidearm or preferrably a french melee weapon of your choice

I love the lebel because it’s perfect for my play style which I call the ‘1 2 drop dead’ where i use the lebel do 80 damage with one shot and then switch to the obrez and finish them off and it works really well (also works well with the mkvi revolver)
fun little fact that will help out with the lebel you can actually YY after reloading the last shot to significantly speed up the reload process. Unfortunately, this does not work with K bullets.
youre correct level, the tube style for the gun was otudated by ww1, the 8mm Lebel ammunition it used wasnt 8mm lebel was a nice round even by 1914 (even by the end of the war as shown by the french use of the rsc) , also to mention the french first SLR was the RSC 1917 and the later improvement the 1918 both used 8mm lebel.

u can enable weapon DOF in video options to get the realistic effect of iron sights
