    The star trek Odyssey, Helena, and Hidden Frontier are so well done, that I don't even care for the original series or next generation series.

    I do love how Ro's earring keeps changing ears. They must have done that on purpose.
    On another note, I love how much I still love this story and series even after ten years.

I feel like he is getting typecast or a real bad luck When they pick a role for him lol... handsome young man could have any girl in starfleet, in in any generation, but always got a ball and chain of marriage (and a ball and chain with ehh even more balls at that) lol story older than time The type of guy that can have any girl usually well u know haha

    So, I happened across this randomly, and while it's a nice effort there were quite a few...issues.
    1) Your admiral was wearing a notably oversized jacket, and his badge was crooked.
    2) Romulan: "This is no time for secrets." That seems...well, unlikely.
    3) Your admiral seemed mind-boggingly stupid, and utterly lacking in decision-making capability.
    4) I don't know if there's some backstory to this episode, but if there is it is poorly numbered.

    Here's a couple good 'what-if' scenario questions:
    1 - if the Arkain had attacked the Dominion, how short of a time before the Dominion forces were completely obliterated?
    2 - if the Arkain had been dumb enough to try attacking the Borg, how quickly would they be assimilated by the Borg?

    BEFORE other fan made series like ST Phase II or ST Continues...
    This was a VERY well made series especially considering the whole "studio" where it was produced was a trailer camper equipped with a green mat. Many of the cast members were not professional actors and ALL involved were voulenteers.
    As to the comments of certain viewers, I suppose the "logic" is that if two characters in the series are confirmed to be same gender oriented then it's safe to assume the rest of the crew is as well.

    Its true that the original series had the first televised interracial kiss in America, but what was not true was that they made the entire series about interracial kisses. If you want to portray homosexuality as no big deal in the future, you need to not make it such a big deal. Having multiple scenes in every episode that are literally dripping with it actually does the opposite of the intent.

    • @mikejhorn
      @mikejhorn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very well put! There is nothing subtle about any of the writing for this show. The beauty of TOS was the inclusion of issues relevant at the time without overdoing it or being preachy. One cannot say that for this or the new CBS "Star Trek Discovery." The were several episodes of Star Trek after TOS that included or hinted at LGBT without doing it in a manner that disagreed with many. I agree with some opinions that some of the heterosexual romantic scenes were over the top and hard to watch.

    • @jv-lk7bc
      @jv-lk7bc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roddenberry created something truly unique - of more cultural value than even many of its fans are aware. But whether by accident or design, TOS was often unsubtle, and definitely had its preachy moments..
      (If you can't you conjure the brassy tones behind a Kirk Inspirational Speech in your head, i wonder how much TOS you have seen? ;)

    • @mercuryblack9531
      @mercuryblack9531 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, but very often there was a hetero love scene in many, many episodes, whether TOS, TNG, ENT, DS9... Subtle? A homosexual scene does not a series make.
      U sir are stupid and homophobic. U fail to see what's normal about homosexuality, and choose to see it "different". Therein lies ur issue. Plus u have piss poor logic. To even make a statement that says homosexuality is pushed to the forefront, yet not even taking note of the blatant hetero alien (Majan and Caecos) sex that happens in the same fucking episode???

    • @ChildovGhad
      @ChildovGhad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fact that they're gay didn't bother me, but it did come off like softcore porn, and had zero relevance to the plot. I didn't really care for the hetero soft porn scenes in Star Trek: Enterprise between Trip and T'Pol, either. Way too drawn out.

      It is not phobic to find scenes of different sexualities distasteful. That's entailed in the difference. Better to tone down all such scenes and let them be a private matter. You need more self-awareness, sir. No one has said anything against differences of sexuality. You have aimed a groundless accusation that you yourself, no doubt, deem quite serious which shows who actually is the bigot, and undermines any meaningful discussion.

    Considering its a fan production, it's not too bad. They're doing the best with what they have. The gay relationship seems a bit pushed forward a bit too heavily for one episode, even in the official Trek shows later on kept hetero relationship a but more subdued, and if it got hot and heavy, then it was because of a plotpoint.
    So far, all I've seen is half of the first episode, so my opinion has yet to be finalized.
    Does the Uploader pay any attention to the comments? I have yet to see a response anywhere to anything.

    • @batquad8889
      @batquad8889 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I agree with the OP. They did a very good job, BUT any overkill on gay, hetero, etc... should be avoided. Too much gory violence is another trait that should be avoided. As to the jumping on a mild comment such as the OP is of no value either. If the comment was excessive, it was not, pushback is appropriate. In this case it was just virtue signalling.

      The interesting thing is in TNG it's stated by Beverly Crusher that the entire human brain had been mapped. They are now able to correct for anomalies. Would that mean that a homosexual could choose to be straight? What if a parent wanted their child to be gay? It does pose some interesting possibilities.

    12) If he was referring instead to the Klingon ships cloak, then he really should have said so, as being specific with information delivery is kind of a mandatory job qualification for such positions anywhere.
    13) And finally, at the black hole place at the end...the enemy flagship was able to completely circumnavigate the anomaly in the time it took the Odyssey to enter it, with a head start? Then why did they bother entering it in the first place?

    For a fan film this is very well made. Who cares if there are gay or straight or characters practicing polyamory for that matter? I thought the gay commander was a nice touch. Since one of Star Trek's main themes was "tolerance" it shouldn't surprise anyone that the script writers added in a different type of relationship. Doesn't anyone remember Phlox from Enterprise? His wife had other husbands, and people seemed to be okay with that sort of polyamorous relationship. How is this any different?

      I guess you watched the episode with your volume muted? Sorry, but the concensus is that the acting was pretty awful. When your ridiculous hatred of CBS blinds you so much that you think this fanfiction equated to good acting, well, it's obvious you lost all of our objectivity. Maybe you've found some in the last 3 years but I doubt it. I've watched a lot of fan-made episodes with varying acting skills, but this was one of the worst. I mean, it's fan-fiction so I don't expect Academy Award performances, so I don't have sky high expectations. But c'mon -- to say that they're better than the actors in the feature films is going way beyond the pale here in your attempt to bash CBS and any Trek that isn't at least 30 years old. People need to stop with the nostalgia -- you'll never be happy living in the past. Nor will you ever be able to appreciate anything new.

    Ok, so this is what I think. This is not great by ANY means, but it's not the worst fan made movie/show I've ever seen either. There are some highlights here, most notably (for me anyway) is the battle towards the end. That was VERY entertaining. The acting may not be great, but I have to admit, I wasn't even thinking about that during the battle scene. The other good thing here is the music. No it's not top notch, but it's still pretty impressive. It does seem to languish a bit during the first half, and I thought I heard a number of repetitive tunes, but the last half was good. Again, the music during the battle towards the end is exciting and really made those scenes shine. Now for the not so good parts, the acting, ok, I get that this is a fan made production, and probably cost $100 to make, but that shouldn't mean you have to settle for sub-par, or in some cases, downright TERRIBLE acting. There was 1-2 performances here that I genuinely enjoyed, but most, if not ALL the rest are awful. I also have to point out that while I thought the OVERALL script was just ok, there were a few moments where I was impressed. I definitely think there should have been more humor. Though, the one joke that WAS made, was actually pretty funny. But this could DEFINITELY have been improved with even a LITTLE more humor. The other big thing I had a problem with here is the forced gay couple thing. I mean seriously, do they have to spend the entirety of the first half of the show, as though they're tethered together? Or how about the lowly Lt. Cmdr who is suddenly thrust into commanding the ship. Come on, be original. anyway, I'm sorry if I sound harsh in my criticism here, but when you put something online for others to see, and critique, you have to accept that criticism. I really have a hard time understanding those people praising this thing like it's the greatest fan made production that has ever been made. No, it's not the greatest, not by a long shot. But there are some things that are worthy of praise, just don't tell me that I'm being overly critical, and try and convince me that this is award worthy. Because it's really not. P.S. I intentionally left out the criticism of specific actors/performances, I may be harsh, but I'm not trying to be a d*ck here.

I look forward to seeing the rest of what was obviously a labor of love by those involved. Don't sweat the negative to much as haters are just doing their thing. On any RL resemblance of wormholes, if they'd exist, they would be uncommon, and with that are under
    a set of rules that happen most infrequently in nature, for if it were not, the wormholes would be more common.
    This goes for any set of neccesities required to create an uncommon effect or even an artificial one.
    This then by result on those neccisties would mean that an artificial wormhole would be rather easy to destroy,
    not hard. Changing one of the underlying neccesities into one that no longer supports the wormhole,
    would cause it's collapse, or would destabilize it, or otherwise make it less trustworthy in it's ability to link one point
    of space to another, possibly changing the exit point.
    The only exclusion is that although it may be really hard to create one, once in existence,
    several or all of the neccesities are no longer a prerequisite to keep one, in which case the entire set is no longer valid.
    However, the necessities to keep a wormhole stable still underlies a then new set of neccesities, of which then
    one can be countered, causing collapse yet again. On this yet another exclusion,
    that once created a wormhole is stable, conditionless, and can't be undone, which is however highly unlikely.
    Also, the distance for any effect through the wormhole may still take LY of travel, in which case an endpoint
    bombarded with any type of solution to the source would be meaningless. If a wormhole is created artificially
    the chances of undoing it are greatest at the source of it's creation, not the endpoint, all other things being equal.
    This rests on a premise that a wormhole can or cannot be created artificially on a single point. If it needs
    two points, both beginning and endpoint to create one between those points requiring artificial conditions,
    the same for both points goes, like mentioned before, an underlying set of rules for support and creation,
    where those set of conditions may differ during creation and during it's existence from one another.
    Note: When considering any such experimentation, these should always be done during a time and place
    where the Earth is moving away from the phenomenon, taking both Earth's orbit around the Sun,
    as well as the Sun moving away from the center of the galaxy. Any weird artificial phenomenon creation,
    should alwasy happen where once created it would not move through the planet, but rather upward,
    away from the planet, not passing through the Earth. A passage connecting time and space of one position
    to another, would be in a fixed position when it comes to the Universe's 'idea' of coordinates.
    (meaning that what we think are true coordinates, may very well be moving points in respect to the Universe.
    and negate the relativity of things.)

    I can't believe how many comments here are about the gay characters' subplot. I never cared for the mushy scenes on Star Trek (the relationship between Riker and Troi was often cringeworthy), the fact is they've been there, from "The Cage" on. Featuring a gay couple is totally consistent with Roddenberry's vision for the show. Not a few people complained about Uhura's and Kirk's kiss back in the day. If that stuff bugs you, don't watch these shows.
    I have to say that this show, flaws aside, isn't bad, and the same could be said for many of the fan series. I appreciate how much these folks do, for the most part on their own time with not much expectation of monetary or other such rewards. Nonetheless, the actresses who play the head alien and the Romulan officer seem to be in a contest to see who can chew the most scenery.

    • @kaoskode
      @kaoskode 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have your head stuck up your ass. From the cage on huh? Name any obvious gay couple from the original series or any other star trek series. There might be a couple of hints but nothing in your face. This isn't what Roddenberry tried to do besides the fact that the acting and cinematography sucs ass MAJOR ass. The gay crap doesn't bother me near as much as the smoke rising in front of the actors for the first several minutes before there was even any fire on the bridge.
      This show just plain sucks.

    • @charlesameyer1
      @charlesameyer1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gary Simmons You missed my point, genius. I wasn't saying that there were gay evidently characters in the original Star Trek, I said there were scenes with romance and hints of sex. Just as folks who didn't like having to see "negro" or Chinese characters on TV didn't have to watch TOS, you don't have to watch this show.

    • @hannable70
      @hannable70 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gay or not, I wasn't happy with the characters. First of all, they were both WAY too young to be commanders in Star Fleet. They were both kids, for crying out loud, and they acted like it., too. Neither of them were old enough to be lieutenants much less commanders. Plus, neither of them were particularly attractive, which didn't help. To have these two college-age kids entrusted by Starfleet to be doing secret stuff for the Federation and meeting in person with admirals -- and listening to their high childlike voices spewing out things that should have come from a much older set of vocal cords was really off-putting to me. Plus, if they had been 20 or 30 years older, they may have been far more mature in how they handle their relationship -- and not ripping each others' clothes off behind some cargo bins because they have 10 free minutes to be together. And who the hell complains about not having time for their honeymoon to a friggin' admiral about to give them important orders? Those two acted like two 13 year-olds in love for the first time, always hanging on each other in every scene. I'm surprised they weren't necking in front of their commanding officer. "Well, sir, you paused for a second, so I thought I'd squeeze in a kiss while you took a breath ..." It was made all the worse by the sub-par acting. For instance, their voice inflections were all wrong for the topics they were discussing, the anger scenes had little emotion behind the yelling, and a lot of other things. But having those two puppies as the main characters, gay or not, I just couldn't deal with. The immature way they conducted their romance was the final straw.
