    No way... with the Star Trek royalty cast assembled here , this deserves a much bigger budget!

    • @ttacking_you
      @ttacking_you ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sometimes, the budget goes into casting. Wise choice imo it's substantiates and legitimizes the title brand and helps engross you into the film , QUITE EFFECTIVELY

      And this kinda "subversive" (with GLARING subtext) political plot is precisely the kind of Star Trek that love I most . Some prefer the theoretical physics involved or the mysteries or plot twists or graphics, of course. Me, I'm into the political ones ( ALWAYS the most controversial of the aspects)

      @ttacking_you I read somewhere that they wanted to do this as a final official TOS film. Nichelle Nichols went to Paramount to pitch the idea, but Paramount refused to do it. So she and Walter Koenig raised the money and did it themselves as their gift to the fans. This was THE film that turned me on to fan films.

    • @ttacking_you
      @ttacking_you ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darrylgonzalez5251Well you see? I feel, to properly taxonomize the sub genre of fanfilms, one has to eschew ANY industry insiders at all strata of production. It sounds to me like this was merely a movie that couldn't find a producer, viz, its an independent film. To mislabel it as a fan film, I believe, is reductive.

      I was watching the scene which the planet (not the island) of Vulcan got blown away. This reminded me of the last scene of the 1951 version of 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'. Klatu told the Earthlings, "I am not here to help you with your petty problems. I am an envoy with a message, "Don't bring your aggression out here, or we will turn your planet into a burning cinder." "
      Interesting.

      here's how that worked/works: Gene Roddenberry insisted that they use prototypes of scientific accomplishments that would eventually be in production. So they partnered with UCLA to get in the cutting edge of scientific inventions. Watch Spock hold up a mini floppy disc in 1967, watch a Motorola flip phone become a communicator. Watch the door be opened like motion activated grocery store doors (20 years before they became a reality). Watch a phaser shoot a laser bean, ...well,.. like a laser!😉

    I just saw this movie today (May 18, 2020). Thank you to everyone involved in making this production happen. I think it is fabulous and brings back memories as a pre-teen watching the original series! I very clearly remember that time machine fifty years ago. Much gratitude to you for your endearing "labor of love".

    Hey, just wanted to let the people who did this know --- this old school Trekkie adored this! Nichelle Nichols shines; Walter Koenig shows his depth (again!) Tim Russ is steady and true; and in its own way it truly is wonderful classic Trek; moral fiber intact. Well done Trek Renegades. I am honestly impressed.

    This is a beautiful work, especially for being low budget. The actors did a great job creating the tone and presence. I felt like a kid watching a new episode of TOS. I admit I even teared up at the nostalgia and emotion. I loved seeing all the actors make this come to life! Thank you all for creating this.

      Yes, I was a new immigrant from Cuba 4 years old. I watched the TOS, I would argue with my parents that it's illogical to deny a future space traveler from seeing this tv series. Yes, made me feel like a kid again. I am still waiting on my transport. Lol 😆.

    I personally really enjoy seeing the old actors in a newer role regardless of budget. It's got the old star trek feel and you don't need a big budget for that.
    I also appreciate that it has a positive feel unlike a lot of the more recent official releases.

    I don't care what anyone else said about this fan made movie because it was really nice to see old friends from my youth, sure it didn't have all my old friends but enough were present to bring back some really good memories. And to all my old friends who have gone boldly on to explore man's final frontier in the after life ,you are missed here but one day we shall all meet again to explore even the Heavenly realms. Star Trek will forever be remembered just like the people who helped make it a reality because you can't destroy an idea that Star Trek helped create. To all who reads this post may you live long and prosper.

    All these damn critics on here. You think you can do better? Well, lets see it! You get the funding. You get the actors. You get the crew. You make the sets, props and costumes. I found this by accident and was very pleased with it. I thought it was really well done.

      outsider238 it is so incredibly goddamn tough. We are so spoiled with high quality TV, we have no idea. Even the old stuff that looks corny to us now was executed at a very high skill level. Speaking of which, love the Lost in Space avatar. Lately I've been thinking a lot about the talents of Jonathan Harris and Bill Mumy, the latter of whom I think is underrated.

      ~ As I have discovered in life, Charlotte, there is no such thing as "enough" Star Trek. In my own travels I have discovered a race known as the Unenlightened who scream that there is too much Star Trek and those of our race who clearly see that there is too little Star Trek. Star Trek was unlike anything else when it premiered in 1966. As an 11 year old at the time, both my 14 year old brother and myself watched it faithfully for all three seasons. Dad hated it although he did show interest in The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone. I've been a Trekkie ever since. I appreciate all those involved in the making of this film. Nothing is perfect, and some things will never satisfy everyone. Many thanks from this old baby boomer Trekkie!
