- I have never seen so many fish 😱
It's mackerel season and they are now here in numbers.
I head slightly west with Eastbourne fishing poor in search for some and boy did I find them.
Catching them on lures off the surface was ace fun on the light gear.
I then head back to Eastbourne to try there also.

Awesome again Jason loved fishing 4 mackerel from Hastings/St Leonard's beaches and old pier nothing better than fresh mackerel 4 breakfast just 4 fun i used freshwater gear 2 catch them awesome fun on light gear was going 2 day 4 a fish but it was hissing down .Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick

I have used a floating popper and hang the white bait on the treble hooks that attracts the bass. I have left a mackerel out there and had a big take which broke my line.
Oooh that's interesting I will have to try that thanks Robert. This could possibly be a conger they are known for cutting off line or possibly even a tope :)
Great Stuff. I had a load of Mackerel from Dungeness beach the other day - they started chasing the whitebait as the sun was going down.

The water needs to be clear
So if its too rough for too long they will push back out to deeper water

No you will still catch them
Main thing is the clear water if the weather calms and the water has time to filter then it should be good

went today to seaford, cast from 2 pm to 8pm nothing,
at 8.30 the beach was crazy with mackerel, got home with some good catch

Im not 100 percent sure on this question as i have never used one. I would say if your in the UK to contact your local IFCA for more clarification on cast net use
Can't beat a few hours of Mackerel fishing on light gear and a single lure .

Unsettled weather seems to be keeping most of the mackerel out deep, not heard of any costant reports of catches from eastbourne shores as of yes

I got 120 makerel in Brighton on Friday millions of them
It's unusual, biggest shoes I've ever seen this year, no bass to eat the makrel

Was only joking buddy i used to fish hastings lived there for years havent seen it like that down there for years my favourite spot is cooden beach and yer i would have took loads myself did you manage to get a bass
