So interesting to see! Good idea to visit before the busy tourist season! I always look forward to your little adventures, which I find ‘uplifting’ with relaxing music, too .❤️x
I have been to Bibury on a coach tour from London and we went to the hotel there and had a trout lunch from the trout farm. Lunch was served at the Swan Hotel. Fresh fish for lunch caught right out of the pond. The place was so enchanting and we walked around the various homes. Would be quite interesting to rent a place there. I remember years ago, going to another small village in the Cotswolds and walking by homes, one in the row was a bakery and another a post office. I went into the wrong door and ended up in someone’s lounge living area, quite funny at the time, they just said hello to me and I left pretty fast and explained I entered the wrong door. Love your red coat too. Music is again so beautiful.
Oh Darlene you made me laugh when you said you also went into someone's home by mistake 😊. I did that at an antiques centre in Portsmouth. The place was so small with very few items on display that I assumed there was an upstairs so I went into their kitchen first before going to the first floor to have a look. It was then when they told me that it was their home as well and that I couldn't go upstairs 😋. It was so awkward, embarrassing and surreal 😅 ..... Wow you've been to Bibury and what a lovely time you had! It must have been so enchanting as you said and to have had lunch at the Swan Hotel! I didn't have a look inside the hotel but I believe it's beautiful! Wow it would be amazing to spend at least one night in that little cottage, I agree. So glad you liked my coat and especially the music 🎶 . See you soon 🥰🤗❤
There is a section of Philly known as Byberry and I'll bet it was named for this town, but not spelled the same way, as so many place names often are. This is one of many places in the British Isles that make one believe in the influence of the Little People. Yes, we can hear the rushing water of the River Coln. I would think local cows, sheep, and goats keep those grasses cut when they are in a growth season. Did I see livestock peeking out of a barn? I am a fairly short Celt, so I could live there but I don't imagine anyone tall could do so. Did you say it's below freezing this day? How are those blooms surviving? Insofar as possible, I think all homes should be inhabited and buildings in use by living humans. It looked like a waterfowl on the stone fence that flew up into the tree. I hope the tourists aren't so intrusive as to make the residents feel imprisoned while at home. Other than the local Post Office, where do the residents go to shop? It seems so peaceful and the tourists did not seem rowdy. Ah, the Swan Hotel: are there any of the king's swans on the river? I take it that the trout farm supplies the River Coln? The hotel looks to be a decent size and well-provisioned for folks who have to stay locally while visiting. That blue statue standing guard on the patio looks like a kingfisher to me. Glad they celebrate local flora & fauna. That's quite a varied little gift shop. I take it that the church is in current use as a parish church, is that right? Are the stone walls to keep the livestock corralled?
Thank you Philippa. You always make such an interesting points making me think a lot about the place and learn more about it ☺. Yes I'm sure there are all sorts of beautiful swans about the place, maybe in the warmer weather? Yes locals go to the beautiful church. It's a shame that we had to continue our journey as there were other places I wanted to see on the day. So much to see and not enough hours in the day....But I tend to revisit places I love so maybe one day soon in warmer weather I can have a lovely walk in Bibury and have lunch at the Swan hotel. Another lovely subscriber said that she had a lovely lunch there (trout) so maybe I'll do the same 😊😊. The cottages didn't look too small when you're near them so I'm sure you'll be fine to go inside. Glad you could hear the river. Yes the tourists are respectful and it's so lovely to see their excited faces as they admire the place. Interesting point on how this place may have been given its name (Byberry). Maybe the locals go for their main shopping in Cirencester? I think that's the closest town to Bibury... ❤ See you soon xx 😘
