  • We've all heard of the Holy Spirit as the third member of the Trinity. Did you know the books of Isaiah and Revelation also mention seven spirits of God? Are there seven spirits of God or just one Holy Spirit? Are these one and the same? Or, do the seven spirits describe different attributes of God's character? Join us as we examine Scripture to unravel this mystery and gain deeper insights into the nature of God and the Holy Spirit.

    This was greatly edifying - I was on the 11:2 camp but I am rethinking that and enjoyed the 7 and fullness discussion- interesting enough- I needed to fill up on gas today- I hook up the pump and wait in the car- the total came up to $77.77 - I thought about the number 7 and its significance for the LORD- I printed my receipt from the pump- got back in the car and realized I had filled up on pump 7- not saying any of this means anything - however I have been studying through Revelation- and am feeling guided to go back and further ponder with Holy Spirit the significance of 7

    Guys, you said the 7 Fold Spirits first appear in Revelation, but you need to look at Isaiah 11. The Spirit of Wisdom tells all of their names in Proverbs 8. The chapter is Wisdom speaking. The "Lampstand" is symbolic of the 7 Spirits. The center beam is Spirit of the Lord. The first beam is the Spirit of Wisdom. The opposite side is the Spirit of Understanding. Then, next to Wisdom is the Spirit of Might. On the opposite side is the Spirit of Council. Then, on the far end is the Spirit of Knowledge. The last on on the far right is the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord. The 7 Fold Spirits have nothing to do with Angels ! If you read the Book of Revelation when everyone falls down on their faces, the 7 Fold Spirit DOES NOT FALL DAOWN ! That's because they ARE the Holy Spirit ! Imagine white light (Holy Spirit) passing through a prism to become 7 different colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. In the Holy Spirit the prism reveals the Spirit of the Lord, Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Might, Knowledge, and Fear. They aren't a "thing" that the biblical writers said to sound spiritual. They ARE the Holy Spirit !

      Agreed. I dont know why its so complicated to take the text at its face and understand that The Holy Spirit, while being one spirit, has 7 distinct spirits as the text says. The 7 colors is a good analogy, white light is "light" but within "light" are 7 distinct lights.

      I think you got it right! 🤓
      When they were discussing this list in Isaiah 11, they felt it wasn’t a perfect match/explanation because it only listed 6 Titles/Roles and not 7.
      I was considering this with The Lord while listening and He called to mind the Scripture that refers to The Holy Spirit as “The Spirit of The Law of Freedom/Liberty….Who has set you free from the law of sin and death…” in [I believe] Romans.
      It makes perfect sense to me that this Title/Role was not let listed in Isaiah 11 because this attribute was not yet given until after Christ completed The Work of Redemption.
      Would love to hear others’ thoughts/hearing from The Lord.
      I’m just beginning to meditate on this all now. So… not 100% certain about it yet (Haven’t gone thru all of these Scriptures with this specific aim in mind yet).
      But… very COOL! Thanks for making TH-cam comments fruitful! 🥰

    Does anybody correlate the seven torches before the throne in Revelation, with the Lampstand of seven torches in the OT tabernacle? And if so, might the table of Showbread in the tabernacle (the bread of the face or presence) represent the Son of God? And isn't it interesting that Moses was instructed to place the Lampstand so that it illuminated the table of Showbread?

    • @theeternalsbeliever1779
      @theeternalsbeliever1779 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The lampstand indeed symbolizes the church eras, but the purpose of the showbread wasn't just to symbolize Christ. The showbread was also symbolic of the revelation that God distributed to His Church throughout those eras. Christ tells the faithful members of the Pergamos era that they will receive the hidden manna. In Jhn 6:31-35, Christ tells the Jews that He has the true bread that gives life.

    This is my interpretation of the text: in a similar way that the triune God is "one God" and three distinct persons, why is it far fetched (why on earth would it be, I genuinely dont grasp this when we have the chief example in the trinity being One) to read the text as it is and assume that the Holy spirit, while absolutely being one entity, may possess within itself 7 distinct spirits (see reference: The Bible) within it that are "sent out" to roam the earth? It is crazy to me that this interpretation has not been seriously considered in church history when the term 7 spirits seems to speak (quite plainly) for itself. Is it not possible that the singular holy spirit manifests itself (splits itself, makes glorious co-equal copies of itself, however is easiest for you to conceptualize it) as 7 distinct spirits/persons which are capable of operating independently of one another and can be "sent out" as 7 spirits as the text says? The spirit of wisdom seems to me to be operating as its own distinct entity/person in the bible, notably a female spirit, and I would imagine the other 6 spirits (understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge, godliness, fear of God - per septuagint Isaiah 11) operate as distinct entities/persons/personalities while making up one singular omnipresent ineffable spirit beyond comprehension. What would limit The Holy Spirit from manifesting one day to a believer as The Spirit of Wisdom (possessing the fullness of God and Fullness of Holy Spirit) as needed, and manifesting another day as the spirit of strength (also the fullness of the spirit, i.e, *THE* Holy Spirit), and yet another day as the spirit of the fear of God? Is this not indeed how we experience the filling of the spirit, dispensed in different "powers/flavors" depending on the moment's need, or God's plan for our day? We understand when the bible talks about "the four winds" that they are four distinct winds that in total make up "the wind" that fills up the earth, why is it difficult to conceive of the Wind/Ruach of YHWH in the same way? Any time the bible speaks of a spirit, it denotes personhood, for lack of a better example - the spirit of Samuel, or in the same way in deliverance we understand that a spirit of pride is a distinct spirit/person and a spirit of lust is another distinct spirit; why would we not interpret the text plainly that the One Holy Spirit possesses within its glory 7 distinct spirits/personalities/manifestations being intimately "One" spirit? It seems to me to be an improper worldly/mortal limitation on what a God beyond comprehension can and cannot do, and a hesitancy to give the plainly-stated text its proper authority - despite how difficult it may be for us to grasp. This is just my humble opinion but I have yet to see any compelling argument why this is not the most obvious one, other than the inadequate argument that "its impossible", or "it's just wrong" sans biblical evidence. People seem to think this somehow violates the trinity, or makes the trinity into 9 persons, but the *TEXT* seems to argue that the holy spirit is one person & one member of the trinity, while also *simultaneously* being 7 spirits/persons within itself. In my view this should be no more difficult to reconcile than the trinity itself.

      “Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone[a] in the hand of Zerubbabel?” (Zechariah 4). The 7 eyes ranging throughout the earth seems pretty clear that there are 7 eyes (spirits) in 7 different geospatial locations, and that *they* will rejoice when *they* see the capstone (emphasis: they), despite the obvious, concomitant, non-contradictory fact that the holy spirit is omnipresent. I would also posit that the 7 eyes being on the lambs head represents the fact that The Holy Spirit is (very intimately) the literal spirit of Jesus (and The Father), in the same way that Jesus is the right hand of the father. When we consider our own eyes, our eyes are "us", they are not distinct from ourself, just like our right hand is part of our person.

    • @JackFoerster-Hunzicker
      @JackFoerster-Hunzicker 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I feel personally compelled to believe this interpretation due to the fact that upon my conversion moment, I heard a crystal-clear (very) audible, *distinctly* female voice testify that "Jesus Christ the person is God". Prior to that moment, my impression of Jesus was he was an enlightened person similar to Buddha. This "spirit of the testimony of Jesus" (For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy - Revelation 19:10) was the sole agent responsible for my sudden conversion. Hearing this voice flipped my understanding of Jesus immediately (and drastically) upside down and I understood He is the one and only living God. For years I wondered who on earth this female-voiced spirit could be, I thought it may be an angel or just a high pitched voice for some reason - this current "theory" never even vaguely crossed my mind until years later in another intimate moment with God, while standing in front of my make-shift altar to God in my house, when I heard a non-audible word of knowledge in my spirit that said quote "The Holy Spirit is Seven"; and I immediately felt a very noticable presence of a living spirit in my house directly in front of me. That spirit revealed/named itself as the spirit of wisdom (i.e., The Holy Spirit) and at that (exact) moment I had a vivid visceral flashback memory to my conversion moment. It suddenly clicked that the same voice I heard upon my conversion was clearly "Lady Wisdom" / The Spirit of Wisdom from proverbs 8, sirach, wisdom of solomon, etc. I wasnt actively seeking an explanation, it simply fell in my lap and (I sincerely believe) I had a brief, unexpected, direct communion with the spirit of wisdom; and my mysterious conversion moment and the female voice very suddenly & surprisingly made sense in context with the bible. Obviously this is just my personal experience but I testify in the sight of God that it's exactly what happened without any discrepancy.

      @@kirkadams9245 I agree, however I dont feel like we have an adequate pronoun for the greek Pneuma, since I dont find the use of the sparse use of "parakletos" to supercede the predominantly gender neutral language. If we used the hebrew Ruach it seems the correct pronoun would be feminine.

    I definitely lean toward the interpretation that includes genre (apocalyptic literature, prophecy, and epistle) as well as interpretation that considers Revelation’s use of the OT. Further, G.K Beale argues that there are some 250 direct quotes and over 500 allusions contrary to one of the statements made by one of the lecturers.
    However, I can’t discount Dr. Lester Sumeralls thoughts on the passage and his breakdown of Isaiah 11:1-2:
    1. The Spirit of the Lord
    2. The Spirit of Wisdom
    3. The Spirit of Understanding
    4. The Spirit of Counsel
    5. The Spirit of strength
    6. The Spirit of knowledge
    7. The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord
    He goes through the phrases found in the OT. But as pointed out the lists are not all inclusive in Revelation and I would add Isaiah 11 is also not all inclusive.
    I skipped through some of the video and it was definitely a great discussion with a lot of good insight.

    Can I offer another thought on option two? Using the idea of the sevenfold ministry of the Spirit, perhaps we could look at the seven ministries listed in Romans 12:6-8. Properly understood, these all should be operating with a measure of supernatural empowerment beyond human ability (along the lines of 1 Peter 4:10-11).
    My conception of this is that the Spirit is like pure light diffused through a prism into the seven colors of our visible spectrum. It’s all of Him, yet there is distinction in how each aspect is experienced and lived out-perfectly and completely as the Spirit indwelled the human Christ, and now through us as his church functioning together in these seven forms of ministry.

      @dianewoerner6870 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even if the seven gifts of Romans 12 aren't connected to the seven spirits, I do find that they lend themselves to the idea of a spectrum. At one end of the spectrum are the ministries that focus on truth, especially the giftings of prophecy and teaching. At the other end are gifts that focus on people, including serving and mercy.
      What's beautiful about this, however, is that each end of the ministry spectrum needs to draw from the other end. By that I mean, truth really has no practical value apart from its ability to benefit people, and on the other side, there's no way to faithfully minister to people except through the application of things that are true. Maybe that's why in the passage itself these giftings are interwoven.

    I definitely lean towards interpretation that includes genre (apocalyptic literature, epistle, and prophecy), and Revelation being interpreted in light of the OT of which there are some 250 or so direct quotes and over 500 partial quotes. However, I can’t discount Dr. Lester Sumerall’s use of Isaiah 11:1-2, another prophetic book quoted from, and his breakdown of:
    1. The Spirit of the Lord
    2. The Spirit of Wisdom
    3. The Spirit of Understanding
    4. The Spirit of Counsel
    5. The Spirit of strength
    6. The Spirit of knowledge
    7. The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord
    He goes throughout scripture where the phrases are found and discusses there purposes in his book “The Spirits that rule the hearts of Man.” You guys do mention it but his breakdown was interesting and I can’t say I can completely abandon his thoughts. Good discussion nonetheless.
    Isaiah 11:1-2 NASBS
    [1] Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a branch from his roots will bear fruit. [2] The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

    In consideration of what the seven spirits of God means in Revelation, we have to start with the fact that seven churches are addressed up front, all being in Anatolia. The number seven is a meaningful number, but in Revelation the number is first introduced with these specific churches.
    Then when Ephesus and Sardis are addressed directly, these are the only two churches that get an address involving the number seven.
    And the first time the specific phrase "seven spirits of God" is specifically when Sardis is addressed.

    Just a thought I had while listening to this: If seven represents complete or fullness, and since the lamb is seated on the throne and it says in revelation that he had seven horns and seven eyes, is it possible since the horns represent authority and power, they could represent the lambs omnipotence, and the seven eyes represent his omniscience that he sees all and knows all? And technically the lamb is omnipresent through his Spirit while physically seated on the throne, although you could say he’s omnipresent through his body, which is the church on earth. Just a thought.

    The 7 Spirits of God are found throughout scripture. Sometimes isolated in the expression He chooses to reveal Himself for that time and purpose. Other times they are coupled for the same reason. Other times in a fully revelation to express His fullness. In proverbs 24 we see all seven mentioned to show and demonstrate how He builds His house and expands His Kingdom throughout His creation. They are mentioned in ephesians demonstrating the same idea. Colossians does the same thing. Hebrews as well. Light in spectrum demonstrates this reality in nature corresponding to the Spirit. The promise is the Holy Spirit as is the promise of the rainbow in Noah's day. This revelation is foundational throughout creation and scripture.

      Most "Christians" don't understand Revelation because: (1) they don't allow the Bible to explain its own symbols. They try to interpret it, so they only confuse themselves. (2) They reject God's commandments. Psa. 111:10 says that the ppl who obey His laws are granted understanding. As Gabriel told the prophet Daniel in ch. 12 of his book, the wicked will not understand. The fact that they don't understand inherently means their religion is false.

    The 7 spirits of God are actually (2) sets of 3 1/2 spirits so that the last connects back to the first - the spirit of the Lord and the fear of the Lord - can you 'fear yourself' ? Sure, if you think you are not perfectly made I suppose, though we are 'fearfully' AND wondefully made. The pairs are divided between obedience and rebellion. Wisdom (obedience) amd understanding (rebellion / works), Counsel (obedience) and might (rebellion /works), Knowledge (obedience) and fear of the Lord (rebellion / works).
    When one can understand that the Lord is working on us by allowing us to sin (grace) then one does not have the need or desire to judge others for their sin, since in Gis sovereignty, the Lord is still in control. This is the staff & rod, blessings or curses. The law is unbreakable and ALWAYS applied to EVERYONE - know it, have it, or not. See Romans 2:11-14.

      That is not what he said at all!! He said that each member of the Godhead could be further separated into 3 parts.

    If we weee meant to bear His image and have become unholy the reflection of His Glory will an altered unholy reflection for our bodies and spirits are of death!! A real life example of the idea is a cracked mirror and a laser.. the more powerful the laser the perfect the mirror has to be or it will fail! And essentially be eradicated!

    So Benny Hinn was right? God is 9 persons: 7 Holy Spirit, 1 Father, 1 Son? 😅

    • @Charris3140
      @Charris3140 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Benny believes that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit each have their own triune being, therefore making 9. Benny is still completely wrong.

    You guys should check out Hollisa Alewine, The Creation Gospel. And this could be a twofer, as then you could finally have a messianic or Hebrew Roots person on your show instead of just talking about them and break out of your theological echo chamber. 😂

    There is only One GOD not three ,many functions ,attributes,hats abilities God is not a person he is SPIRIT. Your example of the fruit in the tree one fruit many discriptions. A man has many descriptions as well,father, son,husband, brother, coworker, friend etc yet one man.

    Initially I like the podcast. However, the salt lamps and small Calvin statues in the background speaks a lot in my opinion. Ask the Holy Spirit 😊 Lets get rid of any idols and ask God if there is anything we need to change in our lives.

    There's nothing new under the remnant radio. Glad for your thoughts, but get some revelation. You build or shred so many who have put themselves forward. You're a good rear guard sometimes, and other times I feel like you're wearing your hindsight goggles.
