I really don't understand the whole "this season is slow, nothing happens" or that this season is bad, even tho, i don't see why, i've watching this show since 2019 when the first season released, i like how the story builds up more slowly and also see how Homelander goes batshit crazy with every season, episode by episode this guy is a ticking bomb, killing more people and eventualy he will explode and kill a whole crowd just because he can, how that is boring? She’s going to be the one that fulfills the black noir Homelander clone role of pushing Homie over the edge. She didn’t want to join the seven, but she’s smart enough to know Homelander doesn’t take no for an answer so since she’s forced into it, by Homelander she’s going to try to destroy him and burn down the seven so she can go back to being left alone.
I mean, does Sister Sage feel distaste just for regular humans? Given that her powers make her intellectually superior to EVERYONE to such an insane degree, I have to imagine that, to her, the difference between a human and a "supe" is basically the difference between a monkey and a gorilla. The gorilla might be a lot stronger than the monkey, but it's still more or less on the same level (intellect-wise) compared to a person...
I also the contexts in which she brings up the superiority are with the deep which I think it’s pretty clear she’s manipulating to achieve some alterier goal.
I don’t think she necessarily has a dislike for humans. I think that dialogue with Deep was her obviously trying to manipulate him some way. Probably just to help nudge him forward for the things to come and keep him loyal to the team.
She is 100% gonna get lazered by homelander eventually and trust me.. she knows. Why? He's just petty like that. And she has photographic memory. Classic brain vs brawn. Well super brain vs super brawn
@@JamaicanMeCrazy Lex Luthor is a normal human. She already has analyzed Homelander weaknesses. I'm sure given enough time, she'll find something that can be exploited. Homelander is not like Superman though. Powerwise he is more like Rogue in the X-men in term of strength and durability. Superman is a planet destroying super being. Omniman is more comparable to Superman.
The biggest thing with her is that we have no idea how sincere anything she says is. Her comment to Deep saying he is superior could be a genuine belief but it could also be her attempt to manipulate him. Ashleigh's comments are correct so for Sage to just say I think your idea was good makes me feel she's just bullshitting. I suspect there will be a big reveal and she is playing a long game. Just a long shot theory but she could be the one who actually defeats Homelander, if she uses her role to access to research done by God U and the rest of Vaught into Supers she could actually create a weapon to neutralize his abilities.
this labotomy theory make so much sense ... I feel bad I didn't figure it out this theory. thank you @brainpilot for this theory and this video. looking forward to your next videos, hope they will be even more good.
I noticed it, but couldn't figure out what the object was. Saw lobotomized later and it made sense. Kind of a big time... again, blow for Deep, though. Hahah Poor guy
I wonder if she will try to move Homelanders brain into a younger body like a son…or a clone. If not Sage does he will be “just like Caesar” who was killed by Brutus his rumored son meaning Ryan will kill him
The problem with Sister Sage is that she’s only going to be a smart as they can write her. More realistically a person with hyper intelligence is going to be able to set things in motion so that she never dies or puts herself at risk. Why isn’t she super wealthy? Why can’t she engineer a new compound V that effectively makes herself immortal? She could engineer an AI that effectively controls the world on her behalf. I hope the writers come up with something good and reasonably believable.
She's not just intelligent on IQ knowledge level, she's also extremely intelligent on an emotional level. Sure she could have done all of that and lived wealthy beyond measure, though it's indicated she doesn't care quite as much about those things as some do, as for genuine inventions? Again she could do that, though based on what we've seen she doesn't quite enjoy being hyperintelligent, who would ultimately? Being ostracized, being lonely is a fairly common enough experience for someone with a genius level intellect, arrogance too. One quote from Chernobyl sticks with me to this day: "To be a scientist is to be naive. In our pursuit of the truth we ignore how many don't want to hear it." Sage is even smarter than THAT, in that she isn't naive at all! Beyond all those wonderful things she could create for humanity? Why bother if humans are for her stupid? Why risk her life and potentially suffer immensely? Homelander changed the game for her, because he can protect her from ANYONE that can try screwing with her.
I agree. I get that maybe she's dealing with psychological issues affecting her overall lvl of drive and motivation but so far she's been kinda underwhelming.
She did position herself in a low risk situation in her apartment with her books. And she knows that super wealth and political ambition does not create happiness. Doing anything on a large scale would just increase her stress and put a target on her back
People equate massive wealth with happiness. Truth is having just enough to live the way you want without worry is enough. As the man said: " 'Mo Money, 'Mo problems."
The good news is that the base level of dialogue on this show is maybe 7th grade American gym school level, so the writers COULD write her up to their level - C student Emery English grads - and by comparison to the other characters she would be a genius. But they won't do that. Sage is written and is performed no different than Butcher, Homelander, Huey or anyone else. I take that back. She sounds way dumber most of the time.
I actually think shes a bit of a socialpath...Alot of socialpaths are really smart, good at reading ppl and good at manipilating others..and she didnt even blink at those brutal d*ath.
i mean i guess once you become the smartest person in the world there's hardly anything that can really surprise you we can also get into the whole neurodivergent/sociopath argument regarding intelligent. Like the more intelligent you get, the more you are able to see possibilities that have never been available before; morality become a weight. You stop thinking about if doing this thing is wrong, but instead you use your intelligent to solve the puzzle that is "can i get away with doing this thing" "is there a way i can do this without leaving or suffering any consequences" So to us who are less intelligent, we want to cling on to morality and "everyone get what they deserve" because it is how we cope with our own helplessness. So there's a pretty vague line between are most socialpath capable of hyper intelligent, or do we call smart people socialpath because they dont conform to our own helplessness and standard of morality? putting it in simpler term, imagine you have that power to come up with the perfect response everytime, you know exactly how good that response is, you know exactly how the opposite side will react; you know that its so good, they cant even make a good enough comeback to counter your response. Like tell me you wouldnt abuse the hell out of something like that
@@longphan7656 just going to add alil here, sociopathy is a learnt behavior and considering how compound v might have neurological effects besides the way supes get treated, I have two theories - A. Sister Sage is indeed very intelligent yet if you have lot of bad memories & experiences, she is more likely to be a sociopath(or just desensitized coz she realized how everything is messed up so doesn't care anymore) vs HL's mix of God complex+psychopathy. It's highly possible that her intelligence made her undergo an existential crisis and the lobotomy is a way to stop her mind from briefly tormenting her from the terrible memories & experiences (which can be quite painful as it's like experiencing high emotional/physical pain on a daily basis). Plus this behavior is like traumatized people cutting themselves under stress whenever they try to relax but realize that if they don't focus on something, their brain uses the free time to torment them instead. In short, it's possible that she just doesn't care & is rather desensitized (it looks like sociopathy but also lil different) as seen when she meets HL. B. Psychopathy is just outright weird as it lacks empathy and people with psychopathy just can't differentiate between emotional connections. This doesn't seem the case with sage as she does get affected but also is used to knowing that as a supe, vought owns her in private & in public - she has to act a certain way so she also struggles with control. Irrespectively it's possible that she's gotten nihilistic & using HL to destroy this messed up world that made her & feel like an outsider as she won't fit with supes nor the normal. In short, someone said it right that sage is highly likely to be the reason for HL's breakdown as HL is already disturbed whenever he fucks up or has things go south (like him worrying about a white hair). Strangely, kimiko is the opposite of sage - she can also regenerate & literally feels pain as she regenerates so her brain also does it like sage. Yet it seems like she has come to terms with fitting in & is so different now. I mean look at her caring about the team & obviously being so protective about frenchie as she knows she needs him to ground her & made peace with her pain. So season 4 is about to get pretty crazy and only time will tell 🤷🏽♂️
She did fully explain the lobotomy. Entirely. She said she just wants a break from her super intelligence sometimes - like you mentioned in the video. But she also explained that her super healing is not as great as others save for her brain. Her brain will always grow back is what she said.
@@BrainPilot a shame season 4 is woke ... apparently it is meant to get better in episode 4 according to one of a youtuber who got early press access to the whole season. Season 4 has started out badly which is a shame as, 1-3 seasons of the Boys was great

I feel like the writers didn't know how to actually write "the smartest wo.. I mean person in the world" so they kinda just made her the only one who comes up with plans and let the rest just not come up with anything. Like her plans seem basic and pretty easy to come up with
yeah exactly....they aren't showing off her intellect. she just seems like a book nerd....with knowledgge of random facts. should have had her be surrounded by advanced technology or even a throw away line like "she cured cancer and solved efficient fusion for fun but set the research on fire afterwards" to show not only her intellect but also her disdain for humans or "lesser beings" so far she has shown no super human feats....its SUPER intelligence for gods sake....thats like being a higher dimensional being....maybe theres a big reveal later but for now....not impressed
Nah...I think the show is going riff off the evil super-genius archetype. She has plans within plans and will ultimately prove to be the ultimate bad guy of the season, manipulating all the other characters including Vought, the government, The Seven, and The Boys. They may even have to put aside their differences and band together to stop her.
@@coolo73 ahh you might be on to something. I've considered that idea the moment I first saw her but I thought "this is the boys, no way they are gonna ruin this potential by making it a cliche trope" but considering what I've seen in the first episodes this might be the route they are gonna take since they lost all their creativity
I don't know how you guys can judge a character based off three episodes but...ok. Even then, her depiction of intelligence isn't just through plans. She's not just rationally intelligent, we see her utilize her empathetic accuracy every time she speaks with HL. She makes hand gestures, indicating neurodivergence, and the audience can subtly see her playing mental chess with each person she speaks with. She's the Luther to HL's Superman, I just think the roles are flipped.
And you get it! Why can't anyone else?! She literally admits to causing chaos to test herself. She does not care and many fans are being willfully ignorant.
she is my fav supe in the whole show, her power is amazing and i relate to her inability to “turn off” her brain so much, to see a mental struggle i’ve always had depicted in a physical manner like that was shocking but also amazingly relatable and real. hopefully she doesn’t die 😢 but i have a feeling she will
Any time a character has a power that is essentially "ridiculously highly intelligent" we see things come through the writing that reveal quite a bit about who we are. To do it effectively, you have to write in a way that shows understanding of intelligence and what it is. Imtelligence of a certain kind separated humans from the animals, so writers take higher intelligence to be "that which separated us from animals, but progressing further along that spectrum". They also are tasked with making something that entertains, so those things that would be a demonstration of higher intelligence, but are not conducive to watchability, never make it into the script. On top of this, a writer's own insecurities and the potential awakening of insecurities get involved when the natural consequences of ridiculously high intelligence are put on display. Intelligence is tricky to write about. We're all out here doing the best we can, presumably, so if a way of thinking is put on display as evidence of highest possible intelligence, we may feel punished for not trying to learn how to think that way and put it to use. People starve and suffer incredibly due to inadequacies in the effective use of our minds. To wag our fingers at ourselves or others for not pushing our mental abilities to their utmost can be emotionally damning. That said, I'd love to see a team of superheroes, all of whom have the power of superintelligence. We would see interesting overlapping and underlapping of strategies against villains, but also each other. The audience may then recognize how context affects the capacity to employ diverse intelligences, and how specific ways of thinking are directly available to those of lesser intelligence, but selfim put to use. Such a story could have a dynamic impact on the development of an audience willing to grow and change in response to the media they consume. Most likely, such a series wouldn't make it past the pilot.
With her brainpower, she could literally know and practice all the weapon making, tech, fighting shooting, healing, sexual, hunting and tactical skills strategies etc a human of her physical ability can have, performed at the highest level of excellence her mind and body can perform. Lady Shiva+Lady Shiva+Lex Luthor. She could also acquire mastery of magic, psionics, and Ka aka Chi. Think Neo:"I know Kung Fu". Plus evil version of Shuri, T'Challa's sister.
If you like Sister Sage. You need to read and watch any story that has Sherlock Holmes in it. You could also read the web comics "Worm". Sister Sage powers as the smartest person is pretty much the same as Sherlock Holmes or Tattle Tale from Worm.
She’s a great addition to the show because there’s a lot of mystery to her character but we don’t know what her endgame is and what else she has in store. She could possibly be the one to destroy both vought and Homelander while also contributing to the final showdown of Billy and Homelander
Intelligence is a burden beyond any form of weight. With physical burdens you can at least let it go after you collapse or are done with it. With your mind it is an inescapable cage that is always tightening against you.
She is cursed with the greatest burden one can have, not having the ability to turn your brain off and enjoy things. The simple things and mindless fun because unenjoyable, be it a action film, or video game. Like movie critics, she can’t just enjoy something for what it is or have fun. No, she (quite literally in her case) *needs* to dissect, analyze, and over complicate every little thing. Those are the kinds of people most want to spend time around.
What the creators said about her character is that she’s playing 3-dimensional chess and Homelander is just lucky enough to play connect 4 so she’s pretty much steps ahead of everyone even with MM threatening her she knew where to target his weakness immediately just enough to trigger his panic attack
I’m kinda disappointed with how they handled her character. Imo, she should be in a position like Adrian Veidt or Bruce Wayne (yes, I know Tech Knight is spoof of him). Would have also loved if they made her smart enough to synthesize V & isolate the properties that produce what she wants. I’m probably reaching here, but I do believe she poisoned Firecracker, perhaps in an attempt to get rid of Homelander after all the heavy lifting to assume control herself.
One thing I could see happening is Homelander going to her for an idea why she's in her lobotomized state and suggesting something bad that he ends up doing.
The events at the end of S 4 sure made it look like as if she basically did nothing and just messed with Homelander by explaining that the unfolding events were her plan all along. That would be a smart move indeed, proving to herself that she can outsmart a god-like Superhero without actually doing anything. She is the smartest person on Earth after all...
When Sister Sage is first seen in se4ep1 she reads 'names and necessity' by Saul Kripke. Probably is easter egg on Eric Kripke (and probably everyone knows already).
The fact Sage is living as middle class not as Tony Stark is the greatest bid of commentary I’ve ever seen. Which is that having knowledge and applying knowledge are two very different things. Sage is intelligent but has no marketable skills. She has intelligence but is unable to apply it to anything. Science, technology, chemistry, mechanics, physics, all things that she could have been famous for, but she isn’t even able to apply her brain to it. So she has nothing. No job because she can’t get one, no house because she can’t afford one, no friends because nobody likes a know-it-all… all she has is her mouth and mind. But if either were lost, she’ll be nothing. And she knows it. Also I love how Homelander shows that he is smart by getting her to join him with just a few sentences. Homelander may see humans as lesser but he understands their nature and how to use it to his advantage.
Supes do not heal quicker than standard humans. Supes and humans aren't comparable . Rather, supes have regenerative healing that allows them to get up from a point blank shot to the head in seconds to minutes
What if A Train run through homelander like in the beginning ultimately sacrificing himself to make it happen somehow just a thought but highly doubt he could pull it off

She is the only one who knows how to kill homelander and she is setting up the seven, the boys, vaught and the entire city for this. With homelander out the way she has no opposition to take over. She’ll probably end up as a living brain in a jar by the end of the show.
In the long run, survival. Because Homelander doesn't take no for an answer. And in the meantime, some fun with the practical use of power. Meanwhile, she has to figure out how to get rid of Homelander without him or someone else killing her. Now she has the opportunity to study the weaknesses of the entire "Seven" from the inside. With the Homelander dead, she must make sure Ryan doesn't go down the same path. All the more so since it is likely that he will be the one to deliver the final blow. For a certain time, she will most likely be satisfied with the role of oracle and gray eminence in one. (But it is quite possible that one day in the future she will decide to permanently get rid of her super intelligence. Simply because she will want to live a normal life).
You know how I know that she's the smartest person on the planet? Because she tells everyone all the time that she's the smartest person on the planet. Great writing.
I'm always really sceptical whenever you have the super power "super smart" cause the writers can never match up, "smart" is treated way to genericaly, like calling someone the most physical person in the world (does that mean they are strong, fast, enducarnce, etc )unless they cleverly manipulate the world so that the character is always correct, but even that gets super annoying.
I think sister sages knows it is A Train. However, she cant out A Train yet cus it would look even more suspicious. The Seven have many dead members it would raise suspicion that Homelander or Vought is getting rid of whistleblowers.
Okay I’m going to go out on a limb with this, and I could be totally wrong… But what if Sage is actually the shapeshifter… Look it’s clear she the biggest liar/fraud/human hater in the show. It’s because she’s shifted into soooo many people that she learned the deepest darkest nature of all mankind. It could be how she adopted her nihilism. The more memories she gathers, the bigger her brain gets so she needs it scraped out from time to time but some of the memories stay. It could also be why she decided to take the form she currently has… One because she’s overlooked and under estimated , and 2 I believe she decided to stay in this form due to the guilt she has from killing the girl of the form we see. We never truly saw the shapeshifter die, Anne just choked her out. How the heck did she record what singer said and send it to sage 4 stories below the city?? I really don't understand the whole "this season is slow, nothing happens" or that this season is bad, even tho, i don't see why, i've watching this show since 2019 when the first season released, i like how the story builds up more slowly and also see how Homelander goes batshit crazy with every season, episode by episode this guy is a ticking bomb, killing more people and eventualy he will explode and kill a whole crowd just because he can, how that is boring? What do you want to see in a series like this to keep you entertained

@NappydreNap imma be real nothing happened in season 3, everything happened in season 4. I know blah blah writing moments but that doesn't make it good.
The gorilla might be a lot stronger than the monkey, but it's still more or less on the same level (intellect-wise) compared to a person...
i’m pretty sure gorillas are more intelligent than most monkeys but don’t quote me on that

She is 100% gonna get lazered by homelander eventually and trust me.. she knows. Why? He's just petty like that. And she has photographic memory. Classic brain vs brawn. Well super brain vs super brawn

@@TemplarX2 like how lex luthor killed Superman? Ludicrous right? I mean they could write it that way. I doubt it though
After some inspection on her character and outfit, it seems like she is also heavily based on Ozymandias from Watchmen.

it's the same exact thing marvel did to professor X. he take drugs to stop hearing people's mind
I actually think shes a bit of a socialpath...Alot of socialpaths are really smart, good at reading ppl and good at manipilating others..and she didnt even blink at those brutal d*ath.
i mean i guess once you become the smartest person in the world
there's hardly anything that can really surprise you
we can also get into the whole neurodivergent/sociopath argument regarding intelligent. Like the more intelligent you get, the more you are able to see possibilities that have never been available before; morality become a weight. You stop thinking about if doing this thing is wrong, but instead you use your intelligent to solve the puzzle that is "can i get away with doing this thing" "is there a way i can do this without leaving or suffering any consequences"
So to us who are less intelligent, we want to cling on to morality and "everyone get what they deserve" because it is how we cope with our own helplessness.
Like tell me you wouldnt abuse the hell out of something like that
Like Ozymandias / Watchmen. But there have to be a The Boys Twist
Who’s we ?
@@longphan7656 just going to add alil here, sociopathy is a learnt behavior and considering how compound v might have neurological effects besides the way supes get treated, I have two theories -
So season 4 is about to get pretty crazy and only time will tell 🤷🏽♂️

yeah exactly....they aren't showing off her intellect. she just seems like a book nerd....with knowledgge of random facts. should have had her be surrounded by advanced technology or even a throw away line like "she cured cancer and solved efficient fusion for fun but set the research on fire afterwards" to show not only her intellect but also her disdain for humans or "lesser beings"
so far she has shown no super human feats....its SUPER intelligence for gods sake....thats like being a higher dimensional being....maybe theres a big reveal later but for now....not impressed
Nah...I think the show is going riff off the evil super-genius archetype. They may even have to put aside their differences and band together to stop her.
@@coolo73 ahh you might be on to something. Wonder if she will team up with Neuman.
Sister sage has her own agenda ... not helping homelander , or anyone just seeing how far she can go with control.

And you get it! Why can't anyone else?! She literally admits to causing chaos to test herself. She does not care and many fans are being willfully ignorant.
she is my fav supe in the whole show, her power is amazing and i relate to her inability to “turn off” her brain so much, to see a mental struggle i’ve always had depicted in a physical manner like that was shocking but also amazingly relatable and real. hopefully she doesn’t die 😢 but i have a feeling she will
I like how her intelligence manifests in a way that's similar to L and Lelouch as opposed to Batman or Braniac.
She's basically the female Stan Edgar which can be a good thing. We'll see how her character develops.

2:08 oooooh 😅 I thought she murder the octopus and eating that..

3:13 The most Powerful Offenses often aren't physical
Why can’t Marvel do quality like this?
Probably, because its cast was created under the Comics Code Authority. Force of habit.
Because they write intelligent people how they actually behave, not how stupid people assume they behave.
When Sister Sage is first seen in se4ep1 she reads 'names and necessity' by Saul Kripke. Probably is easter egg on Eric Kripke (and probably everyone knows already).

Villain
In all likelihood morally grey like everyone else in this show
Good show, but i wish there was more homelander fight scenes. It was cool seeing him fight soldier boy and mave last season
Just a stupid person's idea of a smart person, right?
Her writing has the same level of Sherlock.

She knows being in homelanders radar she will ultimately be killed by him. She is the only one who knows how to kill homelander and she is setting up the seven, the boys, vaught and the entire city for this. With homelander out the way she has no opposition to take over. She’ll probably end up as a living brain in a jar by the end of the show.
but she said she’d die by being stabbed in the heart. I guess an equivalent would be being paralyzed..
Why is she helping homelander tho, what’s her motive?
Power.
Specifically the power to use her insane intelligence freely.
I think Sage's motivation has not been made clear yet. She's probably playing the long game to bring down Vought or taking over or something.
Yeah there's definitely more to her!
She should invent some mind control tech or find homelanders weakness..
I think she’s just playing everyone, if you had memories from 1 million different people, you’d literally be the smartest person on the planet.
Her brain is the only part of hers that heals fast. Everything else is normal.

You guys want them to write her like a stupid person’s idea of a smart person lol
the people and these comments must have also lobotomized themselves bc theyre slow
I like her I think she’s hilarious and I definitely want to see more of her. I LOVE when she says “cracka”
Yeah she was a great character!
I hope some of these new characters aren't just one offs for the season. It's becoming annoying.
What doesn't make sense to me is how Sage is supposed to be the smartest person in the world, yet she isn't like super wealthy
That's true! Maybe she doesn't care about riches, just knowledge
Because she doesn’t need that much cars or materialistic shit . Money becomes something less valuable to intelligent people
I want it to end at season 5.
It's going to!
Ummm. Great video. I'm in love with Sister Sage. But I'm sure A Train said she only lasted *A MONTH* with Teenage Kix. Not a year.
