Last year I think someone made an Community Server (Insignia) to Replace the Xbox Live for the Microsoft Xbox (Xbox Live shutdown 2010) and now people are able to play Counter Strike, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Dead Or Alive Ultimate etc again! They are all back Online and I was so happy seeing this because that is basically the Microsoft Xbox Version of Wiimmfi and Riiconnect24 I hope this keeps going to other Consoles too like the Pretendo Network for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U games
I mean, you'd be surprised how many people to this day are still, and even more so, dedicated to their favorite older consoles as we have a massive ton of ways to preserve systems and softwares nowadays.

Back in like 2016/2017 freeShop had a pretty sick UI that showed the full eShop description for games with pictures (since it directly stole content including the games off of nintendo's servers). Still consider that to be the peak of the 3DS modding era before pirated games from freeShop got flagged for bans and Nintendo patched away freeShop's bypass. The actual eShop on the 3ds looked pretty but I remember pages taking forever to load and you'd constantly have to click next page to scroll through stuff, kinda like this wii shop showcase

Imagine if you could eventually download custom dlcs from this, making just dance and guitar hero customs easier to access without downloading either custom full game mods or a bunch of wads on your pc.

When I saw the Transfer Wii Points button, it was magical. This takes me back to when I had the Wii set up in my front room and I was desperate to buy some games so I got my Dad to enter his Credit Card information on the Wii and then I shopped. There's some games I wish I had gotten on the Wii back in the day, like World of Goo, but generally I'm proud of what I got.
The Wii Shop Channel was the place where I've downloaded channels like The Internet Channel, Everybody Votes Channel, The Check Mii Out Channel, and especially, when it launched back in May 2008, the Nintendo Channel with it's catchy opening video intro, which thankfully I have reuploaded the original full version of the song as to have it not be lost to time and such. Also I bought My Pokemon Ranch, Dr. Mario Online RX, and Excitebike World Rally when Nintendo Week mentioned it back in November/December 2009. I used to use my mom's credit card to buy Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2, 3, 3+Knuckles, Mario Golf 64, Mario Kart 64, Sonic Spinball, and many, many more, until we got into trouble and I ended up having to delete and reformat the entire console or delete them outright to hopefully get money back (we never did). Nowadays, the Wiiware/Virtual Console/Wii Shop Channel games and such I can get them from one of the uploader's Internet Archive places where I've download the entire Wiiware and Virtual Console collection of games from the Wii Shop Channel Internet Archive and such. And just install them as WADs on the Dolphin Emulator. The problem is that the Dolphin Emulator's Nintendo Wii Bios is very limited on memory, so if you end up having N64 games on there, it'll eat up the Megabytes like CRAZY. This one from what I'm seeing is purely more nostalgia based on what used to work back in 2013 and before the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection/Internet Services shut down in March 2014.
Dude I'm gonna cry. This is so nostalgic for me. I remember when I first got internet and was scrolling for hours through all the games I couldn't buy because I was a small child that didn't know how the online points worked. 2:44

@@morayfryethe servers are still up, they just delisted all the games. The channel "shutting down" just meant you could no longer buy games, you can still install previously bought channels. So the servers are still up, they still pay for them, they just don't list the games for sale anymore.

I love it! There was just something really simple and fun about the old Wii Shop! The Virtual Console/WiiWare was one of my favorite things about the Wii! It is disappointing Nintendo didn't have a Virtual Console on the Switch and opted for a subscription-based service instead.
To anyone who still thinks Larsen didn't do anything wrong: He literally announced in the RiiShop server (when it still existed) that they were collecting everyone's IP addresses. There's literally no need for this as RiiConnect24 uses DNS and WiiLink uses MAC addresses. Furthermore, Larsen tried to silence anyone who brought it up which in turn just made him look worse. There is also the fact that the donation money was used to purchase certain "toys" (you know exactly what I mean). After this, a bunch of evidence of Larsen doing really bad stuff (saying the n-word, sending duck hunt r34 to a minor, etc.) started to surface. A friend of Yoshibyte and I named Coby literally confronted Larsen about saying the n-word, in which he admitted that he did in fact say it. His excuse for saying the n-word was that he had impulsivity (the tendency to act without thinking). There is nothing wrong with having impulsivity, however I don't think people with it just say the n-word on a daily basis. It's common knowledge that the n-word is bad. Continuing on, Larsen threatened to ban Coby from the RiiShop server if he ever brought it up. Once again, trying to silence the truth. Yoshibyte himself also confronted Larsen about him allegedly doxxing people, in which he word-for-word said "if I did 'dox' people intentionally or accidentally I would own up to it and apologize". Considering all the accusations Larsen has to his name, as well as his reputation in the homebrew community, I think it's safe to say that he would not own up to his mistakes. To this day, he has still not apologized for any of the things he has done and in fact denied all the claims. Now for some honorable mentions of other bad stuff Larsen has said: "I licked my sister on the cheek when she was sleeping. It woke here up lol" "I remember my sister got so bored and I tried to get her to play a game. I almost killed her" "I want to kill my mom lol" "Sometimes, I swear, I wanna break my sister's neck" "I tried strangling her" (presumably his sister) Even if none of this actually happened, who the hell just says that about their family? Even people in the RiiConnect24 server (before Larsen stepped down and WiiLink acquired them might I add) knew about how bad he was, and it's finally time people start realizing the truth. One last thing, it's kinda funny to me that this all started just because people in the RiiShop server starting reacting to every announcement with the 🅱 emoji.

Don't want to be the downer but the RiiShop (as of the making of this comment with the Public Beta open) is full of security flaws and there's IP logs inside their servers, as well as their server is very unhelpful and toxic. 🚫Do not proceed to use this service until all problems have been fixed, and do not support these people that can put your privacy at risk very easily

It wasn't the owner dakotha and larsenv some Bozo just access to server. Larsenv is 21 and dakotha is 14 and the members are 14 is just some bozo got access to the server
Don't want to be the downer but the RiiShop (as of the making of this comment with the Public Beta open) is full of security flaws and there's IP logs inside their servers, as well as their server is very unhelpful and toxic.
