after dpf was cleaned and the EGR is off it is mandatory to remap it... even if you want the same power as stock, you have to remap it to "fix" the mixture and adapt to the free flow the cleaning gives
No you don't. The cars don't leave the factory with a blocked DPF. The factory map is fine after a DPF clean, it is able to adapt to the state of the DPF among other things.
@@BluePixelGaming the differential pressure sensor will read that "somethings up" given the free flow after drilling out the dpf, it will not see it as clogged, but will give an "implausible signal value", what can lead to over boost due to lack of backpressure that the turbo was design to live with, also the air-fuel mixture gets screwed after removing the EGR.

@@MrTopielec really, it's just a stage 1 and stage 2. Stage 1 is basically a settings change in a standard car. Adapting air/fuel ratios, timings, egr cycles etc. Stage 2 is where you start fitting non standard parts and changing the settings to suit those parts. The reason some say stage 3/4 etc is because they are meant to happen as you modify your car further. They will be highly customised and require live tweaking. Really though, if you took a standard car, fitted lots of non standard parts, you would jump straight to a "stage 2" although it would be somebody else's 3 or 4 for example. Stages also help tuning firms fire realistic prices and service estimates to potential customers. A 1 for stock. A 2 for performance exhaust, air system. A 3 for upgraded injectors or performance turbo. A 4 for a completely rebuilt engine, custom turbo, other electronic control systems.
I had a remapped B7 - BRE engine meant no DPF and no EGR, managed a whooping 69.9 MPG one day . Was a bit smoky but pulled well. Now moved onto a fully tuned C6.
When I got mine done it was explained to me that when the car leaves the factory the tune is for all fuel types etc around the world. Tuning it to your regions fuel needs. Better quality of fuel with a specific tune is better than a wide open tune for places with less quality from the pumps.

Yes. With the correct derestriction-removals..i.e. DPF/EGR and an economical-map/or "ECO-Map", can see an decent/average say 170 bhp engine, sensibly mapped to around 228bhp averaging a good 50+ break more, with the extra torque to go with it. Then just beef the diff up, to plant that extra torque to the floor and eliminate the dreaded torque-steer and spin....The engine-fault-code will continue until the DPF is "actually" removed. Thats the idea with them being fitted, so the computer fucks up the performance, limp-mode etc....The map will then sort out the computer problem(s)....My mate had an Audi 2.0 TDI..he had a boost-leak problem. Upgrade your boost-hose to a silicone one. I had an Astra-SRI-TDI-Xpack. It had been DPF/EGR removed and mapped, and with or without the "sport-mode" on, mate..it shifted....:)....
Did a custom remap on 2018 A4 Avant 2.0 TDI (150HP model - actual 160HP at the front wheels) last year. The car still sounds normal (kept the idle rev limiter). Kept the torque to 410Nm (was 320Nm) as the clutch is rated to only 420Nm. Power at the front wheels is now 180HP (estimated to be about 210HP at the crank). Fuel efficiency is about 10% better and can pull smoothly in fourth gear from 35kph (was 55kph) and in sixth gear from about 65kph. V-max was a real 205kph (way less than Audi claim), now a real 225kph (indicated 235kph) - tyres were Continental EcoComfort 225R17-50. No additional tyre wear seen since custom remap. Pre-custom tune (standard tune) resulted in 190HP and 445Nm at the front wheels - custom tune made it 'drivable' across the entire rev range.

Just to get rid of regen and dpf don’t need a dyno unless ur want to start making power even then on these if you data log with VCDS you can get it running pretty good just of the EGT’s
Got mine done and its now a beast on the road, 228bhp, fuel economy is similar, but as I live in the highlands and fuel stations are few and far between, and constantly having to go past Camper vans, other than a TTS its the fastest thing ive ever driven, this car works for me, and can keep up with a Porsche up to 3000 revs, but as a Quattro I dont slow for corners, thats where I catch them
Is this to do with the timing angles of the cams? Just done a quick Google of your comment as I don't 100% understand it, is this effecting performance? 👍

You don't need to remove DPF after blocking EGR. Those are not related. The ecu will pour fuel into the exhaust to regenerate. Codes are from blocking the EGR.

Well you can but you dont really need it. My A6 C7 is 177bhp but after stage 1 remap it went to 230. The good thing with remaping disel is getting more juice just from a tune than you would get from a petrol.
Bet it's the vac box (n75) thewy go all the time, and I've seen it cause the mid-range boost levels to drop, but nice to see the guy actually was logging after flashing the file and not just sending you on your way
Yes, worth getting a vac gauge and T'ing into the pipe. Not everything can be done with a laptop, some sensors report a duty cycle, but it doesn't mean that it's actually happening.
Be aware of those siemens injectors on your pd170. Very prone to issues. Find out if they replaced under warranty for the revised ones (still not solid ones like bosch injectors, but they do hold up better then the original ones). Had loads of issues with mine, swapped injectors 3times under warranty. And with all honesty, if nothing is happening before 2000rpm, something's not right. That bv43 turbo spools pretty quick, although I mapped it (myself and not in a car park) I have full boost at 1950rpm
Check with the dealership, the injectors should have been swapped under warranty by now, but if not, have them do it. And be aware of the "labor costs" that they sometimes try to charge, there is a warranty call for the injectors, airbag module and some other stuff I don't remember, so it's 100% free of charge. Other thing that curses those BRD engines is the oil pump. It's just terribly unreliable. Keep a close eye to the oil pressure, if it drops, time to swap the pump. It's a gearbox out job just to remove the sump... and do go for the 2000£ same shitty and expensive pump, use the one from the 1.9tdi pd130, super easy to install and no more oil pressure issues ever again.
you think your boost is holding flat at 2500mbar? It is because you have a 2500mbar map sensor, those logs for boost that he is looking at tell you nothing..just looks good. The turbo didn't sound great to me.. most people that tune these just decalibrate TQ-IQ duration add some boost, they don't recalibrate VNT which is why you will get the turbo spiking..as I said you can't see from the logs that he done.

Hi Brad, get a metal inlet manifold I had similar hesitation issues on my old pd170 , the plastic ones are prone to the flaps sticking and also leaking boost out the bottom left hand side out of the actuator arm which controls the flaps 👍 youl notice the car run better , darkside sells complete kits for around 100 money well spent
@@BWTV they are off the early pd140 engines , good oem+ upgrade its be a fit and forget part , I bet if your in around 3rd/4th gear and put the engine under full throttle load from low rpm youl get a minor power stutter which seems like the traction cutting in but no light flashing, if so this will cure if 👍💪
Before boosting those soot machine you need to clean it back to original minimum . All the intake runner are full of crap to the valve . It minimum need in my opinion a top end rebuild to say its worthy. I did start by exhaust , intake and cleaning already and it feel 2x more powerful already 🤪
My dad fitted the super pro dog bone bush on his Leon fr. it was a insert, lasted a week before he removed it. All vibrations from the engine seem to transfer to the cabin especially when idle. Hopefully you won’t have the same issue as that bush you have looks abit different
If you polybush the snub Mount, don’t get Yellow, mine last 2 weeks, get the red one. I have black and the dash rattles. Also, if your mapping it make sure you convert to 1.9 chain driven oil pump. Mine stripped the hex key and killed the turbo. £2000 later it’s back running at just shy of 240bhp
Really 🤣 why does a new engine mount have to be a complicated buy 😮 will have to fit this yellow one and if it goes I'll buy the red, thanks man 👌 And this engine has had its balance shaft/hex key upgraded with supposedly lifetime warranty. I'll find the company and message to see if it's safe for the map 👍
I had a stage 1 done today on my q5 2.0 tdi 197 bhp. Is it normal for Reverse gear to be stupidly quick. My wife reversed out of our drive this afternoon and it shot out of the drive.. far too responsive. Maybe it’s something we’ll get used to
Its literally impossible to increase the power and increase the mpg, you can't get somethingfrom nothing, to get more power out you have to put more energy in(fuel). I've been told this by more than one remapper before. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. You're mpg increased because it was already waaayyyy down from normal because of the dpf code it caused it to constantly do a forced regen which means the computer tells the engine to use way more diesel than normal to help burn the soot out of the dpf. If you had compared your mpg from say a year ago to now you'd find you're getting worse mpg with the remap. Every remap I've ever got done has ALWAYS had a negative effect on the mpg, and half of them were mild remapps like the one you got done here.
Well, you have said what many don't want to hear. A big issue that I used to see in my car days was that people would neglect their car. So the EGR and inlet manifold would be clogged for example, fuel filter old and air filter aged. Maybe other engine related faults. When they remapped the car, it brought it back up to stock power levels, usually just by overfuelling. So many people I know had very smokey diesels and said "it's because its remapped". Then I would show them mine, decent stage one map, clean inlet manifold, regular filter changes, deleted EGR, and it wouldn't smoke at all and would out perform theirs slightly on the road. The car definitely needs to have some mechanical love before anybody considers a remap. Oh, and being prepared for a new clutch and flywheel is always handy 🤣 Especially in the higher mileage diesels where the DMF is probably already on its way out.
Nonsense. Just because you increase the maximum available power, and, therefore, fueling doesn't mean that you use it all the time. If the torque increases at any given revs then acceleration will improve with no effect on fuel consumption. To achieve similar acceleration to before the remap, less throttle will be needed and therefore fuel consumption will decrease.
Isn´t it a pity to map it so that below 2000 rpm the torque is bad? My Ford 2.0 tdci stays below 2000 rpm most of the time. Only om motorway and quick acceleration it goes higher.
Is it worth remapping? Technically yes. BUT THERE is more Is it Street-legal (depends very much on where you drive your car) If it is street-legal did you get it insured? (in germany almost 50% of the insurance companies do not insure power modified cars evenif they are street-legal) If you get it insured usually to very high increases on an already in comparison expensive insurance. Usually it is much cheaper to buy the highest motorization instead of buying a weaker one and to remap it. In the past (times of the 1Z or AFN) it was different, usually you just have to put the remap to the papers inform your insurance company and everything was fine without any increase in your insurance. But this times are gone since years.

@@ArminVBThe1 If you clean a dpf using a diagnostic tool or on motorway to burn away the blockage the cars sensors will adjust on their own. And does not need a Regen. But if you cut out the dpf and egr then yes does need remap.

Fuel consumption was low, didn't burn oil. I drove it over 100k km's with regular 10k oil and filters change. What is stage 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 ?
@@MrTopielec different stages of remap, stage 1 you don’t need to touch anything on the inside, 2/3/4 you need to start changing stuff
Mine car the same A4 B7 S-line 2.0 TDI just quattro. I removed DPF and EGR with remapping 3 years ago and driving it till now without problems ➿
I had a remapped B7 - BRE engine meant no DPF and no EGR, managed a whooping 69.9 MPG one day . Was a bit smoky but pulled well. Now moved onto a fully tuned C6.
Do a stage 2 i would myself, you still gonna get that mileage because your lowdown torque increases...
Stage 2 is the way 👀🔥

Thanks mate! Appreciated ❤️

3:52 Unplug the small black plastic sensor, which is bolted to the bulkhead!
The snub mount is called an anti torque mount. It stops the engine lifting up, under power

You don't need to remove DPF after blocking EGR. Those are not related. The ecu will pour fuel into the exhaust to regenerate. Codes are from blocking the EGR.
If the egr is deleted completely and not plugged in like mine, it won't regen... Ask me how I know 😂

In the States we just put regular pipes on rather than cutting and welding turds.
Sweet cheers guys, I'll look into this
Be aware of those siemens injectors on your pd170.
Shouldn't really be laggy below 2k revs. When you put your foot down keep it above 2k otherwise you will kill the clutch
Ofcourse, just saying it because that's what it's like I don't plant my foot that low down 😅

Turbo is close to the end.Injectors too....
Rather than remap i would fix it first.

Oh, and being prepared for a new clutch and flywheel is always handy 🤣
Especially in the higher mileage diesels where the DMF is probably already on its way out.
@@robertcook2572 Nonsense!!
Isn´t it a pity to map it so that below 2000 rpm the torque is bad? My Ford 2.0 tdci stays below 2000 rpm most of the time. Only om motorway and quick acceleration it goes higher.
Is it worth remapping? Technically yes.
BUT THERE is more
Is it Street-legal (depends very much on where you drive your car)
If it is street-legal did you get it insured? (in germany almost 50% of the insurance companies do not insure power modified cars evenif they are street-legal)
If you get it insured usually to very high increases on an already in comparison expensive insurance.

2.2 D4D is a shite engine before remapping put any more stress on it and it’ll overheat and crack the head like all the other 2.2s Toyotas worst engine
Turbo swap from 177hp cr is good idea no turbo lag and can full boost from 1500rpm
I've just had a stage 2 hybrid turbo fitted in my 2.0 TDI quattro. Had a remap but I have oil pressure light flashing and in limp mode at the moment. The coil light is on and idling at 1100rpm and sounds louder than it originally sounded. It's had a EGR delete but I think the dpf is still in it. I've been told that it's just the oil pressure switch. I will have that done. But is there any thoughts as to why it's idling higher than it used to.
What happened in the end
If you were nearer you could always have a go in mine and see what you think.
Careful upgrading engine mounts, they can be really harsh.
What year REG is your audi avant mate?
Smart guy very interesting I hate dirty diesels yet I still buy them 🙄
Mate I got this 2.0 tdi 170 but the saloon version in the same colour, was debating re mapping it. Did you do anything else to it after mapping? Or is there anything you'd recommend doing?
He removed the EGR and "cleaned" the DPF
I want to remap my golf mk5 1.9 tdi if I do a stage 1 map would I need to upgrade anything else ?
No, stage 1 is just tuning a standard car with no other upgrades
@@BWTV i have been told with a stage 1 map you need to upgrade the clutch as the standard clutch can’t handle the power gains from the stage one map
@@hussainiqbal6624 This definitely applies to the 6spd DSG, which is limited in its torque capacity. It can be mapped to handle extra torque, though.
Love how you dont incriminate yourselfs
Hi had my egr deleted and had remap done tho do you think I should have my dpf deleted to and removed
if its been mapped out of the ECU it should be okay
Dyno or didn't happen! :D
Could you show the idle problem? I have the same car(2007, BRD) and I am also having problems with uneven engine idle when it is half way warmed up. It is idling good while cold and while fully warmed up only when the coolant temperature is about 60-70 degrees C it bounces. No faults on VCDS, no idea what is wrong with it.
I'll Dyno it soon! And the idle issue was on the corrado, that's a weird issue you have! Haven't heard of it before. Maybe one of the temp sensors?
@@BWTV If you have any tips that could I check on VCDS I would be grateful. On first sight everything looks alright.
@@BWTV This looks like my problem, however I have it only with specific engine temperature. If also stops when disconnected MAF, so first thing I bought new MAF sensor, but it didn't help. Also MAF values are good. Without MAF it runs on default values, so it might be some kind on temperature sensor, but I have no idea where to look.

Is it worth to do a stage 1 on a passat b6? 2.0 103kw
Yeah I'd say so
@@BWTV alright thanks 😁
Hi mate just to let you know my blue volkswagen golf vr6 4motion got slolen ive just bought a black one had to get another one nice audi
So sorry to hear that mate! Glad you found your next one 😀👍
What was the costs involved
Holy shit, why are you able to do this in the UK?? If you would drive past a police car in Germany and there would be a tiny amount of black smoke coming out the exhaust pipe, your car would be shut down straight away.
Jokes on you, got rid of my stupid 1series and got myself a 1.9 TDI, blowing black smoke everywhere and police didn’t notice cuz they’re gay
You ever put this on the dyno?
Anyone done a stage 1 on a 2.0 tdi ultra A6? Inputs appreciated.😊
Your shake sounds like a carrier bearing on the prop shaft. ✌
Forgot you're front wheel drive, no prop shaft, oops my bad. Lol
What engine have you ???
