    I am taking all your guys advice and will be diving into things to see if it fixes the issue I have with it soon.
    Things I'll be checking:
    Fuel filter, boost leaks, injectors, heat soak.

      do u still have your dpf ? If i understand correctly u have a bit of a jigglish/power loss/delay before the motor reacts ? i had a similar problem on my BRD 170hp tdi, the problem was when the car enters thermal regeneration on the dpf ,it had the same issue on any rpm. If the thermal regen was off there was no problem. check it with obd11 in real time data.

      One of the easiest ways to find boost/vacuum leaks is to get a piece of small diameter flexible but hard plastic hose (B5 Passat vacuum hoses are perfect)& run the engine whilst listening at one end of the hose as you move the other end along each of the pipes in turn
      It will soon show up

    At low rpm, the swirl flaps closed allow high velocity air into the head still. As rpm increases air velocity increases, swirl flaps can open which then allow full air flow with high enough air velocity.
    Which is why, when with just fully open ports, you just loose low end torque.

    If it feels rough with the powerflex snub mount, adjust the base plate so no part of the rubber touches it. You'll barely feel the engine at idle and find yourself checking the tacho to make sure you haven't stalled out. Also, it will benefit from being tuned because you've changed the airflow.

    First rough start seemed like it was a weak battery, however every start from now on it may be slightly rougher as I'm pretty sure it uses the flaps as a slight 'choke' rather than adjusting the fuel inject quantity

    It's mad to see you teaming up with darkside, been following them for years. Ryan's easily one of the most knowledgeable in the VAG tdi tuning scene. Planning on doing some interesting stuff to my new pd150 mk4 soon, using a lot of their videos, blogs and parts for help. And a lot of your vids from your 1.8t too.

      @@rh9224 True, but if you look at the quality and the level of R&D they do on their parts, you can see why they cost more. To me, the premium they charge, makes up for the increase in quality, when compared to some of the poor quality alternatives from competing companies.

    Hi there, I suggest you to change the glow plugs and would be a good idea to check the engine mounts included snub mount and gearbox mount as well. Both can cause hesitation and rough start. I have a 1.9 pdtdi, suffered with these symptoms and changing the mentioned parts above the issue is gone. Have a good one! :)

    flaps are there to alter the intake runner length for power at low rpm am high rpm so removing them will loose you power somewhere in the rpm's.

      @@jamboheart2039 hell no, i have a BRD 170 too, the flow is pretty much the same the engine dont need any adjustment. just dont drop too much gunk in the cylinders or startup is horrible and smokes crazy. if any other questions dont be shy !

      Cheers Kurdish, I’ll see how it runs for now although I have had fault code 012546-motor for intake manifold flap (V157) pop up.
      Car has been a total money pit mate

      @@jamboheart2039 hi i fell you, what you have tho is not related to this flaps in video. Try unplugging de throttle body spray brake clean, delete codes and try. If not working try messing with electronics of this flap, or change the piece it should cost 50€ maximum.

    hey, best regards from Norway, i have just bought B7 a4 avant, 2x S line quattro with 265.000Km on clock, 1st owner, all services and maintence done by audi service here, now me as a second owner want to keep it good looking and in shape, need couple a tips as for my first car ever. interested in those driver seats if i can find them too . :-) keep up the good work for us audi fans

    i think with the swirl flaps is there is a vaccum within the actual manifold itself so essentially if you remove them then the vaccum needs more time to accumulate as the area is bigger

    Hesitation maybe the exhaust sensor, sure one friend had the bmn pd170 engine same as mine after fitting new exhaust sensor it didn't hesitate.
    My plastic manifold sounds ruff with the swirl flaps so I'm looking into the bkd manifold to get rid of the swirl flaps some say the engine runs smoothly, i don't have power issue mine spins 2nd and 3rd no hesitation just after 3000 rpm min seem like a calendar month getting to 4000 rpm where as when i first bought it reved very quickly through every gear.

    Some do on the transverse 1.9 the snail intake .
    My ford has a complicated intake that uses 2 length runners one long one short and a actuator to switch from one and another based on rpm . Which is annoying when it breaks

    I find with my b7 avant that when changing gear to keep the revs up, yes it will wear your clutch more but it goes well 😁

    Hello , ive a a6 2007 2.7 with bad intake manifold code . Car consume 10 lit in 30 km city , does it consume so much becouse the intake manifold ?

    I had the exact same car and done the exact same mods as you as soon as I had the car mapped it done the same as yours and I never got to the bottom of it I even replaced the turbo and it still hesitated maybe its just one of those things but I know it only started doing when I had it remapped

    Deleted my inlet runners on my astra h , I notice minute more intake noise, plus engine revs up quicker. Yet to see any fuel economy gains

    if you dont have this flaps in your manifoil in working order you will get a fault code and you engine are weaker on the bottom end, i have this engine and the flap are good but you have 2 clean them like in a service so they dont get stuck

    Nice car I had similar issue with my 1.9 TDI since using revive turbo cleaner it's alot better you might need to get a smoke machine on it to be able to find boost leak

      1-2k is a considerable loss of power then builds up to a much more punchier kick at 2.5k. Altho there Is less power earlier on, it drives much smoother

      @TuberYou-eh4oy if they have the plastic flaps get rid of them, otherwise it runs the risk of degrading and being sucked into the engine. Plus the big kick in power is more fun 😆

    Judders most likely injector loom 1st thing to do is remove the cam cover remove the injector connections and tighten up the tiny female connections that connect onto the injectors. if that does not sort it replace the injector loom

    What power should this car be running now after the egr delete and map? watching the speedo on your first pull seemed like it was still running almost standard power, I had massive problems with my a4 170, have you put it on a dyno yet? Mine ended up having 133bhp "fucked"

      Should be near 200, can't really say it feels like it though with the hesitation it's got going on. So hard to sense the power when it's only got from 2-4k of power 😂

    Well done brother! Personally I'd be looking at the map next....speak to darkside and see if they can map it for you, would also create some good content , it's not always about the power gains but more drive ability, darkside would also confirm about the internal boost limiter on those ecu's and the "pd stutter" 💪👊👍

    Another good mod, tho I do believe that hesitation could be the clogged vnt or the bad n75, also noot DV or blow off on a car with a vnt turbo :)

    Got an a4 saloon with the brd engine (170) just hD it remapped after having the oil pump drive replaced and now the car hesitates around 3k rpm in 4th 5th and 6th, changed fuel filter and done the egr delete and still does it.. if you find out what is causing it please do an update video.. keep up the good work 👏

      I have a problem with mine, around 2 000 rpm it's choking I just replaced the EGR valve, the DPF filter ben removed before I've bought the car. Still can't find the issue. Any thoughts?

    Nice video dude. I have the same problem. That is, if the butterflies are removed and it is constantly left open, there will be no problem that more air will go to the turbo; It will also have a difficult start each time; I want your help thank you.

      So I believe from researching this issue, it is the engine speed sensor. I'll be changing this on the weekend and getting the video up next week so hopefully that resolves it! 🤞

      @@BWTV Thanks for your answer. I will wait for you although I think you should not change the manifold and put without butterflies because I believe that putting more air in the turbo would create a problem.🚘👍🏻 in the meantime my car is with cvt transmission

    Take the intake back off and clean the backs of the intake valves with brake cleaner and a nylon bottle brush that should solve the hesitation

    It least looking at your hands you can easily say that you made the test after the work:D. Well i know it may be silly but try diesel injectors cleaner additive to the fuel. It may help with that issue and economy. Cheers mate.

    Get it engine carbon cleaned will make a big difference 👍🏽 will clear carbon from the turbo and intake and exhaust valves so will be smoother and more responsive after 👌🏽

    So far, you have done every mod i did for my audi. I sunk 3k in to the car. In mods and problems.
    If you remember, I told you to sell it when you told us you bought a b7
    It'll be a bottomless pit otherwise.....

      @@BWTV you could get a boost gauge feed from that blanked vacuum hose.
      You'll find if you revert back to a standard map, most of the problems you have like 3k hesitation and hard starting will disappear

      Usual issues but there old cars now I have same car n love it I got rid of a s3 8l for family reasons n love it wish I got the rs4 though they to are a money pit

      Hi Steven, I have the BRD engine, got my mechanic to change the inlet manifold. Would I need to map the car now to delete software? My mechanic said no need to map it. What’s your thoughts mate?

    I got the same engine on A6 the flaps are not a problem on them engines i think the flaps are made from metal . BMW have that problem, flaps are made from plastic.

      @@BWTVI normally put it in at the fuel filter, about half a bottle. Although they recommend putting small amounts in the tank. I think it's stronger when u put it in at the fuel filter. I'm sure it will cure the hesitation issue

    It made absolutely no difference to how my engine ran, tickover or at speed.

    You have a metal intake, the problem one are plastic, you did not have to replase your intake. Plastic one can fall apart, aluminium one not.

    Delete the egr thats beter for the engine.
    After the delete of the egr, the engine wil sound beter and the gas response is beter. I have done it on my 2.0 TDI en the engine has now 350.000 km on the teller and is stil going everyday

      @@BWTV ive had boost issues and ive had them with the intercooler pipes on mine (they are custom welded ones and they needed tightening) , hardest thing to diagnose boost loss good luck ;)
