As a parent with a daughter in softball... She knows if it’s unsportsmanlike she won’t have to worry about the coach I already told her she would be benched by me her dad. I would rather see them lose and show respect and be a class act then act like that. We take pride in our team showing respect. Win or lose. Some injuries last a lifetime.

What the runner could have and should have done is to slide and take her feet out from under her. She would have been safe and the catcher would have a hard fall on her butt. Of course, and people forget this, these are kids and their ability to "think on the fly" is not quite where it will be in a few years.
I try to be a mellow fellow, but if I was the coach of the team who had two girls essentially sucker-punched, I'm of half a mind that I'd tell the third girl to plow into the catcher so hard, people will forget about the Pete Rose/Ray Fosse collision in the '71 All-Star Game.
I remember when we had a similar situation like the last video. Catcher kept blocking the plate and giving guys a shoulder check if you didn’t try going around him. Difference is we had someone on the team who had no problem running him over. One home plate collision later, catcher was crying and their coach was yelling at ours “teach your guys how to play baseball!” … we won, 20-8.

I coached youth baseball for 12 seasons and if I had ever caught one of my players pulling that crap, they would have been benched and there would have been a serious come to Jesus moment with the player and parents. No excuse for intentional actions that could injure a player.
oh i am the one who has no problem running over players who do this. being in sports for so long teaches you to know when that kinda shit is intentional. if a player is in the baseline accidentally, i never try to do more than a nudge or slight bump that isnt overbearing or more than necessary. if i dont get the call, oh well. but in this instance, oh ive slammed straight into them. i remember we were in a suuuuper close softball game last highschool ball season, and the catcher did this every. single. time. in the baseline, right in front of home. even if the ball was in the outfield!!! so after trying to warn her several times by bumping/slightly less than shoving her, i just slammed right into her. keep in mind that i only slammed into her this time bc the ball was in the infield, and she "could have" made a play for me. but she was not in possesion of the ball, and she was right in front of home. so, BAM. i got up, tapped home, and jogged to my dugout. the catcher on the other hand, couldnt quite find her breath for a few moments... 😁
As a sports coach, camp counselor and prison minister since 1970, I can tell you there is no need to worry. If the kids are not taught to do well then I will have them as a captive audience in prison ministry where they will not have distractions and have plenty of time to learn to do well.
Congratulations to the coaches and parents of these featured players. You have succeeded in teaching these players how to play. I umpired for many years and was shocked to see little to no umpire intervention in most of these clips. I would have immediately ejected most of these as they were flagrant rules violations and would have recommended suspensions to the ruling league officials. Also coaches need to be sanctioned or a least be required to complete rules and safety training and/ or refresher course.
If I were a coach for the player on the receiving end if this s, I would have gotten myself ejected. Sometimes it's the duty of a manager or coach to get themself ejected when the opposing team or the umpire is clearly in the wrong.
I agree. Those all called for immediate ejections. Not sure where most of these happened, but our state athletic association restricts a coach to the bench when a player gets ejected.
I have umpired baseball for over 20 years. Some of the examples here are marginal at best but mostly well outside the bounds of incidental contact. I saw at least three umpires that witnessed the incidents of contact and did nothing. It is up to an officiating crew to monitor this and make it clear that these incidents are not allowed. The umpires, for the most part, should be ashamed for permitting this type of behavior and should not be allowed to officiate at any level!
@@timmyt1232 An umpire has only so many tools with which to control the behavior of the teams in order to have a fair and relatively safe contest. Allowing this kind of behavior invites retaliation and it doesn't take long to lose control of the entire situation. It is not hard for actions like this to lead to out and out violence by the players, coaches, and fans. So, timmy1232, it takes a pair to step in, make the right call and defend it. Ignoring calls like this is usually done by pussies such as yourself.

Yeah, second one was a clean play. It looked like a hard tag cause he had to be sure he held on to the ball. If it gets knocked out the runner is safe. That’s why the tag is so rigid and deliberate. It was a good play though.
bullshit, the runner was in the lane in foul territory, he caught the ball in fair territory and threw his body and shoved off on the runner throwing him to the ground...nothing sportsmanlike about that...period...done. He could have done a simple tag on him, but no he shoves him to the ground after going out of the way to bowl him over. I have umpired baseball for twenty years and I would have thrown out that catcher on the spot. What she did was inexcusable and dangerous to the runner. Many times I told coaches that they coach but between the lines I'm in charge. I've never put up with disrespect from from any coach or player. I'd rather quit umpiring than allow these shenanigans.
Is no need for that with the catcher. You handle that on the field during the game or you let it go. The first thing you do is wait for the ump to do something. If that doesn't work you tell your players that if she is in the baseline when you are coming home to take her out. OR have your pitcher take her out the next time she's up to bat.
The last clip, if I was the coach, I'd have instructed my players to level that catcher regardless of the repercussions. She needs a lesson taught to her.

NO UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT on #10 @0:20 - the throw took him up the line. He went to apply a tag... umpires call that a "trainwreck." Sometimes it happens and is unavoidable.
After seeing how that catcher at the end was playing if I was the third person in that situation, well let's just say that left knee would have some screws in it.

When I was 15, a catcher did that to one of our base runners when there was absolutely no reason to do it and it was much worse than what that female catcher did. 2 innings later , I rounded 3rd even though the ball was going to get to the catcher way before I got there. I just zeroed in on the catcher, who had the ball and was grinning at me....that grin turned to dismay when he saw I was going to put my 185# body through his 150# body......and I did....he was knocked out, dropped the ball, and I scored. Of course I got beaned my next at bat but we were ahead by 12 (no mercy rule back then) so I didn't care.
As an umpire I always took the opportunity to use these types of incidents to teach the players to be respectful. Oh, yes, they got tossed and the coach as well if they got lippy. I got hurt and couldn't play anymore so this was a sore spot for me as an ump. Dirty players taint the ones on their own team who've been taught better.
Agreed. The first baseman left his feet to make a play for the ball, which was thrown high, and when he landed the batter/runner was right there. It looks like he did push the runner, but I think that was more self defense from the runner running into him.

Pretty simple with some. It’s called malicious contact. The player is kicked out of the game. As an umpire I have definitely given players the hook for this.
When we played at nationals one year in travel ball, this team was taught to pick up two fistfuls of dirt when they reached base and throw it in our faces/eyes if there was a play at one of the bags. I don’t remember the final score but I do remember that we were the champs that year 😁

OR, if she was going for it an accidentally ran into the runner, it was clean but still interference and the runner was safe. A bit tough to tell if the SS was trying to interfere or just lost track of space and ran into the runner accidentally.
To be fair, aside from the catcher in final clips (yes, she did that twice in the same game), we didn't see enough of the aftermath to know whether or not there were actually elections.

yeah, I get missing it the first time, he had other things to watch but he seemed to see *something* out of the corner of his eye, not sure what it was, but the runner is on the ground. I'd be watching F2 like a hawk after that.
That was tough to watch and that series of catcher UC’s has been online for a few years. Just can’t miss the second one if you’re staying home for a potential play then you have no responsibility until they cross the plate. The fact that the catcher barked at the second runner should have been a big red flag there was intent to injure but everything is on film now so that catcher is now infamous for being dirty.
How did the coach not get in the umpires face after the first one? If I'm the coach coach the girl who gets knocked down, I'm out there livid yelling that the catcher should be ejected. That umpire should be ashamed.
My daughter plays and there was a catcher who forever stood in the baseline trying to make runners go around her or she basically checked them. My daughter ran her down like a freight train. She no longer stood in the base line.
If you are coming into score and the catcher has the ball all bets are off. Do what you have to to score. Especially if he is blocking the plate. If there is no play at the plate leave the catcher alone and score. There is no demolish the catcher. That just shows unsportsmanlike conduct; period.
That catcher has been doing that for awhile. One foot on line making it seem like not intentionally blocking plate forcing runner to choose to go a few feet around and lean making easy target for elbow or legally bulldoze her for blocking plate when ball is nowhere near. I used to coach. I was thinking the exact same thing. The second the play was over, with the runner being safe. I would have called time and removed her from the field and team.

The last part of the clip involving the catcher in the softball game is really about the head coach. In my view, the catcher's behavior reflects on the coach. When the opposing players/coaches comment about the catcher's behavior on the diamond, they should clearly acknowledge that it reflects more on the coach than on the catcher. The behavior displayed by the catcher is NOT the default behavior of a young person but is reflective of what they learn from adults and other authority figures (including the player's parents).
As an umpire, I would have tossed the catcher and the coach. I hate writing reports, but not as much as seeing players intentionally trying to hurt other players while doing an illegal action.
Coach definitely should have pulled her after the first one, but what do you expect. The school, after media pressure, gave her an undisclosed punishment, but then refused to even denounce it, making a point to call her a 'great young lady'.
In the last clip,the catcher is guilty of obstruction, she cannot block the plate without posession of the ball. The runner shall be declared safe and the catcher should have been ejected for malicious contact per NFHS rules.
I played a lot of basketball late 70s thru maybe 1986. That was when the game was a lot more physical. I never at any point tried to hurt an opponent. I played rough but not cheap shot dirty at all.
b-ball is not as rough as it once was, but there's a very dirty play thats been going on for 30 yrs and just now is being called in the NBA. WHen a jump shooter goes up, the defender walks up to the shooter with hands up but their intention is to have the shooter land on the defenders feet. Thats been going on for way too long. If you are trying to bother the shot, you jump to the side of them for better reach on their shooting hand.

As a coach I would have the next player running home to completely steam roll the catcher. Full speed, elbows up and out front and just cream her. It would be her own damn fault and I wouldn't shed a tear. If the refs won't call a fair game, I am definitely going to do something about it to protect my players by taking one of theirs out of the game, hopefully. I have been an amateur coach before and have various levels of qualifications for referee and umpiring in four sports. Although there were a few unfortunate events, like that girl getting in front of the runners line before the first base pop-up, most the really bad ones were obvious, and the video shows an ump standing right there in clear line of sight, and multiple times with that last cheating catcher.
That one where the runner hit the girl making a catch was blatant on the runners part. Giving the fielder enough room to make the play is one of the first things you're taught in regards to base running. If I'm the ump that player is ejected immediately.
One thing I've always used as my sports philosophy is Play the game right. But if the other team is cheating or bullying, then use their methods against them. It always, 100% of the time drives them insane and they become whiners and crybabies. It becomes entertaining, you get some revenge which, despite some people's forced Hollywood beliefs is NOT always bad, and you often win because the other team loses focus. Of course, it depends on what the other teams is doing, too. Some things are just Out-of-Bounds.
I played baseball all through highschool, had a baseball scholarship to play college ball but was just not ready to go onto school so went to the Marines, bit missed baseball and a buddy asked if I would want to ump. He got me started on fast pitch softball, and let me tell you that is a totally different ball game. Fast paced and you ladies get mean and turn all Petty Betty hahaha it gets wild on the field sometimes hahaha I love it hahaha

Why shouldn't she be given another chance? I don't think you should punish a kid for the rest of her life for something stupid that they did as kids. It happened 4 years ago and the girl, who was a junior in High School when this happened, has moved on. I hope that she learned something (maybe paying those student loan bills for the next 15 years will remind her to not be stupid) from it and is a good citizen.
That was not a "tag" when both arms are used and there is a clear intent to hurt or injure. A tag is simply with the glove and step out of the way ....which is NOT what happened. And it can clearly be seen that the "tough guy" is crying ...so probably got ejected ....so the umpires obviously do not share your opinion.☺☺☺☺☺
Two were actually clean plays that just ended up in rough situations unfortunately. Those happen sometimes. As a parent of the players involved it would be hard not to call foul, or if you're the coaches. The baseball tag play at first base was a hard play but actually clean when watching it in slow motion. The short stop and runner colliding on the ground ball is on the runner as the defensive player has the right to make the play on the ball. The short stop looked to have caught the runner in her peripheral vision and tried to pull up/stand up to avoid a bad collision but ultimately they hit causing the runner to fall.
@hexsystem7891, the play closely resembles your description but in the slow motion second view, the ball appears to pass out of the fielders reach AS the fielder is looking at the runner and throwing both arms into the runner. He wasn't playing the ball.

It is only going to get worse until those it happens too decide to dish out instant justice. Jump straight up and rock the persons jaw. People are getting far far too comfortable disrespecting others. My 8yr old has already been instructed to be respectful always but the instant anybody disrespects you he has our full permission to handle business as he see's fit on the field, off the field and at school.

The umpire's need to be taught how to handle the situation properly. The last girl that was catching should have been trusted from the game for interference, as with a lot of the other players. I was a ump for a lot a years and I had no problems throwing players out of a game for not following the rules. I threw out a few coachs as well. I just called what I saw and never favored anyone. That's what a ump is supposed to do.
I played Little League, umped Little League, and I played Senior League baseball I also played underhand fast-pitch, and slow pitch softball and was an ump for many of those years 25 + years I umpired. The girl running to first base should have been ejected from the game and the catcher that knocked over the two Runners should have been ejected from the game for obvious blatant disregard for the safety of others. Other incidents that happened there should have been warnings issued, and a couple should have just been warnings but unsportsmanlike conduct has no place in sports. These are games that you play, and if it's so serious to you that you need to cheat or hurt someone there's no place for you in the game...... PERIOD!!!!!! If you can handle losing then you must not be handling life very well because life is a 50-50 win-lose challenge for everyone. If you love and respect the game these things should never happen.

I was thinking the same, especially the girl running into the 1st baseman waiting for the pop-up. If I was her parent, I would have grabbed her and taken her off the field.
When I assembled a team, I studied that rule book. I was prepared for cheaters and unfair umps. I would tolerate neither, and had to deal with both. Assembled from the ever-changing "Wants To Play" list posted on the bulletin board at the county softball complex, I hand-picked each player...total strangers...Named the team Warriors and chose In The City as the Team Anthem...I chose Co-ed because all men's teams often have too much testosterone...and I was already 37... My players were all chosen because I liked their vibe; talented, yet humble and eager to play...and experienced. They also knew the rules, and often played on their respective all-male/female teams. Our first three years, we took home 1st Place trophies ('96, '97 & '98.)
I would have liked to see some ejections for those plays, but nothing shows it happened. Blocking home plate when the ball is not even coming in, much less in time for a play? EJECTION for rough play. Learn some rules and manners.

There are some dirty LL & HS coaches out there and parents who call on the kids to play dirty. It’s disgusting and one reason my son stopped playing after his junior year in HS along with a lot of the kids he played ball with since t-ball. It wasn’t about playing, being part of a team and doing your best. It always the win no matter the cost and the “I scratch ur back you scratch mine attitude”. Sad 😢
Getting your legs tangled up is not a crime. Protecting the ball is not a crime. The catcher was the only serious offender here... she did it twice. Lucky she didn't get plowed. Although, the uniforms in example #2 was downright criminal also.
The LLWS play at first (second clip) was not unsportsmanlike at all. It was just a baseball play. The shortstop interference (softball) wasn't unsportsmanlike either. Just a baseball play with interference.

The second runner coming home against “elbows” the catcher had a good opportunity to send a message but she took the high road. Her parents and coaches should be proud.

When I played baseball/softball, if this shit happened, there would be a bench clearing brawl. Punches would be thrown, lips would be split and blood would flow. When everything was all said and done, both teams knew that no more shit would be taken.
Maybe that’s why there’s a problem with that play!!! You probably played that same way!!! Baseman standing on the baseline getting ran over, is baseball/softball! When the player at the base is in the baseline path, they take responsibility for their own placement, the runners aren’t supposed to run out of line with the bases! But when you have players throwing elbows at runners when the ball is nowhere near them, that should be immediate ejection from the game and possibly other game suspensions!!! To continue to allow that player to remain in the game is tantamount to approval of their actions!!!
Playin right means, when the umpires don’t handle rough play, the players have to step up, and handle it on their own, if they want it to stop. Ain’t no cryin in baseball/softball
The second one is NOT unsportsmanlike conduct. Neither is the third one. Nor six. The blue pants catcher needs to be ejected for violent obstruction. The person that thinks ALL of these are 'dirty' plays, needs to stay away from sports.
The fifth and sixth ones are both player interference on the base runner. #6 should also be an ejection for plowing over the first baseman while making a play on the ball...

( m.mlb.com/glossary/rules/fielder-right-of-way ) Rule 5.09(b)(3). i.e. the runner cannot interfere with a defensive player in the act of fielding a 'batted ball'...as was the case with the popup to first base. Difference is we had someone on the team who had no problem running him over. One home plate collision later, catcher was crying and their coach was yelling at ours “teach your guys how to play baseball!” … we won, 20-8.
Payback is a biotch !!! I coached youth baseball for 12 seasons and if I had ever caught one of my players pulling that crap, they would have been benched and there would have been a serious come to Jesus moment with the player and parents. No excuse for intentional actions that could injure a player.

oh i am the one who has no problem running over players who do this. being in sports for so long teaches you to know when that kinda shit is intentional. if a player is in the baseline accidentally, i never try to do more than a nudge or slight bump that isnt overbearing or more than necessary. if i dont get the call, oh well. but in this instance, oh ive slammed straight into them. i remember we were in a suuuuper close softball game last highschool ball season, and the catcher did this every. single. time. in the baseline, right in front of home. even if the ball was in the outfield!!! so after trying to warn her several times by bumping/slightly less than shoving her, i just slammed right into her. keep in mind that i only slammed into her this time bc the ball was in the infield, and she "could have" made a play for me. but she was not in possesion of the ball, and she was right in front of home. so, BAM. i got up, tapped home, and jogged to my dugout. the catcher on the other hand, couldnt quite find her breath for a few moments... 😁

As a sports coach, camp counselor and prison minister since 1970, I can tell you there is no need to worry. If the kids are not taught to do well then I will have them as a captive audience in prison ministry where they will not have distractions and have plenty of time to learn to do well.
Congratulations to the coaches and parents of these featured players. You have succeeded in teaching these players how to play. I umpired for many years and was shocked to see little to no umpire intervention in most of these clips. I would have immediately ejected most of these as they were flagrant rules violations and would have recommended suspensions to the ruling league officials. Also coaches need to be sanctioned or a least be required to complete rules and safety training and/ or refresher course.

If I were a coach for the player on the receiving end if this s, I would have gotten myself ejected. Sometimes it's the duty of a manager or coach to get themself ejected when the opposing team or the umpire is clearly in the wrong.
I agree. Those all called for immediate ejections. Not sure where most of these happened, but our state athletic association restricts a coach to the bench when a player gets ejected.
I have umpired baseball for over 20 years. Some of the examples here are marginal at best but mostly well outside the bounds of incidental contact. I saw at least three umpires that witnessed the incidents of contact and did nothing. It is up to an officiating crew to monitor this and make it clear that these incidents are not allowed. The umpires, for the most part, should be ashamed for permitting this type of behavior and should not be allowed to officiate at any level!

Allowing this kind of behavior invites retaliation and it doesn't take long to lose control of the entire situation. Yeah, second one was a clean play. It looked like a hard tag cause he had to be sure he held on to the ball. If it gets knocked out the runner is safe. That’s why the tag is so rigid and deliberate. It was a good play though.
bullshit, the runner was in the lane in foul territory, he caught the ball in fair territory and threw his body and shoved off on the runner throwing him to the ground...nothing sportsmanlike about that...period...done. He could have done a simple tag on him, but no he shoves him to the ground after going out of the way to bowl him over. I have umpired baseball for twenty years and I would have thrown out that catcher on the spot. What she did was inexcusable and dangerous to the runner. Many times I told coaches that they coach but between the lines I'm in charge. I've never put up with disrespect from from any coach or player. I'd rather quit umpiring than allow these shenanigans.
Is no need for that with the catcher. You handle that on the field during the game or you let it go. The first thing you do is wait for the ump to do something. If that doesn't work you tell your players that if she is in the baseline when you are coming home to take her out. OR have your pitcher take her out the next time she's up to bat.

When I was 15, a catcher did that to one of our base runners when there was absolutely no reason to do it and it was much worse than what that female catcher did. 2 innings later , I rounded 3rd even though the ball was going to get to the catcher way before I got there. I just zeroed in on the catcher, who had the ball and was grinning at me....that grin turned to dismay when he saw I was going to put my 185# body through his 150# body......and I did....he was knocked out, dropped the ball, and I scored. Of course I got beaned my next at bat but we were ahead by 12 (no mercy rule back then) so I didn't care.

As an umpire I always took the opportunity to use these types of incidents to teach the players to be respectful. Oh, yes, they got tossed and the coach as well if they got lippy. I got hurt and couldn't play anymore so this was a sore spot for me as an ump. Dirty players taint the ones on their own team who've been taught better.

Agreed. The first baseman left his feet to make a play for the ball, which was thrown high, and when he landed the batter/runner was right there. It looks like he did push the runner, but I think that was more self defense from the runner running into him.

Pretty simple with some. It’s called malicious contact. The player is kicked out of the game. As an umpire I have definitely given players the hook for this.
When we played at nationals one year in travel ball, this team was taught to pick up two fistfuls of dirt when they reached base and throw it in our faces/eyes if there was a play at one of the bags. I don’t remember the final score but I do remember that we were the champs that year 😁

OR, if she was going for it an accidentally ran into the runner, it was clean but still interference and the runner was safe. That was tough to watch and that series of catcher UC’s has been online for a few years. Just can’t miss the second one if you’re staying home for a potential play then you have no responsibility until they cross the plate. The fact that the catcher barked at the second runner should have been a big red flag there was intent to injure but everything is on film now so that catcher is now infamous for being dirty.
How did the coach not get in the umpires face after the first one? If I'm the coach coach the girl who gets knocked down, I'm out there livid yelling that the catcher should be ejected. That umpire should be ashamed.

The last part of the clip involving the catcher in the softball game is really about the head coach. In my view, the catcher's behavior reflects on the coach. When the opposing players/coaches comment about the catcher's behavior on the diamond, they should clearly acknowledge that it reflects more on the coach than on the catcher. The behavior displayed by the catcher is NOT the default behavior of a young person but is reflective of what they learn from adults and other authority figures (including the player's parents).
As an umpire, I would have tossed the catcher and the coach. I hate writing reports, but not as much as seeing players intentionally trying to hurt other players while doing an illegal action.
Coach definitely should have pulled her after the first one, but what do you expect. The school, after media pressure, gave her an undisclosed punishment, but then refused to even denounce it, making a point to call her a 'great young lady'.
The catcher at the end can be retrained by the right base runner with correctly filed cleats.

In the last clip,the catcher is guilty of obstruction, she cannot block the plate without posession of the ball. The runner shall be declared safe and the catcher should have been ejected for malicious contact per NFHS rules.
I played a lot of basketball late 70s thru maybe 1986. That was when the game was a lot more physical. I never at any point tried to hurt an opponent. I played rough but not cheap shot dirty at all.
b-ball is not as rough as it once was, but there's a very dirty play thats been going on for 30 yrs and just now is being called in the NBA. WHen a jump shooter goes up, the defender walks up to the shooter with hands up but their intention is to have the shooter land on the defenders feet. Thats been going on for way too long. If you are trying to bother the shot, you jump to the side of them for better reach on their shooting hand.

I have been an amateur coach before and have various levels of qualifications for referee and umpiring in four sports. Although there were a few unfortunate events, like that girl getting in front of the runners line before the first base pop-up, most the really bad ones were obvious, and the video shows an ump standing right there in clear line of sight, and multiple times with that last cheating catcher.
That one where the runner hit the girl making a catch was blatant on the runners part. Giving the fielder enough room to make the play is one of the first things you're taught in regards to base running. If I'm the ump that player is ejected immediately.

One thing I've always used as my sports philosophy is Play the game right.
But if the other team is cheating or bullying, then use their methods against them. It always, 100% of the time drives them insane and they become whiners and crybabies. It becomes entertaining, you get some revenge which, despite some people's forced Hollywood beliefs is NOT always bad, and you often win because the other team loses focus.
Of course, it depends on what the other teams is doing, too. Some things are just Out-of-Bounds.
I played baseball all through highschool, had a baseball scholarship to play college ball but was just not ready to go onto school so went to the Marines, bit missed baseball and a buddy asked if I would want to ump. He got me started on fast pitch softball, and let me tell you that is a totally different ball game. Fast paced and you ladies get mean and turn all Petty Betty hahaha it gets wild on the field sometimes hahaha I love it hahaha

There is a link here that said that the girl was punished for what she did, so, let her go on with her life. It happened 4 years ago and the girl, who was a junior in High School when this happened, has moved on. I hope that she learned something (maybe paying those student loan bills for the next 15 years will remind her to not be stupid) from it and is a good citizen.

That was not a "tag" when both arms are used and there is a clear intent to hurt or injure. A tag is simply with the glove and step out of the way ....which is NOT what happened. And it can clearly be seen that the "tough guy" is crying ...so probably got ejected ....so the umpires obviously do not share your opinion.☺☺☺☺☺

Two were actually clean plays that just ended up in rough situations unfortunately. Those happen sometimes. As a parent of the players involved it would be hard not to call foul, or if you're the coaches. The baseball tag play at first base was a hard play but actually clean when watching it in slow motion. The short stop and runner colliding on the ground ball is on the runner as the defensive player has the right to make the play on the ball. The short stop looked to have caught the runner in her peripheral vision and tried to pull up/stand up to avoid a bad collision but ultimately they hit causing the runner to fall.
@hexsystem7891, the play closely resembles your description but in the slow motion second view, the ball appears to pass out of the fielders reach AS the fielder is looking at the runner and throwing both arms into the runner. He wasn't playing the ball.

But not all of the plays in the video are going to be unanimously seen as intentional.
It is only going to get worse until those it happens too decide to dish out instant justice. Jump straight up and rock the persons jaw. The umpire's need to be taught how to handle the situation properly. The last girl that was catching should have been trusted from the game for interference, as with a lot of the other players. I was a ump for a lot a years and I had no problems throwing players out of a game for not following the rules. I threw out a few coachs as well. I just called what I saw and never favored anyone. That's what a ump is supposed to do.
If I'm the coach for the team on offense on that last one, I'm getting myself tossed telling the ump to do something about that malicious contact.

The girl running to first base should have been ejected from the game and the catcher that knocked over the two Runners should have been ejected from the game for obvious blatant disregard for the safety of others. Other incidents that happened there should have been warnings issued, and a couple should have just been warnings but unsportsmanlike conduct has no place in sports. These are games that you play, and if it's so serious to you that you need to cheat or hurt someone there's no place for you in the game...... PERIOD!!!!!! If you can handle losing then you must not be handling life very well because life is a 50-50 win-lose challenge for everyone. If you love and respect the game these things should never happen.
I`ll be honest I`m a Brit and played football but if that catcher had tried that crap over here the second lass would have launched her off the base about 15 feet for blocking the plate
I was thinking the same, especially the girl running into the 1st baseman waiting for the pop-up. If I was her parent, I would have grabbed her and taken her off the field.
When I assembled a team, I studied that rule book. I was prepared for cheaters and unfair umps. I would tolerate neither, and had to deal with both.
Assembled from the ever-changing "Wants To Play" list posted on the bulletin board at the county softball complex, I hand-picked each player...total strangers...Named the team Warriors and chose In The City as the Team Anthem...I chose Co-ed because all men's teams often have too much testosterone...and I was already 37...
My players were all chosen because I liked their vibe; talented, yet humble and eager to play...and experienced. They also knew the rules, and often played on their respective all-male/female teams.

I would have liked to see some ejections for those plays, but nothing shows it happened. Blocking home plate when the ball is not even coming in, much less in time for a play? EJECTION for rough play. Learn some rules and manners.

@@taylor7721 The umpire wasn't even looking on the first one. If I'm the coach of that runner, I'm out there chewing the umpire out for not watching and allowing that catcher to endanger my players. Then when he tosses me, yelling "you should be ashamed" as I walk off.
2nd one was incidental contact. You can tell by his reaction he didn't intend to hurt the runner.
Very true. The 1st baseman was only applying a tag. How else does he get the out? If the runner was not such a cry-baby, this would be a non-story.

You use your brain rather than physical contact. Violence is pathetic and resolves nothing. Its ALL unsportsmanlike, kids dont just do those things, they are teached. There kids. There are some dirty LL & HS coaches out there and parents who call on the kids to play dirty. It’s disgusting and one reason my son stopped playing after his junior year in HS along with a lot of the kids he played ball with since t-ball. It wasn’t about playing, being part of a team and doing your best. It always the win no matter the cost and the “I scratch ur back you scratch mine attitude”. Sad 😢
Getting your legs tangled up is not a crime. Protecting the ball is not a crime. The catcher was the only serious offender here... she did it twice. Lucky she didn't get plowed.
Although, the uniforms in example #2 was downright criminal also.

The LLWS play at first (second clip) was not unsportsmanlike at all. It was just a baseball play. The shortstop interference (softball) wasn't unsportsmanlike either. Just a baseball play with interference.

The second runner coming home against “elbows” the catcher had a good opportunity to send a message but she took the high road. Her parents and coaches should be proud.

When I played baseball/softball, if this shit happened, there would be a bench clearing brawl. Punches would be thrown, lips would be split and blood would flow. When everything was all said and done, both teams knew that no more shit would be taken.

Baseman standing on the baseline getting ran over, is baseball/softball!
When the player at the base is in the baseline path, they take responsibility for their own placement, the runners aren’t supposed to run out of line with the bases!
But when you have players throwing elbows at runners when the ball is nowhere near them, that should be immediate ejection from the game and possibly other game suspensions!!!
To continue to allow that player to remain in the game is tantamount to approval of their actions!!!

Playin right means, when the umpires don’t handle rough play, the players have to step up, and handle it on their own, if they want it to stop. Ain’t no cryin in baseball/softball

The second one is NOT unsportsmanlike conduct. Neither is the third one. Nor six. The blue pants catcher needs to be ejected for violent obstruction. The person that thinks ALL of these are 'dirty' plays, needs to stay away from sports.
The fifth and sixth ones are both player interference on the base runner. #6 should also be an ejection for plowing over the first baseman while making a play on the ball...

( m.mlb.com/glossary/rules/fielder-right-of-way ) Rule 5.09(b)(3). i.e. the runner cannot interfere with a defensive player in the act of fielding a 'batted ball'...as was the case with the popup to first base. If it was a 'thrown ball' that's another story.
