Thank you so much! I have 10 windows in my living room alone. I had finished 3 windows when I decided to Google "cleaning venetian blinds without taking them down." I have no bathtub (just had a modern bathroom installed), and this method saved my life. Finished the other 7 windows in record time. They are sparkling clean.

Thanks, had protein based smoke throughout the house. I was dreading the blinds. I added simple green and cleaning vinegar to the water. It worked perfectly with little effort. Bless you.

That is such a great idea. My blinds have been neglected for this very reason, I have a lot of them and my house is dusty. The long haired cat/roommate helps make new areas to clean. Thank you for the wonderful tip.
The method that works best for my cleaning of blinds is using Clorox wipes. The wipes do a superb job of cleaning and I can get in between the strings that support the blinds structure as well as do both sides at once. I just grip the wipes by my hands. Everything smells very clean and sterile. Cleaning goes very quickly.
I use Clorox wipes as well. Works great!
Do you need to dry the blinds after cleaning?
@@juliecavallaro6407 No, the blinds dry as you go. It uses quite a few wipes but works extremely well.

And sounds like a lot of waste like you would need a lot of wipes for all of this?
Or you can have seven Irish offspring to clean the glass ventian window slats by hand with newspaper dunked in vinegar water throughout a large house like my mom had. Lol 1970s

This is ok for a once a week dusting but to really clean them, soak them in the tub with hot water & a little Dawn dish liquid, wipe ‘em with a sponge then rinse off with the shower wand. To dry hang ‘em over a patio chair outside in the sun. You can do several at a time🤷🏻♀️

Ummm! I'm LOVING this idea! And, once a week? 🤦🤦🤦 I'm like maybe 3 times a year and have never taken them down to soak them. I secretly wish to be an OCD cleaner, but have come to realize I'm happy with messy but clean. Life happens.
@@grammym1643 lol, oh I do not do this weekly nor monthly, I’m usually a once a year😂. Unless it’s the blinds over my kitchen windows, they get dirty alot easier so I’ll do them about twice a year.

I agree the swiffers are worthless! Using thongs Is brilliant! I think I'm going to take mine into the bathtub though and soak them like you said. With the Santa Ana winds in California, everything just feels dirty and grimy. And then it will be nice for the holidays!

Just use an old sock or an oven mit, then throw it in the laundry. No need for the tongs.

This works great for plastic blinds, but I have metal ones. Can I use tis on them??

Those new "dusters" looks like cut up dryer sheets on a stick. I find them useless. I still find the "feather dusters" sprayed with pledge of better use for those in between dusting for blinds. However, I love the tongs method for cleaning blinds this is the most practical I've seen in my search. This is the video I was looking for, thank you, my search is over.
Just done mine, vaccum then magic eraser, brilliant. They were very dirty

This can work just for a clean blind or if you clean once a week or very two weeks,but if you are a cleaner and you must to clean a dirty blind you need a different method or a different approach…. My personal opinion of course

I take mine down , put them in outside shower where I have hooks to hold them and then spray with greased lightening , rinse and let hang until dry , they are spotless.
Do you have any suggestions for cleaning honeycomb blinds? They are a thin cloth material and a light color. The blind cleaning services in my area won’t clean honeycomb blinds.

How do you clean ceilings that have dust collected around a ceiling fan? The ceiling has the spackle texture and are 10-12 feet tall.
I vacuum, then eventually repaint...which is a pain.

That was my first thought and I’ll share with my son.
I suggested using a broom and it worked really well. High ceilings and my son said the broom was easier than the vacuum.
So how about cleaning the plastic thin blinds without making a mess??? The house I just moved into has these and they are horrible. They seem a bit frail 😢

I was told NOT TO USE WATER ~~ I have expensive wood blinds and won’t risk it. That being said, I will try your method (excellent idea) using some kind of wood spray cleaner/conditioner instead of water. Thanks! 😊

My arms would be noodles cleaning my blinds this way....
It's much easier to take them down and put them in the tub.. I then lay out beach towels and then wipe them down and hang them back up.

I need to clean a really really dirty refrigerator and more importantly bathroom. I try to get small homes and make money off of them. I tried to do the cleaning myself but in this case the bathroom is a disaster zone. Any advice? The regular type cleaning stuff just isn't doing the job on the walls and the shower floor. I don't want to discolor the walls because there's really nothing wrong with them. I think there were some squatters living there for a while before I got it and they were just using it whatever way. Help please. I'm going to subscribe anyway but if anybody can help me with this please let me know cuz I'm kind of new to the whole buying homes and trying to make money and fixing things myself

I bought one of those blind cleaning tools. I can't really explain it but you kind of put the blinds in between them them and squeeze. I'm planning on using it with the hot water and Dawn. It wasn't expensive..... we'll see how it goes.

Believe me blinds is great but cleaning is a nightmare I'm thinking of rather returning to curtains much easier to clean just take it down pop in the washer and dryer and you done

That wouldn't work on cheap vinyl blinds. They break very easily.

I clean my blinds weekly or daily if something gets on them. I love hosing down my blinds but not weekly. I do this but instead of tongs I use my hand
