We don't have blinds in our new home, and I'm so glad. They're way too time-consuming to maintain properly!
When we moved our daughter to college we had to clean her apartment with very dirty blinds. I took them down and literally soaked them in water with dish detergent in the bath tub. Rinsed then and stood them up for water to drip and they were like new
I add a small amount of dishwasher spotless rinse in with the pods. No streaks.
We have two 6ft long blinds in our kitchen, after cleaning these for two hours i have worked out its a six hour job as they are filthy, i might just brick the windows up and paint a sun rise picture where the windows were.
Too much faffing around.. I use disposable floor wet wipes, I clean them when talking or rather listening on the phone to a friend or relative who’s likes to chew your ear off for an hour about all their problems... I clean them at least once a month so they never get too grimey .😂
What window coverings would you recommend for the kitchen that would be the easiest to keep clean with the grease?
They're a few things I like for the kitchen.
Curtains are always easy on the budget and easy to throw in the washer to clean.
If you want to do blinds, do a faux wood - no grooves and thick width slates. Wider the slate = less slates to wipe lol.
Same applies to blinds running the opposite way, correct? I have them over two sliding doors. And mostly every window.. 3" wide.
Blinds are a test of Will
Agree. I would never install them
Take off wall take outside hang with 2 hangers spray with foam bathroom cleaner then Rinse with hose water lol lots easier!
I just replace them
We have wood slat blinds...are both the tide mixture and dish tab mixture safe to clean wood?
We have definitely cleaned wood slat blinds using the same method with no issue. But to be safe test a small inconspicuous spot first.
That's what I figured, but thank you for confirming for me. I love you guys and buy your cleaning calendar every year. Love it so much! Your cleaning recipes booklet is great too! Has been a tremendous help

Have you found any good way to clean honeycomb blinds?
There isn't a good way to actually wash these. But we do have blog article with some tips.
Honeycomb Blinds
Sadly, you can’t really wash these ones either. But you can still clean them. Start by vacuuming them with your horsehair brush. After you’ve sucked up all the dust you can, grab a can of compressed air (like you would use for a keyboard) and blow out any trapped dust.

@gocleanco. What about stains on them? I have a giant brown spot on one and the only solution I’ve come up with is to turn it around to the outside 😂
better solution. close blinds, take a paint brush and dip in soapy water and “ paint” blinds clean and dry with cloth
What is your suggestion to use instead of blinds?
Curtains are definitely easier to clean. Take them down and put them in the washer. They are easier on the bank account too.
I need this so bad 🥲
Don't use soap on blinds.. gross. literally anything but detergent. Literally use anything else.
So glad we do not have blinds like this in our home @_heavy_heat_
Thanks for Cascade tip!
