I always love how clear and audible the bass tone is in Obscura’s mixes
I disagree. It almost sound “too intentional” if that makes sense? I love good bass tone but it sounds over engineered.
@@mattfake8634 lol maybe you didn't hear First Fragment yet. The bass here is soooo natural 🙂
because it's fretless bass, has slightly different sound
@@DeadInGrave Yeah Obscura, Death, and Beyond Creation were my introductions to fretless bass and I really like that “warpy” sound it tends to have
Facts
‘Laid to Rest’ feels the intro.
Oh that's why I was like "I'm sure I haven't heard this before but this sounds familiar" :D
Obscura never disappoints. When you’ve got that kind of rhythm section you can pretty much do what you want, and they do it flawlessly.
The bass player is a killer!!!
This entire album is a masterpiece musically and technically. Production is also outstanding, each instrument sounds full and clear. Huge step forward for the band. Deserve all the success they've had and far more.
What a solo bro
Sick tune. It's mindblowing how Christian managed to cope with focal dystonia and still be able to crush it on guitar, the man got strong willpower.
What is focal dystonia?
@@TerminalM193 that's kind of neurological disorder (maybe because of overpracticing too much) which manifests in muscle spasms in a certain part of a body during specific activities in Christian's case it affects his fretting hand.
@@Nick91Wolf wow that sounds more than just annoying. Is there any cure or therapy for such a thing?
@@TerminalM193 you’ll see he wears a glove in some of his playthrough recordings, apparently it helps 🤷♂️
@@TerminalM193 Like Badger said, gloves help, but also various forms of "therapy" that seek to control your hands better and kind of subdue the spasm from taking place
These guys are awesome. All of them superbly skilled in their own right.
That fretless tone is as MWAH as it gets (this is a Good Thing for you non-bass players out there) and this mix is what you call perfection. Everybody is heard well, there's lots of punch and clarity, just enough warmth for it to not sound too clinical. There's a lot a lot going on here, but there's still structure and coherence as well. Good work, fellows!
0:31 love that riff
Well, that's it. Those are ALL the notes. And in the best possible order. We're done here, good night! 🤘🤘🤘
Yesss, favorite track off the album! Love that signature Christian Muenzner neoclassical tech-death sound
What a bass
Yamaha
Warwick
These guys are at the top of their game.
I can hear the bass!!!!
Diepold is such a fucking beast lol
These fretless bass lines are a hallmark in "Obscura". After Steve DiGiorgio; Jeroen Thesseling brings the most sophisticated arrangements of these instruments to the world of metal. Great job, guys!
Don't forget Dominic Lapointe
He came later, I guess. At least to my ears. But I knew Jeroen long before. I like his lines. They are very fluid.
The tapping section made my mind go straight to the tapping section in Gorod - Disavow your Gods.
OBSCURA - The Neuromancer Lyrics
I ought to go
In wisdom, you will rot
In delusive prudence sought
I strove towards untold
In cognition I behold
Lost in reverie, mesmerized I drown
Unsealed, adopted creed despoiled
In vain revealed, raised fear unsoiled
Neuromancer, obsessed, unseen, remote-controlled
We are addicted, overdosed in creed
Our freedom of faith
Worthless science and meaningless greed
We are the sainted ones
The failed survivors paced into abyss
I need to leave in rigor consciousness
In deceptive freedom of thought
I vowed to comprehend
In gnoses, I ascend
The final elegy, entranced I disappear
Unsealed, adopted creed despoiled
In vain revealed, raised fear unsoiled
We are addicted, overdosed in creed
Neuromancer, obsessed, unseen, remote-controlled
We are addicted, overdosed in creed
Our freedom of faith
Worthless science and meaningless greed
David is an amazing drummer.
Top.. 👍🏼
He is disrespecting Jesus Christ
@@henrikstomsjo5613 umm.... How?
@@henrikstomsjo5613 Jesus who? I couldn't care less.
If Jaco Pastorius played metal this is what it would sound like. All the bassists know what I am talking about. RIP Jaco
As a bassist myself, I agree.
Best song from the album! Love it!
This and Forsaken are the 2 best.
Awesome band with amazing vocals and fantastic guitarists and awesome drumming 🥁 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎤🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎤
idk about the vocals... I think some deep growling has been missed in some parts.
😭
I'm getting DEATH meets CARCASS vibes on this one.
OBSCURA sind einfach die beste!!!!!😍 unglaublich Sound !!!
some goosebump moments included ! 🤩melodic+technical+death = Obscura !
I love how Christian’s solo has licks from Yngwie malmsteens jet to jet solo
This band have something unique that give me goosebumps everytime. I just want to be in a huge Obscura mosh pit for eternity 🤘
True
Perfection!! Can't wait to see them live soon!!!
Bass goes deng!
I saw the notif, and had a moment of deja vu. Septicflesh had a song of the same name released this year only.
Super great technical death metal band coool
Love it. It’s perfect. I can’t wait for the guitar play through video for this song!
Great awesome.
WITH LOVE FROM MOSCOW!!!
Masterpiece 🔥
Next level as always. People need to quit sleeping in these guys. This should be millions of view’s by now. I’m so glad I have good taste in music, and so do u if you’re reading this right now. Congratulations on not being a lame and listening to all the mainstream garbage out there.
3:19 that riff tho
One of best bands
That bass is just fire 🔥
Хорошо🤟🤙🤟
I met some metal friends that just came from an Obscura show on the London Underground train to Hounslow and they recommended this band.
This is good shit.
This is what technical death metal should be. Very fast with Thick distortion and rhythm while finger still dancing in the guitar and bass neck. Most technical death metal band play it so technical till there is too many slow part, djent-like, and lack of rhythm distortion.
Listen to them on pandora
The absolute peak of tech
USA tour please. I need to see Obscura masterpieces in person.
richtig geil, freue mich auf Freitag im Kiff Aarau;-)
Awesome song. I cannot exactly pinpoint it, but the tapping part (2:42) reminds me of Bach or other classical composers.
It also reminds me of "disavow your gods" by Gorod
I’d argue that is rooted in neo classical guitar work plus it reminds me to one of the tapping sections on Arcturus Prime from Eternity’s End, the power metal band from Christian and i?m quite sure the more i hear this record i tend to find power metal elements from eternity’s end
You guys never fail to deliver 🤘🏻
Bass is sweet!¡!
Crazy late for a video, but still appreciated! Well done!
Wow!!
That bassist can shred -respect, bro! 🤘
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
nasty line up of musicians... my top favorites
I have been under a rock! My god the riffs they are just throwing around!
Playing and singing, mindblowing
La bateria y el bajo estuvieron espectaculares ufff
I hope we can have a live DVD coming soon 🥺🙏🤟🏻
There's levels to this and this band is on a completely different one.
The best ibanez guitar
That bass is something else
Amazing tech death metal from Germany 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Insane musicianship as per usual
I'm so glad to see Christian back in action. Those leads are out of this world.
1 one the best songs of the new album!!!! This tapping passage is such a highlight! Thanks for the intense video 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Ow man, it feels so good 💧🤘
I can tell from these riffs and leads that these guys are new to playing their instruments. I could easily fret all of these riffs and solos at double this speed with my wiener while asleep. They shouldn't be discouraged though. With enough practice and patience they can eventually break out of this beginner stage and one day play intermediate level music. And they shouldn't really compare themselves to me, I'm pretty advanced for my age. I was actually the first of all the kids at my skew to get pubes.
But you bought those pubes from an 8-grader🤣
One of the Best in the album. What a solo goddamit. Christian Was the only thing this band needed
Hola Juan José! Estaremos comentando este vídeo en nuestro podcast de esta semana. Te invito a suscribirte y formar parte de nuestra comunidad metalera. Stay Metal! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
No, what this band needs to be as good as before is grossmann, and munzner of course. Grossmann was the best songwriter and drummer in obscura
@@el.pibedelrock Yeah but at least this album is much better than Diluvium.
Also Akróasis is a masterpiece imo
@@juanjoramirez01 mm akroasis is kinda meh imo, I definitely prefer omnivium and cosmogenesis over akroasis. But yeah this last album is great, every obscura album is great, their discography is perfect. However, I think the albums where grossmann did most of the songwriting are the best
Don't forget Jeroen Paul Thesseling! The bass lines that him created for Obscura, are awesome.
The intro was so awesome!
Can’t help but hearing it go over into Lamb of God’s ‘Laid to Rest’ tho
Can’t help but hearing it go over into Lamb of God’s ‘Laid to Rest’ main riff tho after the first bar
@@Jordy666sic same here
@@Jordy666sic why not 🤘
Intro reminds me "Laid to rest - Lamb of god"
A very nice content! Like very much this extra melodic lead guitar melodies - it always makes me take my guitar again :D
This.... Reminds me of Castlevania!!!!
Ya tengo mi entrada para verlos en octubre en Buenos Aires. No puedo esperar!!! 🤩
obscura goes hard as always🤘
Absolute experts at their craft!
Speed plus black = magic
More bands needs to turn the bass up like this band and overkill do.
Pqp que som técnico. Impressionante!
Filhos do Necrophagist
Outstanding 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Ridiculously skilled to the “extreme”, pun intended…
this band is very good.. I follow your debut.. the riff is very good.. and the bass is super technical
Top !👍🏼
AMAZING MIRACLE
Happy to see Chris doing Great
Am i about to listen to new obscura 🪐
🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
Nice tribute to the Jet to Jet solo
Always amazing for obscura...
Having the band back together was something I always dreamed of (lol). Too bad Hannes isn’t having any of it. That sucks, he’s such a good writer they could make some more amazing albums.
Death Metal is not my go-to subgenre, but the odd number gets my attention. This is one of those. What won me over is the outstanding guitar work and exceptional production - I haven't heard many with the definition that this has got - you need some quality headphones to fully appreciate it. This is a must for Death Metalheads. My Score: Good 3*
I am a new death metal convert. This band, and album in particular, helped open my ears to the amazing talent within the genre. I was always closed minded about it because of the Uber aggressive vocal style. I have come around to enjoy that as well.
Masterpiece
They finally got their sound back
Wowwwwwwwww!!!!!!!
Best lineup in metal right now? This is basically a supergroup.
That opening riff and the way the drums enter reminds me so much of Lamb of God's Laid to Rest. Good shit
I‘m so excited for the tour!
Obscura are on different level
Love this band!
legend is here
Brutal tema🤘🤘🇨🇴🗡🩸🩸

thank you obscura, very cool!
Good shit, Obscura always brings out the melody groovy brutal tone that makes you wanna mosh in your backyard 🤘
