    You can pull the dipstick and check if the oil is warm

    If you want heat in the cabine install a heater for your coolant circle. I have a passive 400W heater installed from Sweden and I have heat on my Diesel nearly instant.
    For supporting the engine startup I am going to also install a heat pad soon 😎

    Pretty cool! I should get one for my trans transmission. The block heater works fine, but the transmission is so dang cold it takes 2 miles after it warms up just to get to 88 degrees for lockup to work

      So you can’t go 88 MPH until it hits 88°. Sounds like a problem for Doc 🤔

    Have an 03 alh in my 97 zj. Was looking at putting in a block heater to see if it would help with the no heat since im up in new England. Maybe it will be better. Love the videos . hope to see more. Maybe one about ac in?

      Very cool swap! If I figure anything out with heat I will for sure make a video about it. Also, an AC video is definitely in the works and will be quite involved

    Very cool center consol Guage. Do you have a coolant "block" heater? That would give quickest heat after starting and do favors for starting. A small fuel filter heater wrap will keep fuel from jelling in the filter without having to run #1 diesel until its really cold

    My TDI in my 02 golf (ALH) does not get heat above 80'F in winter even after an 8H drive only 80'F out the vents. where my other cars push out engine temps out the vents. Its worth it to invest in heated seats for your jeep! thats what i did. :) Much better than waiting for heat.

      Yeah, I have a Milwaukee heated jacket that is really nice in that way! This proved to not get me to operating temperature faster but it certainly makes starting easier on EVERYTHING - starter motor, battery, and engine getting oil flowing where it needs it faster. I'd guess it helps a minor amount with fuel efficiency too as the engine revs a lot smoother and just overall responds better the first few miles into a drive.

      What you need to do is get some $2 pipe insulation from home depot and block your grilles completely. You will get strong heat. If you hear your fan clicking on remove a little bit of insulation at a time until it does not come on regularly.

    Block heaters are non existent in your state?
    Inline coolant heaters work all kinds of wonders aswell. Had one installed on my '92 Toyota Hilux. It too had a very small diesel that was a challenge in the Canadian winters.

      Block heaters are super rare down here yeah, usually not an option dealers select for cars they order

    I'm more convinced every day that I have to devise way to retain the VW coolant glow plugs somehow. 🥶
    Feedback on the vid: either drop the volume on the background music or drop the music entirely, it's distracting from your content.

    What do you think about a battery pad heater on the oil pan? Im worried about the oil pan pad heater getting so hot leaving it plugged in at night.

    • @DirtRoadTherapy
      @DirtRoadTherapy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do the oil pan heater for the oil pan. I run mine on a wemo switch and have it programmed to come on about 3-4 hours before I would need to start it up depending on how cold it’s going to be.

      For a semi, absolutely. If I had room for one and colder winters I’d do that too

  • @HatBilly2008
    @HatBilly2008 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How long can you leave it plugged in?
    Over night
    One day
    2 hours
    Any ideas?

    • @DirtRoadTherapy
      @DirtRoadTherapy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just for the sake of my electric bill I connect it to a WeMo plug and have it programmed to come on about 4 hours before my departure time

      @@DirtRoadTherapy thank you.
      The kat, I had on my truck in North Dakota, back in 2013 lasted 2 years.
      I plugged it in over night , it was fine, but now I live in southern Michigan.
      And I have my grandfather 2007 ford explore from Florida. 50,000 miles north of rust.
      And I know it will need help this winter.
      Thank you best wishes

    Is the lack of heat from the EGR delete?

    • @DirtRoadTherapy
      @DirtRoadTherapy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the EGR system definitely helps it to reach operating temperature faster but I don't think it really keeps it from holding temp once it hits operating temperature. But if that's the trade off I'll take it, not putting that garbage system back on!

    • @DirtRoadTherapy
      @DirtRoadTherapy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t believe it is entirely, I had it EGR deleted in the car before I pulled the engine, took longer to reach temp but still cooked up some good heat

  • @AutodidactEngineer

    I suggest adding two more of those heaters on both sides of the cylinders ultimately creating a sandwich!

  • @slipperyslope3912

    Man I don't trust sanding down the pan. Now all the area around it will rust. I'd rather glue directly to the paint. No aftermarket paint can seal as well as factory paint.

    I don't know why everyone ( except the smart ones ) thinks Every video needs music, rap, Boz-inda-hood, background noise and Christmas tunes while they're talking. Artistic License is the only reason.
    As far as i'm concerned, they can take that that pornographic phonograph crap and shove it where . . .
    But i digress. No noise, please. ☆

    This guy thinks that the oil is going to heat the car. When coolant comes to operation temperature, it’s when you’ll have heat in your car. Those oil pan heaters are for easier start ups not to warm up the entire coolant system.

    • @DirtRoadTherapy
      @DirtRoadTherapy  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Pretty sure that was the whole point made in the video. Seeing as there is a coolant heat exchanger in the system though, it does serve to heat the coolant just a little faster. Of course for getting heat faster you want a coolant heater
