  • The constrain floor elevation cheat is probably the most complicated building cheat in The Sims 2. This video cracks down on the how, why and when to use it.

what a fantastic tutorial, wow! I'm so inspired to give these tools a try (even if I didn't totally understand every bit, but that's just cause I haven't tried terrain tools yet)! I'm a newbie to the sims 2 and on a building kick. Also I happen to be high and this was blowing my mind and captivating me lmao, felt like half the time I was going "woahhh" and the other half I was rewinding to try and commit stuff to memory XD thank you so so much for the detailed explanations of both why AND how each thing works, A++++ video!

It's a lot of fun trying to experiment different levels and understanding what does what by trying out different things, similar to computing in a way
I feel like rather than building more simple things, i tend to create structures with more complex elevation of tiles just because I'm more familiar with it the more i try stuff out 😂
There was a mall i made with some complex elevations going on, the most impressive thing was probably the jungle slide i made starting from second floor going down
Meanwhile atm in the middle of a community lot with an underwater garage and restaurant too
Something to always remember in terms of floors is that every floor is 16 clicks upwards or downwards
And make sure to put the cheat to True when going through all placeholder floors with a finalized one because it can affect the elevations
If you have sloped flooring that is elevated, you can't change the floor so always have another floor same level in the distance with the same flooring as the sloped one and shift+clicking on the straight one also changes the sloped ones

Thank you for making this really informative video! Its something I'd been meaning to ask you about actually. I think in most cases its probably more hassle than its worth for me personally, I'm quite lazy when it comes to building haha. But its great to know I can follow your steps for a build that just won't work any other way! Especially for more than 2 floors like you showed. You look soo pretty btw!

I learned a few new tricks. Previously, I used this cheat literally by touch, but now I seem to have learned its essence :D I will be glad to see your new tutorials, you explain everything better than any teacher! :)

I know most of these tips and tricks in The Sims 2, and for the most part, the ConstrainFloorElevation cheat in The Sims 3 does work very similar to the Sims 2 one. However, the CFE cheat in TS2 and the one in TS3 don't exactly behave the same way. It's difficult to explain in words what I mean. But, the slight difference doesn't really matter much. The basic concept is still there.
The Sims 4 just has 3 wall sizes, that's it. While on one hand it does make building easier, as you can just click on the wall height and get the result, the downside is that there are ONLY 3 wall heights - low, medium and high. Furthermore, all the walls of the same floor must be exactly the same height.
Personally, The Sims 4 is easier on one hand, but on the other hand, LESS customizable.

Haha no wonder, I didn't know about it until, I think, two years ago perhaps either. It's amazing how we have all these little things in the game that we just haven't discovered after all this time. :D It's nice to still get surprised and amazed though, so there's that.
