When I joined the Marines and went to the fleet, getting issued my actual rifle, which was a Colt M4A1, first thing I thought about was Carlos’s from RE3. Even had the fore grip with the retracting bipod in it. Love this rifle so much, I cloned a few as a civilian.
It just made sense for a section where you played as Carlos mowing down Zombies and Hunters with an M4 after you defeated Nemesis' first form. Helps that the section in which you do so is as atmospheric and tense as the rest of the game...
The Tactical Grip eliminates recoil totally even when firing full auto. Fully upgraded, it's the most fun weapon to use during the hospital siege. In RE4R, encounters with Regenerators are a cake walk when the carbine is paired with the infrared scope.

It should also be worth noting that for the MK18 CQBR, it was not produced until the year 2000, which would make it's appearance in the RE3 Remake anachronistic, or not accurate for the time period. There is however a short barrel model of the M4 that did exist prior to the MK18 CQBR called the Colt Model 933, also known as the M933 or R0933. This model has a short barrel like the MK18, but the barrel profile is 11.5 inches instead of 10.3 inches like the MK18. The Colt M933 is probably the rifle that was used in both the RE3 Remake and RE4 Remake as the CQBR, since like Kendo said, the model itself has a longer barrel profile compared to the real MK18 CQBR.
If you compare the in-game models it’s definitely the 933, it has the 11.5” barrel profile. They just switched the names because CQBR sounds better than Commando.
Interesting. My guess is that Umbrella's R&D department made the CQBR a year or two ahead of schedule. They do have an impressive weapons and development group.
@@Kingcole6 if you look at the model it’s not a CQBR anyway. Compare it to pictures of a 11.5” barrel. The model in game is definitely the “commando”, which is the 933. Capcom just called it the wrong name. Kinda like Jurassic Park calling the Utah Raptor a “Velociraptor” because it sounds cooler.
I guess I'm that guy, CQBR sports 1.5 inch longer barrel than MK18 it's supposed to be depicted but given the era and a weird fact like "Glock 18 with full-auto function disabled by armorers" (which doesn't make much sense unless you just want Glock 17 with ported barrel), it wouldn't be too far-fetched that CQBR could have started out its life as M4A1 before it went through modification or aftermarket parts for Resident Evil 3 Remake appearance. Yes, I've gone through IMFDB. And I'm trying not to accounted photogrammetry as a factor. Great video as always. Looking forward to Leon's H&K USP (SG-09) in the future. SGO-09 Tangent: Coincidentally features similar .... "features" to Taran Tactical Pit Viper in John Wick 4 which came out as the same time as the REmake 4. Elongated customized frame, frame-screwed-on compensator with front sight relocated towards the comp for easy target reacquisition in rapid fire and else. The gun would have been a flat shooter in 9mm but even in the cutscene it's depicted as having a substantial enough recoil more than a USP in 9mm with modifications should feel. And oddly enough, easily acquired aftermarket parts like ambidextrous safe and slide release weren't put on (paddle-release is inherently ambidextrous). Overall a fascinating design but it makes sense enough to be replace by more empirically tested and proven, at least in the state amongst multiple departments and agencies, SIG Sauer P226E2 in the form of Sentinel Nine which still carries same principles over from a custom-made SG-09 to be a relatively mass-produced issued-sidearm.

Ah yes, the M202A1 FLASH. Could in theory take an explosive round but AFAIK never actually was set up to do so. The reverse was true as well, M72 LAWs could have in theory been built to fire the same incendiary rocket as the 202, but they never did. Which is a shame as disposable one shot incendiary rockets make a lot of sense. Oh, and the scene in the RE3 remake where Carlos hits Nemesis using one? Only time the series has actually shown it firing incendiaries I think. Guess Chris stuck a bunch of AT rockets into a 202 that they got as a "riot weapon" for STARS....
The Riot Shotgun, a.k.a Benelli M3/M4 Super 90 would be interesting to analyze on this channel. It is one of those weird hybrids weapon that Capcom like to feature, and has appeared several times in the series.
This rifle may be an anachronism. I don't remember ever seeing any KAC drop in rails for sale in the late 90s or the CQBR barrel profile. The 11.5" barrel depicted yes but 10.3" was considered unreliable and too short to stabilize a 62Gr projectile. I want to say the twist rates were still 1-9 at that time. 10.3" barrel came along later. And there was no such thing as FDE back in the 90s. If you were lucky you got khaki or desert tan but it was usually something an end user painted. Most factory options were black. I gotta lot love for the m4a1 in the 99 resi 3. The sound is so satisfying, it literally sounds like a heavy machine gun. It also really looks the business.
Speaking of UBCS, anyone else want to see Carlos return into the mainline game? We really have zero idea of what happened to him after the events of RE3 and even in the remakes.
It should be noted in fact the CQBR in resident evil is a Colt Model in the 900's i believe of an even earlier type even before the M4. However I am sure the M4 would of been available in it's old generations as well as it was featured in cut scenes in other games. Colt Model 933 is one of the earlier colt commando variants google seems to show in the more modern remake games, looks like they could of added a R.I.S rail to the front of that as well since that also does have the thinner pencil barrel profile but normally doesn't include said rail but a clamshell handguard instead. Note the model in the game does not have the M4 profile barrel of later 14.5 inch guns. The CQBR is much shorter at either CQBR length or slightly longer at 11.5 inch barrel as is the Colt Commando related weapons and Colt Models. The remake being either a Colt Model 933 or even kind like a earlier generation MK18 like you mention isn't far off actually even if the MK18 does have some further nuance. Otherwise I love your videos and excellent detail, great work as always and it makes me happy and thrilled to finally see a new video from the lovely Kendo.
- I love the Knights Armament RIS drop in rails. Even to this day, they're still considered the gold standard when it comes to the highest quality drop-in fit and durability. - Notice when Carlos shoulders his rifle in manual mode, and his right elbow is sticking way out. That's actually called the chicken wing. No, really. Marines and soldiers even today are still taught about it and how to correct for it.
Sweet a new video. I love the time and effort you put into not only the model breakdown, but also using the actual lore and notes from the games, including the Japanese-only material to give us a complete history of the weapon. You go above and beyond what is needed for these videos and that is what makes me so happy to see a new one pop up. Since I not only get a high-quality analytics video but also an in-depth lore video on Resident Evil that puts others I've seen to shame. Keep up the great work, and I can't wait to see what comes next.
4:12 - Well, let's be honest. I think being minor NPC's, all of the UBCS guys weren't so much unprepared for combat against hordes of zombies, in terms of fire power and skill, so much as they just didn't have the HP necessary for it. You know everyone who ever encounters a zombie outside of Carlos and Jill dies from the first bite.
Genuinely kinda wished that when Jill got to use the M4, Im just gonna call it what it is. She got to use the same attachments as Carlos did. Thus making her an unstopped Goddess of zombie death. As usual, an instant classic of a video. Welcome back! Addendum. I couldn't help but notice. You seem to have SIGNIFICANTLY increased the price on the Aimpoint. Had no idea that a Comp M2 cost 19,000 lol
Personally I think as a small police department, the rifle she would use to distinguish herself from the UBCS should be an unmodified M16 because police departments of the late 90s were not as tactical as they are today.
Resident Evil had made, a vowed Kalashnikov enjoyer, into actually thinking M4A1s were cool and desirable as weapons. Thank you sincerely for your high quality and entertaining video!
Because it classified as a sniper rifle-type weapon in RE4 Remake, the damage output after fully upgraded the weapon was quite incredible, landing those headshots and popping Ganados' heads feels so satisfying, especially if Ashley compliments your precision
Heading over to put in my merch order, Kendo. You've done us all a great service here, keeping not just Leon, Claire, and Jill armed but ensuring we all know exactly where your inventory comes from, it's history and where it's best utilized. Thank YOU for being YOU. 1 of the best channels out there, dead stop 🤝
If anyone is balking at the 300 round capacity for the M4, understand that a basic battle loadout for primary weapon is typically 7 mags (6+1 in the weapon, 210 rounds) but quite often soldiers can, and will, carry more. My personal LBV carries 6 mags, 2 on the rifle (2 mags taped together; 240 rounds) and I can't legally own grenades, so I stash extra mags for my pistol there (4+1 mags; 75 rounds). It sounds like overkill until you consider that you might hand a couple of those mags to a battle buddy (or two!). No one has ever gotten into a fire fight and said, "Damn, I brought too much ammo!"
Another great video as always my man, love the Resident Evil series. I know you did Leon's Matilda from RE2, can you do a video on Leon's RE4 pistol next? It's another great weapon of choice for him, I believe it was called the Silver Ghost
I love this channel, you a tell this guy knows his real world military armament. I like how you identify each peice and link it real world parts. I immediately knew that was a Knights rail.
These videos are great because they get into the nitty gritty details of the weapons without going full gun nut like some firearms channels do, still taking liberties for the sake of cinematics. Also holy crap, is that optic really 19 grand IRL? That's madness.
That’s probably not going to happen, no telling how long these actually take to make, if he does them alone, and other things he might have in his life
It's argued that the RE3 Remake version is moreso meant to resemble that of a Colt Model 933, but considering how already similar the IRL model is to the MK18 I don't think it makes too much of a difference.
I love the classic Colt ribbed hand guard, especially on the Gordon carbine, but nothing will top the quad rails. I simp hard for Daniel Defense with their MK18.

Man I just woke up to a new kendo post. Today is gonna be good
Because it classified as a sniper rifle-type weapon in RE4 Remake, the damage output after fully upgraded the weapon was quite incredible, landing those headshots and popping Ganados' heads feels so satisfying, especially if Ashley compliments your precision
Yeah, it was a breath of fresh air to finally see a rifle work like a rifle. Usually, they're pea shooters (Worst offender has to be the AK in CVX)
@@popemobile12 even in re3make the cqbr damage feels like a 5.7 than a 556
@@castsmith6783Agreed, wasn't as bad as 5 but still nowhere near RE4make's CQBR
@@popemobile12 re5 assault rifles is just a long barrels smg
Shoutout to Zach's Gun rants for pointing out the glaring flaws in the gun model that I can never unsee!
Do the Chicago Typewriter next!
Honestly I'm more surprised that the UBCS didn't try to maximize more modularity with the M4 platform.
Perfect way to wrap up the week. 🎉
i was just thinking about this channel earlier today; missed you Kendo Bros. ❤️❤️❤️
Every video Kendo puts out is a banger! I wish he’d start covering RE lore as well!
Missed watching your content late at night. Welcome back Kendo!
As much as I love the handguns of the series, I always love seeing something with a bit more bite.
Always a blessing when you upload my man
Heading over to put in my merch order, Kendo.
Return of the King
Another great video as always my man, love the Resident Evil series. I know you did Leon's Matilda from RE2, can you do a video on Leon's RE4 pistol next? It's another great weapon of choice for him, I believe it was called the Silver Ghost
What a great comeback Mr. Kendo!. Such an interesting video, and I won't get bored of that. Keep it up because we're still waiting for new videos!.
I love this channel, you a tell this guy knows his real world military armament. I like how you identify each peice and link it real world parts. I immediately knew that was a Knights rail.
Attach a bayonet to defend yourself between reloads. You might be fast, but the infected will almost always outnumber you.
I offer this comment to drive engagement and boost the video metrics.
May it be accepted and may we get more videos in the future.
MK18’s are sweet guns in general, cool to use them in Re3/4
Finally you're back. This was a good video, btw. Really good intro to cool AR stuff.
Glad to be welcomed back, Mr. Kendo.
Please do the Punisher from RE4
glad i discovered your channel kendo
🙌🔥
Great video i look forward to the next one, maybe some more weapons from RE village
Kendo barging back into our lives like Mr X does. Always a welcome sight.
Some great footage that doesn't normally appear in-game. Great video, as always.
Your uloads always brighten my day, thank you!
These videos are great because they get into the nitty gritty details of the weapons without going full gun nut like some firearms channels do, still taking liberties for the sake of cinematics.
Also holy crap, is that optic really 19 grand IRL? That's madness.
No but they aren’t cheap lol
On the receipt it says it’s that price for 100 of them
best weapon in resident evil hands down
Finally Thank you, i have been rewatching everything to get through work.❤
Great to see my favorite Gun Shop back in action for the new year! I'll be stopping by the shop for that Samurai Edge T-Shirt here soon!
So when are you gonna do a video about the combat knife?
A zombie apocalipse is coming:
- yEa LEtS tAKe a hANDguN
Dear lord, just pick that goddamn Assault rifle since the begining
If you’re referring to Jill in OG re3, she’s escaping her apartment im not surprised he pistol is the main thing she had
We need more video on a weekly basis!
That’s probably not going to happen, no telling how long these actually take to make, if he does them alone, and other things he might have in his life
Finally he has returned!!! The shop is open.
Glad to see Kendo back at work.
Do a video about the STI Eagle 6.0 from RE3 (ps1)
It's argued that the RE3 Remake version is moreso meant to resemble that of a Colt Model 933, but considering how already similar the IRL model is to the MK18 I don't think it makes too much of a difference.
I love the classic Colt ribbed hand guard, especially on the Gordon carbine, but nothing will top the quad rails. I simp hard for Daniel Defense with their MK18.
