I find artists like yourself that call themselves “crazy” are actually more sane than most others! I love your work! You are continuously inspirational and straight to the point with a hint of honest humour! Thank you for sharing your talent with the world!
I’ve been wondering how to make these. Thank you for sharing this lovely tutorial! I can see this being addictive. I think it would be fun to use nice magazine pages-in a ruffle like this, you wouldn’t see what the print was, but the colors would mix so well.
Natasha I don't know if you read comments on your older posts, but I just wanted to say that you are truly inspirational, I can be in a funk, then I go to your Channel and I become charged with creative energy, you are truly inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing your contagious energy. Carla aka Pete from Arizona.
I am so thankful for your great idea! I am now the proud owner of 3 giant paper ruffle rolls and have already started using them in my journals! I see my scraps vaporizing before my eyes! Whoohoo! :)
I've been snooping through your older videos because I've just found you. This idea, these ruffles are genius. I LOVE them. And I save every scrap, too so I can get right on these. Thanks so much!! Shared on Facebook, too. I want everyone to be doing this. 💓🌲
This is a brilliant idea! Thanks for sharing and for showing how to make them! I’m getting less intimidated to use my sewing machine for paper. Have a fabulous day and God Bless!
Lovely idea. I just love all your solutions to minimize mess and hoarded stash. Keep the ideas and videos coming. Since watching you, making my junk journals is not such a stressful operation anymore. I just play and am creative and allow my personality to shine through.
I love that so much Paula!! Its all about play and like you say, letting your own personality to shine through. I used to stress too about what to do, what should I add etc, and I used to spend too much time gathering supplies rather than making. No more!
I love your creativity! And you are so fun to watch and listen to especially when you start talking in different languages and/or voices! Thank you for it all! Know that you are probably helping in the lives of people that have been hard, I have several mental illnesses due to hard times, you bring happiness into my life and smiles, you are a blessing to more than just me I’m sure! 🥰
What a cute idea and so well explained, too! I love the idea of making them up ahead of time, so you have a roll available to use whenever you want. Much better than trying to make them as you need them. This way you use up your paper scraps and don't have to go to the sewing machine each time you want to add a little embellishment to the page. I liked your idea of using the ruffle scraps on the edges of pages, too. That littlest scrap could be used as a tab, or small embellishment on a smaller tag or the like. So many ideas and so much fun! Thanks for sharing!
Oh my, that smallest scrap was there to demonstrate that it can be used as a tab, and then I totally forgot to mention it hahah Thank you so much for watching and for your wonderful comment!
Thank you for sharing this with a close up. It is so helpful to actually see how your hands are helping to fold the paper as you go. Can't wait to make some. Have a lovely day. Catherine
Now I understand why I kept all these scraps and leftovers 😄 And also that old heavy sewing machine from my grand-aunt (I couldn't give it to donation, always forget to do it, actually). Well, with your channel, I have plenty of ideas to play with ! Thank you for sharing your videos and creativity. With love 💚✨ from Belgium
Wow! Who knew that a pile of scraps could turn into beautiful embellishments. Thank you for the tips and tricks of hope to sew these. Have a happy day!
I love these!! They look so classy. I can’t wait to make a bunch!! Next day… I went through my scraps and trimmed them to have a top and bottom pieces to make my ruffle. I love this kind of project. Just go through my scraps and make some adjustments. Plus these are so cute! And I didn’t have to spend any money! Yay!!
I had to come back in here and tell you…. THESE ARE SO ADDICTIVE!!! I’ve made 3 rolls so far. My favorite was using some book pages I had coffee dyed and spritzed with gold watered down paint, as my base strip and left over scrapbook strips for the top stripe. The ruffles are so beautiful. The gold makes them shimmer. I love them. Just wanted to tell you I’m addicted! Lol
Oh I love it!! Thank you so much!! I have a little secret. I have a 'wall of inspiration' on which I put comments I get on my videos that really touch my heart. This is the THIRD comment of yours going on my wall. Thank you
Treasure Books I may be running out of ways to express my appreciation; no matter how I say it, all the previous comments will always apply. It means a lot to me that my comments are meaningful to you, Natasha. Blessings🙏
I watched this video at 4am this morning and loved it! Ive come back to say so and thank you for a wonderful idea on how to use up scraps...thank you.x
I just spent *hours* making these!! I think I may be addicted....they are so pretty and I can't get enough of the sound they make!!! Thank you for the idea/tutorial!!
"messier" = "organic" :) Now I have to go get another container for all these bits lol Thanks for sharing this very relaxed tutorial "just one more then I stop" ...
So smart & creative!! Thank you for sharing your inspiration! And thanks also for sharing your scrap/off-cut stash - I am happy to know I'm not by myself in the "crazy" category !
This is even a fabulous idea for fabric sewing and clothing embellishment. And I love your recognition that true maker's art is more beautiful the less perfect. I think I lot of people who get amateurish results with projects do so because they try too hard to be perfect and make corrections while in process rather than letting their imagination and creativity just flow without judgment.
I love this Mary, you are so right. I recently wandered into an expensive shop, porcelain and curtains. This man has made curtains for the queen.. Well he was showing me how his wife sews the curtains. Hand stitched. He said a sewing machine will get PERFECT results, factory type results. Hand made and imperfect is the true value of what they do. I just loved his stories, and it all made perfect sense.
Oh my gosh, I immediately wanted to go and play with my sewing machine when I saw how you were making these, and that's rare as I am terrified of my machine lol. It's not actually set up just yet as I am relocating my craft room from upstairs to downstairs but this will definitely be the first project I try when my machine is back up and running again! Thank you for sharing Natasha, I love your tutorials :) Hugs, Victoria xx
I saved this video when I first saw it to give it a try later on. I've been putting aside my strips and finally made some ruffles. Wow!!! So easy and so beautiful. Thank you for inspiring me to use my sewing machine on paper.
This is by far the best tutorial on this technique I’ve seen! Thanks for sharing your method for making these fantastic scrap ruffle rolls, I can’t wait to make some myself!
I love how they are "perfectly imperfect".☺️ And repurposing scraps to embellish other items made from scraps. I watched your video about cereal bags. I can't wait to try that, too.😊
I first saw your ruffles in your video tutorial about making envelope journals. I'd seen them once or twice before and loved them and wondered how to make. Now I know! I am excited to try, and than k you, Natasha, for these wonderful, careful, and easy-to-learn lessons. XOXOJane
Who doesn’t have a box full of paper strips, we are crafters after all. Brilliant idea using 2 strips together, you could mix in some fabric strips or trims as well. I agree with the messier the better. These ruffles are so adorable and have unlimited potential! Thanks for sharing, new subbie 😃❤️
Hi Angela and welcome!! You are right, so much potential and variations. I want to do it with fabric and paper next. Ribbon and paper, Book pages and ribbon, wahi, and the list keeps going!!
I just cut a lot of long pieces so I could do these tomorrow , my mom and I are excited to have some of these in our craft rooms. Thank you so much for sharing , HUGS!!!! You keep us inspired. Xoxo
Sally you NEED a sewing machine!!! Once you start using it you will never look back. I bought the cheapest one I could find, and use it every single day!
Treasure Books - I know, I see these all these awesome ideas and I have beautiful scraps of material. I do have a machine but the tension got messed up on it and the more I tried to fix it, the worse it got.
This looks so fun and addicting! Thank you for sharing. I first saw the tutorial on the one JJ group I belong to, but haven't had the time to watch TH-cam until tonight! Love your videos! I can't believe people gave a thumbs down. That irritates me!
People are crazy! Who doesn't love paper ruffles. Doesn't matter that I made them, and other people have made them. They are paper ruffles. How can they not like paper ruffles? That irritates me. Its paper ruffles! Well actually, someone said they are not paper ruffles but paper pleats. So that could be a potential thumbs down haha
hello! I can't believe it's been 2 years, and no one has asked for a tutorial on that wonderful paper of yours! and I know this, because I've been on your channel and looked at all your work. as it has been already said: you're vids are both inspirational AND addictive ;-) there are a quite a few tutorials on the tube, but none have papers as wonderful and colorful, as yours. yes, please, make a tutorial of your own on how you create the multi-colored, crinkled pages.
Beautiful, now I know what to do with all those loose strips I kept for so long. Need a sewing machine now 🤣 just tried out a really old, mechanic one a few days before, because of all your beautiful and inspiring ideas!
This ruffled paper roll is absolutely epic!! I can hardly wait to give it a go..I have learnt so much from your videos..TFS your creative talents with us..❤️
I've been watching my strip stash grow all week as I finished up teacher folio journal gifts and this is the perfect solution! Thank you so much. Your genius has inspired my thriftiness into a perfectly wonderful and inexpensive embellishment. I love it and appreciate you.

I was watching a video from 49dragonflies and she used the paper ruffles. I was shook and had to pop over here right away to see how to do my own. LOVE IT! Can't wait to make my own.
How different and unique the ruffle is! This is such a wonderful idea for using all those scraps we (all?) keep. Really love what you made. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
I love this Natasha! And your video where you explained some of your back story explains you keeping all of those offcuts. And look at what a beautiful thing you made using them! I can’t wait to try this. I had some strips of tea dyed paper that I couldn’t bring myself to throw away so I will use them up making “reams” of paper ruffles!❤
this is such an awesome idea!!! I had to make some right after I saw your video. It's so addictive! I have also made a journal with me video using these and linking to your video. It will be live this Saturday. I also made some with book pages and music paper adding washi tape instead of the paper on top. Thanks for sharing this wonderful idea!
What a fantastic idea to make strip rolls with those scrap pieces! I always look forward to your videos because your ideas work so well fo me. I need your creative ideas.😊 Thank you, so much, for sharing them!♥️
This is terrific!..i don't sew but i shared with my two sisters who do sew and they make journals.....i like embellishments that are made from scraps. very gratifying to use up left overs! Thanks!

Yes groundbreaking.
Amen to that.
Yes!!😄
I’ve been wondering how to make these. Thank you for sharing this lovely tutorial! I can see this being addictive. I think it would be fun to use nice magazine pages-in a ruffle like this, you wouldn’t see what the print was, but the colors would mix so well.
Thanks so much 😊 That's an excellent idea to use magazine pages!!!
Natasha you are soooo amazing. You always make something beautiful out of nothing.
There should be a warning with this video because it is so addicting. I can’t stop making them! Thank so you much for sharing this tutorial!
Haha thank you Patty! When I posted in a Facebook group, it came with the warning haha
