I know the video is old, but I wanted to share my experience with the Exlene controller vs the PowerA one. Both have pros and cons.
The Exlene GC controller: Bought in April 2021. Overall feels great at first, and the best thing about it is that the Switch recognizes it as Pro Controller, so you can do custom Buttom Mapping, unlike the PowerA one. Unfortunately, not many months into having it, I decided to check the Button Testing, and the ZL/ZR buttons have double and even triple input in a single tap of either button, and this is detrimental if I'm playing game that requires me holding those buttons for whatever reason (like aiming and shooting in Splatoon 2). Even though it says it works on PC, it is not recognized as a Pro Controller by Steam on PC, and generally had issues setting it up.
The PowerA GC controller: Bought in 2018, used it on both Switch and PC. Been using it for almost 3 years now, and still holding up well, and I don't mind changing its AA batteries when it needs to. I stopped using it on Switch however, and use it on only PC, since Steam recognizes it as a Pro Controller, so setting it up there was no hassle. And the reason why I stopped using it on Switch was because I really wanted to map custom buttons on it, but the switch wouldn't let me, unlike the Exlene controller.
Final verdict. The PowerA has durability and functionality, even though it ended up not being suitable for my Switch for my own personal reasons. The Exlene feels cheap and had problems with button inputs without using it very much, so if you buy one it might be a bit risky in my opinion.

Everyone will be breaking their controllers lmao, if they play ssbu competitively esspecially, both wired and wireless power A controllers got stick drift in 6 months wouldn't recommend either Sadly unless you have a real old DOL 001, 002, 003 or 004 even the smash GC Controller other than that your pretty much screwed and if course some are defective but most of them work unlike any other GC Controller brand, personally I just play with the pro controller and rock candy pdp pro controller along with another third party pro controller. I know it's not what anyone wants to hear but it's true weather you agree with this or not doesn't concern me take this how you want just warning fellow competitive smash players.
Also always check reviews, there's Been countless of other victims to this controller searching hunt me being one of them it sucks the last thing you want to do is pay 40 or higher for a controller that's going to break in a year or less.
Remember if your not playing smash bros you have a great chance of keeping your controller but still.

You missed the craziest part about this controller. The triggers ARE analog. Plug it in on PC and it registers as an x-input device. The triggers will register analog input based o how hard you press them in even though there is no travel. It's nuts. Not what I would prefer, but still a pretty decent option for Gamecube emulation if you gotta go wireless.

@@zkatt3238 I was referring to the Hori USB wired gamecube controllers. I have both 2 hori usb gamecube pro controllers and 2 powerA usb gamecube pro controllers. The ones I bought from Hori were the M and L variants of red and green. The triggers are digital and feel more modern. Other than that and the fact that it has a turbo button, it feels like your standard gamecube pro controller (pro controller meaning it's designed to work as a switch pro controller on the software side with it's capture, home and select buttons, which is how almost all USB gamecube controllers operate). The PowerA have bad triggers, they are fake analog, meaning you have to push them ALL the way in before it counts as a press and they need to be pushed in FAR, it also lacks a turbo button, tho that's not a big consequence. As for the sticks, I can't put my finger on it, hori's just feel slightly better, but keep in mind I tested both sticks in 3D games like Odyssey and Splatoon so results may vary. One thing power A might be better at though is the D-pad, no promises there though due to how when I think gamecube controller, I don't think D-pad so I don't give that area alot of attention. Make no mistake though, as far as gripping them go, they both feel equally comfortable and semi identical with holding them save for the triggers, that part is personal preference.
All that being said, the controller in the video seems to grant the best of both worlds. Digital triggers while still maintaining the trigger shape of the original, a turbo button WITH motion controls and can be wireless-dongle but also be charged via a USB-C cable. I am HONESTLY strongly considering getting one of these as well in the coming months.

Honestly the only reason I can think of for them using a right angle cable instead is if they make something that works better with a right angle cable, meaning that they went with them because they already have them. Sometimes right angle cables works better, say on like a drawing tablet, but on a controller at the top no it doesn't, if they put the port on the side and gave it a cable run, yeah I can see it working better
