Just what I needed while being one of those builders trying to finish my home after 15yrs ...3 kids later etc etc ....fantastic breakdown of all it takes to get through a project like this ....having that 800k nest egg which you guys worked and saved for probably made all the difference...and all power to you josh ...its motivating and inspirational...and realistic ....much appreciated. Josh C
This is the best building channel by far in my humble opinion. I watch a lot of this stuff. I love the way you set out this video. The breakdown of the build. The way you handle any drama and the positive way you handle any problems. The editing, the music the filming is all top notch. The attention to detail. They way you plan is brilliant. Thanks also for showing how much paperwork there is on a project like this. Thanks for your time and efforts on this and your other videos. It's crazy that you have time to set up your recording equipment and record and plan your video while doing all of this. It blew me away how you handled the shutdown during this build what a nightmare. I really enjoyed this video so informative and entertaining. Cheers.
That was so cool Josh. Super enjoyed the one video, I watched it over a couple days. I also have gone through a bespoke house during Covid in Wellington City. Was super nice to watch others go through much the same and tbh, was a bit moving at the end to think I have done what your video shows is such a special thing! Feels like building a house prevents a mans mid life crisis! We are 2.5 years in and that to do list keeps going... and I never want that to stop now! Josh, you impacted my life here man watching this one, TU.
Hey Josh, amazing build! I have no idea about building and you made it look amazing during the entire video. Just so that you know, you forgot to add the link in the description for the building resources. I wish you all the best!
Hey mate, love this stuff. There is so much to consider in raising a home out of the ground, especially one with an odd site layout. The experiences you've captured here on film are possibly the most invaluable resources for anybody looking at building their own home. The planning and preparation stages as busy and overwhelming as they are, never seem to cover all the potential curve-balls regarding mother nature, and the human component. Hats off to builders everywhere, not many careers out there can compare with the mental and physical stress of running a building outfit. Sincerely, a relatively stress-free plumber
Mate, greetings from Australia, I live in the Blue Mountains and am currently looking “upgrading the house” and have been wanting to find a builder show the process of something that isn’t a cookie cutter. Love the video brother and you’ve given me heaps of insight. Thank you!! And all the best for your channel! 🙌
The skylights over the kitchen area make such a difference Josh! Had my foot under the mower too cobber, but with steel caps on, brought back memories and made me flinch. It is taking off the boot for the first time that is the most stressful. I'll bet that taught your children a lesson, or at least I hope it did . :):) !!
Another xgreat video Josh, really love the summary at the end of what you’d do different and do more of. Merry Christmas mate, hope you have a safe and happy break
Great job. I can see why so many saw that site as too much. You're a super builder and very positive when sharing . Cant wait to see your next home build. How is your wife and kids feeling about another build???
A few things about being an American Framer in NZ . are you parking a tank in the garage ? we don't even put steel in our garage floor builds, never had an issue. pre made walls are dry and square , but kiwis have lost their ability to frame a house . stoked on guys who take the worst piece and build a dream on it .. Well done mate !
I cannot believe I watched the whole video and enjoyed it lol, so subscribed, probably because you remind me of one of those 'Kiwi Legend' types I grew up with as a kid in the 60s onwards; evident with the gumboots attire, complex slope section, Hutt weather, getting the job done and yea the mower!
Interesting to see the different building standards, but at least you guys use the metric system which makes it easier when watching your videos🙂 I have a question about that corrugated roof. I was planning on using it for a carport I'm gonna build but I'm worried about the noise it'll make when it rains as the living room is right next to it. Can anyone with such a roof tell me if I'm overthinking or is it really much louder than a traditional tile roof ?
Great work Josh! Hope you get to enjoy it for a while. If pre-covid build cost was $2500/sq.m what do you think it will be in 2025? Assume that excludes all external works? Thanks
Great video josh and glad you spoke about the costings. A couple of questions did the costings include your time and labour? Secondly does the 10k cover all the bathroom and laundry fixtures as that seems pretty cheap for a 3 bathroom home. Would you go for wool blend over pink batts as they are more expensive but it allows the home to breathe more
No sun in Wellington ? They call them “self cleaning houses “ I think they UGLY af . Most new builds in NP or Nelson have no overhang , they just look soo cheep
A tip for ah ha moments. If you have a business phone with answering service ring the number leave a message and if you have a secretary have them write notes to yourself or other people. It allows a faster distribution of ideas and messages.

Hey Josh, thanks for posting this. It's really useful info and great to see it one episode in chronological order. Thanks!

You must be super proud to achieve what you have. Excellent video production. Looking forward to many more.

That must be a NZD$1,000,000+ house today.
Easily over that amount.
@@Lowkeyone20 Real easy. Maybe 1.5M.
Product cost would only be 500
Such a good video
Awesome work mate
Great job. I can see why so many saw that site as too much. You're a super builder and very positive when sharing . Cant wait to see your next home build. How is your wife and kids feeling about another build???
Definitely adding some led lights under the stairs would give it the home a very sleek modern look 👍👍🤗

Inspiring mate, really enjoyed it.
Amazing work. I did something similar where I bought a dilapidated house a did a full refit but I had no building experience. Mistakes were made D:
Love your videos, keep up the good work!
Excellent program , thank you 😊
I was wondering why does the roof have no sheeting? Def not a cost-cutter.
Love the ramp
24:48 Those "Warm" notices don't always work in AKL.😂
Great work Josh! Hope you get to enjoy it for a while. If pre-covid build cost was $2500/sq.m what do you think it will be in 2025? Assume that excludes all external works? Thanks
Great video, love your channel. Hey what were the shelves you used in your study nook? Where did you get them?
What is your timber cladding. Is it treated pine? Or Accoya?

What brand /type are the weatherboards? Do you think they will cup over time ?

I wonder if you know Scott Brown!
and why don't Kiwis build overhangs in there roof ?
There's no sun over there and the want all they heat they can get onto the sides of the house to try and warm it up.
No sun in Wellington ? They call them “self cleaning houses “ I think they UGLY af . Most new builds in NP or Nelson have no overhang , they just look soo cheep

You have better quality construction than in the USA 😁✌️
Dude starts his built and first thing is he cuts his toe..... hahaha wth
Not a convenient plot for construction, but overall it turned out pretty well . Well done
But what about the other site
8:25 That’s the sound of a bloke who can’t believe what he is saying 😂
💯💯💯

Привет из Украины !
Счастливого Рождества !!!
Awsome az
Not the mow the toe, broooo. gummon
Does anyone else notice the resemblance to Franklin’s house in GTA V? Or am I going nuts?
For €271,400 or NZ $500,000, you won't even get a 4 decades old one room little flat for that in the Netherlands 🇳🇱.
I guarantee you those neighbours would’ve been moaning throughout the process no parking subies be spewing
I thought this was Franklin's house lmao
😂 bloody kiwis can't live with em can't live with out them. Buetiful home!
On STOLEN land
sore loser
Nice one Josh. Great show. Hey don’t you get a load shit in those Wellies though? Looking forward to the next one
