If anyone hasn't figured out how Tommy was found residing in Empire Bay. In the remake, the money pick-up mission Paulie and Sam explained the motel is a front for stop by for all the dons or capos to reside, making drop off/pick ups. The in and out of town families or bosses are making business and meetings. Morrello was included in motel reside to make business. At that moment, he and Falcone met, started the drug business together, splitting the powder and cash. Then war ignited between him and Salieri Morello, he had to cut off business with Falcone. With Morello killed, leaving the motel in possession of Salieri. He and Falcone met, and Falcone convinced Salieri to get into drug business with Falcone support. Then Salieri behind bars, addressing his acting boss handling business and talking to contacts of cops, feds, and friends of the family. By 1950s the search was over, Salieri called in Falcone favors.

Salieri thinking Frank was killed by Tommy was the main reason I suspected that there would be betrayal at the end of the game. Apparently, Salieri never talked about Frank, his best friend for almost his entire life ever again after his ‘death’. It just made me think if he can let go of someone he’s known and trusted that long that easily, it would be even easier for him to put 2 through your head
There's a theory that Salieri found out pretty early about Frank and the reason that Tommy never heard Salieri talk about Franky afterwards were because he couldn't stand the fact Tommy would've betrayed him on it. Of course this all assumes that Sam was wanting to betray both Paulie and Tommy years before the bank heist.
@@conscripthornet4430i think he found out later cuz he was actually grooming Tommy to be he is next in line for a while. He was the perfect successor in every way tougher than Sam but is smart and more charismatic than paulie. He might have even forgiven Tommy if he and paulie didn’t rob the bank
@@conscripthornet4430Frank made it too easy to find him so I can believe that. One of Salieri’s contacts in Italy probably told him pretty soon after that his old consigliere was alive and frequently attending dog races which is something both Frank and Salieri were into. I don’t think Salieri ordered the death of Frank’s wife and daughter but that is a hallmark difference the American vs. Sicilian mob. The Sicilian mob would clean house on your entire bloodline so that none of your relatives(who are socially obligated) can directly or indirectly seek revenge. Which is why they went after wives and daughters too because of that indirect revenge aspect.
I like how Tommy just got offed, almost unceremoniously. In the end he ended up just like everyone he killed himself, a stepping stone for a couple youngers to rise through the ranks.
It reminds me of the Rat in the first season of the Sopranos. He had a remarkable career as a member of the mafia, then left and had a whole new life and family in Maine, until Tony comes along, strangles him with a cord, and leaves him dead in the dirt. It shows that associating with the mafia is a deal with the devil no matter what: if you stay in then youll likely get killed by a rival or police, or end up with a lifelong prison bid. If you get out youll be looking over your shoulder for the rest of your life, and the moment you let your guard down the men you once called blood brothers will put you down without a second thought for your treachery. As badass as the mafia or any other gang is, its a poison that latches on to you the second you go near it and it takes an act of God to get it off.
@@HugoStiglitz88 in my opinion he got the best ending out of any character. He got in some trouble and saved his own ass, then he went on to live a solid chunk of life building his own family, when his time came he took it like a champ and his family was left unharmed
The final conversation with Sal Marcano is one of my favorite scenes in gaming to be honest. Just love that they're just talking, no glorified last stand with Sal vs Lincoln. Sal knows he's done for and just accepts it. Also love how there's multiple ways to kill Sal in the end.
You have a fantastic way of concisely, coherently, and enthrallingly, unpack narratives while keeping them as compelling as they were in their original forms.
The British general speaking are the best at it. It is why when you watch documentaries with British narrators, you take in so much more information and are able to retain it much more easily.
For the part where Henry finds Leo, I swear you can actually beat the mission without being caught. I SWEAR I remember driving Leo to the airport in his car instead of getting the cutscene in the kitchen
Yes, if I remember correctly, you can find some sheets and then use them to climb down the balcony. From there you then take Leo's car and escape to the train station.
This is correct. There are several ways to complete this mission, and some of the ways you can get caught result in an automatic fail instead of Henry letting him go. I always climb out the window and take Leo's car.
there are 3 option where u fail hiding under the bed,in the closet and in the shower and 1 where u escape if u take the bed sheets that are in a clothes basket and escape trough the balcony in a car
I love the fact that instead of just recaping on the story of all the games, you actually add in some extra lore like with Tommy's backstory, Empire Bay's history or the origins of the Haitian Mob. Much appreciated
Im not sure if its intentional or not but i loved it During the Angelo's assassination by Vito and Joe, on the mafia 1 remake the view was much warmer because Angelo has finally accepted his fate and died peacefully And on mafia 2 remastered, it was much colder because Vito and Joe was running on thin ice with everyone trying to kill them

From this break down, it seems that Mafia 3 has the best story out of all of them. It's pretty cool to see Lincoln rise up and utterly destroy the Mercano family and rise to power
I agree the problem with mafia 3 in my eyes was the lack of variety in how Lincoln takes down the rackets and what you do between story beats. But the world and writing were A1.

@@TwoBsWhat's the point? Remaking a game from the 360 era is pointless, because aside from graphics which still hold up okay, the gameplay is completely up to par with every other major open world game. Hey, just noticed you missed an integral point of the Mafia relations in #2. Big reason is that mafia 1 came out in shadow of gta 3 and i think it got more popular when hangar 13 bought (mafia 3 creators) bought 2k czech (mafia 1,2 creators)
You also missed out on the 2 other ending as the "Vito Ending" isn't the only one. The reason on the 3 endings is dependent on how many districts you've given to your underbosses and the one with the most would have a alt ending. If you gave Burke most of the ending, Burke would become the defacto leader of the gang that Lincoln left behind and instead of running it well, he turned New Bordeaux into a land of total debauchery. By Nicki's words (Thomas Burke's daughter), after Lincoln left, they found cancer cells on Thomas's liver and was stated that he would be dead by at least six months but he took the money he earned and went to Mexico and switch for a new liver thru the black market and went on to survive for another 15 years. During that period, he went on and expand the criminal empire of New Bordeaux by expanding on booze and finally drugs with him shipping heroin at first before expanding on cocaine which he became the biggest distributor of narcotics in the entire of the US. Burke got soo rich from illicit activities that he became one of the richest fella in the entire of the Southern US and because of that, he was able to buy a seat in the city council and even had the entire state changing it's name from New Bordeaux to "Bourbon City". However, being the biggest narcotics distributor has it's price as every criminal syndicate wants a slice of the pie and during the 1980s, all hell broke loose when the Cuban gang declared war on Burke's operations and during the entire period, acts of terrorism was happening across the city with car bombs, kidnappings, murders, shootout on broad daylight and brothels burnt to the ground. With his operation under threat, the Cubans finally sealed the deal and called Burke out. Not going down without a fight, in 1984, Burke took an M60 machine guns and a few grenades to assault the Cubans alone. He did kill a few of the Cubans but he didn't survive the attack and instead got taken out by the Cubans. Since then, none of the top bosses after Burke had managed to sit down on the seat for more than a year and New Bordeaux till the time of the 2010s was still a lawless paradise. If you gave Cassandra the ending, Cassandra and the Haitian Mob would be the defacto leader of the gang that Lincoln left behind and instead of running it well, she turned New Bordeaux into a hellhole and did ruin the whole economical structure of the city and even to an extent, the entire god damn state. When Lincoln passed on his mantle to Cassandra, almost all major criminal organization known by man that spans from Boston to Miami that respected that order and everyone went for her blood including the Cubans, the Commission, the Columbians and some say even the Triads but none of these organization knew who they were fighting and how much of deep shit had they stepped into. One by one, they lost their leader by murder with Johnny Galante being slit in the throat while watching a porn flick in a porn theater, Manny Moreno being burnt alive during his daughter's 15th birthday party, Severo Garcia being buried in the sand right along the beach and drowned when the waves covered him up and Anton Bagrov being beaten to death with a crowbar. Things got soo bad that more and more mobsters and organizations went after Cassandra time and time again with relentless firepower but each time, they failed and came out worse. Things got soo bad that the governor declared martial law and brought in the National Guard to maintain order but Cassandra has other plans as she ordered the assassination of the governor who was then shot in the head, in broad daylight, right outside the steps of the capitol building and that's when people realized that Cassandra effectively runs New Bordeaux and no one can touch her but they were wrong... VERY wrong. By assassinating the governor in broad daylight, Cassandra has messed with an enemy that she could not even win and that's the government. When the news reached the senate, they decided to pull all government grants and fundings to the entire state of Louisiana in retaliation of what Cassandra did by cutting school funds, maintenance works fess and all kinds of supportive grants in order to force the people to push Cassandra out while bankrupting the state. When the massive hurricane of 2004 hit Louisiana, it was soo devastating and with the state in disrepair even before the hurricane hit, the city couldn't rebuild and is still in a dilapidated state in the 2010s and almost all had nicknamed the hurricane as "Hurricane Cassandra" upon the devastation of how these 2 had brought to the whole state. However, the condition and how Cassandra turned out to be was still a mystery as the game ends as some had said that she was killed and got swept away by the tides during the hurricane whereas some had stated that she had hidden out of sight and had hid in the Bayou to restructure another bounce back from there but as people said, god knows how she is now.
It proves how valuable Vito is when he's the only one (except Lincoln) who doesn't fuck everything up. Yes, Cassandra is a badass but overall Vito and Lincoln make ot actually work.

There are many more or less little story changes between the original and the remake. They decided to embellish the story a bit and tell it in more detail. Mafia 1 the definitive edition is personally my favorite, i love the roaring 20s era for the mafia, mafia 2 has a wonderful story but i never played the game itself. Mafia 3 has the best story of a man coming back from essential death to take over the entire city, but the game felt way to long and drawn out and the missions got super repetitive, most were run n gun, and quite simple. Id love to see Mafia 4 take place between 1 and 2, show us the life of the mob during the great depression of the 1930s and pre ww2 era
I loved mafia 3 it really portrayed the racism in america during the segregation period and showed just how monstrous people were its a hard hitting story with great atmosphere.
My only complaint with the story is that we don't experience it as much because of the stupidly repetitive missions to unlock the actually gripping stuff
Mafia 1 & 2 had this fantastic way of telling a story in the background. Throughout your main storyline - it's mostly Tommy/Vito doing odd jobs, having fun, cracking jokes & starting a gang war before shit gets serious in the late game. But what's really happening is they're burning bridges, being played or completely misunderstanding what they're even doing. In Mafia 1 - there's this excellent story in the background of Salieri slowly coming undone by power & betrayal. It's unclear when Salieri sanctioned a hit on Tommy, but it may have been on his mind since 1935 - assuming that's when Frank was discovered & whacked. It means Salieri was throwing Tommy at the wall, hoping he'd die on a job. Best make use of the guy at least, y'know? The assassination of Turnbull & the resulting 5 Stat chase, with no backup - might've actually been a set up. Kill 2 birds. Or the pressure for him to fix his drinking habits was actually to keep the guy useful enough, before he's whacked. Or moving in on the drug trade behind his Capo's backs. Did Sam know? Probably, since Salieri let him in on the plan before Tommy & Paulie. Which means Sam was backstabbing his mates long before he shot Paulie. What it also means though - is that Sam sat on the info of the back robbery - went to Salieri, spilt the beans & they both decided to just wait & whack Paulie when home, assuming he had the cash. Maybe even Luigi was in on it, since they never went to Sarah's house, likely through risk of collateral. Rich with details. Love it.
When I played this game, I gave everyone the same amount of territory but since I gave Burke his territory last he became the new boss and now New Bordeaux is basically an Urban war zone as gangs vie for control of the city. But, I lie it best when Vito took over control.

I kinda have to correct you about one of 3 endings in Mafia III. If you chose to leave New Bordeaux, Vito indeed can become the new boss of the city but it can be someone else too. In my own playthrough i got Cassandra. So someone who played MIII got Burke as a boss after Lincoln Clay left the city. I can' remember it's decided by actions we took on our playthroughs or it's completely random Other than that this is the very first video i saw from you and i love it. I was under the impression you got to choose who took over if you choose to have Lincoln leave town. Personally, I always had Lincoln stay. Someone gotta help out MJ with his growhouse. (Like I would ever give the keys of the city to Cassandra lmao!) If I trust the city with anyone, it would be Vito, the other 2 just fuck up everything Lincoln worked for.
The person who takes over if you choose to leave is dependant on who you give the most territory to while playing the game but a tie always goes to Vito and is the generally accepted “canon” ending

Mafia 3 has a fantastic story, like something from an action movie with a gangster spin... Lincoln Clay is a great character, the setting is good as well as the backstory and his war against the Mafia is different to a lot of games, now add in the Vietnam and CIA stuff and its even more interesting. My only complaint is that i dont think it should have been part of the Mafia series, this could have been a standalone game with a different title. To me, the Mafia series should have been all about the Mafia, working your way up and facing all the challenges one would have to face in that life. Mafia 3 was too differet to the first two games and in my opinion it didnt sit right. Fantastic story though, a mix of GTA and something out of a 90s action movie

I don't. I loved Tommy. Best protagonist hands down in the series

The final conversation with Sal Marcano is one of my favorite scenes in gaming to be honest. Just love that they're just talking, no glorified last stand with Sal vs Lincoln. Sal knows he's done for and just accepts it.
Also love how there's multiple ways to kill Sal in the end.

I know that Mafia 3 in the eyes of others wasn’t a true Mafia game, but the writing behind it was pretty great.

Easily one of my favorite franchises. Some of the most compelling crime story telling in the game industry. I'm glad of the audience it has, but its level of recognition still isn't enough.
Just like the yakuza series doesn’t get enough recognition
I think people just straight up don't even know. people don't know how good the series is and just see it as another GTA when it's so different.
@@detectivehan5717 yakuza's been getting a ton of recognition though lately. Btw, is yakuza's story really good? I've been curious for a while it's just 6 games or whatever is A LOT (I'm not playing the turn based one though)

Love it.

The 1 thing i like about mafia is that there are actual traffic laws... Helps you immerse in the game.
Love to have Joe and Vito to rise up in their own families and be apart of another game or at least be heard about as some ‘old timers who keeps to the old ways’ in the 70’s and 80’s.
The soundtrack of Mafia 3 stay undefeated in gaming, that Vietnam Era sound is top
to those wondering the mission at 39:46 you can actually off all the dude's during that mission it's hard but the first dude you see ya just gotta literally beat down quickly and then from there it's all about just being accurate and lucky
Luca asked Vito and Joe each to pay him $5,000 to join his crime family. $5,000 is a lot for me, but I forgot that this is set in a much earlier time. I can only imagine how much that would be in today's dollars.
35k maybe more
@@innercircle9413 WTF!!! No wonder Joe almost choked.
@@neverdavenever you have to look from my vision. I am indian. Every 1 dollar is multiplied by 80 here.................now imagine that
This video is exactly what I’ve wanted to watch, there’s other videos that go over the story of the trilogy but this one goes way more in depth.
Am i the only one who loved mafia 3? Like sure it had its issues but i loved it. Even the repetitive missions had actual cool stories behind it
They still could’ve kept the cool stories but less work to see it 😂
