I managed to remote play psvita but need connection for one time setup then I can play without net every time.

I loved the second screen function for battlefield 4. you could see the whole map on your tablet and you could choose to play as commander airdropping vehicles and prioritise objectives. shame its not utilised in all games at least for the menu and map.
I'm curious so what your saying with the second screen is basically like a Nintendo ds except your using your big flat-screen and your tablet etc lol

Is there any way to turn off the notification on ps4 that's shows when the companion app connects and lose connection?
With some games you need companion apps amd not the play station second screen. Seems this video was released before RDR2 and the companion app for that game was so helpful. To be able to have the map up when travelling to an objective on auto horse travel or just generally browsing and placing markers! Very useful feature i would definitely give it a go for games that support the feature. Companion apps often are very useful but also operate separately to play station second screen apps.

Hi I am trying to get ps4 second screen app to work with a chromebook but it says another app needs updating but the app it says needs updating is latest version.
if i try with my iphone it works fine
it might work with an android tab ?
Thank you, I too was expecting to see my console screen and thought I must have list my lifetime Geek card. Ironically, I had been looking for a PS4 Controller app... come to find out it was under my nose (and mislabelled) all along. Glad I listened through to the end of this clip or I wouldn't have heard "unfortunately, ..."

There's no captions on this video and I can't figure out the answer on google, so could someone please help me out here? On the screen that shows your phone with a 2 in it and says "this screen is currently not in use", what exactly is that feature for and how do you even use it? I can't get it to do anything.
What if after you connect it and you disable the "enable turning on ps4 from network" like could you still connect it to your ps4 and use the app?

I remember trying to use the app for a second screen for tearaway unfolded and all it did was have the other person either blow wind at you to mess with you or draw things that would fall from the sky like leaves or snow. Was pretty useless since they didn’t get to actually play.

i found 2 remote play that you have to pay for on iphones, they are both R-Play which how it shows, but 1 of them is $5, which the info says you have to link with youtube account, and the other 1 is $12, that doesn't tell you to link it, the $12 R-Play got more stars than the $5

The second screen function should allow you to use your phone as just a screen. Similar to how the remote play works but you connect the controller to the phone not the phone to the controller. The phone just works as your screen to play on

Play station is using hotspot on phone which I'm pairing won't connect
The app is so broken. I paired my phone with PS4 console, but I can't use any of the features of the app. Can't use the Keyboard, because the keyboard didn't pop up like yours did. Can't use second screen with games that are compatible with it. The only thing that can be used is the trackpad use with the arrow keys, PS Button, and so on.

Thanks for clearing that up for me I thought I was doing something wrong I've seen people in videos but it was old videos legitly play their PlayStation on their phone and I thought that's what this was but I also noticed when they did that they were using a different app that wouldn't pop up was the second screen app and like you said it only does so much it's almost pointless I wish it would let me do that. Cuz myself I'm in my living room watching my daughter and she's always watching TV in the living room and I want to play my system which is in my bedroom and it be perfect if it work the way I want it to. So if I'm doing something wrong and there's a way of doing that still to this day someone please let me know

MissGoa PSN Shadow of the Colossus, it was redone for the PS4 a few months ago, would recommend it.
If smartphones came as part of the PS4 package (as in, literally and physically come with the consoles) then I bet devs would have exploited the app's functionality more. But to do it without certainty of use, or worse -- risk alienating players who have the console and the game, but can't have the app on their phones for whatever reason -- I can see why the feature is rarely explored.
Which is a shame, really. Exploring a secondary menu or even a mini-map on our smartphone would come in handy in a lot of games.

It would seem that in order to use remote play on apple you have to pay money.
Its good if your playing an mmo on the playstation and just want to type faster. Aside from that the best other use i found was to use it to remotely turn off the system or mess with it if someone else is playing. Its a shame the namesake part of it seems to be unused though but at least its free
