MISA plays Black Cloud basses. Small Japanese custom shop. They just put out a MISA signature Black Smoker model...about $4-$8k, depending...Miku plays Zemaitis since 2016...She has many, but she has a signature model (here) called Flappy Pigeon which she designed all the metal etching
This was during Covid. Thankfully the Maids did several Online shows with no audience. I paid to stream them live at the time and loved every bit of it but they are nothing compared to live crowd videos. I love Band-Maid!

That’s why you’re supposed to listen also to the second song in the video: BLACK HOLE.
This is the only time you will ever get that opening for Manners when they play live.
Yes that ending was a lead in to another song, and the song was Black Hole which rips.

Thank you for the reaction and welcome to the Unseen World, the name the album. The MV for Manners was the start of the musical journey with Band Maid and this version made me realize how much actually happens with the bass line. It is not just a simple groove, a good part of the melody is actually bass - I learned that if I don’t carefully listen to bass and drum I actually overlook very important parts of their compositions in general. Anyway, why not stay on this world so I suggest No God, latest official live, that one is quite different… Have fun! :)

It's amazing when they play this at a gig. Because everyone in the place knows the song and join in with Miku's ha-ha-ha-ha's and yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah's. Its truly a trip.
The Rhythm-Guitar player & Founder of BAND-MAID= MIKU plays a Zemaitis Guitar which is made in Japan & the Bass-player MISA plays a Black Cloud Bass, also made in Japan… both have unique-amazing sound-quality
At the time of this video, MISA thru Orange, Miku through EVH 5150, Kanami thru Mesa Boogie 3x...Kanami is now thru a Bogner.

Based on both of your personal preferences on videos, “Secret My Lips” splits the uprights. A live performance overdubbed with the studio track. Oh, and the song kills, too 🤘🏽
The "cigarette smoke" bass is a J-bass, and is one of many Black Cloud (Japanese Boutique luthier) Private Reserve basses in Misa's stable. She switched to Aguilar rig in 2023 from the Classic Orange setup. This was probably because she started to develop custom PU's for her BC "triple burst" relic PJ5 debuted Jan 2023. This resulted in a BC PJ5 Misa line being offered (made to order) to the public for $3100 USD (a bargain), and the quality is as or better than her PR, as stated by Misa. She even has stated that she may use one in recording sessions or live shows just to show how good they are, Po! 🦍🍌
All of MISA’s basses since late 2017 have been from Black Cloud, but they are all based on classic Fender models, apart from one SG-style bass they made for her.

One of my favorite songs by the Maids. I actually prefer the studio version of this because Kanami's guitar is doing a lot of small things that gets lost in the live version

MISA did start with a Fender Jazz Bass, but no, it's not. That one is Black Clouds take on one. She now only plays Black Cloud Basses exclusively, and just released a Signature model, which is a more Jaguar style. She can also be seen playing a Precision SG 5 String Bass. This LIVE was online during the COVID Clampdown.
I thought that SG bass was also a Black Cloud.
The SG style red one , is also a Black Cloud Custom from there Private reserve .
This is a Stream concert they did for their fans to watch online because they had to cut their tour short during covid. It's OK, but in front a crowd is where they shine live... this live version...could have just done the MV.
I personally believe that the "Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha" part is Miku chiding those who said that they would never succeed... and she's right.
This video has to be listened to together with the next song, Black Hole! If the two songs end here, it will lose half its appeal.
There is a reason why this official video has two songs.
I think when it comes to live vs studio album it depends on production and the band. Sometimes even song to song. The live version of Play and Domination make the studio tracks obsolete in my book. I will gladly trade the fidelity of those studio tracks for live energy, crowd vocals and extended instrumentals. I would also say The Warning's new album isn't great from what I've heard, and then I heard the live versions of one or two songs and they were way better to the point they should scrap the studio and just release a live version of that album.
Of course, this version is from their online only setup, so I'd take the studio track for this song.

Your least favourite Band-Maid song is someone's top favourite - happens all the time with Band-Maid because they play pretty much all kinds of rock. You know metal is a rock subgenre to start with, right? as well as punk and progressive, blues rock and rock ballads are also rock.
Well, the song tends to be different with live versions, nowadays, particularly with Japanese musicians, so the idea that the sound is better with the original cut is only true on the fidelity level. For example, this song, Manners, which is just one more example of how you should only listen to Band Maid live. By that I mean to radically disagree that the music is better in the non-live version. A HUGE loss (on a bunch of levels) if that is how you hear them.
Incidentally, PRS Custom: $2200. Black Smoke 5-string: $6000
IMHO, Band-Maid is #1 because they rock. Coke is #1 because of Jack Daniels. HANABIE is a female metalcore band from Japan.
Damn I'm the opposite. I prefer live version.
