  • Tuesday morning, Dec. 9th, 1980, ABC Television's "Good Morning America" featured extensive coverage of the tragic death of John Lennon. Hosts David Hartman and Stephanie Edwards interviewed many show business luminaries who knew John Lennon, or had worked with him during his career.
This is my video compilation of all the segments broadcast on "Good Morning America" that day, spanning most of the two hours dedicated to reporting on the death of Mr. Lennon. My entire compilation of all these "Good Morning America" segments has been edited into four separate videos.
In "Good Morning America" video one, David Hartman opens the 7 o'clock hour announcing the death of John Lennon. Mr. Hartman then introduces ABC news anchorman, Steve Bell, who provides all the "hard news" information surrounding Lennon's death. A news video is presented, featuring a voice-over by Geraldo Rivera, who had a friendship with John Lennon. In the last segment of video one, co-host Stephanie Edwards introduces Pat Collins, who files her news report live, just outside the front gate of the Dakota apartment building where John and his wife, Yoko Ono, had resided, and where John Lennon was shot. Here is the link to video #1: • The Death of John Lenn...
In "Good Morning America" video two, host David Hartman interviews Dave Sholin, of the RKO Radio Network and an air personality of KFRC Radio, San Francisco. Mr. Sholin had just conducted a three hour interview for radio with John and Yoko earlier in the day in which John Lennon was murdered. After the Dave Sholin interview concluded, our local ABC TV affiliate in Phoenix, AZ, Channel 3, KTVK TV, aired their local five minute news segment, "Good Morning Phoenix", featuring Ed Bradford. In the final segment of video two, David Hartman and Stephanie Edwards introduce ABC News anchor, Steve Bell, for another news segment. Here is the link to video #2: • The Death of John Lenn...
In "Good Morning America" video three, host David Hartman interviews disc jockey, "Murray the K" and music promoter, Sid Bernstein, on their memories of John Lennon. In the next segment, David Hartman interviews concert promoter, Don Kirshner, and Robert Palmer, music critic of The New York Times. The final segment of this video features co-hosts, David Hartman and Stephanie Edwards, closing out the first hour of "Good Morning America". Here is the link to video #3: • The Death of John Lenn...
In "Good Morning America" video four, David Hartman and Stephanie Edwards open the 8 o'clock hour. ABC News anchor, Steve Bell, presents more news information regarding John Lennon's death and ABC News correspondent, Rita Sands, reports from outside the Dakota apartment building. In the next segment, Geraldo Rivera presents the history of the Beatles and John Lennon's career. In the following segment, Stephanie Edwards introduces ABC News correspondent, Pat Collins, who reports live from outside the Dakota apartment building. Ms. Collins interviews a famous resident of the Dakota, columnist Rex Reed. Following that report by Pat Collins, ABC News anchor, Steve Bell, presents another news segment. In the final segment of this video, David Hartman and Stephanie Edwards close out the 8 o'clock hour of "Good Morning America". Here is the link to video #4: • The Death of John Lenn...

John had so much to give to us. The man (if you want to call him that) that killed him took more away from us then just a person.

The Beard Dream, I call him an insect. I've forgiven him (I think), but anyone who so callously takes another human being's life is still not fit to be called a man or a woman in my estimation. But then, maybe they are because man is the most destructive force on the planet. Man is the only member of the animal kingdom who kills with premeditated thought and with extreme prejudice. Thankfully, most of us are not like that. It seems to only surface in those who have an evil heart.

@@dootdoot94xo44 geez why do these videos attract so many attention-seeking hyper-religious lowlifes? You have been indoctrinated my friend. ‘You can’t mock God and get away with it’- so it was part of God’s plan to have him callously shot 4 times in the back? Do you listen to yourself? Do you have any friends? Geez man…

I felt very uneasy just with how they play a clip of an interview John gave and the host, with the reality that John Lennon is dead, mentions that was something John said yesterday. Idk how exactly to explain it but it’s just gut wrenching, as someone born a decade after this happened, to be imagining a scenario where I’m speaking of John Lennon having been very much alive just yesterday in a reality where he’s now no longer with us.

I know what you mean, think about this at 5pm he finished that interview and went to the studio by 11:07pm hes dead and by 9am the next morning he was cremated, gone forever so quick. Its insane how fast he was gone

    December 8, 1980
    by Mark R. Elsis
"I am going into an unknown future, but I'm still all here,
and still while there's life, there's hope."
    John Lennon, December 8, 1980
John Lennon was the greatest singer-songwriter and the most influential political artist of the twentieth century. He was assassinated on Monday, December 8, 1980, walking into the Dakota, his home on the upper West side of Manhattan, New York City.
In mid-November of 1980, I told my closest friends, John Lennon was about to be assassinated. I told them the powers that be were going to blame it on a lone crazy deranged fan, and that this person would never have a trial. I don't know how I knew all of this would come to be, except to say that besides my parents, John Lennon, someone whom I had never met, was the most significant person in my life. Perhaps because of my lifelong adoration, I was tapped into a precognitive form of what Dr. Rupert Sheldrake postulated in his theory, Morphic Resonance.
I was driving my taxi in Manhattan on that beautifully warm Monday evening of December 8, 1980. At around 10 pm, I was traveling without any passengers, when I passed by the Dakota.
About an hour later, I was still driving my taxi while listening, as always, to Vin Scelsa on WNEW-FM 102.7, when he suddenly announced John Lennon had been shot. A short time later, while trying to hold back tears, he announced the death of John Lennon.
John Lennon Assassination Announced By Vin Scelsa On WNEW-FM December 8, 1980 (7:38)
    www.bitchute.com/video/pPJKwDcY12Tx
When Vin Scelsa broke this horrible news of John Lennon's death, I was with a woman passenger in my taxi. I was on East End Avenue, the same street where I was born, in Doctor's Hospital. As soon as my passenger heard the news, she immediately broke out crying. Soon there were tears in my eyes and rolling down my checks.
I composed myself, turned my off duty light on, and finished driving my passenger to her home in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn (one block from where my paternal Grandmother lived). I dropped her off, waited until she was inside her home safely, and then headed straight to the Dakota.
It was about 11:45 pm when I arrived, and already there was a large group of people gathered. I double-parked my Peugeot 504 taxi just about twenty feet West of the archway, in front of the Dakota.
I opened the sunroof of my taxi and placed a portable speaker on the roof so people could hear WNEW-FM live. Soon hundreds of people had gathered outside of the Dakota. Throughout that solemn night, thousands of fans arrived, mourned, and left.
I know about these thousands of people coming to pay their respects and grieve the tragic loss of John in the middle of the night because I stayed in front of the Dakota for the next nine hours.
It was heartbreakingly sad for me to witness. At any one time during the night, there were dozens of grown men and women openly weeping like babies.
These nine hours were the catalyst that transformed my life. I swore on John's blood that I would do everything I possibly could to enlighten humanity and make our world better for future generations.
And every day for the last forty years, I have been doing just that.

So it was that the greatest legend in British pop music to date, fell not in Liverpool but in the rich archways of New York preaching nothing but love, peace and an end to war. The man who shall not be named lives on protected by the very system that let him carry his weapon. May he suffer a worse fate.

I will never forget that morning in Dublin as I went around my city and people were crying in cars and street corners here is a song I wrote about that day
"When dreams they bloom and die we ask the question why
The purpose of our lives for the ones that's left behind
To decipher and revel the message in the seed that makes us look inside
To where our love it hides because love it never dies love it never dies"

GOVT back then hated John bc of his honesty, messages in his music warning us AGAINST war BUT peace was foremost in his public rallies and walks AGAINST hate and subliminally AGAINST our ROGUE GOVT. John was a man for peace and Love, you can hear his words in his music. 'Imagine' says it all. He was an exceptional man and talent! His memory of Love will never die.
GOVT was threatened by Johns politics. I have NO doubt our GOVT was behind his Assasination. Thats what l thought, thats what l know!
      RIP John.......
