whole lotta flashy platitudes and visuals but almost no substance or real discussion of changes or improvements. Polaris (and all the other manufactures) must love the commercials you make for them!
You do have a point.. I like the Polaris better than Can-Am, but I ended up buying a Maverick do to the leg room. I'm 6-2 I wish Polaris made more leg room for tall Customers.
SO many "this is a commercial comments"... The Title of their show is "Dirt trax Television"... as in a TV SHOW (Entertainment?) not "Dirt trax NO BS straight facts Atv&SxS Reviews" Rob Graham has it right. if you're an offroad enthusiast thats why you watch dirt trax to see and hear some impressions of these very capable/experienced riders taking the newest machines for a good friggin RIP.. and people hating specifically on this video... its titled "test ride" not "Ride Review" there for more of a long winded expression of an experience rather than straight facts no bs is appropriate. Cheers
Loved your video. We have the RZR XP 1000 and Wildcat X ATV's and we tour with them, they are well built and hold up excellently on our Las Vegas trails.
Buying latest and greatest side by side will only lead to regret when the next one comes along. You'll never have the biggest and greatest while in the mean time dropping thousands upon thousands of dollars while trying to achieve so.
Anyone saying this is biased or some sort of Polaris commercial obviously hasn't seen dirt trax or been in a 1k. First of all, these guys are Canadian, so they should be biased towards can am if anyone, but they seem to love arctic cat the most. Really I just think they love atvs and sxs and love to get people excited about them. You guys should watch some. Of their other reviews. But that said, you really have to see a xp1k , no, I think you have to drive one to understand. It really is on another level entirely. Haters insert hate below.
These reviews are almost too rehearsed. Like I'm watching a Polaris commercial. Don't fudge the results to keep the freebies coming from manufacturers. Please keep honesty #1
***** This isn't a motorcycle. This is a two-seated, all-wheel-drive, four-wheeled vehicle with a rollcage built into it. It's much heavier than a motorcycle.
When will this segment get a sequential transmission instead of the CVT? Sound is boring, power delivery is boring. For 20k a paddle shifted sequential with a clutch pedal (a la BAC Mono) would really liven things up.
+dirt trax television i'm not sure if ypu guys have or not yet. but cpuld you please do a video on the xp 4 1k? i am looking into getting one but can't find any good videos. i feel like it would feel powerless.
AJ is a very skilled rider. I liked the video, but would have liked seeing some more of him pushing it though its paces. Any idea when you will get the new Yamaha YXZ to test?
I drove one last weekend, impressive performance, seats are WAYY to small and the engine braking checks out at low speeds. My maverick seems a better build quality and much better driver cockpit, still it rode much too rough even on the softest settings...that said its the ONLY Polaris I would consider owning, nice enthusiast machine and very capable.
Hey Dirt Trax, can you cover Dakar 2017 event and UTV that won? I'm surprised to find there is nothing about those pony rigs anywhere(technical stuff). The guy that came 54th last year won this year's UTV category. I can go cover 2018 if not.....
Wildcat seems to hold its own in every aspect except power, I think the 900 had about the same power as the wildcat. But the wildcat is still fast and costs a little less, especially if you get the base model, they go for around 17K. It comes down to preference. Some will pick the wildcat, some the rzr, some will go with the maverick. There's really no bad choice but it seems the rzr is the fastest and that's what will sell it for a lot of people.
Got to drive one these with my boys in NH and man these things can tear it up going 50+mph full throttle in narrow non passable trails was a rush never really tested the suspension like this guy but i wish it had a little more torque or hp because to me the throttle response felt a little little sluggish but other than that this thing is a RUSH at full throttle very tail happy never tested the 4wd but man yea RUSH
I still think these should be about 130hp. I mean they use Canam uses the rotax motor which is the same size that was in the Aprilia Tuono that produced 130hp. Now that would be fun!
So you say in the intro that they didn't dip their toe in the water first, well I would say thats exactly what they did for a long time with the Early Razr to see if people would really pay that much more for a easier version of a Quad, culminating is big profits and ultimatly leading to 18in suspension, 25,000$ side by sides, that people are happy to plunk down 6yr financing on and can only drive 20% of trails, it might be industry leading, but I don't get it over an ATV or a Dirt Bike
After one light roll over I needed a roll cage, one tie rod and some frame straightening. These things are too flimsy for off road. Everyone off my friends that have a rzr have had the same Issues. They are fast and fun but keep it on 4 wheels. Way to flimsy
hi dirt tracks team or anyone who could answer my question. i was looking into the rzr 170 and was wondering if you could tell me if a full size adult could fit in one. TIA
These things need a 5spd sequential gearbox like the rally cars, then you can have some real driving fun. Until then I wont being paying 30 thousand CAD for one.
t dub coming from someone that has driven 170 miles in a rzr 1k and raced every side by side on the market can am and the wildcat don't got shit on a 1k i was even told by a wildcat x owner that i took for a ride it was the best riding fastest thing he has ever ridden in. on the dunes the only SxS i found it was fun to keep up with was another 1k. so before you say something sucks have some wheel time in it so you don't make urself look dumb
Honestly for 20k I'd like to see an "on the fly" transmission in more side by sides, it would suit the sport trail riders better when shifting from high to low and reverse, I don't care for the manual synchro design at all. It may just be a matter of time though.
How is this a TEST RIDE? I didn't hear a single negative comment about this thing. Nothing is perfect which means...this was nothing more than a sales pitch!
So how much did Polaris pay you for this hyped up review or are they ur sponsor? The only advantage this new XP 1000 has is more power but it still is not blowing the doors off the other two. I have seen in person straight line races and it barely wins especially in off road conditions. The Wildcat X and Xrs are superior in handling while the XP requires a Hans device to keep one from neck injuries. I will take the slightly lesser powered Wildcat X any day. Heck I would even take the Xrs instead
If you haven't strapped into this SXS and pressed the gas, then you have no idea. The suspension is superior to the Wildcat and the Maverick's and the engine easily trumps the other two. You'll likely see our comapro this season. Don't expect Can-Am and Arctic to sit on their hands though. Expect them respond in a big way.
Love to do a trip out west for 4 days or more testing all 1000 models or turbos in real world conditions . Go through towns, mountains , mud, snow and streams while pushing them with new drivers, If you need a volunteer I am up for the challenge +Dirt Trax Television.
It's already insane with the 1000 in it. 107 horsepower makes for a fairly exciting ride when you press the gas pedal. You're right though, with the 1000 on the table now, curious to see if Can-Am will drop its 1330 into a jacked up Maverick chassis.
Dirt Trax Television a 1000cc or 1200cc 4 cylinder sport bike engine has around 180hp..and most of them are 5 or 6 speed transmission, and they are insanely fast.
Is a 1000cc enough? Will have to be; as in certain areas (Eastern Canada) we are limited by law, to a 1 liter displacement. Our Provincial government loves to get their nose in to everything... Quebec is an important market for Polaris. Luckily, lobbying is still legal in our parts.
This thing will go 80 mph bone stock on 87 octane gas. Sounds fast enough for me. I've seen built rzrs that could go well over 100 mph, I think I saw one that topped out at like 115 mph. I don't care who you are, that's scary fast.
imperial valley 250, san filipe 250, Baja 500, 2014 GNCC standings ALL being won or have been won by can am maverick, GNCC 7 of the top 10 overall are mavericks. mud nationals won by a maverick, Polaris didn't even make the finals, I haven't found a single xp900 or 1000 that can run with my mav. so tell me again how much better the rzr is. ive had no issues at all with my mav, my buddies that ride the rzrs always have issues, always!
Crike... this review is a mix of Lord of the Rings, an infomercial, music video and sociology 100 class. Cool rig, but not like someone just invented the flux capacitor.
What ever happened to a strait forward genuine independent review that was not paid for by the products company and the scrip was not written by a professional writer? Don't get me wrong. I like Polaris. I even own a RZR. But this is nothing more than a long commercial. The poetry in the scrip and the over the top cinematic is too much for me. The title should read "Test Ride: 2014 Polaris RZR XP 1000 by Polaris".
Not trying to hate on anyone who buys one of these but I gotta say they are a horrible investment... They depreciate pretty hard. On the flip side if you would have invested $20,000 in Polaris stock 5 years ago you would be sitting at over $140,000 right now. I can't say I put that much into the company but let's just say am glad I invested my money and continued to ride my 2001 Honda 400EX instead of buying one of these.
its relative i guess. some people have so much extra it doesn't matter. others don't care about investments and live in the moment. what they all have in common is they are adrenaline junkies.
***** Well unless you've inherited a lot of money I know just where you fall on the wealth totem pole... If you wanna work forever you're on the right path for that. I'm shooting for retiring around 35-40 years old and you can't do that dropping 100k on all the toys you want.
***** Also you seem to miss the point I was trying to make. With the few grand I did invest in the company I could buy one of these cash if I was so inclined and not have to finance a 20k vehicle I could only use on my days off.
Cant wait for the review on the RZR Turbo
Dear Santa, ...
whole lotta flashy platitudes and visuals but almost no substance or real discussion of changes or improvements. Polaris (and all the other manufactures) must love the commercials you make for them!
Couldn't agree more Aaron. While I am impressed with the Rzr, this is not a review, it's a commercial.
That is so true, most polaris "reviews" are always advertisement on this channel
This machine was a game changer.
I can hear all the Can-Am fanboys crying and unsubscribing from this channel.
You do have a point.. I like the Polaris better than Can-Am, but I ended up buying a Maverick do to the leg room. I'm 6-2 I wish Polaris made more leg room for tall Customers.

Lots of deep words and thoughts. Looked and felt like a commercial for Polaris.
Another awesome review!!! I can't wait to see the Scrambler 1000 test!
Wait until you ride one they're nucking futs.
Loved your video. We have the RZR XP 1000 and Wildcat X ATV's and we tour with them, they are well built and hold up excellently on our Las Vegas trails.
Love mine, worth every nickel. The engineering behind it is pretty amazing stuff.
How many miles you got on it?
EPIC.. Excellent review

I think its been asked 4 or 5 time. What is the song at 6:15. The beat is sweet. Any Idea's?
did you ever figure out the song from the video? I've been trying to figure it out too
Did anyone ever figure out what the song is??
These reviews are almost too rehearsed. Like I'm watching a Polaris commercial. Don't fudge the results to keep the freebies coming from manufacturers. Please keep honesty #1
hard to believe that its only 107hp, aren't most 800cc sleds in the 160hp range?
I’ve got a question totally unrelated to the rzr, but what’s that song y’all used around the 6:00 mark till the end of the video?
It’s not a real song he makes his own songs for his vids
An ACE 1k would be cool, great video
Honda Hillbillies death trap
Someone should speak to Polaris about making a RZR XP 1000T. T meaning Turbo. They should add a turbocharger, and make this animal 160-170hp.
***** This isn't a motorcycle. This is a two-seated, all-wheel-drive, four-wheeled vehicle with a rollcage built into it. It's much heavier than a motorcycle.
Now whit this technology you make this rides up to 300-350hp.
BloodstainedSinner the RZR is here now
4 years later now we have the maverick and rzr
RZR 1000 2014 85 mph 4500 kilo ....fast machine love to play in the mud.. hill climing
When will this segment get a sequential transmission instead of the CVT? Sound is boring, power delivery is boring. For 20k a paddle shifted sequential with a clutch pedal (a la BAC Mono) would really liven things up.
Dream toy right here.
Polaris always does it best
What would make it even better is a four or five speed with a clutch.
+dirt trax television i'm not sure if ypu guys have or not yet. but cpuld you please do a video on the xp 4 1k? i am looking into getting one but can't find any good videos. i feel like it would feel powerless.
That thing is awesome!! :))
AJ is a very skilled rider. I liked the video, but would have liked seeing some more of him pushing it though its paces. Any idea when you will get the new Yamaha YXZ to test?
+Blu Rub No media outlets have one just yet, but we'll all get a spin in the next couple weeks and you'll see our report here.

My maverick seems a better build quality and much better driver cockpit, still it rode much too rough even on the softest settings...that said its the ONLY Polaris I would consider owning, nice enthusiast machine and very capable.
That's a sick machine
picking up one of these or a rzr 4 800 this weekend. What do yall think is the better one?
I hope that next can am will put a 1200 CC motor in then polaris will have some catching up to do
Polaris has a 1300cc engine thats been in development for 2 years but i wouldn't expect to see it unless the fanbase pushes for it.
Knallkoper Morder you will see it when cam am makes something faster than the 1k and they need to put them back in their place lol
Hey Dirt Trax, can you cover Dakar 2017 event and UTV that won? I'm surprised to find there is nothing about those pony rigs anywhere(technical stuff). The guy that came 54th last year won this year's UTV category. I can go cover 2018 if not.....
Comparison to the wildcat?

I want to see the fox, desert and highlifter editions reviewed. At least one of them.
Hey dirt trax, could you do a video of the 2015 rzr 1000 xp vs can am maverick 1000r vs artic cat wildcat x limited, And great video by the way
What song is at 2:50??
Mr Phenom by rebel
DEAR SANTA
which is the name of the song that appears in the last part of the video I can desir porfabor !! thanks
So what should my dealer sell me this for and feel i got the good deal ???
King of pep talks

so why hasnt a company came out with a stick shift utv yet?
Where can you buy them?
Whats that song called starting 6;20 ?
It’s not a real song he makes the songs he uses in his videos

+C Genious You got your wish. Look at the Yamaha YXZ 1000. Although I think I would personally enjoy a clutchless paddle shifter on one.
I know! Those fuckers read my mind.
Give the 1 K a rest.... 1000 still works
I want one!!
its crazy this was almost 5 years ago...
I know right I loved this video
Think I'm gonna wait for can am to release their big boy!!
they do have a big boy its the maverick 1000
Yeah I know but I have a feeling they are gonna one up polaris
BigStallion80 yeah probly

In which case Polaris will one up Can-Am. Polaris is the leader in side by sides.
Im going to wait for the Can Am 1200
Don't bother---the RZR 1300 will follow.
sldl04 Then i will trade 1200 in for a 1500
My buddy bought a new rzr 1000 and he went to go in a field to do burn outs and busted the cb joint and ruined that whole weekend for him
the best s&s

Is this street legal? I saw a license plate
+Edison Alvarez Trail registration. You're able to ride sides of roads in Ontario Canada now though.
lucky Canadians. I wish it was here in Massachusetts. I will feel so cool.
I live on cape cod where r u at. In nh you can drive them on the road way up north in Pittsburg and Lancaster nh. I'm a dirt biker mainly though.
How is this a TEST RIDE? I didn't hear a single negative comment about this thing. Nothing is perfect which means...this was nothing more than a sales pitch!
I regret buying a 2013 Can Am Commander now.. I want one of those but a four seater.
Richard Caballero there is a 4wheeler
4seater
20k? You could buy 3 brute force 750s for that price O.O I'll take a look at the wildcat trail though

Beautiful machine but Damn the price tag :(
is it Automatic or Manual?
+TheCameron9785 Auto with a CVT.
+Dirt Trax Television ok thanks
+Dirt Trax Television does it have a clutch?
+TheCameron9785 only manuals have a clutch buddy
+Gage Cook actually the rzr has a CVT system so it has 2 clutches and isn't a manual
I wish they would make full size truck versions of these.
They do... they're called trophy trucks.
Ben546 Thanks. I never knew the official name of those trucks, but I've always liked them.
Awsome
Bonita maquina. Lastima q aquí en España tengan unos precios elevados
I believe that Polaris rzr 1000 and the scrambler 1000 r can ams only real competition
put a 1200cc street bike engine on that thing, that would be insane
It's already insane with the 1000 in it. 107 horsepower makes for a fairly exciting ride when you press the gas pedal. You're right though, with the 1000 on the table now, curious to see if Can-Am will drop its 1330 into a jacked up Maverick chassis.
Dirt Trax Television a 1000cc or 1200cc 4 cylinder sport bike engine has around 180hp..and most of them are 5 or 6 speed transmission, and they are insanely fast.
awesome
Why was this shot in the back drop of a meth compound?
Build it with a solid rear axle so it stays flat in the corners.
BAHAHAHAHA
I wish I could test ride quads and get paid for it
Is a 1000cc enough? Will have to be; as in certain areas (Eastern Canada) we are limited by law, to a 1 liter displacement. Our Provincial government loves to get their nose in to everything...
Quebec is an important market for Polaris. Luckily, lobbying is still legal in our parts.
This thing will go 80 mph bone stock on 87 octane gas. Sounds fast enough for me. I've seen built rzrs that could go well over 100 mph, I think I saw one that topped out at like 115 mph. I don't care who you are, that's scary fast.
our rzr 1000 non turbo feels powerless
this is a video of non stop metaphor lol...
Turbo would wreck everything. As soon as it hits the mud or water it breaks because of how hot it gets.
100hp out of a 1k Is pretty sad They need to focus on engine tuning next time
I'll take two
You can build a long travel buggy for 15,000 wheat can't catch me
I know I'm getting one
Hi
Still needs bigger rubber
People have told me to stay away from Polaris....
An over built go kart?? Yeah right!! Obviously you have never ridden one of these so called "over built go karts"
I would rather buy this than a car.
Polaris rzr 1000... will you marry me?
good
still rather a can am....this thing will break when you push it too hard
I know a half dozen teams that ran this year's Dakar that would disagree with you. Not to mention hundreds of troops overseas.
Polaris' build quality is superior to Can-Am--by far.
sldl04 you are a fool..... Polaris build quality is on the bottom half of the list buddy.
These Nutts thank you i'm glad someone agrees

Polaris quality, I'll stick with my arctic cat
This is not a test ride this is a commercial! Come on guys really?
My dad has 126 Horse power
Nice commercial! I thought I was going to see a review...
I stopped watching when he said "coin purse".
the 1000 is just a 900 XP with a whole diffrent body And a tiny bit faster.
How about a new chassis, motor and EVERYTHING...
no
yes
tim firestac fuck your dumb
no need for that language ms
