For those who are struggling to make this work (the cloth doesn't tear / the mesh explodes) here are some FIXES THAT SOLVED IT FOR ME: - the topology of your object must be good, otherwise it won't work (so quads-only, no weird polygon orientation, not too dense but not too low-poly either) - the scale of your object must be reasonable compared to the scene, I used the basic Cube as a refernce (200x200x200 cm) and scaled my object to a similar size. - the tearing actually happens in the Cloth Surface object, not on the base geometry, so make sure that you: 1) apply the cloth surface tag and give it some thickness (try it on a plane beforehand, you must be able to see the thickness a little bit - seems obvious but for me it wasn't working partially because of a very low thickness value) and 2) put your Cloth Surface object inside of a Subdivision Surface object and give it 2 sub levels, decrease to 1 if your PC is struggling. - Assign your Vertex Map tag to the Stiffness inside the parameters of the Cloth Tag, not to the Friction. - Use the Belt tag on a random object placed close to your own object (or inside, if your object is hollow) to "keep" the cloth in place while it's being torn by the Fields. there are some extra steps to do here, so for more info watch this: th-cam.com/video/QqfGt-qcnrs/w-d-xo.html You could also try this: vimeo.com/73997991 Hope this helps
@thepixellab looking for an updated version of this. The Cloth tag in C4D 2023 is completely different now. Forces does not show any of these options such as gravity anymore.
This makes my C4D almost blow up my pc while having lines in the viewport. These tutorials all look amazing but are not even accesible to mid tier computers...
Subscribed because Google news feed has recommended me this tutorial. There's still hope in cinema4d community
For new C4D versions just enable Legacy Solver in basic tab of Cloth Tag
thanks dude!
Amazing! Would love to check how it works in the new 2023 cloth engine!
Thanks a lot for that great technique!
Excellent tips!
thanks for the quick tips!
great as always 😊
oh, badass!
Awesome - thanks for sharing. Best regards
