For those who don't understand what's going on...Ukraine's current government doesn't care about it's people and they want as much confrontation and escalation as possible to get the west involved in the conflict. They are forcing as much as they can to provoke Russia to attack with nukes. Russia, who has an intress of reintegrating territories and people back in its sphere of influence, is for now able to hold back. about 50% of Ukraines population has either left the country already and probably 1 Mio soldiers died on ukranian side. That's why the Ukranian government is trying to escalate the situation, because time is running out for them.

well we know it was kinetic, we know it was 6 subwar heads per 6 initial warheads.
We know the military base was turned to dust we know it was travelling at minimum Mach 10
We know KE=0.5*mv^2, we also know every force has an equal and opposite force
we know the 36 war heads hit at around 200m below the surface (according to leaked unconfirmed sources)
if we knew the weight of the warheads when impact, we could calculate the energy stored in the war head using e=mc2 and then apply that energy expelled upwards from say 200m below ground, know the density of 1970's Soviet concrete and building of that era, we can get a decent snapshot of the destructive power.
early estimates are that it had the same explosive power as the Hiroshima bomb. (15 kilotons)

What was revolutionary about Oreshnik? It's an IRBM, which are all pretty much hypersonic. Mach 10 it's even that fast by today's IRBM standards. MIRV's have been around almost as long as the IRBM. It's mobility isn't unique.
It is new I guess but based on older designs so... I'm not in the Russian military but as far as I can see it doesn't bring any new capabilities to the table that Russia hasn't had since the Soviet Union days. Maybe it will be reliable? I'm sure it must use the latest and greatest guidance systems but beyond that I am stumped on its revolutionary capabilities.

It's just a rocket loaded with a MIRV war head. The speed doesn't matter, the accuracy doesn't matter. It's a device we (humanity) agreed not to use, because using it would destroy all of us.
Putin didn't showcase new technology, he showcased a new willingness to destroy humanity, including Russia itself.
It's crazy to me that Russians do not know about mutual assured destruction and ICBMs.
This shit was established like 60 years ago, and now Russians celebrate breaking a international treaty, put in place to protect humanity from nuclear annihilation.
This is a new level, Russia truly has to be stopped, no matter what it costs.

These sort of ICBMs are not new.
They are 40 year old technology.
USA and Russia agreed to not use ICBMs in war, because they are too powerful, and both sides posses the ability to completely destroy each other with them.
This was not a display of technology. The ability to completely destroy a building, or a country, or the planet, was already established 60 years ago when the nuclear bombs and the ICBMs were invented.
This was a display of Russias willingness to risk humanity.
Putin repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons. This is just another step into that direction.
The funny thing is, it's ultimately meaningless. It does not create a strategically advantage, because it has always been possible to use ICBMs you can't defend against for all sides.
The world has lived in fear of nuclear annihilation for many decades now, and nobody believes Putin is insane enough to actually do it. The situation has not changed.
What this use of ICBMs truly shows, is that Russia isn't doing too well. The war and it's progress are so devastating and embarrassing to putin, that he is willing to remind the world that he CAN destroy us all, the entirety of humanity, including himself.
      Why would he do this?
He hopes it scares the west.
      What is the proper response?
To not be scared. You can't let a mad man dictator blackmail humanity by threatening nuclear annihilation. It didn't work 60 years ago, and it won't work now.
If Russia is truly going to use further ICBMs like this, it can expect full opposition, and not just from the west.
Do you think China likes to be threatened? Do you think India likes to be threatened? This was a huge mistake, and Putins allies might actually turn against him.
Putin isn't showing his strengwhere, he is showing that he has completely lost his mind.
So be it, send your ICBMs. See how humanity will answer that.

I see a lot of hope and discussions about the THAAD system. I want to reassure you, THAAD will not be able to shoot down Oreshnik. And the reason is not entirely in the hypersonic speed. Oreshnik does not fly in an arc along a ballistic trajectory, it remains in the upper layers of the atmosphere at an altitude of 40-50 km (this is very approximate, there is no exact data). At this altitude, there is not enough air to create a braking effect for the missile, but enough to form plasma. Plasma has a remarkable effect - it absorbs radio waves. In summary: along the entire flight path, Oreshnik is invisible to radars

Wow, “cope” is even in your name! How convenient. First off, you russians always like to lie about NATO troops being in Ukraine. So far, there have been exactly 0 NATO troops in Ukraine. So, you’ve been caught in one lie so far. As far as demonstrating that little display from that 2010-era ‘oreshnik’ IRBM, it wasn’t putin’s “restraint” that resulted in the night launch. It was the fact that you cannot see the MIRVs that well during the day. The nighttime launch and low cloud cover over Dnipro city that day produced an ideal setting for the missile’s actions to be shown. It was impressive looking, for sure - but we have all already seen this capability in various US missiles for decades.
So, because you’ve lied so much in your post, Ivan - I have to report you for misinformation. I hope others do too. We have to call you propagandists out every single time, to stop our friends here in the US, UK, etc from believing the crap you type, and we do. 😊

    • @Rocket_scientist_88
      @Rocket_scientist_88 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@joshicune That was the only reason this old missile was tested at night - it had nothing to do with putin’s “restraint”. It was more dramatic at night, and the cloud cover made it look even more eerie than normal.
But it missed the target by quite a ways. The Yuzhmash factory did not have any damage… but a residential area to the north did. The “oreshnik” missed its target by a little over a mile. That is why this thing will never be used in conventional warfare. And I think we all know that putin is not suicidal, so he will never deploy a nuclear weapon because he knows that will be the end of him.

That 'powerful message' being: the global arms race is back on, without constraints. Let's waste billions on arming ourselves to the teeth, instead of investing in infrastructure beneficial to our respective populations, further enrich the arms manufacturers, provide cheap thrills for keyboard warriors everywhere, and accelerate the chances of ruinous conflict.

Thaad is useless since it's going to use up its magazine fast I e. It stops the first three missiles but nothing after that. Additionally it has a flat flight path making it even harder to target.
We're back to the old arms race. Which I guess should be expected from Soviet era hack Putin.
BTW the development of this missile may have been what caused Trump to pull out of the Treaty in the first place I.e. it was Putin who started up development then.
