sounds amazing, even with that camera, thanks for going over the list of features, albeit not a long huge expensive list , but a half dozen sensible upgrades I''ll be looking for thanks to you
On the cartridge emulators: The stock front shocks rely on holes that fluid passes through to slow down the compression. When the forks compress. It's a crude method that gives a smooth ride, but tends to cause brake dive.
This high speed compression setting is adjustable. You unscrew the fork endcaps, slide out the spring preload sleeves then use a coathanger with a hook end to reach down in and take the emutators out. You can then turn the adjutment knob, then reinstall. You can usually do all this without removing the handle bars. You'll need to look up how to do it for your specific bike as I'm not familiar with them.
Nice bike, I am a little partial, because we share the same colored K6 SV650 naked bike, I bought my bike with a little over 2000 miles, but stock can, and it has almost 19,000 miles, I switch between 2 bikes, or it would have almost 40,000 in the last 2 years. Ride safe, yl
When the emulators were installed the person should have taken the shocks apart and drilled out the holes over sized so that they cause no restriction. The emulators are installed just under the springs and provides a tiny hole for slower compression, like with the brakes. This reduces brake dive. Then it has a secondary valve that is larger that will pop open under fast compression. Like when hitting a bump and high speed.
I have just bought a 2005 SV650 (naked), coming off a 1987 ninja 250 (called a GPX250 in Australia, I believe you guys call it an EX250). I agree totally. The SV was a massive shock to the system in terms of grunt right off idle. I will miss the little kwaka tho. Cheers
I sometimes ride 2 up with my wife. She weigh's about 115lbs, give or take. I don't have any issue with her as a passenger. She used to fidget a lot at first, but she's learned the proper etiquette and the bike gets on just fine. You can definitely feel the extra weight on the bike and you need to be more conscious of your braking, but overall the bike performs well. I can't speak for riding 2 up with a heavier person though. My weight fluctuates a lot, right now I weigh around 220lbs.
I rode my friends ninja 250 and I was absolutely stunned how pathetically slow it was.. I was shocked , a stock xr250 or drz250 blows it out of the water. I was expecting about the same power lol hell noooooo.... I remember looking down at the bike mind boggled.. yes I had a zr7 but still ggeezzzz!!
Can you tell me where the headlight mini screen and side cowls came from? Who makes them or a website I could visit. I have a very similar SV which I have spent time and money streetfighting up but up until now have never found a suitable headlight surround. I like the traditional round headlight hence why I have never fitter twin dominators. Fu
These were on the bike when I purchased it, so I have no clue, I thought it was stock for this naked model. Now I'm going to have to take a closer look :)
Hate to tell you this, if that seat was on the bike when you bought it, and had that exhaust system, there is a very good chance it has many more miles than what it showed, seeing the speedo's can be replaced, fairly cheaply. It may have been set up for racing, that is why the special springs are in the front forks, and the exhaust has only the slip on, the racing pipes may have been taken off. In other words no one goes to that much trouble & money just to ride it 1600+ miles. Did the bike come with any records, say where it was bought from, and service done. with such low miles it should have. I have a 2006 sv650 to, and those mirrors are not stock either. I hope this is not the case, but has that feel about it. Looks good though. I started to say this last post, but after watching it again, thought I would share this. They do more than this if the bike is to be raced, they take all the stock parts off including the tires, and chain & sprockets, and replace them to get more money when selling, using a 3rd party is another trick, to keep them out of the negotiations, there could be milage fraud going on here. Run a check on the bikes Vin numbers, and see what shows up, if anything ? Good luck..yl
its not really a supersport it may be a 650 but its a lower revving v-twin with more usable power at lower rpms but it only makes around 75hp compared to 600cc 4 cylinder bikes which typically make over 100hp
I've been riding mine for almost 2 years, and bought it with 8300 miles on it, and i am the 4th owner, Its a solid bike and its a great starter bike etc.
I got a 2006 sv650 and had a ninja 650r feel safer on a naked bike because when your going like 140 and The fairings starts to come off 🤦🏽🤷🏽♂️ then you’ll understand.
If I'm not mistaken, I think that's called the 'bikini fairing'. I haven't had to do that yet, but it doesn't look like to big of a job (famous last words).
i wouldn't even start w/250 just go straight to the sv afterall it's on a full on 600cc supersport so don't waste the money on the 250 if you gonna be getting this

I have a 2007 I got with 3k miles on it, and it's a dream. So much fun. Enjoy!
Been looking at a SV650, and just like you Phoenix I have a Ninja 250 right now.
I love this bike. I think I've decided that this is going to be my first big bike.

Nice bike. I ride a 2003 Z1000 I'm a fan of the naked look of bike's myself
Yeah, something about it is very raw and rugged. I prefer naked over faired.

I have the same year bike as this, but yours is much cleaner than mine ! -rainy UK....

Beautiful. Just needs a fender eliminator. Quite a find.
love your bike, especially being thenaked model, If I wanted all fairings I would buy a gsxr. This will be my first bike
I have a better camera now, I just don't have a proper mic. I'll try to make something soon since the weather is really nice lately.
Did you ever remove the front fairing around the headlight and gauge cluster? If so how easy is that to do?

Thanks for this info, I will definitely check into it. I still have the bike as of today with no issues though! Great bike
synapsis2112 dont worry my 02 sv650s had 28xxx miles i just sold it i was wuth the bike for 1 year with out a problem
87 octane fuel? Here in the UK the lowest I've seen is 95!
Just a different way of rating the gas, look it up, really no difference, on octane.

Found a very similar one myself and looking to view it this week, any big issues come up the more you've ridden it?
I've been riding mine for almost 2 years, and bought it with 8300 miles on it, and i am the 4th owner, Its a solid bike and its a great starter bike etc.
TheSoulMan11 Did end up getting it, agree with everything you've said about it. Nice smooth ride. Cheers :)
+Shift-Light what about 35k miles?
I still own the bike as of today, no issues to date!
this bike is still OK? I want to buy for myself an SV which was made in 2008
Az Öreg should be, I own one ! Very reliable bike
Still running, no problems for 8 years!
ok I purchased it two days ago: suzuki sv 650n , black colour , akrapovic exhaust
beautiful bike, i've been looking for ages for the exact same bike, I'm after a 2006 in light blue. So far all i'm finding is overpriced 2003 models
Yes, both feet touch the ground.
5'10" - US
177.8cm - Rest of the world

How is this bike for riding 2 up?
Gorgeous bike for sure, even today. Note; you don't drive a bike. You "ride" a bike".
Hey man,
Can you make a vid about how good would it be as a beginner bike or something? Vids like it on youtube are shit
I do believe I paid around $4,500. I don't remember the exact amount.
If I'm not mistaken, I think that's called the 'bikini fairing'. I haven't had to do that yet, but it doesn't look like to big of a job (famous last words).
Are you selling it?
No, probably ride it till it dies
i wouldn't even start w/250 just go straight to the sv afterall it's on a full on 600cc supersport so don't waste the money on the 250 if you gonna be getting this
Is this bike for sale? Thx.
Not for sale. Still riding it 6 years later after posting this video!
@@synapsis2112 Thx, let me know if you ever change your mind.
