- Yes, one of my best friends is a Filipino. His name is Mark, although nickname is "Kumar" and some of his family is from the Island of Camiguin in Mindanao.
A few days ago we went to visit Kumar's family in Camiguin. As part of the trip I wanted to bring a pasalubong, and having missed Fiesta this year...
I bought a roasted pig for them.
Although they actually ended up roasting the pig local style called "lechon". You will see that in this video as well as moments with Kumar, his Filipino family, and the ending of our Camiguin waterfall adventure!

If you are thinking about wanting to explore that waterfall in Camiguin... you must go with locals who know the way. IT CAN BE A SKETCHY TRAIL! Or in our case... a difficult river/gorge trek! There is no safety around, and if you got hurt... you are way off in the jungle.
Has anyone here ever been to Camiguin!?
I consider it one of the best places for "first time travellers" to the Philippines.

Yes, I was there in Camiguin with the family on the year 1990's. Was born in Butuan city(Mindanao) but my family migrate in Cebu city. As my father n his friend gave us the tour in Camiguin I was in love with place bcoz it was my first time to see a clear crystal sea water, n the man-made pool of hot water. Yeap, it was a very good therapy n can boil uncook egg. The only fall was known then, was Katibawasan waterfall. I heard that is used now a a source for electric energy. The water is so cold that we put in our sodas to keel cooler while my family were swimming. Oh my gulay! That chonle(lechon) n guandinu(dinuguan) soooo :P yummy. Mao na diha, bahala na HB(high blood). By the way Kyle, I am sure there r still places in Camiguin to be explore. Thanks for showing us the place. Enjoy your life in Mindanao.
I would choose a small 'down-to-earth' banquet in the village over fine dining in the city any day. Kyle, I wish you and Kumar lasting friendship and precious PH memories.

I am always just amazed at the amount of work, actual manual work, it takes to prepare the simplest of things. How spoiled we've become in our country. And yet we have no time to visit or enjoy the simplest of things. Always go go go and get nowhere. Thank you for making this video of the natural beauty that we may not see in real life and to remember to take time. Time is a valuable thing

Wow. How gorgeous is that waterfall? The natural beauty of the Philippines never ceases to amaze me. The trek to get there looks pretty arduous, but it looks like it was more than worth it to see those falls. Kumar, his family, and the barrio they live in seem really awesome. Looks like a very peaceful, tight-knit community. I'm glad you're just chilling and hanging out and enjoying life after all the traveling, vlogging, and editing you've been doing recently!

I didn’t know Kumar is from Camiguin. I’m from the island as well and still have a brother there. Although I have been living in Australia for about 29 years now I left my heart in Camiguin. That really is a nice waterfall that seems still quite untouched. Katibawasan falls during my childhood was similar there was no road and we have to walk in the forest to get there. So hopefully one day the local government will be able to build a road to that area.
I believe there are already many roads now. Even leading up to Tuason falls. Yes, Kumar's mothers side of the family is from Camiguin.

Ben, my maternal grandmother, Mercedes Borromeo Neri, bless her soul, and her ancestors are from Camiguin. We hope to visit my late mother's properties in Camiguin someday.

You really should. Even my kids coz they are either born here or were only 3 to 4 years old when we left Phils they love camiguin of all places in the phils. Since I left I havent been back many times until I got diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer late 2016. I have gone to the island 3 times in the last 1.5 years and planning to go again in oct for the lanzones festival but unsure now coz im undergoing chemo.

LECHON is "rare" and special in the barrios that... when you have lechon (on an ordinary day), people will ask, "whose BIRTHDAY ?... and when there is none... they USUALLY SING "happy birthday" to the GIVER....as a way of acknowledging him and his generosity

When I was last in Davao City my wife and I had planned to go to Medina to visit family and then go to Camiguin from there. Unfortunately we had a "turn of events" regarding her visa which prevented us from going there. I am still determined to go there on our next trip back. After seeing this video; I am even MORE determined. We also have family in CDO which is where I have been wanting to go even before I learned of your channel. Maybe we'll get there to.

Pag may Lechon it is a sign of celebrating a special occasion... one with family and friends. Yan Ang tatak Ng Pinoy.. wow boss na boss si kulas on that duyan eating lansones while waiting for the Lechon to cook🐷. And that yummy dinuguan. Your flying and drone video skills are impressive Kyle. I have one too and I can see the way you are handling....nice touches. I figure you don't much like to chit chat about technicals but I have to ask to see if you'll respond. You seem to have figured out how to limit (even eliminate) the gimbal stutter on the wide left/right pan shots. What did you figure out about that? Mine does it and I don't know if it is a hardware (gimbal) malfunction or a video setting (i.e. fps, 1080/2160P, etc) or just inherent in the drone. Maybe you are still getting the intermittent stutter but do multiple takes or edit out. Just wondering. Thanks.
