That boyfriend in the second story was such a breath of fresh air considering all the stories where the narrator's significant other doesn't take their concerns seriously or is too scared to react. And the fact that he IMMEDIATELY pieced together what happened the second the tires went out and told the girlfriend to hide in the woods was such a massive relief. Happy to hear that they got married and are very happy together, that man is a keeper.

Wow! The 2nd story was terrifying. Imagine being stalked by a creepy couple who had disturbing motives. At least the bf was smart to lead his girlfriend to hide in the woods.
The creepy couple sounds like something from a horror movie.
The worst part is that people will never believe old people aren’t naturally and automatically good. I caught an older couple rifling through my laundry at the laundromat and raised a stink. They said they were just trying to give me their dryer time (which made no sense, because I had more time on my dryer than would be left on theirs by the time they transferred the laundry) and the worker told me I was overreacting and to calm down. I rewashed everything and when I got home and started putting it away, I was missing three thongs. I tried to tell people and they were like, “Old people aren’t perverts, stop.” About two years later, the couple was all over our local news; they’d been arrested for kidnapping a young woman from a 24-hour laundromat and sexually assaulting her. The police think they might have planned to kill her but she got away and ran out onto a highway naked. I don’t think I was in danger, I think they escalated from just stealing panties.

I agree with you in how so many people (including some COPS!) believe that 'old people are always innocent'. When I had my first car accident, I was 18 & only had my license for two months. An old lady ran a blinking red light AND a stop sign....my car was totaled, hers had a dented door & that's all. I had neck injuries & lost college class time.....yet she drove away. She never even asked if I was okay, she hollered at me to 'call the police'. There were no cell phones then, so a neighbor comes out & offers to do so. He was well-dressed yet smiled way too much.........he never called! Luckily atruck driver came by & called. The woman was 80 years old (she tells us this) & is 'worried about her sandwiches' in the car. She tells the cops I was coming awfully fast. WHAT??? I had a blinking yellow-light, she obviously never saw me as she drove through the light & sign! YET THE COP TOOK HER WORD!! Turns out he never even gave her a ticket(!!!!!!!) so my insurance company balked at paying anything! I had to sue her, which gave me no money but 'paid my hospital bill & my attorney'. That's it. One day, I Googled her rather-unique name. Turned out this bitch lived to be 100! So I do know what you mean.

@heyoimlucca There is no way of telling what causes a psychotic break. They can happen to anyone, anytime. She may, otherwise, be high functioning and never got tested.
I mean, I was diagnosed with stuff in my early twenties that I, never in my life, would have thought I had because I don‘t see or hear shit. There are definitely those that do though and they need medication.
She may have already been tested and is aware of a condition she ha and that, paired with the unusual environment, flipped a switch.
If she was on medication and didn‘t take it, that was unacceptably irresponsible of her.
I hope she gets the help she needs.

I don't think she was faking it, I think what really happened was that while the author was sleeping, she went to the bathroom and either had a psychotic break or was taking drugs, leading to what happened after.

Honestly, I thought her actions were pretty stupid, but then I thought that maybe it wasn't. If she had gone to the police before things had gotten out of hand, they wouldn't be able to do anything about it, nor would they care. However, since so much shit had happened, AND the guy got arrested at her boyfriend's place, not only do the police have to do something about it, but also there's no way he can get out of it, meaning he dug himself a deeper hole. I don't know, maybe she was onto something that I never thought of before. I personally would've done something sooner, though.
