I recomend you with a screwdriver remove easyly glases, they are 6 pieces normally, it is less workeous than to masking each fucking cristal. Greetings from Santiago Chile SouthAmerica
Good video I did this with the same light fixtures I have , I didn’t took the time I should to do it right so they came up ok , but great job man not skipping steps !
You can buy old lights at your restore, I've bought two, and redone two. One was damaged in a weird way, as it had been dropped. Then when I took the bent glass, they were all sitting high on the left side.
hey great job with the lights, impressed. Outdoor lighting can be expensive to replace, my outdoor lights just have the paint surface peeling off and no deficiency in the light electrics itself. I will definitely be putting into practice the tips you have shared thank you
Guy, it's funny but I want to make inverse look, it is painting a white wall light (before was black) and now I would like to paint it as bronze finishing. I have a golden color spray can. They are three of them plus a triple lamps column post type. But I feel complicated with this last one, in the scense that rhey are not bronze made. 😶 Thank you for reading my comsí comsá English. if the light fixtures where true copper theres a patina process that can make them turn black or seafoam green , as its an etch type coating it will likely hold a lot better then paint might be fun to make a copper roofed birdfeeder that fits the bronzed copper stuff allready hanging outside , i wouldnt use copper on the feed platform itself as the oxidizing (seafoam green stuff) is toxic (to humans too)
I wondered if I'd find my problem on TH-cam. I've spray painted mine but now can't get that last piece of glass in. I've removed everything....again but still that last piece won't stay within that metal spline, grrrrrrrrrrrrr. What's your secret....I need to watch this to the finish to see.
Just a guess, but make sure all parts are loose until final assembly of the glass pieces in the trim-channel. Perhaps one of the glass guides needs to be widened slightly; just use a screwdriver and pry very gently within the channel. It's cheap metal, so be careful not to break it. Good luck.
@@goesfastandfar Thanks for your help, now I've lost one of the splne, it's actually been much more than 2 mos. since I started this so eventually, it will turn up again.
Don't put in dishwasher. These fixtures have lead and other chemicals that you don't ever want in your dishwasher. Handwash in a plastic pan (dollar store) that you are willing to throw out. Same goes for the sponge and anything else you are going to use on it.
Great video. Thank you! It provided a more realistic idea of the time and detail required to do this job right than I was imagining.
So I have exact same sconces you do, and I was thinking of just quickly cleaning the exterior, masking the glass and just spraying.

Looks great. Beautiful upgrade
Nice video, and your old lamp and door button looks far better painted black 👍
Wow, I have a few cans of spray paint and some aging lights that need touched up. Glad I came across this video! Thanks for the info and tips!
Great video! I’ve switched my outdoor lights to an amber colored bulb I found at Walmart. It attracts less bugs.

Buying a new one is sooooooo much easier!

Thank you for doing this video. I've been wanting to paint my outside lights now I know how to do it and have the courage to try.
Nice job. About to save money 💰 and attempted myself. 😁
Great video!!
Really helpful! Thanks for leaving in mistakes, too. Humanizes it... :)
What did you do to clean the small glass panels in the lights?
The square one's easy, not so much that other one. Can you make a vid on how you reassembled that hex glass?

Thank you! :) This was super helpful!
Been thinking about doing the same with my kitchen chandelier and outdoor lights. Thanks for the ideas.
was this solid brass or brass plated? And does it make a difference? I have to keep the brass finish, is there paint for that?
Helpful tips, well done DIY video.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for the feedback!
it looked good before and looked good after
Great work👍
Looks darn good
This looks like a lot of work

Refinishing looks fantastic! Brass is so ugly.
cool

It is a pity to paint such a lamp in black..

The light fixture should of been installed in an electrical box!
