Here are a few suggestions: 1) Take pic of lantern, 4refer'ce 2) Break down into sep. parts 3) Remove wiring + electric cord = EZier to clean!!! 4) Clean all parts with soft cloth, then toothbrush. 5) Soak all pcs in DILUTED WHITE VINEGAR (1-2 cups vinegar/1 gal. water). Soak 3-7 days. Check parts daily to assess rust removal. 6) Rinse, allow to dry. 7) Sand w/100 grit sand paper. 8) IF needs more De-rusting, place back in fresh vinegar-water solution. Otherwise, rinse + dry. 9) Apply painters tape around buld socket (as YT'er did). 10) Apply Rustoleum Rust-Reformer Primer Allow to dry fully b/t coats (2). Spray Rustoleum Spray paint (color of choice: Black (matt or hi-gloss), Bronze, Gun Metal, Antique Gold, etc.) Also allow to dry b/t coats (2-3). 11) Reassemble fixture. Take fixture + wiring to lighting shop for NEW wiring!!! 12) Remount! This will last EVEN LONGER!!! :)😮
