I think a Pass It On Versus would be great to see. Two teams each made of one chef and one normal alternating between who's cooking with no communication, then having the third normal judge both dishes at the end and picking a winner.

The roundtable bit at the end was too short. I like seeing the other's reactions when someone says "And then I walked into the kitchen and saw ..." This roundtable focused primarily on the final dish. It would've been nice to see everyone's reactions as Ben read out his notes
Yeah, maybe they could do an "outtakes" video with those notes!
Agreed, we could have seen their reactions to each other’s situations and berry would have given himself a retroactive 11 out of 10z
I primarily came down to the comments here to say something similar. I like that Ben is explaining his thought process regarding the badge judging, but it took away so much from the actual relay this time. They could've released two videos instead, one with the proper relay done as normal (they do their turns, get proper camera time and then have the usual roundtable) and then a second video with all of Ben's reactions and explanations as to what was happening.
Let's hope the Sorted team can show us that in another episode. Like when they reacted to the Recipe Relay videos.
They have done reaction videos to their Pass it on. Apparently they weren't that popular.
Those last 10 Barry minutes were the most confident and powerful cooking I've ever seen from, he was focused and on it
He deserved that badge for that last 10 minutes alone, it was like watching a different person cook
He was definitely the most competent cook in this challenge (despite the 5 minutes of hysterical laughter in his first turn)
Although he was very focused, most of his effort was used to turn an amazing vanilla chocolate bread and butter pudding into a semi-okay mess

Even though Barry didn't explain anything he did and he over-engineered the dessert he still took charge and pulled everything together. The fact that he didn't get too distracted by either the dessert or the scallops is commendable, and being able to create a tasty main dish from all the separate elements left in the kitchen was quite impressive!

Barry going into survival mode at the end was brilliant for me. While normally being quiet doesn't work well in these kinds of videos, it was surprisingly comedic with Janice and Ebbers' commentary. Also, we finally get the live commentary from someone in another room. Even if Ebbers wasn't actually involved in the creation of the dish.
It doesn't make up for realizing Jamie was making something from the book - AND THEN CLOSING THE BOOK AND IGNORING IT
Barry was incredible this whole challenge, the first round where he recognized what was going on and knew exactly what the others had done wrong was stunning
And then screwed it all up anyway and gave himself 10/10

Considering Barry went from having milk bubble over everything and completely losing his head to pulling everything together at the end and arguably saving the dish, he definitely deserves a badge of some sort!
Barry just steadily nodding while staring off to the distance when Ben revealed he gave himself a 10, might just be the highlight of an episode with so many great moments.

Secret Badge: The Clincher -- for without Barry this Relay Challenge would have fallen apart completely.

Jamie's "they'll be a muyrdor" at the end was the icing on the cake after Janice's sassy voice over for Barry. Janice should do a whole video of voice over while the normals don't speak at all (giggle)
Ben sitting there with a notebook grading the boys on their technique while gesticulating determinedly with his pen is the most Ben thing I've seen in a while.
Ben reminds me of one of those cover teachers when your actual teacher was off who legitimately thought they were a teacher and actually tried teaching the lesson and sit at the desk at the front of the class pretending to write notes whilst scanning the class making sure everyone is sitting in the right seat on the seating plan 😂 no offence Ebbers I’m sure it’s not the worst thing you’ve ever been called but the vibe he gave off in this video with the pen and notepad and the kinda smug look on his face and constant criticism just reminds me of one of the cover teachers I used to have. The literal prayers said outside the class begging for the chill cover teacher who don’t care what happens as long as she can read her book then walking in and seeing this guy pacing around the room telling people how many seconds they’re late to lesson by, complete jobsworth who reminds me of Captain Dozerman from Brooklyn 99, the nutter who was obsessed with efficiency and statistics which eventually led to his passing and the douchebag vulture replacing Dozerman as captain of the 99 and posing yet another roadblock in the way of the detectives
If they ever take away James saying “where’s the dish????” from the intro I will riot, I swear. I love that bit so much!

@@ayotuii but they’re testing multitasking cooking, not multitasking cooking and making a video. Especially for a “normal”, it’s completely unreasonable for them to be expected to multitask preparing two dishes AND explaining their process all within a time crunch. Chefs can barely do it as is.

@@dorapinisetti3337 Do you understand the definition of multitasking? It’s to do multiple things at once. Plating two dishes while finishing some of the food going on those dishes seems like “multiple things at once” to me.
Barry deserves a badge for that, especially at the end. He really pulled everything together, kept calm about everything and you could really see the focus and determination to try to fix everything to make two actual serviceable dishes. He multitasked that ending perfectly regardless if the scallops got overcooked or maybe added too much flavor to the dessert, he didn't lose his cool and really did an amazing job. Even when he came into the kitchen the first time, he was trying everything, looking at everything, tried to fix dishes and make them right. He totally deserves a badge for how well he did.
i think the thinking was that yes, he pulled it together but he j stopped talking to the camera and that was factored in bc one of the main parts of this is that they ARE making a yt video
@@shreeyag.5411 I feel like it should be noted that he knew he had Ben to fill in for his lack of talking. It basically let ben commentate about a dish the whole time Berry plated and I think Berry knew he could rely on Ebbers to cover for him. Just like they do in the Chief V. Chief battle the down time to think and act vs talking to the Camera the whole time.

I am so proud of Barry, you could really see how far he has come in this video. Barry should get all the credit and definitely should have gotten a badge.

I think Ben expressed here what we've been feeling throughout all Pass It Ons: they just can't keep it simple for the sake of a Pass. And that's true about the chefs, too.
I have to say, Barry cracking down at the end and pulling it all together... I think he deserves the badge.
Pass It On (with Commentary) is a nice format! Even in the other episodes, Ben's comments are really enlightening because he helps you understand why the choices made so far work, what you can do when things fall apart, and why the chaos unfolded the way it did!
I think Barry deserved that 10/10, he saved the day.
Barry's intensity and focus in those last 10 minutes honestly was astonishing and very refreshing
Barry's apparent inhalation of nitrous oxide immediately before starting his first 10 minutes was likewise astonishing and... perhaps not very refreshing, but definitely comical. 😆
Barry absolutely deserved that 10/10 and every badge, he whipped those ingredients into shape so hard, their ancestors probably felt it.
By whipped, you mean overcooked most of the things at the end and worsened the 1 good dish all while not talking, sure. It was still a very good effort but by no means "perfect" (which is what a 10 signifies) or worthy of the badge, especially with the first round also being taken into account lol

Barry Deserved the Multitasking Badge cause honestly he god damn saved both the dishes and his final 10 minute were impressive in terms of Multitasking.
im 1000% ok with barry just focusing instead of talking to us, i mean i wouldnt do it all the time but just trying to focus and save the dish at the end while going for a multitask badge showed just how much he wanted it lol

Because of that, it is a harsh judging. Too harsh.. I dunno.
I know how my father would have judged them. (he is a retired chef). ..lets say that it would be between a mix of James temper, Bens explanation and lots of cussing.
So I am trying too see if from my fathers perspective. Which is hard, because I do want our boys too succeed cx But I don't think this was a chefs level of multitasking.

I think the hard part about “multitasking” when you don’t actually have any idea where you’re headed is very difficult. Realistically you start with some idea where you’re headed and prep. So for me I think coming in after others and having to try to think where you’re going and what your doing and how to work with what you already have is a very complicated process. I think they did pretty good. I wouldn’t have personally wanted to eat any of that but they worked hard!
Barry deserved the multi-tasking batch for sure!! He was always thinking ahead and esp the last few minutes where he was so focused and managed to put together a dish out of random things! GIVE BARRY THE BADGE tqvm :)

It would definitely be interesting to see the contrast of just the Chefs doing the Pass It On. :)
It might also be interesting if the Chefs pulled a Baz and intentionally didn't comment, but left it to the Normals to do the live commentary / critique... Perhaps a badge could be awarded if one of them demonstrates a high enough understanding in real time of why the Chefs are doing what they are doing. 🤔

Big fan of Barry pulling the dish together and figuring out the components along the way. He carried the team instead of going after the badge.

Mike is a basic bitch and I love him for it.
This video had tons of good content from both an entertainment and educational perspective. Ben's comment about keeping things simple, particularly with the communication handicap inherent to the format was a great "teachable moment". :)
Some of the other folks have commented that Barry deserved a badge, but I wonder if Ben didn't award it because he did many things in the last 10 minutes, but maybe not always the right things? To be fair, bringing it all together is a make or break moment, especially if you are working with material that other people have provided you.
All in all, even though the Normals might not have performed at Chef-level (i.e. badge-worthy) level of multitasking, for them to have a successful result in a Pass It On with no Chefs directly involved is laudable. :)
Honestly think Barry should have gotten a badge, he's the only reason there were two dishes at the end and this is the best performance I've seen from him.
My elderly (and very lovely) neighbours just knocked on my door to see if I'm ok. I was yelling "What are you doing with rhubarb? What the HELL are you doing with rhubarb!?!?" during Mike's 2nd turn. They were concerned because I only live with my dog 🤣

honestly, never seen barry so focused and multitasking as in the last 5-6 minutes of their time tbh. I was super impressed.

I honestly believe that Barry deserves a badge for his multi-tasking!
The "Where's the dish!?!?" part at the start is such a classic after so long. Almost every time this intro is on i always repeat it 😁
My main man Barry more than earned that badge. Justice for Barry he deserves that 10/10!
