just played this based on it being one of the earliest releases on the ps1 and all the colors and stuff, the animations, etc. made me feel like I was actually having fun! A burst of dopamine really, and that's a very nice feeling!
Wow, I got this in a Toys R Us bargain bin back in the day. It might have even been Toys R Us exclusive in the UK on the PS1 as I never recall seeing it for sale elsewhere. But I loved the series the second I heard it playing Pennsylvania 6-500
+Larry Bundy Jr Lucky find! I've been looking for a copy lately and there's not many floating around (on eBay, anyway). That would make sense if it had a limited or store-exclusive release.
Nostalgie overload. This, Battle arena toshinden and Ridge Racer were my three games I had on ps1. Out of all of these Parodies was my favorite. Shame America missed out of it. I always wonder why I never hear anyone talk about it online but that explains it
The teleport item in the original Parodius has a use, there's a stage where if you don't have it, you'll run into a wall. If you have it (green bell if memory serves me correctly) you can back off the left side of the screen, and be on the right. Sexy Parodius would pull this again later on, but it was more a beam than a wall. The beam, or wall, was filled with bell bearing turrets, giving you ample opportunity to grab the player sprite enlarging invincibility giving green bell. Also I have that PSP Parodius Portable, all the Saturn Paro games, including the MSX one, Parodius Deluxe Pack and Jikkyou on the PS1, and Parodius Da!! and Gokujou on SFC. Sexy is expensive as hell on the PS1 now (the Saturn version was far cheaper when a friend got me a copy), and Jikkyou cart only on SFC will run you $40+.
Still loving the show. If you're a Parodius fan, I would recommend checking out the PC Engine version, as it has an exclusive stage. Not as graphically impressive as the Super Famicom version, but pretty excellent in its own right.
What's wrong with Otomedius? They're very competent shooters and they are not only the spiritual sequel to Gradius but also probably the last time we're ever going to get any sort of Konami shooter.

I think my favorite installment has to be Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius on PSX! but this would also be a good one to own, I think.
+DarkTetsuya It's a good one! The running commentary is pretty great.

+On the Stick Thanks! I've played the PC Engine version but didn't get far enough to see the bonus stage. I'll have to check that out.

Glad to see you back ! Was afraid you were switching to a dream and friends update schedule :)
+Raton Laveur No way! I'm going to update this series at LEAST twice a year.
