Following on from last week's video - • SOLO FEMALE in a CAMPE...
Oh no, it's home time already!
I return to Brodick on my last day on Arran around mid afternoon time and the rain had persisted all day. Instead of cycling in the rain I decide on some rainy day retail therapy and visit the cheese shop and Arran Aramatics to treat my Mum (cat/house sitter!) to some goodies, and also a little cheeky perfume for myself.
By late afternoon I arrive back to Auchrannie Resort, pitch up & give a tour of the motorhome stopover area www.auchrannie.co.uk/motorhom...
I cook a simple tea, listen to music and turn in early before my long journey home next day.

Next morning, I locate a perfect send-off brekkie (Full Arran Breakfast) at the Little Rock Cafe on the front. It's a really delicious gut buster, setting me up for the rest of the day. Can recommend it!

Then I catch my ferry to Ardrossan and make a leisurely drive back homewards. On the way though I'm distracted by an intense desire to take a much more scenic route! Where do I get to? That's in next week's video!

Hi, I’m Sue from Lancashire, UK.
This channel is just me getting out and about in a converted VW Campervan, occasionally with friends but mostly solo. Fun, laughs, moans, groans, mistakes, and successes. It’ll all be in here!
I’ll share new places, hints, tips, any info I discover and whatever else I think you might find useful.
I began vlogging my solo travels in ‘Vanya’, to help me re-engage with life following the sudden, tragic loss of my husband nearly 3 years ago now. Working through a very complex grief has been the hardest & loneliest challenge imaginable. Some days it still knocks me completely sideways and probably always will. I really don't know. All I do know is that life can change forever and irreversibly in an instant.
By returning to the vanlife we had enjoyed so much together & embracing a new found love of video creation and vlogging, I’m continuing to build strength and balance to move forward through this completely unforeseen and unwanted next chapter of life.

Well after a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng wait i finally pick my VW T6.1 camper up on Tues and Arran is seriously a contender. As a single female solo travellers watching you negotiate things given me confidence that i might be able to do it too.

One of the best things about having your own vehicle is getting to change your direction when something takes your fancy. 🙂 So many times I'd look at the map while out with Patrick and I'd see a white line going over a mountain and I'd be, "let's go that way!!" 🙂❤️

Thanks for the tip Graham. I’d been told to get Smidge so I had that which helped. It was my own fault I was by a Loch and they descended on me. I was lucky that that had been my first encounter with them. Little blighters.

The cheese shop is amazing isn’t it - I stocked up on Arran Mustard as well as some cheese and the traffic light system is good as last time we were on the island the shop was too busy. It’s a great place to stop off there isn’t it.
I like the look of the campsite as handy for the ferry too. That breakfast looked delicious!
Must try the Little Rock cafe next time we visit. Interesting the chap asked if your gas was switched off, I don’t think we got asked. The sea looked calmer for your trip 😀

It’s a great stopover for the night before the ferry and breakfast at Little Rock was so yummy! It was great when the sun reappeared. Maybe I look a bit stupid and that’s why the chap asked me about the gas and not you 😂. Take care both & have a lovely weekend 😊
We had a big queue getting on the ferry on our way back but looks to be down to the ship used as that one is a lot smaller than the double decker one we were on! The video shows how changeable the weather is huh! 💜

What an incredible end to this wonderful trip, im glad you got to see good weather again! The souvenir shopping was nice, although no matter how necessary i do hate seeing reminders that we have recently been through a pandemic, for me we would erase all signs of it ever happening where they are no longer necessary. The Arran brekky was superb! Incredible trip, Arran is on everyone’s radar now. Bet you cat is happy it has come to an end! ♥️

You were parked in almost the same spot on seal shore campsite. We loved it too and got a very short and distanced glimpse of some otters there too. Not counted it though as a sighting, so short and it still remains the top of our must see list. Thanks for taking us along and bringing back fond memories of the island. Fantastic video and an amazing breakfast 😋 I’ve really enjoyed this series of videos, the island looks great even in the rain. I now want to go away in my van again. I love being away in the van and your videos show me why. Also some lovely retail therapy which supports the local economy, or that’s what I tell my husband. Next time you go near Carsluice you really must try the Scottish Smokery . We buy smoked Haggis slices to have with needs , tattles and onion gravy. Also the smoked salmon pâté, smoked mackerel and salmon is lovely, as is the smoked garlic, and smoked mussels. If you drive further down the road at Carsluice you come to Ferry ⛴ Fish. And it’s the only place I managed to buy brown shrimps, makes lovely shrimp butter, like Morecambe shrimp butter. But Arran cheese is lovely and strong with a flavoursome bite. Asda at Ardrossan sold Arran Ice Cream 🍨 a lot cheaper than on Arran itself. Glad you enjoyed it, to see the swans 🦢 on a calm sea 🌊 is Splendiforous .

The west coast of Scotland does get a bit of rain. I was brought up in Ayr (on the mainland opposite Arran) and the local weather joke was “if you can see Arran clearly that means it’s going to rain soon, if you can’t see it clearly, that means it’s raining already”.

Arran looks a really beautiful island - and quite busy and vibrant too. It was really interesting to see the ferry return - that’s a big boat isn’t it, we saw a lot of Calmac ferries about - and it shows how popular Arran is that they need a ferry of that size.
Loved the look of that breakfast, which reminds me…..
