    PLEASE NOTE: The request at the beginning of this video has come about as I've been hearing from other TH-camrs that TH-cam has been automatically removing some people's channel subscriptions which is odd but that's good old quirky TH-cam for you. Please do check you're still subscribed and if you want notifying of any new videos when released just click the notification bell too. Many thanks and happy travels, Sue 😊

    Greetings Sue , Pottsy here , Learn from my error. Do not put cans ect in the higher lockers. I have dints from cans in table and sink top.
    I have filled in with Araldite and sand down level carefully.
    I would not change to lithium just get a power bank of 1500w minimum, these have everything inside one box, Lithium Battery also MPPT controler and inverter built in so no messing about with what you already have. No extra costs apart from the unit.
    They will charge up direct from a solar panel , mains hookup or even while driving ,
    I would love one that would at least run a domestic toaster.
    The one I got from Becca runs most stuff inluding a low wattage kettle at a push and it is just a 500 watt unit.
    Best wishes Pottsy.

      Hi Pottsy thanks for your opinions & advice. Glad you’ve found the right solutions for you but personally I see the extra messing about as a valuable upgrade to my set up. That said, still haven’t had chance to address this. New house taking up all money and time right now 😆. Cheers, Sue.

    Hi Sue. I'll bet you twopence you get ideas on how to change the shelf above the kitchen!! Good luck! Brilliant video... very enjoyable. The best bit for me was when you went down memory lane about your 7++++m motorhome. There were a few nanoseconds when you had a lovely, warm and loving smile and the pause said everything... Bri was obviously very much in those thoughts. It was a privilege to witness. // Thank you for sharing all those thoughts. Take care. Be naughty when you can.all the best, with much love, Pam xx

    You did the right thing going for a conversion over a California, the build quality on the factory camper isn't great. Though with no new Transporters until mid 2025 supplies might be drying up for others wanting one. We used to fit the California tailgate struts onto tailgates when fitting bike racks as they would lift the tailgate with the bike still on.

    • @CamperVanya
      @CamperVanya  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Chris, that’s interesting re the tailgate bike rack I just knew there would probably be some way of doing it so thanks for sharing 👍🏻. Supplies are bad news at the moment for those wanting one. I hope you’re both well. Take care 😊

    Thanks for answering the question and the shout out 😀 think that’s a great thing to do when the time is right for you - what’s interesting is the cost seems to be coming down on Lithium too which is good news 😀

    Sue, you were my inspiration to push ahead and get my campervan. Unfortunately the high demand for Vws over the last few years has meant that to realise my dream I had to make a couple of compromises. One was a barn door instead of a tailgate and the other was the single swivel seat as I just couldn’t get a van with a single seat within my timescales( I’m not getting any younger.) I’ve had the van now for 12 months and I know I can live without the tailgate but as a female, solo traveler I’ve decided to convert to the single seat. I found the swivelling of the double a faff and often if only staying one night I didn’t bother. It will also be easier to check on the dog in the back with the single as I can’t see in the back with the double.
    I believe it’s a fairly easy conversion. Wish me luck. The difficulty is finding a seat and biting the bullet with the cost. K.B.Onwards.

    • @CamperVanya
      @CamperVanya  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hiya Jenny I was lucky to buy when I did, just before the crazy boom in van demand. Also I’d spent so many hours (like you) thinking things through because it was the biggest decision I’d made by myself since Bri died. I suppose being solo our needs are similar. I always liked the look of bench seats in a campervan but knew practically it wouldn’t be right for me. Are you converting that yourself? You’re so talented & put me to shame I’m so useless! It’s great you’ve taken to your van like a duck to water this last year. Lots more exciting adventures await. KBOnward indeed! 😄 🚐 x

    Greetings , as an Engineer the pop top question .
    Depending on the make replace or if it has not got them fit Gas Struts these assist the movement.
    As for the Lithium subject, the Powerbanks are Lithium based inside and if connected up well should be enough for you for 3 to 4 days minimum.
    Fully charge from mains before leaving home and dc to dc unit will charge when driving around.
    Your Solar Panel should keep it topped up during the day.
    PS Glad your Diesel Heater is OK Johns is same as I said just run the engine during fire up few mins.
    Best wishes Pottsy.

    • @CamperVanya
      @CamperVanya  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for that Pottsy, I know Ann who asked the question reads the replies so that should help her. Re the lithium, as I need a new leisure battery anyway I'm going to switch to a lithium one so that it's there in situ and I don't need to carry a power bank around. Also I dont have a solar panel and am hoping I won't need one. When I'm off grid I rarely sit in one place for more than a day or two tops. The diesel heater is great and your advice definitely helped. Cheers Pottsy 👍

    • @stephenpotts4758
      @stephenpotts4758 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Greetings from Pottsy , Make sure you have a DC to Dc charger set up as Lithium batteries can kill the engine alternator as they pull so much current when charging up. SP.

    😂Three answers that I’ve found solutions for.
    First one, roof lifting problems. I have an NV200 and suffer with Fibromyalgia so have terrible trouble lifting the roof. It’s fine once the gas struts kick in, but to start it off is actually impossible. I got my Cheryl from Sussex Campervans and when I explained they got me a roof lifter! It’s quite bulky but they made a cover for it from my main cover materials, and it works a treat and I keep it in the space between the front seats. I just slide it into the tiny gap between the joints, plug it in to the cigarette lighter and press the button - bingo! When pulling down I just quite literally hang from the handles and my weight (🫣) pulls it back down.
    Second one is I too have a fully opening wraparound cover on my pop top and being only 5’4” I can’t reach the clasps to open it. They added two looooong straps to the clasps and I can now grab them to open and close the wraparound.
    Third one. I had terrible problems with my battery going completely flat after only two/three days. I got a new battery but the same thing happened. I got round this by purchasing a trickle charger and plugging it in when it was going to be sitting for a while. However, when she went in for her service/MOT/habitation check, I explained the problem and when I got her back they had replaced the battery with a more powerful one. I never knew there were different strengths of power! (ignorance on my part). Since then I have had no problems whatsoever, so might be worth checking the power strength of the battery. I do also carry a car battery charger with me now, just in case.

      Yes, my roof is the same, heavy and difficult to get started but ok once the gas struts kick in. Like Sue I have been known to use my head too 😳 although I know it’s not a good idea 😉. Maybe need to look into a lifter.
