    What a sweet, beautiful baby, so still and the patience of Job. Usually the groomer has to struggle with the pup. Thank you for sharing this for us.

    You did a great job. I groom my own pups and have watched quite a few videos and this is one of the best ones I have seen. You are patient and with older dogs that is very important since some of them get so anxious when getting groomed. Thank you for posting. Maybe others will learn.

    I really appreciate this video. My 9lb poodle HATES the grooming process and I have to clip a little here and there. If he would just relax and trust that it won’ t hurt, my life would be easier. The right equipment is so important too. Thanks sweet lady!

    Looks beautiful! However, I wouldn't recommend that anyone, experienced or not, use a #7 for the sanitary area...too many folds and crevasses that could get caught in between the widely spaced teeth.

    My Maltese fluffy dog went his first hair cut, very much like this cut. when I saw him after his treatment, I almost wanted to cry, where is the silky fur gone! So I decided I will give his hair cut by myself later on.

    MY AFTER BATH ROUTINE: BRUSHING & DRYING
    Immediately after his bath, he starts going wild... rubbing his head & ears all across the floor or carpet. So I started putting a towel down & containing his crazy to only on the towel, keeping him from creating a bunch of tangles or getting dirty or messy all over again. My best guess as to why he does this, is possibly water in his ears (although I take every precaution to avoid the dangers of this) ORRR just the hair around his face (ex.. his “beard”, eyes, in/around his ears) simply being wet, agitates him.
    So my advice is to immediately dry your pup because the longer you wait the more susceptible they are to matting. Never start comb their fur while it’s soaking wet or before it is mildly damp. Not only is it’s just difficult, but it just leads to extra work, knots, & most importantly pain. The hair and skin is very vulnerable this stage & it’s very uncomfortable for your pup to have his coat yanked n pulled like this.
    Try “ringing out” their legs, ears, tail, belly hair, before removing them from the tub. Then begin patting them with a towel all over until damp. It should be safe to LIGHTLY brush & DETANGLE using a wide WIDE TOOTH brush or comb (nothing with SHARP, thin metal bristles, or with several close together). Then continue to towel dry, once again, lightly brushing them in between. This will prevent frizz, knots or a homely unsightly coat instead of the desired smooth n silky coat of a polished Maltese.
    After soaking up as much water as you can, it’s safe to begin blow drying using the LOWEST HEAT SETTING or cool if such setting is unavailable. Gently brush in downward strokes with the direction of the fur while continuously moving the dryer around, keeping it a reasonable safe distance from their sensitive skin (est. 8-12 inches).

    Thank you so much for a great, detailed video! What sort of Oster trimmer are you using? I've purchased two different Oster trimmers and tried all the clip-on attachment combs and my poor pups STILL look like they've been trimmed with a lawn mower, poor things! I seem to have trouble getting the angle right or something. Any thoughts?

      not the way the they suggest nowadays, get the puppy to a groomer several times from 6 weeks old to 4 months old. That's the critical time to desensitize them to everything and introduce them to every loud noise or circumstance you can!!!! They (the pup) need to see this groomer atleast 4 times in that time period. The dog needs to spend time at the grooming shop, tip nails, file, bath, dryer, etc. The risks of taking the pup to the groomers before vaccinations and them contracting something is small. It far outweighs the harm it does to the pet to wait. Vet's are finding out, they have a bunch of uncontrollable and untrained pups. Don't wait!

    awful to watch the sanitary trim.....I will never allow that to be done again with clippers...why do groomers always want to trim so close to the skin? last time my Maltese got a trim, they promised me they wouldn't cut close and they did and her skin under her tail turned very dark after that....hair took weeks to grow back in.....

    • @petgroooming
      @petgroooming  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it's not trim so close to the skin, I use 7FC (3,2 mm) blade - its not sanitary blade. To trim sanitary area you should use 10 blade (0,5 mm) but in my opinion it's too short and causes dermatitis.

    • @kathleenconey15
      @kathleenconey15 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You must do a sanitary trim, or when the dog poops, remainders will get caught in the hair. Believe me, it’s much worse when you have to bring the dog in every time he/she defecates and wash his rear under a faucet and clean him/her with baby shampoo and a wash cloth or the like to clean him/her and the anus and tail area. The dog will fight you much more when you do that, than when née/she gets a sanitary cut. Also, look up on on google or something as to why the sanitary cut is necessary.

    • @virginiababiash4791
