Astounding. The expertise in geometry, trigonometry, material science and engineering are beyond the comprehension of the average person when they see this piece. That doesn't begin to touch the skill set and experience required. I truly believe you could see this in your mind's eye as it would appear when complete and how you were going to do it. You must have spent many nights laying awake just figuring out how to ... "make the tools so you could make the tool to make the parts". No doubt untold hours must have been spent calculating compound angles, material requirements and the time required to machine and fabricate each component, wood and metal. As a fellow craftsman I salute you, sir. Well done.

So glad you documented the process and that you got good footage on the playa. So sad to hear the outcome of your experience. It's been my concern the last few years I've been on playa. With larger installations of mine we had a support camp and had 'hosts' at the work on a 24 / 7 basis. It's a whole additional layer to manage but it did keep the art safe. It just takes one person in 70,000 to ruin the whole thing :( Thank you for your contribution

I built a giant golf club and put tuned copper tubes and plates of steal on it and gave people golf clubs to try and play music. Some of my tubes were beaten so hard to be flattened and my laser destroyed. You can't take anything to Burningman and say don't climb on it, people will climb it. Its not the place for fragile art. Sorry what happened.

Very interesting. I like the geometrical knots. I wouldn´t have executed the Smiley and Peace symbol in such massive way though. It looks more like a showdown than passing peace message to the people. And the amount of redwood wasted for it isn´t symbolizing peace in my perspective. It´s rather war on nature.

we were in SLT on monday driving around looking at properties. I saw your work in a driveway down a side street. I had to back up and pull down the street to see them closer. That was me in the white caravan that stopped in front of the drive where some of the pieces were. Even just by themselves sitting in a driveway they are Beautiful! I was amazed, I wondered, are they actually made of wood - or paper, maybe cardboard... I had to get out and touch the sculpture, thrilled to be touching hard wood, redwood... I have thot of those pieces everyday since, marveling at how wonderful they are, the time that obviously went into them, the Love, the Vision. Imagine my surprise when looking at some random TH-cam video on sticks that there they are in the sidebar! Thank you! Thank you for creating these, they are so wonderful. I am sorry that someone broke them. Thank you for making the videos and sharing this story. I love the details of the builds, it reminds me of the desire in me to make art, to build things just cuz they are so cool... Thank you!
