Here is the most recent update video we have: th-cam.com/video/b3mGyUtohDo/w-d-xo.html It's now been even longer than that and still holding up strong.
I am planning on applying this on our semi van trailers, with chemlight roof secured with aluminum j molding and buck rivet. Will flexseal holds up? Im thinking doing it under trailer too or on the trailers flooring to stop water leaking.
@@kardoautoworks5119 So far Flex Seal has held up really well for us! We used it on the roof, as well as on the black tank. It stopped all our leaks. I would test it on the aluminum to make sure it will bond, but it's bonded to everything we've used it on so far.
@@Madspusher Awesome!! Thank you! I was pretty sure it did- it's worked on everything else for us. I just didn't have any first hand experience with aluminum yet.
I have a 27' travel trailer with a 16' slide. I flex seal my roof 2 yrs ago and I recommend it 100%. The flex seal still looks as good as the day it installed it. The roof is never hot to the touch and has improved the ac efficiency even when camping in the dead of summer with no shade. Tip: if you pour the flex seal on the roof and work in small sections, use a flat painters edge to spread the flex seal and a roller to smooth as you go. I used one gallon and was able to do 2 coats this way. Awesome job guys looks great 👍. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my goodness!! Thank you for sharing this with us! That gives us hope. So far so good and it's definitely helping with the heat now that we are heading back south for the summer. So glad to know it's held up well for you. And thanks for the tip on spreading it!
You are lucky if it lasted that long. I have a 26 foot RV that I coated 2 years ago, and after a recent thunderstorm I found millions of flakes on the ground - the Flexseal had given up! Still I wonder whether that's the longest that any product can last. I may use Flexseal again and put it down for regular maintenance, but I am disappointed in the short lifetime.
I’m going to try this too. I’m not in the wet weather area of the country so I believe it’s going to seal up/ cure very well the first time. I have a fiberglass roof and just think it’s vulnerable point is the side/ top edges are screwed together . I’d do only those because fiberglass doesn’t rip , but the thermal barrier from this is too good to pass on it !
New to rving....I was thinking about doing this. Searched if anyone has done this and found this video. Then I checked the comments and am glad ppl are saying 2, 3, 4 years and roof is doing good. I especially someone from Arizona chimed in as that's where I will be. So thanx for the video and everyone's insight.
Did the roof of my trailer with flex seal, that stuff works so good ! 2 cans and done ! Not a leak in 2 years , Az wheather and hail storms last year .
A few years ago I worked for an industrial maintenance contractor and one of the plants we worked they handled the transfer of concrete pretty rough environment to say the least. They used Flex Seal on what seemed like everything to fix leaks. I had always saw the commercials on TV years ago and thought yeah right this stuff can't be that good and I have to admit I was wrong it really is that good. I lost some shingles off my roof down to the Ply Wood during a bad storm here and went and bought some and coated it till I could get it repaired. We went through a few more storms before the roof was replaced and not a leak at all. I was impressed at how well it did the job keeping water out of my house. I would be interested in how long it does last before needing redone.
Thank you for sharing this! That is so good to know! It's holding up really well for us so far. You can see our 2 year update video here- th-cam.com/video/b3mGyUtohDo/w-d-xo.html So glad it kept your roof protected until you could get it replaced! We are definitely Flex fans!
I used the flex seal spray on my awnings where the coating thinned out. It was easy to apply, however the areas are drying out and crack after two years. I have reapplied it again.. disappointed in the cracking.
Just did my 32 ft Class C....BEST DECISION EVER! Flex seal blew my mind after just one coat. For good measure I did 2 coats. Don't even bother with anything else, just spend the money and do a good thorough prep. Clean, scrub, wash, rinse, patches, cut in, then roll on with a 6 inch heavy knap weenie roller for precise control. Also the 6 inch weenie roller fits perfectly into the gallon can. Good luck y'all! 😁
Awesome!! Thank you for sharing this. We had a lot of people telling us we should have done something else, but it has been holding up strong for us. It blew our minds too and we did just like you, extra good clean and then made sure to cover well and cut everything in!! Glad it's working out for you!
@@LifesSweetJourney I had a lot of naysayers too. They couldn't believe I was going to spend a fortune on what they called a "gimmick." Totally NOT a gimmick. I'm always looking around the house and yard for stuff I think I can flex seal now! 🤣🤣🤣 Take care y'all and God Bless. 😁
@@silvursprings completely agree! We were skeptical at first when tried the tape, but then after seeing how well it worked we we're like "flex all the things!!!" And thank you :) Right back at you!
Doing the whole roof looks pretty good, I can see that being a good solution to taking care of a lot of those small holes without redoing the whole roof. I'm interested to see how it holds up over time.
I know you were wanting to see how the Flex Seal held up. We did an 8 month check in video (th-cam.com/video/IBM8DY5tWhc/w-d-xo.html) and are now at over a year in and it is still holding up really well!
Oh no, leaks are so annoying! Especially when it's a season that rains all the time. This looks so easy to use! Thanks for helping us take care of our RVs!
Luckily I store my 2013 Keystone camper inside in my shop, but after 8+ years the roof is looking like it’s time for a reseal. I’m glad I found this video and I’ll be rolling on the flex seal. Great video! Thanks for the info.
I have an old 16 ft x 8 ft aluminum caravan, with a roof that constantly leaks during any amount of rain, am seriously thinking about painting this onto the roof, as it's a great van, little home on wheels, I live in it full time, and need the outside roof to hold up, and with currently, I would NOT be able to do any repairs on the inside roof with condition the outside is in at moment. Thank-you once again for the video, am glad I clicked on it...I have purchased the Flex Tape, and was going to do the seams as I think it's where the water is getting in, but thanks again for the video.
So glad you found it helpful! Best of luck on the repairs. The Flex Tape should hold up really well until you can do the full reseal. Our tape lasted three years and was still going strong with no issues, we just decided it was time to reseal the whole as we kept getting holes in other places and wanted it fully protected.
When I saw the first Flex Seal it was just another product that doesn't work! Back then I would never get this product and used it on my rv roof. The product is still around and seeing it being used on rubber roofs I will try it. I'm not going to do anything but edges where you can see that it needs attention! Thanks
You bet! It's holding up really well for us. We used the tape for the edges originally when that was all we noticed and for quick fixes. That held for 3 years until we took it off to do this. It was seeing that hold up so well that made us feel like we could trust it for the full reseal.
I'm so glad that I found your video. I'm definitely going to be using this product in the spring. Wished that I'd found it 6 months ago. You made the process look sooo easy. Thank you.
You can totally do it! It's more time strenuous than physically strenuous. If you broke it up into a two day project it might make it easier. Just give it enough time to fully dry between washing and sealing. Best of luck on the project and let us know if you have any questions along the way.
Great video idea here! Flexseal liquid is insanely tough, the best use for my rv has been coating the skylights with it(clear) five years ago when they started becoming brittle, to this day they are stronger than new and leak free, stuff is legit!!
Best of luck with the reseal :) It's still holding up really well for us!! Been over a year and a half now, just went through 2 hurricanes and it's still good. You can see it in this update video: th-cam.com/video/b3mGyUtohDo/w-d-xo.html
It’s wild that I happen to stumble upon this video. I had already purchased a bucket of flex seal for my roof. It’s good to know others have had the same thoughts on how well this would work
@@LifesSweetJourney yaaaay! So glad you had shared this. So far mines looking great and holding up well. I’m just worried about when the Arizona heat can hold up with cracking
@@DanetteMae Glad it's holding up! Did you see the follow up video we just shared (th-cam.com/video/IBM8DY5tWhc/w-d-xo.html)? 8 months in, over 4 months of it through the Florida summer heat, and so far, so great!! How long has yours been on now?
Great Video! Thanks! I have my first gallon of white flex seal. I've been using Cool Seal on our 2000 Coachman RV 32'. But wanted to use Flex Seal for my roof maintenance this time. Only drawback for me is the obscene price of it locally. $93 plus tax is kind of a heart stopper. But after seeing how great your roof came out, I'm encouraged
Oh wow! Yeah! That's higher than anywhere I have seen it. It really has held up really, really well for us though. Over a year and counting! Hope the same for you!! Good luck with the repair maintenance.
I used Flex Seal clear spray several month ago to seal around some repairs on roof & around the windows & vertical seems of a camper that I converted into a chicken coop. Held well in the summer heat, no leaks. Only issue it turned yellow. Could be an cosmetic issue if you are using on your camper. Stay well, Joe Z
I have a fifth wheel with three slide outs the best way to get the slide out top done without getting any of that sealant on the seals as after you finish the slide out bring the slide out in and finish cutting in where you could not get it that good it worked really well when we did it
Great idea! We didn't have the time to do that as we were only at the park where we did that for a little less than a week and it needed time to fully dry before pulling in the slides.
Great job I love it ... Just a suggestion on doing the slides maybe pull them half way in and paint from inside to get the area you couldn't reach from the outside . but overall great job🥂🥂
Thank you! Yeah, we thought about that, but we had the ladder so it worked out ok. We were worried about possibly messing it up if it was tacky and the rubber somehow hit the wet side when we were putting slide the rest of the way out.
Thank you! Best of luck on the project. Glad you found this helpful and hope the damage isn't too extensive. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
I had always wondered if this product could be used. Never really thought it couldn't. Thanks for doing the video and showing exactly what you did, much appreciated.
This is an excellent product I lived in the motor home in the late the moisture from breathing went up and condenserd on the underside of the round part of the aluminum foof above the bed it corroded the aluminum so bad it was like Swiss cheese since I had a quart can of this product that the old owner had left in the unit it coated the whole section no more leaks nothing worse than waking up to a soaking wet bed thats ice cold
I read that one company sells "micro beads" thst you can add to roof paints. The micro beads adds an extra insulation to the paint and lowers the inside of the RV 20 degrees, saving a lot of money in hot climates and stops heat from escaping in cold climates.
20° seems like quite a bold claim. A great AC running wide open would have a time getting the internal temps down 20°. A 40 mil coating providing how much R value? Makes you wonder why it isn’t used everywhere.
I, clean my white rubber roof on my 03 50ft TANDEM JAYCO legacy 5th wheel RV with cold water and dawn dish detergent THE Blue kind next I'm going to apply the flex seal. flex seal also makes a flex seal tape
Hello pls tell me how it goes? I am going to do my 2003 Jayco legacy soon , very scared spending this kind of money but nothing else out there looked any good for the price any ways. TY
@@marydreyer3294 So far it's working out really well for us! We're over a year in and it looks as good as the day we applied. Has kept things cooler in the camper and no more leaks. We're going to do another check in video soon, but here's our 8 month check in (th-cam.com/video/IBM8DY5tWhc/w-d-xo.html).
I used flex seal on my house flat roof It had an old hot rolled roof they wanted $14k to replace it. I rented a floor sander lifted it up on the roof using 2x4's and ropes sanded my roof get rid of all the old flaking roof paint not all the way through to the plywood. I bought 10 gallons of flex seal to cover 1200 sq feet of roof and rolled it on the roof with a roller 3 coats. I'm in the south west desert where we have 120F heat and very high UV. Still looks like new been 3 years in fact I even had a roofer redo part of my roof shingles he was really surprised how well it's held up to the UV. I figured the worst that could happen is I wasted $1400 and the roofer just tear it all out anyway.
Great job ! Should the lap sealant be removed eplaced first from around roof vents? I really don't know, but thought the lap had to be removed and replaced periodically and the advice is to do that along with a full roof repair like this.
It can help but as long as the lap sealant looks to be in good shape it doesn't have to removed or replaced. We didn't replace it as our looked good. We're not entirely sure as we bought our rig used but it looked as if it had already been replaced at some point so we simply resealed over it. It it looked as if there were areas that had needed patching we would have done so or replaced but it wasn't needed on our rig. It would depend on the state of your rig.
I want to say Thank You to all of you in this group/community. I have learned alot. Everybody is talking to each other and Helping to solve common problems, this is Awesome!. I had been considering using Flex Seal on the roof of a 98 Jayco 3530 and you have made a positive impact on my decision process. Also considering replacing the AC. Any suggestions?
Glad you have found the video and community helpful! There has been some great feedback with comments and question help! Also, if you are even thinking it might help to replace your AC I would recommend it. Definitely helped us! Ours was no longer blowing cold air. We called mobile RV repair people near where we were at the time. Would have been crazy expensive even to try to recharge and most places wouldn't do that. We decided to replace ourselves and it was actually a lot easier than we thought it would be. We replaced with the newer dometic unit. This was what we did... th-cam.com/video/jW-hrR-d80Y/w-d-xo.html If you decide to tackle and have any questions, let us know, we are happy to help best we can.
I sealed my camper roof with flex seal and we had a hail storm 2 years later with baseball sized hail. Needless to say, the flex seal stopped the hail from going through the roof. No leaks. However, the structural damage was severe. None of it penetrated the shell through the flex seal.
Best of luck on getting it done in time!! Stay warm. We actually just got done filming an 8 month check in and everything is holding up great! Should have that video up by the end of the week.
Rubberized truck bedliner sealant works the best in doing it for years and it's inexpensive comes in sand colour or tan grey or black and you can paint over it
Hi, it does say it will work on aluminum, so I would think tin should work as well, but we haven't used it on any tin yet to be able to say firsthand. I would do a test spot and see how it holds up. We did paint it over the metal stripping and it is holding up just as well there as the rest of the roof but it is just a small strip, not the whole thing. Sorry, wish I could give you a more confident answer.
Oh man! Sorry to hear that. Maybe grab a ladder and do as much as you can around the edges from the perimeter so you can cover what you can without walking on it. That's where the majority of our holes were so you might be able to get enough covered to stop the leaks.
Yes, it still looks as good as the day we did it. This is the most recent update video we have if you're interested. th-cam.com/video/b3mGyUtohDo/w-d-xo.html
Thank you! We just used a general RV wash we had in the camper at the time- like this (amzn.to/3oa63r6) but you can pretty much use anything just make sure it doesn't have wax in it. You can see a full roof wash at the beginning of our most recent update video on the reseal (th-cam.com/video/b3mGyUtohDo/w-d-xo.html). We used Turtle Wash for this wash but we usually just grab whatever is on sale at the time.
I'm curious to see how it holds up over time, if the sun is going to start eating away at it. The problem I have with just rolled on roof products is once they start to break down, water will get underneath them, then what happens is once its inside, it doesnt go anywhere and thats when the rot starts, it just takes one winter of negative weather to freeze that standing water and start popping things open. It would be nice if its possible to relayer it with a new coat, that way you dont have to scrape it all off to redo it. The problem with that though is you'll be rolling it back on every single year. Keep us posted.
We definitely plan to do update videos at 6 months-1 year and then again at year 2- hopefully it will make it that far! So far it is holding up for us really well. We have been in fully exposed sun for the last few months and it seems to be holding up well.
@KewlCrayon I know you were wanting to see how it held up! This was our 8 month check in video (th-cam.com/video/IBM8DY5tWhc/w-d-xo.html) and it's now been over a year (most of that time spent in the Florida sun) and it is still holding up really well!
If it's cracking, like big cracks I would take it off and recaulk first. But if it's just tiny hair line cracks we just flex sealed over it. Just made such to put in on thick.
Just curious about the epdm rubber roof staying adhered? My roof delaminated on a trip to Black Hills and if that would happen after you put flex seal over it might not be good😕
Uh oh! So far so good for us. We resealed over two years ago and it still looks like it did the day we resealed. There was one small scratch that we had to patch, but other than that it hasn't had any issues. Here was our first update video where you can see the scratch we patched- th-cam.com/video/IBM8DY5tWhc/w-d-xo.html Our most recent update was at the 1.5 year mark and we did an update right after the hurricanes here in Florida th-cam.com/video/b3mGyUtohDo/w-d-xo.html
We did not sand it. Originally he started with Flex tape, which we knew probably wouldn't hold because of where the leak was in the seam so we wouldn't be able to get it perfectly flush. It was all we had on hand at the time. You can kind of see it underneath the sealant. That slowed things down until we could get the black liquid sealant. We ended up just painting over the tape as opposed to removing it. That way it was sealed with the tape and then the tape was sealed with the sealant. I think the sealant should hold it fine all on it's own but you could also use Flex Paste first directly over where the water is leaking from and then the sealant. The Flex Paste is much thicker, so can help fill that leak and then the sealant will back it up. Good luck!! This is the paste- amzn.to/3IEIFZE.
Good video. A couple questions.. 1. What type of membrane was on your roof before you applied the flex seal? 2. What cleaner did you use on the existing roof? Thanks in advance!
Glad you found it helpful. The original membrane was also rubberized roof (EPDM). We just used a general cleaner we had in the camper already. Basically this (amzn.to/3IrkE6n), but any cleaner should work well, just as long as it doesn't have wax in it.
@@ryangoforit8632 Yay! Yes, that was what originally sold us on the product. Flex Tape held with the holes for over 2, almost 3 years. Glad it worked for you too!
Horrible idea !!! It's not uv resistant and in 6 months it turns to chalky mess. Your going to have a mess ,I've seen it too many times as a mobile rv tech
@@brentsharp8234 :/ Maybe they have updated it? Ours is UV resistant or at least that's what it says. We're at the 6 month mark almost and haven't had any issues. Its still holding up as good as the day we put it on and we've been in Florida almost all summer.
Good job. Thanks for tips. I’ve owned a roofing company for 40 years and will use Flex Seal in seams, perimeter and penetrations. Then use an Elastomeric Coating. FYI It comes in 3 different price points. I never use the cheaper ones. Don’t forget to thoroughly clean w brush. All can be bought at Home Depot/ Lowes. I can’t stress importance of thoroughly cleaning w a brush. Even a pressure washing alone is not enough. Thanks for your insight.
Thank you for yours!! This is all good to know and very helpful. So glad we used the brush to clean. I think it has really helped with making the resealing last.
Did you guys use a primer before laying down the flex seal? Sorry if I missed that part of the video if you said you did. I've been strongly considering using it for my rv roof as I just need to get it sealed and I want to do a one and done fix
We will keep doing updates! So far we can't vouch for anything past 1.5 years, which is how far we are in from when we first did it. So far, so good though!! We have heard roofs are supposed to be resealed every year, but our original roof was 10 years old and had never been resealed as far as we know. Hoping this will at least get us through a good handful+!
Hi Jason! Still haven't made it to the 6 year mark, but we're at 1.5 years in at this point and it's holding up great! Here's an update video if you're curious. We just went through Hurricane Ian and so it held up through that. th-cam.com/video/b3mGyUtohDo/w-d-xo.html
you can ive done it but it costs a lot and the older sealer was way cheaper not sure how long it will last but I can say it is thicker so hope it pays off
We don't plan to remove it. It's been three years since we sealed it and haven't needed to reseal yet. Just keeping an eye on it and will patch where needed but so far only had one spot that got a little scratched where we just did a small patch jov.
We did not recaulk every year. We would only add caulk if we noticed it was getting worn in spots. We have had campers for many years. People advice, but it's overly precautionary. Yes, resealing it like this would take the place of that if you were planning to do that.
We added a little car wash to it (we use either this amzn.to/3Lc1Lqo or Turtle Wax Max power) you can also just add some regular dish soap to it, but we didn't use dish soap before the reseal. We used the car wash. You can see the cleaning process we do in our 2 year check in video: th-cam.com/video/b3mGyUtohDo/w-d-xo.html at about the 1:50 mark
Not the proper way of doing routine RV maintenance flex seal liquid can be useful too preserve the EPDM rubber but should not be used as a substitute to dicor. I would use some eterna Bond tape on the tears and gashes in the rubber and use dicor self-leveling lap sealant around the sky vents and termination strips
Thomas, thank you for your feedback. We didn't need to make any changes to the sealant around the vents, so the Dicor is still there. We just painted over it to give it the same white look as the rest of the roof. We used the dicor lap sealant when we installed the new vent- that was in our previous video. Our hope is that the flex seal holds up over time for the reseal. But we still use the lap sealant when needed. We had tape on the tears originally, hopefully we won't regret removing it. Can always put it back on if needed. Right now everything is holding up really well though.
@@jrnyrv theoretically yes it can do the job however if it ever comes time to remove that skylight you will also tear your rubber roof so in my personal opinion I would stick to dicor
Glad you found it helpful! How deep are the cracks? We had a few areas with holes and deep cracks that we painted with a thick coat prior to rolling so that those spots got more that one coat. Otherwise as long as you apply it thickly one coat should be sufficient.
I have Tropicool on my roof, about 3 gallons. I’ve used the Henry’s silicone based roof coating on a steel barn roof as well, about 20 gallons. Both of them are doing very well, sticks to everything like a champ.
I tried to use this stuff it ended up peeling off I did not have the success you did on my van. I used eternal Bond and magic roof in combination and that stuff has lasted and I could not speak more highly.. maybe it's just a different kind of roof or the application maybe? But mine was the best answer for me
What type of roof do you have? We have heard the same from a few other people, but it's holding up really well for us. Glad you found something that worked for you!

I did my RV roof 4 years ago with FLEX SEAL and it is still doing good.
Yay!! So glad to hear that. Thanks for shaaring.
That's great! How many coats applied?
Doing the whole roof looks pretty good, I can see that being a good solution to taking care of a lot of those small holes without redoing the whole roof. I'm interested to see how it holds up over time.
We will definitely be doing check in videos! Thinking 6 months-1 year in and then again after 2 years. We're hoping it keeps holding strong!!
I used the spray stuff for a small area. It wasn’t uv protected, and all peeled in about a year. Maybe the paint on stuff is different.

I know you were wanting to see how the Flex Seal held up. We did an 8 month check in video (th-cam.com/video/IBM8DY5tWhc/w-d-xo.html) and are now at over a year in and it is still holding up really well!
@@LifesSweetJourney Hey, that looks really good, thanks for the update, very cool!
Oh no, leaks are so annoying! Especially when it's a season that rains all the time. This looks so easy to use! Thanks for helping us take care of our RVs!
Yeah, Florida showers got us real good! But thankfully the tape held and hopefully the liquid reseal will do the trick too.
Luckily I store my 2013 Keystone camper inside in my shop, but after 8+ years the roof is looking like it’s time for a reseal. I’m glad I found this video and I’ll be rolling on the flex seal. Great video! Thanks for the info.
That's a good roof life! Ours was 2011, but out in exposed sun most of that time and it definitely needed it. Good luck on your reseal!!
What kind of membrane is on your Keystone camper the camper dealership told me not to use it on my Keystone TPO membrane so I was just wondering
Every video I see of yours makes me want to sell everything and get an RV. Hit the road!
I say go for it!!
Great job. Have been researching on repairing my camper. Appreciate the video. 😎
Glad you found it helpful!! Best of luck on the camper repairs. It seems to be an endless process for us, but it's definitely worth it.
I flex sealed my 27 ft class c and after 2 years still looks good and no leaks I think it should last many years to come.
So glad to hear that!! Thank you for sharing, hoping the same for us!
Thank you.
You bet! So glad you found it helpful and best of luck on your reseal!!
Thanks for sharing this process I’m a single person and hopefully I will be able to do this myself
You can totally do it! It's more time strenuous than physically strenuous. If you broke it up into a two day project it might make it easier. Just give it enough time to fully dry between washing and sealing. Best of luck on the project and let us know if you have any questions along the way.
AWESOME DEMONSTRATION ❤
Outstanding video! Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you for watching!
Great video idea here!
Flexseal liquid is insanely tough, the best use for my rv has been coating the skylights with it(clear) five years ago when they started becoming brittle, to this day they are stronger than new and leak free, stuff is legit!!
YESSS!! Love to hear it!! Same with ours! We have been very happy with Flex Seal products for road life.
Gotta say...now I'm kinda curious as to what else this would work on. My husband is a DIY guy so this product could be a game changer!
Definitely good to have in your back pocket for repairs! The Flex tape has helped us out more times than I can count.
Time for to do the roof seal. May try flex seal. Like the way the water beaded up. Thanks for the video.
You bet! Glad you found it helpful and good luck on the reseal.
By the looks of your 5th Wheel Roof, I think I'm gonna invest in the Flex Seal Tape, and Coating to reseal the Roof of my 22 foot Motorhome.

Mines $109.99 a gallon anywhere around here 😭
I used Flex Seal clear spray several month ago to seal around some repairs on roof & around the windows & vertical seems of a camper that I converted into a chicken coop. Held well in the summer heat, no leaks. Only issue it turned yellow. Could be an cosmetic issue if you are using on your camper.
Stay well, Joe Z
Glad it held well!! So far ours hasn't discolored at all, but will keep that in mind if we use the clear on anything. Thanks!

I've used it for a few years it works great.

Hmmm! I'm going to have to look into that. Thanks!! Anything we can do to keep the camper cooler inside is a WIN.
20° seems like quite a bold claim. A great AC running wide open would have a time getting the internal temps down 20°.
A 40 mil coating providing how much R value? Makes you wonder why it isn’t used everywhere.
Thanks for sharing this DIY! It's a great idea to take care of some leaks.
yeah, it was finally time! Too many patch jobs, figured we would just give it a full overhaul.
I, clean my white rubber roof on my 03 50ft TANDEM JAYCO legacy 5th wheel RV with cold water and dawn dish detergent THE Blue kind next I'm going to apply the flex seal. flex seal also makes a flex seal tape

At the 1 month update I noticed you have a different antenna where the TV antenna used to be. What kind of antenna is that? Cell?
Yes, it's our WeBoost antenna for cell signal boosting.
I have a new tin roof on a tiny little shed house. Does this also make the sound from the rain a little less loud
It does somewhat, yes!
Great job ! Should the lap sealant be removed
eplaced first from around roof vents?
Sorry to hear about the damage but so glad the flex seal stopped it from getting through the roof!!
Used it on mine, worked great!
So glad to hear that!!

Rubberized truck bedliner sealant works the best in doing it for years and it's inexpensive comes in sand colour or tan grey or black and you can paint over it
Hmmm, interesting. Never even thought of that.
Thank you!
Woah, this is so informative! I learn so much from your videos!!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, I have a KZ sportsmen classic, it has a tin roof, would this product work just as well to seal this type of roof?
Hi, it does say it will work on aluminum, so I would think tin should work as well, but we haven't used it on any tin yet to be able to say firsthand. I would do a test spot and see how it holds up. We did paint it over the metal stripping and it is holding up just as well there as the rest of the roof but it is just a small strip, not the whole thing. Sorry, wish I could give you a more confident answer.
Me watching this not daring to even walk on my roof of my 86 sun cruiser would love to do this sence I she some leaks but the roof will give out
Oh man! Sorry to hear that. Maybe grab a ladder and do as much as you can around the edges from the perimeter so you can cover what you can without walking on it. That's where the majority of our holes were so you might be able to get enough covered to stop the leaks.
Hi, there thanks for sharing. What’s made of your RV roof? EPDM, PVC, fibre glass, TPO or else? Thanks for inputting.
EPDM
Hi, Just wondering, are you still happy with the flex seal on the roof?
Yes, it still looks as good as the day we did it. This is the most recent update video we have if you're interested. th-cam.com/video/b3mGyUtohDo/w-d-xo.html
so love the look of this, what I would like to know is what you washed the roof with before you sealed it with flex seal ??
I have used flex seal on our 36' 5th wheel for years with zero issues. Florida's Summer rains don't stand a chance!
Awesome!! Good to know it's held up well for you. We're at two years in and still holding strong!!
I know UV protection products are recommended for these highly exposed areas... I wonder if these products would bond to the flex seal?
@@eaglefistfu Flex Seal has UV protection, but you would want to test an area to see how the bond would hold.
@KewlCrayon I know you were wanting to see how it held up! This was our 8 month check in video (th-cam.com/video/IBM8DY5tWhc/w-d-xo.html) and it's now been over a year (most of that time spent in the Florida sun) and it is still holding up really well!
So when did flex seal switch from silicone based to a rubber based coating? Check the video.
So do you just flex seal the existing caulking? What if the existing caulking is cracking?
If it's cracking, like big cracks I would take it off and recaulk first. But if it's just tiny hair line cracks we just flex sealed over it. Just made such to put in on thick.
Thank for your help ❤️y ✝️🛐 s for you and your family
Glad I seen this living in a 40 ft jayco and little condensation and I'm pretty sure it's coming from a small leak somewhere in the roof
Glad it was helpful!! Good luck on finding and patching the leak :)
As soon as it quits raining I have to do that. Woke up to a leak over my bed. Had to tarp up for now
Oh man! Best of luck!!
This is what I use. 💜
Hello how did you seal your black tank mines leaking in the same spot as yours! Did you sand the tank before putting flex seal?
In my opinion this is not a user-friendly product. Must follow the prep and application directions exactly or it won't last a year
Flex Seal for the win! What is your most recent DIY project?
I fixed a few garden pots with FLEX TAPE and FLEX SEAL.
EDIT: It worked perfectly.
@@ryangoforit8632 Yay! Yes, that was what originally sold us on the product. Flex Tape held with the holes for over 2, almost 3 years. Glad it worked for you too!

@@brentsharp8234 :/ Maybe they have updated it? Ours is UV resistant or at least that's what it says. We're at the 6 month mark almost and haven't had any issues. Its still holding up as good as the day we put it on and we've been in Florida almost all summer.
About to try this on the roof of my bus conversion
We love a good bus conversion! Good luck on the project :)
Nope, no primer. Just make sure to scrub it clean really well and let the roof dry after cleaning. Then we just applied the Flex Seal.
@LifesSweetJourney great! Thanks for the response. Your followup videos were very useful too
Nice video thanks for making it.
Thanks for watching!
How long does it last?
With very little foot traffic. Looks great! But I'm concerned with long term. 6-8 years plus.
We just went through Hurricane Ian and so it held up through that. th-cam.com/video/b3mGyUtohDo/w-d-xo.html
you can ive done it but it costs a lot and the older sealer was way cheaper not sure how long it will last but I can say it is thicker so hope it pays off
Thank you! So far it's holding up really well. We're over a year in and it's as good as it was when we first applied.
Do you have to remove the flex seal when you do a reseal and how long can you go between reseals
We don't plan to remove it. It's been three years since we sealed it and haven't needed to reseal yet. Just keeping an eye on it and will patch where needed but so far only had one spot that got a little scratched where we just did a small patch jov.
Gud stuff broski
It's like painting with marshmallow fluff !
It really is! So sticky!
Excellent! Can this replace the yearly roof caulking? I’m a new camper owner and was told I need to recaulk the roof every year.
We did not recaulk every year. We would only add caulk if we noticed it was getting worn in spots. We have had campers for many years. People advice, but it's overly precautionary. Yes, resealing it like this would take the place of that if you were planning to do that.
Did you use plane water to clean the roof or add something to it?
I've seen people use Eternabond versus Dicor around the roof vents and such. Do you think that's a bad idea or can Eternabond do a sufficient job?
@@jrnyrv theoretically yes it can do the job however if it ever comes time to remove that skylight you will also tear your rubber roof so in my personal opinion I would stick to dicor
@@iair-conditiontheoutsideai3076 bingo, say no more.
Very helpful video. For an older motor home with some cracking on the old roof seams - is 1 coat enough?
Glad you found it helpful! How deep are the cracks? We had a few areas with holes and deep cracks that we painted with a thick coat prior to rolling so that those spots got more that one coat. Otherwise as long as you apply it thickly one coat should be sufficient.
I have Tropicool on my roof, about 3 gallons.
I’ve used the Henry’s silicone based roof coating on a steel barn roof as well, about 20 gallons.
Both of them are doing very well, sticks to everything like a champ.
Good to know and glad it's holding up well!!

@@LifesSweetJourney thank you. Beautiful stuff really. Indeed many RV in my rv resort here. They used flex seal products and the products last many years. Beautiful stuff
I’ve never really had much luck with flexseal products for the most part I haven’t tried them all
Sorry to hear that!! So far everything has worked well for us. Hopefully you have found something that works for you!
Great work thanks. For that now I no what to do
Glad you found it helpful!! Best of luck with your reseal
We flex sealed our roof and then it got hot and then cold here in texas, within about 3 months and boom we had leaks again it's still leaking . Very bummed because it's expensive and it we live in our camper all year long.
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that! We actually haven't check on it in the last week (after the freeze we just had here in Florida). Will have to see how it's held up, but we're about 2 years in now and it's held up ok. We were full-time for the first year and then have used it on and off the last year, otherwise it sits in the Florida sun and haven't had any issues. Even did ok through the recent hurricanes, but we definitely keep a close eye on it. Are there any visible exposed parts where it may have needed a patch? We did do one small patch job about 8 months in.
Is product suitable to cover over silastic products?
would this help cover up any dents from possible rain damage?
Yes! If they are deeper dents you may want give it an extra coat in that area, but it worked on even our large rips!
