This was a great watch. I live on the north east coast of Scotland and have worked in the oil/gas industry for 30 years, so this was right up my street.
@@Calupp lol...actually back in the day workers in the north sea were referred to as 'North Sea Tigers' due to the nature of the work and how dangerous it was (less so these days).
3:24:41 - The ‘life flash’ thing is surprisingly true actually. Years ago I had total lung failure, died and was resuscitated. I realized I was dying when I couldn’t see anymore - everything went ‘sepia’ tone fading up to just bright light. Then I had a life flash, but words fail to interpret that experience. It wasn’t like watching a movie, it was like I was dropped into every moment of my life and re-lived it simultaneously. It lasted zero time but for a moment I could see every I’d ever done - good, bad, mundane. The reality of my existence. Right after, it was as if I was being asked if I was okay or not with how I’d lived - no person, not even a voice, just the brightness. I said yes, to my own surprise really as I was in my 20’s and not considered death much (the illusion of a full life span when really no one is guaranteed that truly). I felt a lovely sense of peace and nothingness - but not scary in the least, more like the respite you’d hope for from a great vacation. Aaaaand then I woke up in a hospital ICU, to find out I’d been in a coma (one they didn’t expect me to wake from) 😅 I really had never given any thought to what might happen when I died before that - and I thought the whole life flash idea sounded ridiculous. I technically died very painfully and yet was really surprised by how much I *didn’t* suffer in reality - despite the fact that they couldn’t sedate me or give me pain killers due to the situation. I was told it looked torturous for me at the time, but it did not feel that way. Also, instead of cold and dark, death was bright and warm. To this day, I’m really grateful for that experience because it took away that impending fear of death. I came to believe/understand that the ‘fear of the unknown’ aspect about death is much worse than death itself. It gave me a very healthy understanding of how incredibly uncertain life can be - as I had been perfectly healthy and what killed me could have happened to anyone. Ironically dying made me live better and appreciate things I never noticed because I was too caught up in everyday things I ultimately realized I didn’t actually care about after that experience. It put me in touch with what I actually valued, versus what I was raised/told I should value. So while it upended how I chose to live after that experience, my everyday life is so much better as a result 🥰
Wow 😨 such a deep moving story. Life definitely feels different after an experience like that. Happy that your now living in the moment and have made peace with it 🌈
Probably some of the best voice acting in the industry. The subtitles “translation” is genius, allows the script/VO to go all out with that Scottish authenticity. Love it. That beginning with Suze’s VO, the melancholic music, you barely 2mins into the game and you already feel emotional; that’s pure talent there
I haven’t heard voice acting this good in any game be it triple A or Indie. Absolutely flabbergasted by the animation and attention to detail. My word. Should get an award or commendation on that alone
Amen. It feels like a mix of Alien Isolation and Alan Wake 2 with the storyline of The Thing / The Abyss. Amazing concept that wipes the floor with a lot of “triple A” games out nowadays.
Honestly hearing all the people screaming for help and dying behind the doors is actually terrifying. Also the fact that once they are monsters they are still aware of what they're doing but they just cant control it.
this game is really good it's like alien isolation without the bloat plus the movie annihilation only on an oil rig, all the deaths on the phones are great too fills you with so much dread hearing them drowning etc.
In all seriousness though, working at an oil rig is like this IRL, in term of not seeing your family for years. You're out in the middle of the ocean and don't see anything aside from mass water, which is not much different than being stationed in middle of nowhere for the military too. Sometime you won't have communication either because of the heavy storm or malfunctioned communication, and you have to fix them. They pay you well for these kind of jobs, but there's a reason behind them, and it's because you don't even have anywhere to spend the money since you're stuck in middle of ocean. It's a very lonely and depressing lifestyle. It's even worse if you have a wife and kids waiting at home for you, because you don't want to miss your kids growing up, as they can't grow back down to a baby. Once you miss their graduation, it's gone forever. Spend time with your family, folks. No amount of money is worth it when you miss your kids taking their first step, first time talking, riding a bike, and the list goes on.
Having oil rig crew leave on a short holiday two or three times a year wouldn't be that difficult, large transport helicopter could transport the entire crew in a few flights.
Horror games like these are absolutely beautiful, these definitely leave a mark on me, and it will always sit in my thoughts, I really got attached to Caz, which says a lot, we need more horror games like this, and Roy's death was so sad, I wanted him to live
I’m from Aberdeen, Scotland. Never thought I’d see a game mentioning my city on one of Hollows vids lol. Working offshore on the rigs is very common here, Aberdeen is the closest onshore city in north east Scotland where the main heliport used for transport to all the rigs is. Very well paid work but you’re away from family for weeks at a time. Could be 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off. A lot of the young guys get issues with various vices cus they come back onshore for 3 weeks with loads of cash and nothing to do! Mad dangerous work. There have been many chopper crashes and deaths. If anyone is interested in a real rig disaster here look up ‘Piper Alpha’. Very sad story of a rig EXACTLY like this one from the game which had an explosion in the 80s and most workers had to jump into the sea or burn. About 170 men died. There’s a memorial in one of the parks here. Similar thing with the tone of the game where the company operating the rig was kinda blamed for safety issues but mostly got away with it, lots of regulation after that. Horrible disaster, one of my friends’ dads was killed in it Anyway thanks Hollow another great vid!
Was in Aberdeen a few months back. Mate lived by some fishing boats(I say boats, more like ships, ...huge). Was stood at some lighthouse. Mate reckons its the furthest North East of the UK you can get(or somethin like that?)
This is the most intense and deep game I think I've ever watched... There is so much humanity and depth to the characters which makes it so hard to not be affected emotionally by the desperation and loss. Well done to the devs, wow.
As a Brit I can't tell you how impressed I am with this game. To hear BBC Radio 4's shipping forecast in its full BBC plummy accent like the old days of longwave radio is astounding and the fidelity of the Scots dialogue is absolutely brilliant. A landmark in gaming, I would say.
The subtitles switch all the good Scottish cursing into American English. How am I suppose learn proper Scottish cursing, I'm American I don't even know where Scotland is!!!🤣
This game is phenomenal all around. Story, graphics, play style. But my favorite thing is the clear pathways it gives you. I like that it won’t let you explore and get distracted, because exploring wouldn’t be realistic to a survival situation. I like that it’s fast paced and you can’t waste time. 10/10 game for sure
10 /10 i felt the ending so hard..This game is incredibly made. One of the few horror games I watched you play where I actually felt connected with the characters
Incredible game. I love how the acting is all very sincere and performed professionally. Feels like you're actually involved and not just in a walking simulator. I do wish they played a little more into the thalassophobia, though that's just me. Thanks for the gameplay, Hollow! Also, I suspect that those faces are indeed still alive, even if they're unable to move.
This was top tier horror goodness! The Thing in an oil rig setting. The gameplay, story, voice acting, atmosphere, and the soundtrack were on the spot! Kudos to the devs behind this game. We watched this with the family and shared the laughter and fright together. Thanks for another quality content Hollow!

The characters in this game are amazing Roy and Caz's friendship, and Caz voicing his displeasure going through areas where the horrifying monsters are is also a nice touch. Not to mention just how horrifying those monsters truly are the game devs really did a great job on making them look... disgusting.
I just love that they've translated the subtitles from Scottish slang to "regular" English 😂. Also what an incredible game, it definitely took a page or two from Lovecraft which I always appreciate. Cosmic horror is one of my favourite genres of horror.

This is the third walkthrough I watch from a youtuber and now that I already know what'll happen, so many things at the earlier stages of the game stand out much more.
I just started watching this. When you're talking to guy in canteen, the head movements are so good and matched certain parts of conversation like someone irl I love it!
Wow!!! Just WOW! I felt that the time invested in this game really makes the player emotional when it got to the end. I loved how the character had a relationship with all of the people on the rig. This was so amazing. Thank you for playing this game!
if he comes back home - he will be jailed, his flat being confiscated and his family homeless, with wife clearly preparing papers for divorce as of now. So there's that. Salvation from cosimc horrors would still not be great story for the main character.
This was my second try on this game ( to watch it ) The first time at some other channel.. and the beginning was so boring/slow that I fell asleep and didnt come back to it. But I saw it on your channel... and I thought "Well... I know Hollow does a hell good job with the games - goes into them with heart and seriousness and everything thats needed" and I give it a go. And I looved it.. freaking amazing job. The game. The play. Your reaction. The connection with the story. Thank you... this is the type of channel that are more needed in the world. Thank you again !
Finally got around to watching this, normally I get bored with "walking/errand sim" type of games but not once was I bored here. Great game, great gameplay. Peak. Love it.
Almost all the way through, and yet again another hit! Your videos never miss in all honesty. I appreciate the consistency and posting and the connection to the fans you have. I have only been watching you for roughly 3 years at most, but the growth is insane!!! I'm truly proud of you, and will continue to watch 💪💯
I can't believe this is an indie game. .. The team is brilliant. the attention to details, voice acting, graphics and animations .. all are great. I am amazed by the efforts this team made to deliver such a masterpiece. Wow! They surely deserve to be recognised.
Oil rig seems like one of those professions that you do while single and young and put aside as much money as possible so you can retire early when you start a family. Same as careers like airline pilot or touring musician. Sure, some families do it successfully, but very rare.
The things that scare me most about the ocean is that it is so big and unexplored, and we can't go anywhere close to the bottom. I think there are some beasts down there that we should leave alone 😂
that was amazing! its my biggest fear to be out in the middle of the ocean! i literally held my breath so many times throughout this playthru! oomg...*whew* it was just amazing! love your content! cant wait till the next one!
Wow this game is beautiful! the contrast between the horror and heartbreak is so good, visually stunning as well. This team did amazing, they should be really proud! I hope they make more games like this in the future.
Hello there, I am grateful to have come across your channel. The way you speak and go about playing these games are really relaxing to watch. As someone that has been having difficulty with relaxing, your channel has been helpful. Amazing work!
Do you guys have a crew of geologists on your rig by any chance? I'm trying to find a good job to apply my geology degree toward, and I would definitely consider an oil rig
It took me three days to finish this video but I kept watching during my lunch break and before bed and I loved the story and play-through, the voice acting and ofc hollow himself and his commentary! I was excited to come back and finish it and I agree with hollow that this is the most realistic and honestly best ending for the story.
Haven't gotten choked up this much by a playthrough in a very long time...heartbreaking story, absolutely stunning game with fantastic attention to detail. Another excellent video! 👍👍
I Doubt you will see this but i am new to your channel and I absolutely love the way you do your videos its not a overly annoying 1 style of games aka mascot and the way you compliment some games i just love to see that in larger creators
Been rewatching this specific gameplay for weeks. There's nothing not to admire about the game. The plot, the voice acting, the suspense, the attention to detail, the rich characters, they're just so good! It's like you're really experiencing what happened.
i havent seen your channel before and was worried you'd miss things and ignore important little bits like a lot of other lets players playing anything. love when letsplayers are competent, it's like the smart character in a horror movie. dude memorizes maps and checks for anything hidden. subbed
Why? It was super predictable from the start if you ever played any of these walking simulators since amnesia and soma. And who cares about his wife? You only heard that she exists once in the intro and that was it
Glad I sat down and watched through the whole video, fantastic gameplay, fantastic game. The end was really heartbreaking, but Caz did what needed to be done.
What an experience. I loved your gameplay, as always. And I know of course, the ending was the most realistic thing that could happen to Caz and to everyone on the rig, but like I do in real life, I just hope things would end up all right for them, you know :(
I loved watching you play this gem, Hollow! Being stranded at sea is a horrific thought, especially with those monsters, but what an amazing and heartfelt story tied in within a horror game. I wish there were more games like this.

I caught you bro, just accept it,accept your fate.
Faith? Lol. It's fate@@absolute_Raven
I know hes been looking rather scrumptious lately👀😰 (female here)😂😂😂😂
This is the third walkthrough I watch from a youtuber and now that I already know what'll happen, so many things at the earlier stages of the game stand out much more.
Holy crap! Three and a half hours of horror goodness!
Imagine being told your not getting your Christmas bonus. Then you have the the most terrifying Christmas of your life 😂
if he comes back home - he will be jailed, his flat being confiscated and his family homeless, with wife clearly preparing papers for divorce as of now. So there's that. Salvation from cosimc horrors would still not be great story for the main character.
This horror game deserves recognition and awards this year!
This was my second try on this game ( to watch it )
The first time at some other channel.. and the beginning was so boring/slow that I fell asleep and didnt come back to it.
Finally a fresh horror video from hollow , that I can watch while eating my breakfast. Let''s go!!
Not an Indie, The Chinese Room are owned by Sumo Digital, so somewhere in between - not triple-A, but also not single-A 🤣
Oil rig seems like one of those professions that you do while single and young and put aside as much money as possible so you can retire early when you start a family.
The way things SLOWLY get worse until midgame then pick up. It's insane. And the story telling too.
hollow is one of the youtubers out of like 5 that i will never stop watching, i adore him
YESSSS!!! I was waiting for you to post your reaction to this game. Thank you, and enjoy
Yesss a 3hr+ game! And its horror!!! The graphics are absolutely amazing🔥 always happy to watch you!
Now this is what I call an eldritch horror. No one survives, and if one did, they would go mad in the end.
Hello there, I am grateful to have come across your channel.
The way you speak and go about playing these games are really relaxing to watch.
As someone that has been having difficulty with relaxing, your channel has been helpful.
Amazing work!
I'm watching this on an oil rig! Creepy AF!!
I would work there too but not trained in anything
Do you guys have a crew of geologists on your rig by any chance? I'm trying to find a good job to apply my geology degree toward, and I would definitely consider an oil rig
Not only was this game so creative, thought out and interesting, I actually also learned about oil rigs 😂 10/10 game! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It took me three days to finish this video but I kept watching during my lunch break and before bed and I loved the story and play-through, the voice acting and ofc hollow himself and his commentary! I was excited to come back and finish it and I agree with hollow that this is the most realistic and honestly best ending for the story.
The voice acting here feels so real, the VAs did a great job
Haven't gotten choked up this much by a playthrough in a very long time...heartbreaking story, absolutely stunning game with fantastic attention to detail. Another excellent video! 👍👍
I Doubt you will see this but i am new to your channel and I absolutely love the way you do your videos its not a overly annoying 1 style of games aka mascot and the way you compliment some games i just love to see that in larger creators
Welcome fam 😊
Been rewatching this specific gameplay for weeks. There's nothing not to admire about the game. The plot, the voice acting, the suspense, the attention to detail, the rich characters, they're just so good! It's like you're really experiencing what happened.
took me ages to realise this was based off the film, absolutely class game! love your content man!
What film?
@@krashd"The Thing"
i havent seen your channel before and was worried you'd miss things and ignore important little bits like a lot of other lets players playing anything. love when letsplayers are competent, it's like the smart character in a horror movie. dude memorizes maps and checks for anything hidden. subbed
28 minutes ago is wild. Real determination bro! Much respect for you bro!
I think this is my favourite video of yours, Hollow, and this looks like an amazing game.
This is one of the best games I have played in a while! They did such amazing work
YES a new horror vid ! Is it weird that I barely play games anymore lmao I just snack out and watch hollow 😂
Holy cow, this game looks phenomenal. The voice acting is top notch too. Another great video Hollow.
Where is the person that requested Hollow play this? 😂This one’s for youuuuu
That’s what Iam saying lol
I'm here lol
What’s the name of the game?
The ending brought some tears to my eyes. So well done. Appreciate this playthrough man!
This is some top-notch voice acting in this game. Fantastic.
One of the best games so far! Thank you for playing!
That ending really choked me up. Thanks for this one!
Why? It was super predictable from the start if you ever played any of these walking simulators since amnesia and soma. And who cares about his wife? You only heard that she exists once in the intro and that was it
@@AbuHajarAlBugatti Hmmm. Fair enough. I just went with my emotions this time. I liked the sappy ending.
I was not expecting to cry so much. I got so emotionally attached and started thinking what I would do if I was on that rig.😂 Such a great game.
I’ve never been so invested in a game walk through. Half way through and hoping Finlay is still alive at the end!
good voice actors love the graphics design and scottish accent as well as the english breakfast shown in the game all the minute details
Glad I sat down and watched through the whole video, fantastic gameplay, fantastic game. The end was really heartbreaking, but Caz did what needed to be done.
This game is literally The Thing on an oil rig-- and I'm here for it!!
I agree
What an experience. I loved your gameplay, as always. And I know of course, the ending was the most realistic thing that could happen to Caz and to everyone on the rig, but like I do in real life, I just hope things would end up all right for them, you know :(
Wakey wakey hollow posteddddddddddd
Great game. Nicely done Hollow! I watch these vids more than I watch tv.
just finished it. 10/10/ loved it -so sad at the end. that was the morning he left and never came back for Christmas
This was the most I’ve been invested in a game in a long time! Amazing story! And I love the longer let’s plays ❤
Let's gooooo can't wait to see. Much luv from N.Y.😊
I loved watching you play this gem, Hollow! Being stranded at sea is a horrific thought, especially with those monsters, but what an amazing and heartfelt story tied in within a horror game. I wish there were more games like this.
The ending had me like: 🥺🤧😭
