We've been in Uneva, back to the mining ruins. It's a tough drive to do that last part leading to Uneva. Now we'll have to go back and see the petroglyphs.
I appreciate it, I had a lot of fun with this one! Not so challenging left me energy to focus on the shots more, till I started running from the rain anyway, LOL.
@@billloessberg9830 Thanks Brother, I really enjoy the artsy factor of editing and how it allows me to draw the viewers attention to the desired subject. I don’t know my toads, but I’m sure you’re right. Amazing they can survive there, I’m sure it’s totally dry there most of the time. I was worried for them just making it through the day.
I thought the videography was great, I liked the creative use of the shots you had, and sometimes POV footage can make me dizzy after a while. The rotating shot of the pool reflection was very nice.
Thank you, when I started making TH-cam videos, I vowed not to do POV only, painful to watch after a while. More I get into videography the more I have fun with the artistic side of it!
This fall I spent some time around Factory Butte then up to the Wedge/Buckhorn area. Planned to stay longer but Helene forced an early return to South Carolina. Already planned a next Fall trip back to the Swell and this video has added ideas to the plan. Thanks! Great work
I would strongly recommend getting the road trip Ryan app, all kinds of great ideas with instructions maps and GPS coordinates to go along with it, totally worth six bucks! I use it all the time.
Another great video Karl. That wall with the old drawings was great. Sorry about the GoPro. Reminded me of my last trip out with the drone. Did not fare well getting it back with one dead motor.
Yep, if there is a kind of camera I've lost, well killed. . . it's the ones on the drones. . . oops. I just love flying sideways and in canyons, I'm finally telling myself, you can loose the drone this flight, every launch, and it helps keep me from getting to carried away! I had seen that wall before climbing 1000' of fun but there were Way More petroglyphs there then I realized. Cheers
Pinyon jays! And red spotted toads! And yeah that looks like ringtail, the only one we've ever seen was in a similar condition. I love your 4th+ class sketch videos, but this was great. Some of my best days were reef-walking and just exploring all over the Swell, and sometimes I live vicariously through you when I'm at work in the Middle East and really miss tramping around these places. I am always curious about the birds and critters you're seeing out there so it was good to see some of that. The Pinyon jay is supposed to be added to the Endangered Species list in 2027, though that is in question now with the new administration. It is astounding how much life is contained in small desert pools in the short time they're around. We saw hundreds of those tiny red spotted toads in the same kind of place, down here west of Santa Fe a couple years ago, and that was the only time, so they have been buried in the mud and waiting how long for just the right conditions... Anyway, great video! Always stunning scenery out there, but this was exciting in a different and maybe slightly less macro kind of way.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge on the animals, I’m always very interested. The ringtail is the coolest of all, I never would have guessed.
That’s for sure, did you notice the mini time lapses? No clouds is pretty bland and the colors just aren’t as cool when it’s totally overcast, just got back from a trip like that. It turned rainy and almost trapped me due to mud! It was a really amazing place, though, you’ll see it soon!
I looked them up and I’ll bet your right! That area is part of their range. What a cool animal, I had no idea. Amazing they can survive back there so far from water. I won’t be surprised if he died somewhere closer to the water and a bird carried him, or that part of him, to that spot??? Thank you for the info.
@@KarlDeckerPresents you're welcome, and thanks for the video, I usually blow past the Reef on my way to CRNP or GSENM, but need to get up in there one of these days. The wild beauty and solitude draw me like a magnet! I'd share some of my favorite destinations but only under an NDA, lol!
Thanks for the info! I see them a lot. There’s a really quick easy trip on the north side of the I 70 at the swell with a few petroglyphs and spirit arches as well as black dragon Canyon. You could do that even in a time crunch! Cheers
Enjoyed this one as we have done both canyons a few years ago. Isn’t this the 2nd time with a lost GoPro? The petroglyphs were amazing. Thanks for sharing! 😀😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍
@@lynnnorthrup8914 No, first time ever and a good excuse… I was literally running for miles “moving full Speed” to outrun that storm and had not used it during the threatening period. It unscrewed from the selfie stick that I still have. 🥹 one of my favorite places in the swell. Cheers brother

I was very impressed with them, should be worth it, as well as a little hiking along the front of the reef!
This is some of the most amazing camera work. Very well done. You should get an award for this one.

Excellent camera shot rotate on the pond reflection. Red spotted toad?

I feel privileged to have been taken on this very rich hike of discovery 👍. The petroglyphs were unexpected and surreal. Thanks again K-man
Thanks buddy. I’ll call you this week, my wife’s heading out of town.
@@KarlDeckerPresents That'd be great
Great hike with some cool ‘glyphs! Well done on the artistic reflection pool selfie shot also 👍
Thank you Brother, some planning and luck came together on the Shot and the Glyphs,
Absolutely fantastic, Karl ! 🙂
Many thanks! The swell never ceases to amaze!

Great video Karl. Those glyphs were awesome! Clouds in Utah make all the difference in the photos captured.

Great video. I love Utah. I've been through the swell many times on I-70, but have never stopped to explore. BTW, the blue birds were Pinyon Jays.

Big Thank-you! you know, you are the ONLY ONE who has helped to support me. I really predicate it!
Love the drone shots above the "Reef". Too bad about losing your camera.
