On my first visit to Hanksville, almost 50 years ago on my first 'Grand Circle' motorcycle trip to Utah, we approached from I-70/Green River to the north and needless to say I wasn't impressed. After passing through town and heading west, my jaw was 'on the ground' for the next week... Really cool how you take us there on google maps/earth, we only had paper road maps back in those days, so much was missed...
Nice video. I definitely need to go back and explore that area more. You mentioned bad lighting, but I actually think the overcast conditions actually brought out the colors better than sunny weather would have. I went to the Moonscape Overlook and drove past some bentonite hills along Wild Horse Road on a sunny day in October and the colors were more washed out. I think overcast lighting conditions or golden hour would bring them out the best.
Very nice video. I did a bike tour a couple years ago from Brian Head ski resort over to Fruita Colorado and passed right by factory Butte, up to Goblin Valley State Park, all via backroads like the ones in your video. I think I must’ve been to the west of where you shot this because I saw tons of really cool formations, but they were mostly gray and I was 1 to maybe 10 miles from the / east of swell. I will absolutely be going to this area. took some note sent myself a text. I can’t wait to do a bike tour through this. Thanks for sharing. Nice work!
Such natural beauty; almost like some sort of abstract painting 🖼️. Great drone footage as always! I wonder where they came up with the name for that tall spire…. 😉
!!!omg, who needs photo shop when Earth looks like this? How fortunate we are that, smallish crowds aside, such national park-worthy areas remain ripe for exploration in solitude
Neat video! You’re right it’s a drone flying paradise. We have been multiple times. We actually encountered the Mars research team on the road and have visited the dinosaur quarry when they were working there. Bentonite Hills in the Upper Cathedral Valley Capitol Reef is also very cool. Thanks for sharing!😀😀👍👍
Great, great, great video. Professional!!!!!
Thank you, I do my best and it's finally getting pretty good!

Amazing what you'll find if you dive in deep, I'm so glad we did!
Primordial place.
At first it kind of felt like a graveyard to me so devoid of life, but after exploring around the beauty just blew me away!
If you can see Factory Butte you are in a good place.
I just wish I could climb that thing but sounds super dangerous!
It's very impressive and cool! I see something similar and unique. Than you for the original shots and the opportunity to learn something new.
I was amazed myself, glad you enjoyed it!

I was hoping for gold hour, I'm definitely going back explore more in camp out there.
Amazing to see the Overlook from the depths of the Martian 'scape. Turned my perspective on it's head. Very cool, thanks as always 👍
And I think the best is still yet to come as far as exploring that area!
Pretty awesome video Karl.
Thanks, brother, I was very much looking forward to some cool flying in that area!

I would love to do something like that, I've been looking at Google Earth between those two locations you mentioned and it looks cool!

I think they named it after me, lol!
Frack it !!! …or so unique in the world …….”no motorized “ ….respect begets respect

I was amazing, and I didn't see anyone much past the Mars research station.
FantasticF
Glad you liked it! Definitely worth a visit.
Lifeless yet strangely beautiful. Closest to the moon or mars surface as we can get
And it did feel creepy at first, but it was so beautiful. I forgot all about it till I saw the rain coming.

I'm going back, no question.
The area of Hanksville is full of dinosaur bones. Going there in winter is best in most ways other than mud as you say. Summer, too hot!
I did stop by the dinosaur pits, but didn't do any footage there, it was a cool place though.
Are you here Karl?
Of course.
