Disassembly, battery replacement & upgrade, LED dimming th-cam.com/video/vO_JqeizMso/w-d-xo.html The APC by Schneider Electric BX1200MI-GR is available for EU from: amzn.to/3aBclFA amzn.to/3DGfErx amzn.to/3p4U23V
Hi @TechTronic9000 can you tell me how far should be this yellow contact inserted to say :" OK...I'm properly inserted in" ? I have model BVX1200LI-GR. BTW Great video :)
The yellow fuse has top and bottom parts that stick out. When they touch the USP case then it is fully in as it's not physically possible to push it more.
Thank you for the video. Question: When you set beep function to disable all times, does that include when even pc is off and power is gone at the same time?
What a great review, thanks a bunch. I ordered the same one a couple of minutes ago, hopefully it'll be enough to keep everything alive. Any new thoughts about it since you purchased it?
It needs a bit of space around as it gets very warm, also regardless of what the manual says you can adjust the green LED so I might end up taking it apart to disable then. Other than this it works ok and it kept my computer up for several times when I had power problems.
Did you disassembly it? How hard it is to replace battery? Manual says that battery is not user replaceable. I feel qualified enough to do it but how hard it is to open? I would like to know this because I am going to buy a few of them.
Is it possible to change battery yourself on this one? It says in the manual you shouldn't do it yourself. Also, which battery do you recommend if you change it?
If you have some tools and some knowledge you can replace the battery easy. I always search for local SLA batteries and compare the price. It just needs to physically fit, to have the same voltage and similar capacity.
Great review really ! So happy to see that it has no sound which is very important for me so thx. Trying to decide and order a silent ups but i wonder what is the difference between APC easy and APC Back and Pro ones. Huge price difference between them. Any tips ?
Some say in Amazon reviews it stinks like burnt plastic and overheat? That happen with this model? Can be the batteries? because this are by default not APC , but other brand .
This video was just what I needed, thank you so much for this! Important question, if anyone can answer, will a sine wave like this work on my NAS? Or do I need a better sinewave for a PC?
A NAS and a PC use high efficiency switching power supplies that work OK with modified sine-wave. You only need pure sinus where you have electric motors that work directly on mains, conventional wire transformers, etc.
Thank you for the review. You did mention briefly the sound is minimal, but could you please advise if there is ANY noise/hum at all from the unit when in use (ie NOT on power failure)? Thanks
There is no noise from the unit when it's working normally (no power failure, not charging the battery). The only annoying thing is the powerful green light that stays on all the time and I might take it apart and try to disable it somehow.
@@TechTronic9000 Thanks for replying. I think you can dim the led light by a quick press of the power button (see the manual). I've decided not to purchase this ups because the battery is not 'user replaceable'. Thanks again for your video!
Can you use a usb-hub on the APC? I want to connect the APC to my Nas so it can shutdown correctly & to my PC to use the "PowerShut" software. This APC has only one usb connection so you do have to use a usb-hut to use both the Nas & PC.
No it wont work that way. I have a similar setup with NAS / PC and went with two UPS, this way I can balance power better so on 1st one I have my PC unit while on the 2nd one I have the NAS, router, another small 1 disk NAS and PC monitor. The one that feeds the NAS has USB to the nas and the other one has USB to the PC.
When it runs on the grid power it bypasses the inverter so you get the grid sine wave. When you have under voltage or over-voltage or blackout it will run the internal inverter and output square wave.
Is there macOs version of the app? I can't find one. If there is no macos version is there alternative version to disable the beep alarms on that device?
@@TechTronic9000 You can adjust the brightness by holding the power button for 1 second then release. This toggles the brightness but you can't turn it off.
@@TechTronic9000 sounds like there must have been a hardware revision then because the one I bought a few weeks ago dims just fine by holding the power button for 1 second.
Since Schneider took over APC all products are crap, you can buy good UPS from other brands with less money and superior specs. It's better to hunt for old APC UPS before the Schenider era and just replace the batteries if they are used.
True, I used to have old APCs and I kept on replacing batteries, but they also started to fail with similar faults. This model was kind of the economical way. I hope it will live at least to get a battery replacement from me.
Just a year and a few months, the original battery has failed. Good thing is that you can easy swap it and even upgrade it for almost two times more running capacity th-cam.com/video/vO_JqeizMso/w-d-xo.html
This is a joke of a ups. Apc really going down in quality. Single 9ah battery in a 650w capable ups?. I have another model also a cheap model that had two 7ah battery, the charger is so bad that both the batteries basically puffed up and cracked after 4yrs. I replaced them with 12ah Lifepo4 battery i made and after 4mins at 600w load the transformer got so hot that the internal overload poped i had to take apart the transformer and replace the thermal fuse. I have an even more expensive apc model called the br1000g and that one ran 20min on 600w load without any complain on the same battery pack.. the transformer on that 650w bx1100i is smaller than apc 500va unit from 2004.
Yes it's true the newer ones are cheaper buit. Also their old models had issues with too much heat drying up the batteries and puffing them. Other more serios models such as the RS1500 series were dying of failing voltage sensing randomly switching to battery and no longer seeing mains power. Sadly the UPS market is not great as you either get generic rebranded cheap ones that have existed for eons, or get some more expensive one and hope it will work more than its warranty.
Which ups should i go for then.. i want to connect a 42inch led ,ps5 and a home theatre... will the br1000g be good.. or the other one which is shown in this video will be enough.. ?
@@kushshrestha03 br1000g is the way to go , if u want more capacity buy br1500g. I never buy ups new. I just get them used with bad batteries and replace the batteries way cheaper than buying new. And Lifepo4 mod works well on that ups cus it has external battery connector which is just + - battery detect (which needs to be shorted to - when battery capacity is extended).
You can also upgrade this one easy, now I'm using a 14Ah battery with it and have much more better runtime. Here is how to do it th-cam.com/video/vO_JqeizMso/w-d-xo.html

Yes it does. If you set the beep off it doesn't matter if you have a load on the UPS or not. The beep starts when mains go off and the UPS is on.

LI doesn't have software monitoring.

The battery is easy to be replaced, the ups only has 4 screws and opens up. It uses a standard 12V SLA battery, probably a 7 or 9Ah model.

if not blackout, the ups output is pure sinewave or simulated sinewave ?
If there is no black out the UPS will just switch to mains.
If the UPS run on power from grid will the sinewave be sinus or square as you showed ?
When it runs on the grid power it bypasses the inverter so you get the grid sine wave. When you have under voltage or over-voltage or blackout it will run the internal inverter and output square wave.

From what I know there is no app for mac OS.
hello, can i run a led tv on battery back up mode?? or it should be pure sine wave??
Most modern electronics work ok without haveing perfect sine wave. The problem is on old devices with transformers, electric motors, etc.
appreciate the review mate
Can yoiu test it with a computer PSU? I don't know if the wave difference is a problem?
It's the same with any kind of load, PC PSU, incandescent bulb, etc. It's just a cheap inverter with no sine wave.
Do I need ups with pure sine for power suply with active pfc ? Or this ups, in your review is sufficent ?
No you don't need a pure sine wave. Your computer PSU will work fine with any UPS.
What the difference between the bx and bvx model
Probably the number & format of the rear outlets.
