It made the game completely uncontrollable. It says at the start screen to press start but no mmatter how many time i press the fuckin start (on a one controller) it won`t start and it`s the same with the keyboard.

I want to say after watching this video a second time it was a lot more clear and I love how you slowly gives you the directions of what to download and copy and paste to replace the files
The video was great, but I needed some extra assistance. I struggled with where to paste the mod files--don't paste them in the folders labeled Mass Effect and Config respectively, just paste them in the same locations where you find those folders, as in the common folder under steamapps (for the game) and in the documents-bioware-mass effect folder location (for config). I thought I had done it correctly, but hadn't, and Abaddon was very helpful in taking his own time to walk me through the process of doing it correctly via discord (something else that my luddite-self had never used before). This was uber helpful and its really appreciated that you're willing to assist us with something so many of us don't know how to do. Thanks again.

@@meltonjohn2150 The way I did it: 1. Copy the x360ce program itself into the same folder as the masseffect.exe, if i remember correctly it should be in your game directory in the binaries folder 2. Run x360ce, configure your controller. If a pop up asks you about a missing .dll file, create it 3. Save your configuration and close x360ce Your configuration will be launched with the game. There is no need to keep x360ce open in the background. I hope this helps!

Hi, I think I solved it. When removing and reinstalling the game, I forgot the folder in documents. I followed your video again, and my previous mistake was putting the zip file of mass effect into the file mass effect instead of replacing it. At first sight everything works properly. Thank you! I tried downloading it three times and it keeps giving me an error message saying, "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page."

I have a Razer Wolverine controller for like the xbox one or S, i dont even own the console, but this method worked and its a modern controller. Just unzip and drop into the respective folders and you should be good to go, no extra mapping or bullshit.
5/5 - Extremely Helpful! I was very nervous when I followed these instructions - I'm extremely technologically illiterate, so I was afraid of accidently wrecking the game on my PC somehow. In particular, I was worried by the following: the modded "Mass Effect" file from NexusMods is much smaller than the full Mass Effect file on my PC (i.e., the one I downloaded from Steam). The Steam version installed on my PC had DLC and all this other stuff that was not in the modded version. Thus, I was afraid that, by following the instruction to paste the modded "Mass Effect" file and replace the extant (in my case, Steam) "Mass Effect" file, I would be losing DLC and all that extra stuff. However, my fears were completely baseless: when you paste and 'replace' the (in my case) Steam version, it doesn't actually replace all the extra stuff and DLC, etc. Instead, the files in the modded "Mass Effect" file ONLY REPLACE THE ANALOGOUS FILES in the (in my case) Steam version! Thus, if you are technologically illiterate like me, and you share that concern, do not worry! It all works fine, all my DLC is retained, etc. By trusting Dreamy Abaddon's instructions and following them to the letter, I got exactly what I wanted: I can now play Mass Effect on my PC with an Xbox controller. Hi, in the hope you might reply to this I have a question:- what about Legendary Edition? I started playing ME1LE a few days ago, using an XBone controller on pc. The weird thing is, everything actually works, with the exception that I can't access the wheel so I'm pretty much having to play using only the guns & while I can upgrade guns/armour, I can't change/upgrade ammo etc. I'm shocked that Bioware didn't include controller support in LE. I mean, every other game I've played does pretty much so you'd really think they would, especially for such a huge release. I have to use a modified controller to play anything after smashing my right hand to pieces in a serious bike accident so I'm kinda screwed if I can't find a way to use it fully & I know there'll be no way I can move on to ME2 without being able to access the wheel. Do you know a way to sort this? Cheers
The wheel menu actually works for this mod but the mod was designed for the original mass effect games. I don't own the Legendary Edition and so I have no way of testing it. I have no idea if there are even mods like this for it. Sorry.
Not working for me. I'm using an Xbox One controller on Steam. The mouse works to access the game and menu but on gameplay it spins out of control. Controller does nothing. :( HELP

I recommend everyone to read the .txt file that comes with the mod, lazy people like me move on to the installation process without reading first and relaying only on the video. I'm on Steam and I installed the Config folder in the wrong place. These are the two paths you need for Steam: C:\Users\\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Config and C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common If you install your games on a different drive like me, then (YourDrive:\SteamLibrary\Steam\steamapps\common Dreamy you are an incredible dude! Taking the time to troubleshooting the issue. Let's tip this guy.
Extract the zip file and you will see the folder shown in the video. Open it and you will see folder named masseffectcontroller. I went to the link and downloaded it but when i go to my downloads it doesn't have the option to extract it. It wants to use a app to open it that i don't seem to have.

Why is it downloading as a file instead of a folder composed of the three files? Like I only get a file and this doesn’t work. Could really use the feedback
What do you mean? If you're downloading this from my Google drive then it comes as a Zip file. What you need to do is extract the Zip file so that you get the folder that contains all the necessary content. That CD looking icon on my desktop is my Zip file. Yours won't look like mine because I changed the aesthetics so that all my zip files look like that. Once you download that zip file, follow the video instructions to unpack it and you're good to go. If you're still struggling with this let me know and I'll see what I can do to help. :)
You need to extract the files first silly. Download and install Winrar then use it to extract the zip file so you can open it's contents and follow along. If you still need help, let me know. Make sure to install the FREE version of Winrar. Don't pay for it. Good luck!
DreamyAbaddon ok so it was actually mass effect 3. So I watched the video and downloaded the apps. I installed the controller support. I didn’t back it up. But now when I attempt to open the game it won’t open.

Unfortunately it didn't worked perfectly. The best way was to import the Controller zip file to ME3 Tweaks and apply the mod. But even so thank you for the explanation.

Step#1 - On the Documents Folder, look for the BioWare Folder, then delete "Mass Effect" folder. Step#2 - On the Program files x86 folder, wherever your game is installed, delete the Mass Effect folder. Step#3 - Re-install game. Enjoy the game without ME1 controller mod. You need to run the game first then the BioWare Folder should be created in the Documents folder. Give that a try and report back if that worked or not. Best wishes.
I bought the game not to long ago, and bought the code from Amazon, but put the code in origin. I want to use the controller, however downloading the zip files is not taking me nowhere while I open or save. It keeps repeating to save or open while trying to download it. what should I do? Controllers for Xbox360, XboxOne, and Xbox SeriesX are all compatible because they are all Xinput devices. This mod enables native Xinput controller support. Just remember if a mod supports xbox controller, it means pretty much all of them. So short answer: Yes, it will work on Xbox360 controller! Simple enough steps and it worked for my origin game. However the game doesn't have audio now. All other games do have audio, so it's not my setup or anything like that! Ugh do i need to change something, somewhere?
This video helped me up until I actually started playing the game. My controller works but no power wheel appears and I can't put points into stats. My sensitivity is also really low. The mod read me says that I didn't replace the game binaries properly even though I copied the config as the video told me to. Ive tried uninstalling and re doing the steps and I still have this issue. What am I doing wrong?
When you uninstall the game, make sure the Game Folder is deleted (Where ever you installed it from) and make sure the Game folder inside the Documents folder is also deleted. You might need to delete them manually after uninstalling the game from Origin or Steam. Then re-install game and follow instruction of the video again. Following video was easy and worked perfectly. However, my left joystick on the xbox controller is not working properly. It will not always move me forward or in the direction I indicate when playing ME. Any ideas how to fix?

Of course NOT. Why would it? This is a mod tutorial specifically for Mass Effect 1 only. When a Mod is made for a game, it only works for that game. It doesn't magically work for other games.

Doesn't the game come with controller support? is it bad, and thats why people get mods for it instead? im considering buying legendary edition on steam bc of the sale!
The original trilogy does not come with controller support. So this mod is required. However, the Legendary Edition on Steam DOES have native controller support and there for this mod is not required. In fact, this mod only works for the original game and does not work on the Legendary Edition.

You need an application to uncompress the zip folder. What's popular is winrar. Download winrar. You can find it with A quick Google search. You can use the free version to uncompress the zip folder so you can reach the contents inside.
Hey there! Wonderful video! Do you happen to know how to get this to work with the MEUITM mod? It works perfectly, but when I try to install the hi-res textures the game wont get past the press start screen. I've already tried hiding the controller in steam. This DOES work with a ps4 controller, you just need the program x360ce.

Hi, in the hope you might reply to this I have a question:- what about Legendary Edition? I started playing ME1LE a few days ago, using an XBone controller on pc. The weird thing is, everything actually works, with the exception that I can't access the wheel so I'm pretty much having to play using only the guns & while I can upgrade guns/armour, I can't change/upgrade ammo etc. I'm shocked that Bioware didn't include controller support in LE. I mean, every other game I've played does pretty much so you'd really think they would, especially for such a huge release. I have to use a modified controller to play anything after smashing my right hand to pieces in a serious bike accident so I'm kinda screwed if I can't find a way to use it fully & I know there'll be no way I can move on to ME2 without being able to access the wheel. Do you know a way to sort this? Cheers
The wheel menu actually works for this mod but the mod was designed for the original mass effect games. I don't own the Legendary Edition and so I have no way of testing it. I have no idea if there are even mods like this for it. Sorry.

Not working for me. I'm using an Xbox One controller on Steam. The mouse works to access the game and menu but on gameplay it spins out of control. Controller does nothing. :( HELP

@@DreamyAbaddon great stuff! I was able to fix the issue. I recommend everyone to read the .txt file that comes with the mod, lazy people like me move on to the installation process without reading first and relaying only on the video. I'm on Steam and I installed the Config folder in the wrong place. These are the two paths you need for Steam: C:\Users\\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Config and C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
If you install your games on a different drive like me, then (YourDrive:\SteamLibrary\Steam\steamapps\common

All i can say is wrong? i dowloaded the file and there was no folder named masseffectcontroller
Extract the zip file and you will see the folder shown in the video. Open it and you will see folder named masseffectcontroller. What do you mean? When you download the zip file, you need to extract it before you can install the mod.
I went to the link and downloaded it but when i go to my downloads it doesn't have the option to extract it. It wants to use a app to open it that i don't seem to have.

Why is it downloading as a file instead of a folder composed of the three files? Like I only get a file and this doesn’t work. Could really use the feedback
What do you mean? If you're downloading this from my Google drive then it comes as a Zip file. What you need to do is extract the Zip file so that you get the folder that contains all the necessary content. That CD looking icon on my desktop is my Zip file. Yours won't look like mine because I changed the aesthetics so that all my zip files look like that. Once you download that zip file, follow the video instructions to unpack it and you're good to go. If you're still struggling with this let me know and I'll see what I can do to help. :)

I downloaded the game off steam. I download the file from the link. It opens at a notepad though and I can’t find the cooked folder. Please help
You need to extract the files first silly. Download and install Winrar then use it to extract the zip file so you can open it's contents and follow along. If you still need help, let me know. Make sure to install the FREE version of Winrar. Don't pay for it. Good luck!
DreamyAbaddon ok so it was actually mass effect 3. So I watched the video and downloaded the apps. I installed the controller support. I didn’t back it up. But now when I attempt to open the game it won’t open.

Unfortunately it didn't worked perfectly.
The best way was to import the Controller zip file to ME3 Tweaks and apply the mod.
But even so thank you for the explanation.

Sounds like the mod isn't working. Try reapplying it fresh. You might have missed something.

How do I uninstall ME1 Controller? I've tried uninstalling and repairing the game but it is still in effect.
Step#1 - On the Documents Folder, look for the BioWare Folder, then delete "Mass Effect" folder.
Step#2 - On the Program files x86 folder, wherever your game is installed, delete the Mass Effect folder.
Step#3 - Re-install game.
Enjoy the game without ME1 controller mod.

You need to run the game first then the BioWare Folder should be created in the Documents folder. Give that a try and report back if that worked or not. Best wishes.

Does this mod only work with an Xbox 360 controller, cuz I have the newest Xbox controller?
Controllers for Xbox360, XboxOne, and Xbox SeriesX are all compatible because they are all Xinput devices. This mod enables native Xinput controller support. Just remember if a mod supports xbox controller, it means pretty much all of them. So short answer: Yes, it will work on Xbox360 controller!

Simple enough steps and it worked for my origin game. However the game doesn't have audio now. All other games do have audio, so it's not my setup or anything like that! Ugh do i need to change something, somewhere?
how does the sensitivity change?

This video helped me up until I actually started playing the game. My controller works but no power wheel appears and I can't put points into stats. My sensitivity is also really low. The mod read me says that I didn't replace the game binaries properly even though I copied the config as the video told me to. Ive tried uninstalling and re doing the steps and I still have this issue. What am I doing wrong?
When you uninstall the game, make sure the Game Folder is deleted (Where ever you installed it from) and make sure the Game folder inside the Documents folder is also deleted. You might need to delete them manually after uninstalling the game from Origin or Steam. Then re-install game and follow instruction of the video again. Of course NOT. Why would it? This is a mod tutorial specifically for Mass Effect 1 only. When a Mod is made for a game, it only works for that game. It doesn't magically work for other games.

Doesn't the game come with controller support? is it bad, and thats why people get mods for it instead? im considering buying legendary edition on steam bc of the sale!
The original trilogy does not come with controller support. So this mod is required. However, the Legendary Edition on Steam DOES have native controller support and there for this mod is not required. In fact, this mod only works for the original game and does not work on the Legendary Edition.

You need an application to uncompress the zip folder. What's popular is winrar. Download winrar. You can find it with A quick Google search. You can use the free version to uncompress the zip folder so you can reach the contents inside.

You can't open mod files right after downloading it... You need to extract it first using a program like winrar or 7z.
1:38 stop here if you have it on steam as this will just delete your mass effect game.
If it's a Steam version, it needs to be pasted into the SteamLibrary\steamapps\common folder.
