    I only fish once or twice a year.
    But watching and listening to this legend is so relaxing.

    Hi Mick. Today's maths lesson.....1 enjoyable session plus 1 enjoyable (but not so productive) session equals 1 thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable video with lost of useful information. O.K., maths was never my strong point but the point is made! Thanks for posting. Still can't quite get my head around the fact that you do all your own filming (and editing)...sheer brilliance. Cheers and stay healthy. Ken

    I've found fishing from the Canvey side that the Thames estury fish seem to be more on he feed during the ebb. Great video. 😀👍🍀🐟

      Yes, I tend to agree with that - but I catch a fair amount right at the top of the tide, just as it turns.

    i know loads of good spots along here from Dartford creak to northfleet used to be superb fishing further on just past where empire paper mills jetty used to be, we all called it the black swan after a pub that was there

      Nice one John - I'll have to hunt down that area and intend to fish at the mouth of Dartford creek sometime. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      They are currently protected, so all go back. I would expect bass to eat small ones. Thanks for watching Colin.

      @@rodsangleuk6283 hi yep sorry forgot they are in decline at moment sad really as I fear that over the last 50 years ,probably more they have been abused by anglers as a nuisance species…..wen i started out on my fishing journey 60 plus years ago I fished a lake that is actually in the doomsday book , sited near to a monastery, next to a small brook called monks brook the lake was redug out in the fifties by some anglers which included my uncle so I started fishing it in 59/60 …there’s a sluice gate from the river at one end and there is a small sluice gate ar the lowest point that runs into monks brook wen opened ….
      .I have watched ,many years ago, elvers wriggling up the sluice gate to get into the lake ! Monks brook empties into a salmon pool and then the estuary…..
      Point is I wonder how many 100 years have those elvers been coming back to the lake from the sargasso sea……. and now they are facing extinction because we like eating them sad story that unfortunately is facing many species

    You’re brave man for fishing with all those weeds , I use to go to college there

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There seems to be a fair amount of floating weed from the Dartford Crossing to Grays - its not always a problem though. Thanks for watching.

    I always seem to end up in a muddle with doom rigs. Bad hook lengths maybe?

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I normally keep hoklengths short - about 5in. Sometimes they spin up - eels and whiting tend to cause that. Can find booms with swivels - these are particular useful on the Bristol Channel, where I use braid hooklengths, since conger eels can be a problem and I like to get them in.

    Rod, did you say your rods are 15ft?

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Colmic 07 rods are 4.6m, which is 15ft 1in. Most of my Grauvell continetal rods are slightly shorter at 4.5m; but I do use 16ft Diawa Grandwave rods for some of my fishing aswell

      Thanks Stephen. Yes I do like to look over a venue before fishing it and Google Earth is very helpful, particularly if it shows the coastline at low water.
