Glad I found this! Simple and clever enough to give my old hands a rest while protecting my thighs. Appreciation from an old woman just starting to carve. Thank you!
Terrific because it is simple! I use a board with a catch fence on the end to carve. This makes an excellent addition to the board. I may also add a drill press vice to hold work and pin it into the same holes. Nice!
Great piece of kit, Dave. So many spoon carving sites annoyingly assume that everyone's got a shave horse. I've been dying to find out a way to clamp my projects. I even considered buying a vice, but your idea seems so much better...find cheaper! Thank you 👍
Good idea dude cold don't bother me like heat does I put on a old fleece that one my foxes made a few holes in or any old fleece being outdoors and carving is fantastic especially with bird song but when needs must devil drives so you may end up indoors just put on bit of music or I has sound of nature or my drop kick Murphys CD just chill but punk rock normally clears out a room lol 👍🐾🦊🇬🇧
Wow cool idea I may give it a try fed up with my engineer vice marking my shillelaghs I make and spoons You may want to soak ya rope in natural bees wax so it doesn’t rot. 👍🇮🇹🐾🦊

I'm 68 (November last year). I have just finished my first spoon. I LOVE it and think it came out GREAT but OW! - my hands are SORE!!!
This looks exactly like what I need for my carving projects. I found this when searching for a wood carving clamp/vise.
Love the function and simplicity. Thank you.
👍👍👍
Wow 😮 excellent idea, thank you so much Dave!

Brillant! Thank you for sharing.
Really nice idea. I’m new to spoon carving and would benefit from seeing the carving in action in lap vise.
Like the idea, I'll pencil it in for a future vid 👍

15 minutes for 4 holes and a rope through :) Too bad i don't smoke weed, otherwise it'd be extremely entertained. Beyond all that, great tip, mate.

A demo would have been more beneficial than all that yacking.
Bingo!
Talk too much.
Oh dear, did you perhaps not understand some of the longer words... Never mind, when you turn 13 hopefully your vocabulary will expand a little.
