- After carving for several months now, I've out grown the little bench hook and clamp that I made early on so I'm making a new bigger one. I'll be uploading a lot of new vids shortly that come from my carving adventures, so subscribe and stay tuned!

Is this the same Bird Yeoman that sings & plays wonderful Gospel music! 🎵 😊
It is. ❤❤
Great video on making the bench hook. One thing I noticed is you need you a Worx power drill. This will let you have your drill bit and screw driver bit all on one drill. I have one and boy does it cut down on the time and energy. Keep sending the great videos. Mike Brady
Great info, going to make one myself, thanks
Thanks for the idea. I just started carving recently and any info helps!
I started about a year ago and I love it. If you haven't already, search Mary May on youtube. I learned a TON from her! Good luck on your adventure!
Just wondering why you cut your boards with a band saw instead of a table saw that would give you straighter cuts?
In my current setup (soon to change!) I have to roll my table saw out to the porch to make cuts on it not to mention I have to move my planer to get to it. It is also a rather cheap one. However, my bandsaw is quite well tuned and makes rather straight cuts with the resaw blade on it so it was a time and convenience thing. It's surprising how much better one's band saw becomes when a good blade is used and it is tuned properly. I replaced the blade that came on it after reading this with a Timberwolf blade. Unbelievable difference. Mine has almost no drift. It has become my favorite saw. Also, these cuts were not critical, however they came out quite straight. It was a convenience thing. But I'm about to enclose the porch area where I usually do my sawing and I'll be able to move all the saws and sanders out there permanently. I'll then be able to work in all weather as well. Growing pains lol! Actually not painful. Looking forward to doing it. I've just simply outgrown my shop as it is. Already have my supplies and will start any day now when weather permits. Vids of enclosing it will follow. Stay tuned!
Thanks for the reply. My table saw is easy to get to so I use it for straight cuts. My band saw is a cheap one so I use it only for cutting curves. Your case for your knives came out really nice. I see you put a lot of thought in it.Nice design.
Thanks, I have loved the case. It worked out better than I ever thought it would. But I guess you could say the design "evolved". I also started with a little 9" band saw and immediately took it back. I could not get the thing adjusted to where it would even keep the blade on the tires. I was wanting to cut band saw boxes and it just would not do it. I got the Grizzley Anniversary edition of their 14" band saw. Took a lot of set up and adjusting, but when I finally found out from one of the set up vids I watched on you tube that most blades that come on most saws was junk, I ordered the timberwolf blade and I just can't tell you how good it cut after that. Don't know if it would have helped the cheaper one, but it probably would have. The little ones are probably a bit under powered though. The Grizzley has a much bigger motor.
Good point, even on the bandsaw there was a fence completely ignored. Until a certain width was needed. Tip, if your fence is square and you need a square cut, use it
What are those clamps called?
Hi Delores, I'm not sure other than hold down clamps. I got them at Harbor freight if I remember correctly, but they are readily available. Try this link for harbor freight:

What do you have on head? OMG
It's called a straw hat. Here in the south we have lots of sun!
