How thick is your hogging knife? I understand that there in no bevel in your flat plane knives but there is still bevel formed when the taper was initially ground to form the blade.
I have a wide variety of Harley, Drake, Helvie and OCCT. I really love the Drakes, but hate the handles. To large and need to be reprofiled. I LOVE your channel. Keep up the fantastic content.
I recently bought a Stryi knife from the Ukraine. it has a a very narrow pointed blade (15 degrees). It's great for detailing. on their website they call it a chip carving knife. not your conventional chip knife though. they make the old world chip knives. nontheless it came very sharp and very polished. It's rather inexpensive, 35.00. I bought it as more as a novelty but I find myself reaching for it often.
They are! I know Mike well, and in fact just shot a video with him the other day where we looked at how he makes his knives some, along with other things we discussed in the video that should be coming out within the next few months. I believe they are several months behind on orders even.
great job explaining the knives
I'm still a beginner but tried many knives. I really like Lee Ferguson's knives. I've bought extras as backups. Thanks for the video.
Thanks. Good instructions. Calm, clear, concise.
Thank your for the video Van. It is always good to have someone like you to explain what knives would be helpful and good starter tools. Thank You.
All of your videos are awesome. Thank you for sharing them God bless
I LOVE my Wells knife! Wicked sharp
Great info and advice. Thanks.
Very interesting! Which wood do you use? Your cuts seem to be extremely smooth.
I have several knives, Occt is my go to at 2 inch to start the grab the shorter blades. I would like to get one like the last knife you showed.
The last knife he showed is a DHK. You can find them easily @ Mountain Woodcarvers or Treeline.
Pisau yang bagus
The second knife the orange curley maple knife is a Dunkle knife out of NW ohio
what type of wood are you using and where do you get them from?
I mostly use basswood. I have a local guy that I normally get it from, but most of it comes from norther states in the US.
Wow tha reall cool 👍👍

That's great! Nothing like finding a good tool you love!
I do not think Mike Shipley and OCCT are making knives. The business was sold and knives are being made under the name KCT.
