I've been watching Cinemassacre shit for years and I'm still finding content that I've never seen before, that is years old! Thanks for re-releasing stuff ya crazy bastards!
Something about this video calms me and makes me think of easier times and I always come back to James and Mike videos from this time like the pilot wings videos when I can't sleep
I don't know why, and it's going to be the only time I'll say this, but I would love to see an entire series of you guys playing this game. Something about it just sings to me.
yes. a video where: they make their best effort to "beat" the game. "beating" sim city SNES; to me, would entail: clearing the scenario stages, including the final one of: getting to 500k pop score on the no water map with the mario face bush.
I love the way Mike approaches this game. For James, it's about being ridiculous and also doing what he logically assumes will get him better stats. Mike imagines this as though he's building a real town that he will be living in, and goes from there. From what I know of these guys, I would have assumed that it would be the other way around.
I almost shed a tear of nostalgia, I also built blocks with nine buildings and the special ones in the center, that way they grew into Tops or double buildings. And the music, oh my, so relaxing, I spent countless hours on this game and not one of them was wasted.
The great thing about this game is that it was so simple. I find that newer city builder have such a big learning curve that is too much to get newer players interested.
It takes approximatively 10 seconds for a stage to load. 10x1000= 10 000 secs 10 000 divided by 3600 is the number of hours we would need, so 2 hours, 46 minutes & 40 seconds. definitively not a week
there are also 1000 extra maps if you do some other steps I don't remember, which not only doubles the # of maps, the process also takes more time, so it could be at least 7-8 hours.
2:05 It takes about 11 seconds to load each level in the select screen. So if there are 999 levels it would take just over 3 hours to go through them all lol
This was the first episode of James and Mike Mondays I ever saw back when it first dropped on TH-cam....miss these 2 hanging out and gaming. Just had to come back and watch this today while I'm sitting here bores as fuck at work.
The best cheat code for this game: After exiting the game, at the "see you soon" screen: controller 2: Left, A, Right, Y, Up, B, Down, X, Select, Start, Start, Select, R, R, L, L. Press Up or Down to scroll through the options, and press Left or Right to toggle them on or off. To activate the selected features, change MEMORY to SET and reset the SNES (they will remain active even if you power off). To deactivate everything, go back into the menu, change MEMORY to CLR, and press B. This opens a debug menu that (among ong other things) let's you turn water into land. Make your own terrain kinda thing
I haven't thought about it before, but the fact that Mike and James are wearing AC/DC and Metallica t-shirt... Beavis & Butt-Head! This means James is Beavis and Mike is Butt-Head. Huh, huh huh huh ....
I would guess that the map selection takes so long and has so many options because it's actually randomly generated. It would make a lot more sense if the number was used as a seed for the generation algorithm like in Minecraft, rather than them actually sitting down and designing 1,000 maps.
I love this game!! Still got it fully boxed with instructions! It does actually have pictures of a few of the maps in the booklet that comes with it but not all 1000
I remember using the code, placing only railroads instead of roads, and I was able to earn the Mario Statue for reaching 500,000 citizen's... long time ago and still remember that achievement.
It took about 12 seconds for y'all to switch from map 002 to map 003. So about 12,000 seconds which is over 3 hours...theoretically speaking of course.
My friend and I used to play this game back in the day and he made a town called Fucktown too. His little 2 year old nephew happened to be there and he heard my friend say he was making Fucktown. So the little 2 year old starts walking around the house saying, "Fucktown Fucktown!" My friend's mom asked where he got it from and my friend got yelled at. Good memories. Thanks Sim City!
I love this game and specifically the music SO MUCH. something so relaxing about it. I'm not even really into Sim building type games too much but just instantly gravitated to this one. Just pure happiness reminding me of the era when SNES was released and having so much fun.
I really do love Sim City for SNES. One of my favorite games of the 16 bit era...the gameplay is wonderful and the music just puts you in a trance that makes you feel good. Great stuff
The funny thing is that on top of the mostly unnecessary 1000 maps, there's an additional 1000 alternate maps which can be unlocked with a couple steps.
Not sure if someone mentioned this yet, but resetting the game actually gives you yet ANOTHER set of 1000 maps. Somebody clock how long it takes to load all of those screens up!
My favorite memory of the SNES version of Sim City was beating all of the challenges and getting rewarded with the land area that had NO WATER whatsoever! Such an amazing experience to build your town on that map. That is, until the citizens became fucking dumb and asked for a sea port...
I would build a very simple small base town that had all potential drastic issues covered but still made money every month, and I let it go passively for many years to build up a huge amount of money before I really started building
I'm fairly sure those numbers are seeds for a map generator. The game most likely generates those maps on the fly. They don't take up room that way, you just need to have room for the engine that creates the maps. I don't know for sure, though.
I think the game actually came with a poster thing that had thumbnails of every single map on it, with the number you had to put in to get that particular map. That's how I remember it, anyways:)
astrosteve That sounds very plausible. Storing all those maps on the cartridge would take far too much space. Better to store the engine and generate based on a seed, at the expense of some time.
+Christopher Rowe Although i sucked at them and i couldnt play them without cheats as a kid i loved Sim City SNES, Sim City 3000 and 4 as a kid. I havent tried out Sim City 2000 yet though, how is it compared to the other games?
***** I disagree with that one acually, I havent played Sim City 2000 but i'v played 3000 and 4 and i thought they were pretty good. I'v heard the new Sim City game wasn't though( the name alone bothers me, i mean why not just call it Sim City 5?).
I used to play 3000 a bunch but I would always run out of money and couldnt figure out how to take out loans! So frustrating so I would just do a bunch of new games. Loved the jazz music in that game tho
You realize they still make SimCity and SimCity 5 was released last year on the PC, though you have to get it through Origin. It is released by EA because EA owns Maxis, the developer behind the title.
Like James & Mike Mondays? See more game playthroughs with Mike on Twitch!

Mikes playthroughs are brilliant
hey do you have any iron man games because you did spiderman and i think x men it could be good
You should be able to put hookers and random corners to increase revenue.
I've been watching Cinemassacre shit for years and I'm still finding content that I've never seen before, that is years old!
Thanks for re-releasing stuff ya crazy bastards!
Have you ever seen the Nintendo ique?
who else noticed that they were wearing ac/dc and Metallica t shirts. like bevis and butt-head
Good observation :) They're even sitting in the same order as Beavis and Butt-Head where Mike is Butt-Head and James is Beavis :D
Armadillo
they also did the laughs at 2:38 and even said 'butt munch'
yard wolf I was just going to say that! XD
yard wolf i love both acdc and metallica and was thinking about them when i started watching this. wow. luck.
Xulius Caesar Same, it's clearly intentional
Something about this video calms me and makes me think of easier times and I always come back to James and Mike videos from this time like the pilot wings videos when I can't sleep
me too, alf ❤️👍
Pure, raw nostalgia. Proves how rewatchable these are as well
Same, dude
Me too. Sadly, the stress and worries were too much last night and it just didn’t work to calm me down like it usually does.
10 years... it's been an interesting 10 for sure. still love coming back to this one in particular :)
I don't know why, and it's going to be the only time I'll say this, but I would love to see an entire series of you guys playing this game. Something about it just sings to me.
Hi walcom sempai
I want to see James try Cities Skylines.
We NEED this
yes. a video where: they make their best effort to "beat" the game. "beating" sim city SNES; to me, would entail: clearing the scenario stages, including the final one of: getting to 500k pop score on the no water map with the mario face bush.
I'm with Walcom on this one, a whole series would be awesome.
"who would want to live near a 5000$ power station"
cracked me up so hard
The answer is 4 hours 9mins and 17sec
omg
+NoNameFitz lol
+Jeff Peake watch 316whatupz he has video on his channel. It took him like 3 hours to do it
is there a middle finger map? or a pair of tits map?
I calculated between 3-4 hours based on 13-15 second load screens they had.
I love the way Mike approaches this game. For James, it's about being ridiculous and also doing what he logically assumes will get him better stats. Mike imagines this as though he's building a real town that he will be living in, and goes from there. From what I know of these guys, I would have assumed that it would be the other way around.
"Everybody's a police officer and there's still fucking crime, figure that out!"
Oh believe me that makes perfect sense
somebody has scrolled through all 999 maps on youtube it takes more than
4 HOURS.
holy fucking shit!
FOUR HOURS?!! Fuckin'... I... damn.
kusoman 謝路逖 I knew it! :O

kusoman 謝路逖 AVGN SHOCKED FACE IN 3.. 2.. 1..
i still love the soundtrack for this game, even after so many years. just so calm and soothnig.
soothing*
My dad referred to it as "that game that sounds like a soap opera"
You got good tastes in video game music....
@@dovic2293 soooothing*
The music is really one of the selling points for this game. Such a good soundtrack.
Its cheap go buy it ya hunk....
Yes her name was Soyo Oka who also did super mario kart and pilotwings.
I almost shed a tear of nostalgia, I also built blocks with nine buildings and the special ones in the center, that way they grew into Tops or double buildings. And the music, oh my, so relaxing, I spent countless hours on this game and not one of them was wasted.
"I would not want to live in this fucktown" lolol
Ture
The Beavis and Butthead references are insane in this episode.
The shirts
13:09
"Y'know they make it so you can't beat Zurg unless you buy this book. It's extortion, that's what it is!"
~ Rex, Toy Story 2
The music in this game is so memorable
T-shirts provided by Mike Judge.
just noticed that lmfao
beat me to it
They even made a reference to the show at 2:38 and 10:43 so they must know
Beavis and butthead plays simcity
Lol, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed the shirts. Plus James chanting fire.
I totally didn't notice that, but that's so cute if they coordinated that on purpose, lol.
Lol saw that too he even says buttmunch in it somewhere.
2:35
All they were missing were the iconic laughs...and maybe a few million fewer brain cells. ;D
oh man that intro music.so much nostalgia.being 6 years old turning this on was like a warm blanket.
This is a perfect metaphor for world leaders that have never been through struggle
They're so young in this video it's crazy
3 hours, 3 minutes, and 9 seconds is how long it would take to go through all of the maps.
What did it look like
haha ... What were they thinking?
Actually, the game has not 1000 but 2000 maps. And it is even more time consuming accessing the alternate maps.

The same reason that made the Roller Coaster Tycoon series appealing.
5:30 *“I walk the lonely road, the only road that I have ever known.”*
And now the Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed this game.
Crazy this is the newest avgn episode
The great thing about this game is that it was so simple. I find that newer city builder have such a big learning curve that is too much to get newer players interested.
Sim theme park I loved for the atari jag
"God Complex" is the best kind of complex
Fell asleep watching James and Mike only to have it keep auto playing all of their videos, so I woke up to James and Mike as well.
8:30 lol everyone's either a cop or a criminal in this town hahaha
I know right XD
So Judge Dredd XD
+Skull V it's more like Cop Land.
What is the difference?
8:25 maybe the crime is WITHIN the police? You know, corruption and stuff?
Literally the plot of Copland
It takes approximatively 10 seconds for a stage to load. 10x1000= 10 000 secs

genius!
You have to factor in at least 4 seconds of viewing time for each screen
3:40 I find it funny how they're unwittingly talking about how inefficient highways and car depenant cities are.
This game was sooooo much fun as a kid being able to literally create an entire city.
I just ran it through a calculator.
It'd take you like four and a quarter hours to load every single map.
Who’s here after the nerd video on SimCity?
Me.
I definitely came back
I love how the music of this game changes the more people take residence in your town.
the game is not that hard, build a stable small city, with a surplus. then wait. eventually you'll have enough money to expand the city.
Levi Johansen The problem is the temptation to build a big city right away.
I had this game when I was like 5 ....... cheat codes was to tempting lol make a huge city and destroy it lol
Levi Johansen James has the patience of a watermelon.
Everyone knows it's not hard.
I had it on PC and used to leave the PC on over night, next morning $$$. Or the PC had crashed bc windows95
Easily one of the best J&MM videos, perfect editing, banter, music, pacing, etc. Love it.
I always loved the SNES version. Great video!
0:16 Big like for Ride the lightning.
My only problem with this awesome game is the fact that you can't use the SNES Mouse, sucks it came out after this port of Sim City......
Yeah, wtf is that? A piranha trick-or-treating as Jeff the Killer? O.o
Faethey i call it, creepy weird messy thingy beast, no offense, but its scary
Your profile pic scared the shit out of me

2:37 Beavis & Butthead moment.
MASF look at their t-shirts!
The funny thing about the first SimCity is that you can build a city with nothing but railroads.
2:30 “what were they thinking”
The best cheat code for this game:

aw man how adorable would a sim city from the 1800s be D:
I played this on a monochrome laptop I believe running win 3.1. I am guessing it was a 486 but it could have been a 386?
Sim City 2000 was my favorite on the ps1, but this one was great for when it came out!
I only ever heard of this game from a friend back in the day, don't think I ever got to play it. Interesting a Sims game being so great on the SNES.
thanks nerd hnow the sims theme is stuck in my head
My friend and I used to play this game back in the day and he made a town called Fucktown too. His little 2 year old nephew happened to be there and he heard my friend say he was making Fucktown. The perfect test for political candidates. Forget debates.
You're confusing politics with civil engineering/city planning. Although it can be a minor part of a politician's duties.
I love this game and specifically the music SO MUCH. something so relaxing about it. I'm not even really into Sim building type games too much but just instantly gravitated to this one. Just pure happiness reminding me of the era when SNES was released and having so much fun.

I liked playing the scenarios to just fix
everything !
With the ACDC and Metallica shirts, they look like a real life version of Beavis and Butthead
That's probably the point of their wearing those shirts.
lol derp
Corbin427 Turd burglar
not only do they look like beavis and butthead acdc has a song "sin city" lmao 😂
Come on guys! almost 1 million views!
Beavis and Butthead are playing Sim-City ;)
Mike and James bring out the good old Metallica and AC-DC shirts. :)
They were obviously going for some sort of Beavis and Butthead thing
The funny thing is that on top of the mostly unnecessary 1000 maps, there's an additional 1000 alternate maps which can be unlocked with a couple steps.
Not sure if someone mentioned this yet, but resetting the game actually gives you yet ANOTHER set of 1000 maps. Somebody clock how long it takes to load all of those screens up!
No it doesn't. The SNES version has 1000 specific maps. There are pictures of them in the instruction manual that came with the game.
@@leadbones yes it does jackson and no the manual did not have every of the normal 999 just a select few....of the 1998 in total that there is......
intentionally dressed up like Beavis and Butt-Head? you guys rule!
2:35
James I would love to share a beer with you one day and play some SNES classics
But you have to share the one singular bottle of beer together.
"You need money to play the game"
Too relatable.
My favorite memory of the SNES version of Sim City was beating all of the challenges and getting rewarded with the land area that had NO WATER whatsoever! Such an amazing experience to build your town on that map. That is, until the citizens became fucking dumb and asked for a sea port...
James and Mike, play The lion king on the snes. It's a magical game.
The snes geek That game isn't that bad actually. I was pleasantly surprised by it.
***** genesis version way better
That game was fun, but is it just me or was it really hard? Maybe I was just bad at games
Afghan Jesus It's really hard but enjoyable. I want it.
I just seen it Bevis and Butt-Head! lol look at the t-shirts! lol
ha, I thought the exact same thing!
nice catch
I just noticed the song played in the background is the snes version of the song used in Twilight Princess.
The scenarios are great for this game. If you finish them all you get a blank map with no water.
And a huge mario face shaped forest.....
I used to play the crap out of this game. Good ol' SNES.
my favorite version of simcity is Simcity 2000 on PC
Robloxian show you must be kidding....or trolling or both

okay for all the people that think SimCity 2013 is good. Go and play SimCity 3000.

metallica right on bro fan myself and keep doing vids you do a great job

a game like this would be perfect for the wii u just hope ea doesn't make the game or else i can't even pass the title screen.

I think EA programmed the website for Obamacare.
