Probably meant to pin the comment.
The delay before moving after the light turns green is a bug. FSD sees all traffic all the time so FSD should have double checked cross traffic several dozen times while the cross traffic signal was yellow. Being stopped at a red light should not even stop it from moving out the way of a drunk driver. It should run the red light if needed.
At 1650 the way the cop car crept through the intersection with a pedestrian crossing is how FSD will eventually have to keep moving on with pedestrians.
For whatever strange reason the truck seems to think there is a speed-bump=cross-walk in front of the mich theater and can't figure out what it is, so it phantom brakes. Just weird. Perhaps something strange about the street markings makes the cross walk look similar to speed bump markings, we would know the difference but the truck might not???
Mostly the truck just seems unsure of itself like the software doesn't quite fit. The semi will have the same problem if Tesla can't figure out how to instruct the FSD to scale for this and that. Both semis (they still only have one) will even have to back trailers in a foot from buildings and just nudge up to the dock.
Thanks for that foot/μm conversion at 8:55 🤣🤣🤣
Luckily to convert it to cm you just remove some zero's
@@realmadridsiyeah that's the beauty of the metric system
@@realmadridsi and 1um is 0,78978787 hair ? ahah
Thanks for giving us the imperial conversion to microns. I think in microns every day! 😀
lol😂😂😂
😂
I think in microns every time I see myself in the mirror in the nude.
I tried FSD on my CT last night driving around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for the first time. Was heading N on 35W and it switched lanes, passed a group of 3 cars, moved back and exited 35W - pretty cool
Im from MN also, I have really enjoyed its performance on the highway. Just needs assertive to be a little more aggressive sometimes.
16:48 I would say record the data separately but on the same graph (I.e. maybe have different coloured bars for the Cybertruck). That way you can still have all the data in one place, but it also distinguishes between “normal” V12 and Cybertruck V12 😊
Kudos to the engineers who had to modify the FSD to fit this new design and accommodate for its size and new camera positions. Now, they can get more data from this early access to fine-tune things toward full release.
7 months may have been a long time, but they pulled it off, and it will only get better.
As Chuck would say, "Give yourself a pat on the back..."
As the owner of a full-size 4 door truck, I can really appreciate the manuverability that the rear steering gives you. There were plenty of turns it made, like the one with the bus, that wouldn't have worked out without it.
I have been using FSD in my Cybertruck, but I'm not aware of a "report" button like you have, did I not see it, or is it because you are in Tesla Early Access program? Thx!
I've got about 100 miles on CT FSD now and pretty much ALL the same interventions and frequency of them. It's amazing! ...but you definitely have to pay strict attention. It'll only get better! 🙌
My biggest complaint so far, it waits way to long to brake for stopped traffic, red lights and stop signs. Almost every stop ends with friction brakes.
Yeah, I notice this too at higher speeds
7:35 It looked like it stopped for the stop sign on the left side of the road for some reason?
Yes. Was going to say this. Stopped for the stop sign on the other side of the road.
Exactly right. Portable stop sign like for signal outage abandoned facing traffic. If I were a robot I'd stop.
This is why I love the comments lol, I never saw it.
I know I keep on saying this but thank you for all your CT videos, I don't have one yet but I learn so much in your videos and IMO you are best giving us CT driving data than anyone else... Keep up the good work good sir
8:55 😂 love it
It’s really fun to try and play with different ideas whenever FSD seems to hallucinate. Notice this guy get in his street parked car just before you go through the intersection (7:23)? Because FSD did, and visualized it too. I’m not sure what it perceives the likelihood of a street parked car opening its door or pulling out is, but I’m guessing it’s a lot higher when it knows for sure a human is in it. Or maybe your FSD computer just got hit by a stray neutron. Who knows 🤷♂️
Just curious, do you know if you have a trailer hooked up if it will allow you to use FSD or not?
That’s a really good question!
In other Teslas no, especially when you enable tow mode.
@@DirtyTesla when they eventually do it's going to be so overpowered as a robotaxi type delivery vehicle
How about auto park or assist
I've seen two cyber trucks in my HyVee parking lot when doing carts and either one is 1-2 weeks apart, but possibly a lower range of days and depending on when I'm out, I'm part-time so most of my shifts are four hours and the shifts vary and I don't work in the evening or Thursdays
I did try full self-driving on my cybertruck. It did very well I use it every time it did run over a few curbs so it still feels like it's trying to drive a model 3. I think some fine-tuning is needed.
A one-time coworker of mine enjoyed giving distances in Femto-Parsecs and light-nanoseconds. I’ve not done the arithmetic for a couple of decades, but I recall that they were both about a foot.
slowercuber7767 Yes a light-nanosecond is about a foot and makes far more sense than some long dead king's foot. But we would convert over to metric if we ever make a conversion.
my all time favorite thumbnails on this channel
5:35 I wonder if FSD recognized the "slow"-sign that the guy held up at the road construction 😅
I too have noticed a slight delay on going when a light turns green on 12.5.4. Seems to be a change sometime in the last couple versions. I'm OK with it for safety reasons as you said but it's between 1 and 2 seconds so it's probably on the upper limit of acceptable.
Delay on the greens:
Chuck on his dedicated cybertruck UPL video just reported how there's also a delay when there's an opening and it hesitates before taking it.
Might also also be related to the hesitation to start rolling when you enable FSD, some added caution on initial acceleration
I am wondering if the over/under steering issues are FSD not use to the steer by wire steering changing based on speed. On another note, I would be interested in seeing how FSD handles towing unless it is not recommended yet.
Thanks Chris, one thing I’ve noticed with ASS 12.5.4 in my HW3 MY is that it won’t work on hills. My driveway is nowhere near steep but is inclined. The car stops and I get a message saying “too steep”.
I know I’d be glued to my Cybertruck but have you seen or messed with the early 12.5.4.1 build in the Y?
Just drove it tonight, The Y still seems to drive better. What are you thinking of it?
I definitely think the Cybertruck should be listed separately from the Model Y as it seems to have its own FSD issues.
I think it’s a combination of the size making it much more cautious and the steer by wire throwing the steering system off, causing incorrect turning angles (and making FSD brake because it’s not turning as it expects).
Given the rate of supercharger deployments, it might be useful to group them by country/state, e.g.
"New superchargers in china this week are 12 stall V3 in Shanghai, #xxx in china, 3 stall V3 in xenshou."
Chris, it looks like the phantom braking at 7:36 and 13:57 is confusion about the stop sign positioned on the left side of the street there.
The cyber truck got a second recall one week after you posted and the foundation series will be in giga Texas until December 22
I think this has gone wide. I've been a tester since Noveber 2021 on my M3LR but on a different account. My vin is in the 26k range.
Loving being able to try this on the CT!
The most common reason I break out of FSD is to brake because of too much speed. The most common reason I intervene with the accelerator is due to speed being too low (ok, that is virtually tautological). The bottom line is that FSD is not yet excellent at settling at a good legal cruising speed on many roads. Often FSD accelerates too hard for the sleepy little roads around my house. I still take over often to correct the path of my hw4 MY when turning at an intersection or to avoid a utility service point in the road or a dead animal (squirrel, armadillo, possum, etc) carcass.
FSD always goes into PTSD mode when I want it to drive down my driveway and refuses, but can’t say I blame it for this, as the driveway is kinda rough…
And yet, with these and a few other consistent inconsistencies, I am a much better driver with FSD than without it, and except in special circumstances, prefer that it drive most of the time.
Awesome, great fit for the Tesla team
A different type of stress test for sure. My experience so far on a pretty basic drive is not great at all. On the speed, it will turn onto our 75+ mph freeway here, and go a max of 55 or so with max turned on. Have to nudge it. Then it speeds or stays up there as it drops to 65/55/45/35 and even by then it's going 20+ over still into town and turns. It has almost crashed every time on our freeway exit that does a cloverleaf by going about 30mph too fast where couldn't physically make the turn. It has turn right consistently into a left turn lane in town (doesn't seem to learn) that would result in a crash. It is consistently over the yellow lane markers on our smaller 401A road herein rural TX, and highway 71 and 281 is a disaster. Things seemed trained or optimized for you almost.
“..continues to do nice job here..oh it stops here need to press accelerator..😅😅
A lot of those issues aren't cyber truck specifically. in 12.5.4 my HW3 Tesla is constantly in a turn only lane when it needs to be going straight. It's also constantly sways into other lanes when making sharper turns regardless if a car is in the other lane which is quite dangerous
The eyes. 👀
The truck looked like it was so close to that bus😮. How close to its mirror were you since it suck out a lot more?
0:02 kinda interesting it recognizes the Cross on the ground but at a wrong spot. Or it thinks the road is bigger than it really is. Would be interesting if it would go over the grass thinking there is road or if it would correct itself before hitting the grass. Or maybe it just gave the Cross the wrong scale 🤔
Used FSD on my CT for the last couple of days. I had to take control two times to prevent an accident. The first time I was rounding a bend to turn left onto a highway and the CT drove into the other lane with a car turning towards me. I don’t know why it went into the other lane as there was a clearly marked double yellow line on the road. The second time I was at a 4 way stop and when it was my turn to make a left turn the CT made too sharp of a turn and almost hit the car at the intersection. Two potential accidents in two days is not a good start. I’m at 12.5.5.
Tesla is gathering data from specific areas that Tesla employees didn't drive with fsd
I found some left turns to be quite scary.
Truck will turn well into the oncoming Lane even when there's cars there. All things considered, I'm thrilled to have FSD though. Worth the 9-month wait I think 🍻
I had the same experience
I dive in the city everyday. The amount of rudness here is on a whole new level.
Regarding the graph at the end, I think cybertruck should be its own thing.
I just got insurance on my cyber truck, so I guess it's getting pretty real. By the way, it costs less to insure the cyber beast than it did to insure my 2003 ram 2500
Awesome! Yeah my Cybertruck was less than my 2021 Y too 🤔
@@DirtyTesla It must be an automatic calculation with less available data on cost to replace and accident probability. I bet a year later it'll be higher.
I am not a early access driver and got it a few days ago. I had it on my 2023 X and it is not as good as my X was a few months ago.
Feels like it's extra causious?
I think until you can select assertive, the drives should not be lumped together with other Teslas
Maybe FSD is confused by dynamic steering ratio?
I would love to take A Dirty Tesla Video production Class. Amazing setup. I still can’t figure out how to attach my Go Pro to the Roof. 😆
Here ya go th-cam.com/video/1tRS3KlIIiE/w-d-xo.html :P it's all still pretty similar to this except now I use DJI osmo action 4, way better
Thanks Bro
Do we know if it uses the from bumper camera ?
It doesn't seem to
@@DirtyTesla Chuck was doing all of his CT testing with a piece of tape over his front bumper camera.
Hey DirtyTesla,
can you somehow make the Tesla screen in the video bigger?
I can try, but I can't directly record in Cybertruck yet like I can in the Y
Does it seem to be more cautious about pedestrians than other builds ?
I have 3 Teslas but not so sure of self driving barely use it
I'm having a lot of problems with left turns. it hesitates so much that the people behind me honk
I got version 12.5.4 recently, and annoyingly it seems to have introduced some strange behavior where my Model Y will occasionally just ignore navigation. Not in a smart way (at least as far as I can tell), just randomly. Like taking a left when we need to go straight. Curious if you've seen the same issue with 12.5.4 on your Y, and if so, whether it seems to be fixed in 12.5.5 on the Cybertruck.
I saw that once too but it was in a smart way lol
@8:55 I prefer distance in nm, expressed in scientific notation, like 3.048e+8 nm.
Only a fraction of the readers would know how to convert it to something useful, and nobody would actually do it 😅
11:52 you say this turn was strange for being in middle of lanes but it was wrong even before that. It turned from a straight only lane. The green bike lane was a shared right turn lane and you should have been in that lane to turn. Technically it was an illegal turn.
However, the lane/line markings was really bad so not sure I can blame FSD since it isn't clear even to a human.
I was so stressed watching this 😩
😂 good glad I was not alone
@@DirtyTesla same im glad I'm not crazy, also it seems like even though they say this is a new version of autopilot. I feel like it's a half Truth, like it seems to act like the really old version in close proximity to objects where it's very sharp movement and then once it gets moving, it reverts or relies on the newer software, and that's why it keeps under and oversteering. But that's just a guess, I don't even own a car to begin with so take what I say with an ocean of salt. 😅
So when you make turns with signal the camera turns to your side mirror camera and the rear camera disappears. Can the rear camera stay on all the time?
Yes it can
Question in regards to deleteme...so they delete your data, but somehow its a monthly subscription, not sure I understand?
Sorry I just saw this. They continue to scour the internet as there are thousands of these websites and data is continually added to new websites. They send you reports and you can see your data continually deleted. You also could just sign up for a month and cancel :)
Hey sorry john just saw this. They continue to monitor the internet and find new data brokers that are constantly adding your info from various sources. You could just sign up for a month or two if you want and get some data deleted, or look at your privacy reports and see if you'd like to stay subscribed. Up to you!
Chris, with the Cybertruck FSD version 12.5.5 still having the left turn bug (driving into oncoming traffic lane or suicide lane), why is Tesla rolling out this version to more Cybertrucks? Are they not aware of this bug? If they are, wouldn't they NOT roll it out to more people until 12.5.6? I saw an almost head-on collision due to this bug. What's your take on this?
People like to think of there's a single bug Tesla stops the rollout of fsd... It's just not the case, FSD has always done weird things and always eventually rolled out. My only guess is they wanted out before end of quarter.
They specifically said in the release notes it's an early access build and to use extra caution. Cybertruck owners wanted their FSD and they finally got it. I think we'll see a few quick updates for it to fix these little weird things, and then it'll be equivalent to other models.
❤❤❤
Running on 12.5.4 - noticing new bugs with phantom..slowing? The car is almost pulsing the accel, so you can feel it slow and speed up, back and forth, very quickly, but just a little. Also, when making turns, the car will pulse the speed as well as swerve the wheel side to side. Very awkward, highly "robotic" feeling.
Does FSD on S3XY models handle school zones and stopped school buses? My CT FSD had no answer / awareness of them. 😞
Wasn't sure if it's a CT FSD thing or an every FSD thing.
Nope
@@DirtyTesla Definitely an issue for CyberTaxi then. 🧐
4:36 inb4 taken out of context by Dan O’Dowd
CAN YOU TOW WITH FSD??
I dunno I don't tow 😂
Negative. TACC seems to be the only real autopilot feature available for towing.
Trouble is Chris, I’m experiencing the same turn planning hesitation, steering wheel jerkiness in my HW3, M3 on v12.5.4. I don’t think it’s a unique CT issue.
Also inconsistent speed control, phantom braking, lane selection and lane staging regressions are all steps backward from what v12.3.6 offered.
Whew, was thinking it was just me and my FSD was corrupted. So much regression. I'll take a.s.s and 3.6!
Disagree on lane selection. It's virtually the same as 12.3.6 for me. I'd say lane changes on 12.5.4 are smoother with no waffling between lanes, no need to worry about curbing rims, and slowing for traffic lights/traffic is much improved.
@@Duder0n There seems to be a vast difference between vehicles. There's a batch of 3.6 that was near perfect and 5.4 is just a bastion of day one regressions. Other batch is just the opposite.
My Cybertruck seems to have better FSD then my wife's Model Y on 12.5.4
If this uses end to end AI then won't it just learn all the human bad habits? Stopping too far back at the stop line or misjudging the corners seem like mistakes humans would make because of the vehicles blind spots.
CyberTrough - will it be a sales success or a big flop?
